Hidden jewel of Japanese food. Big portion with very reasonable price. The food tastes amazing and flavorful. The place is kinda small but the vibe is great with great music. The staff is quite limited so make sure to get all your orders prepared when the place is crowded. This place gets all 2 thumbs up from me and is highly recommended to revisit. I think it's my favorite place for japanese food so far

The food was great. It came out really quickly. Reduced their staffing due to covid so it would’ve been very reasonable if the food took time to arrive. Plenty of parking in nearby backstreets. Decent pricing

Pleasantly surprised with this place. The fish tasted fresh and the udon was good. The service was a little muddled but I’m assuming that was due to the small size of the restaurant and how busy it got. I would definitely come back here.

We were roaming up and down King St on Valentines Day, looking for a dinner place. Everywhere had enormous queues or were closed. Fortunately because this place is just off King St, the queue was more manageable. What a pleasant surprise! Authentic Japanese. Friendly staff...even though very busy. Tempura was crisp and light, sushi and sashimi were top notch. The chilled sake was delightful on a warm summer night. I am sure the queues will be longer next time I visit...unfortunately for me. But well deserved. Highly recommended

Very generous Hikaru bento box, the chicken, sushi and sashimi were very fresh. The fried bits were quite commercial though, seemed like they were probably made from frozen instead of fresh, and by the time they reached me in delivery they were a bit soggy as well. The value for money is good, and I think I'd give these guys another try in-restaurant.

Everyone reading my reviews knows that I love Japanese food, and that I miss traveling to Japan... Hikaru didn’t disappoint. They offer simple yet tasty Japanese dishes at a very reasonable price. We had tempura and sushi, all very delicious, with a nice glass of sparkling umeshu. Highly recommended.

This place can be easily overlooked as it's bit hidden in side lane but that's what gives it nice calming vibe out of the rush of the main street. Staff is nice and helpful. Many wonderful dishes to choose from, but I've got a feeling you can't go wrong with any choice.

My partner and I have been to Hikaru several times before the lockdown, always had a wonderful experience. However, last night we were there with 2 of our friends and the service was beyond awful. Very rude waitress (the one with half pink hair) who refused my covid vaccine certificate which I always save as a picture on my phone and show without any issue everywhere. She requested me to show it to her on myGov website instead. She refused us to order while waiting for the myGov website to load on my phone (which never loaded). In the end we had to go back to the car and get a laptop to access the website and finally show the proof of vaccination that way to her... All of this took more than 20 min before we could order anything, not exactly the relaxing night we were looking for after a tiring day at work. Frankly the opposite of what we needed considering I had a proof of vaccination all along from the start... When we finally got our first dish, the same waitress 'threw' it on the table in an extremely rude manner. Very disappointed by the service as a regular customer, it has changed a lot versus pre-lockdown.
