Review La Favola - Newtown

Great little Italian place in Newtown. Very homely. The food was good. The wine was good. The table next to us was a large group and had a few shared platters which looked amazing. Definitely a good place a do host that kinda group setting.

This cozy restaurant has left the very best impressions! Hospitable hosts, scrumptious dishes, lovely presentation and fantastic dessert. I like to recommend to everybody! I want to come again right here many times.

I came here for valentine’s day dinner and they got us a special menu for the night. I ordered the black angus beef carpaccio and it blew my mind 🧠, it was so good! And then, I got the mafaldine with slow braised lamb ragu and Sardinian Malloreddus with porcini mushroom and truffle for the main. For my taste, it was a little bit bland but I really enjoy the dishes. Definitely will come back to try their regular menu!

We loved all the food we ordered, we’d love to come back and try their other sauces. We ordered the eggplant parm, calamari, 4 formaggi, dal mare, and the broccoli sauce. The opening hours for Google is wrong though. They’re open on Sundays from 11:30am-3pm as well. We got so confused if we’ll have a reservation the next day, and was already looking for alternatives. But they called early on Sunday to confirm our reservation so all good.

Seriously don’t get the hype with that price. Ordered a caprese salad, fettuccine carbonara and fusilli dal mare. The salad was really fresh but the carbonara was very oily but not creamy at all. Not a fan of having olives in my seafood pasta as the flavours just don’t go well together. Their handmade pasta was overall very ordinary too.

***Edit - overcharged**** I checked how much we've been charged and believe we were surprisingly overcharged. We had a entree bread foccacia ($9 + truffle butter $4). One carbonara $25, gnocchi on special that wasn't on the menu, and tiramisu ($15). No drinks. We were charged $94. Does that mean the pasta of the day was $41?? Ridiculous. Check your receipt!! **********, Had the special spinach gnocchi and carbonara. Gnocchi was creamy and full of flavour, carbonara fettuccine was cooked to perfection however bit too salty. The tables are tiny here, will be ideal for sole diners or 3 ppl max. As their name goes you can really tell their pasta is fresh. Tiramisu was very average though despite recommendations.

Friendly staff. I really enjoyed the night thanks to their friendly, helpful and nice staff. The food was really delicious and yummy. The only small problem was the size of the restaurant. People were very close to each other and we felt not comfortable because of Covid. It gets very crowded so make sure to book the place in advance. By the way, you can only order pasta there, don't expect Pizza....... 😊 But the pasta was wonderful and was surved very hot and had a very good presentation. Definitely recommend it for a nice dinner but book in advance....

Compliments to the staff, the service and food were superb. Portions were generous but not overwhelming. We left full, satisfied and happy!

This was by far the best pasta I've ever eaten and anyone that knows me knows Italian is my jam!! The gnocchi special was melt in your mouth and if you have a sweet tooth like me Favola has got that covered too! Try the Bombolone Alla Nutella! Too good to share. I couldn't help myself and ordered the Tiramisu which was truley delectable and the cannolo is little bites of heaven!!! Dine in or takeaway I am looking Favola- wood to next time. Beautiful service, beautiful food. Bravo!!

The most traditional Italian restaurant in Sydney I have dined in so far! The food was excellent, great portions, beautifully presented, tasted wonderful and sensibly priced too. The atmosphere was great with attentive and lovely staff that clearly like what they do. I'd recommend La Favola and we will definitely be coming back.

Fantastic place, comfortable and cozy. Carbonara is the right amount of creaminess. The ticker bal bush is flavourful, with a subtle hint of herb that you can experience in every mouth.. the pasta was also cooked to the right texture, soft yet chewy.. chef and staffs are very friendly too! Well done! Best carbonara we ever had in our life. Cheers!
