Review Rice Paper Vietnamese Cuisine - Newtown

The food there was OKAY, but not outstanding compared to other restaurants in Newtown, and we do not recommend this restaurant. We often go for a quick meal in Newtown as we live nearby. We have been to this Vietnamese restaurant several times, however, each time we have to endure this rather condescending staff (seems like he is the staff-in-charge and in his 30s). When you want a little bit more details about specific dishes OR you have an extra particular requirement, he would only give you impatience in return with his long face. The restaurant was normally not busy, so I can't see there is any reason to be so impatient. To be honest, their price is relatively higher than other restaurants in Newtown, customers are supposed to get at least good service for this extra money spent while their food is merely OKAY. To share our worst experience here (also the LAST) --- today we went there for lunch, that condescending staff took our order without writing notes or whatsoever. It ended up with our order had not been taken, after our half an hour waiting around. When we wished to confirm with him about this, he even did not appear to feel sorry but just complain about he had done so much for the restaurant. We didn't see his point --- why he did not write down our order, and without a word of apology. We will never go there again, and good luck to anyone who intends to go.

The crispy chicken vermicelli is my go-to and has never disappointed me! It comes bone free. Even better with an addition of spring rolls. I like the coconut water too but it's often not available. Service is normally prompt and friendly. Sometimes they let you split the bill and sometimes not.

one of our regular haunts. always reliable, clean, and delicious. great fresh rolls, as you'd expect, but equally superb hanoi spring rolls, stuffed chicken wings, crispy pancakes, salads and pho. Haven't had a bad dish here, and we've tried most. Salt and pepper tofu was a surprising treat too. Good for takeaway also, though they don't deliver.

I came here seeking a filling, wholesome and spicy beef noodle soup to put an end to my cold and I was not disappointed. The soup is dark and full of flavour and the variety of meat combinations is also welcome. That they provide lime instead of lemon is a simple yet welcome twist on the usual condiments offered with pho. Their vermicelli is also not too bad though not outstanding.

nice. probably the best word to describe it. maybe its my lack of Vietnamese food knowledge beyond the infamous banh mi, but the meal didn't set my tastebuds alight. summer rolls and soft shell crab for starters, both lovely, would have preferred less noodle and more herb/some spring onion/cucumber inside, crab was tasty and nicely cooked but abit measly in portion size. ordered a beef vermicelli and a pork and prawn hotpot for main. vermicelli was good, nice and fresh and tasty dressing provided. hotpot was abit strange, very british gravy-esque, maybe thats just the dish? wasn't the biggest fan. Visited on a tuesday night and the venue was pretty empty, which is understandable due to the day of the week but it kinda killed the vibe. some restaurants are banging in newtown every night of the week, so a shame there wasnt much atmosphere. will probably return one weekend to give it a fair shot, but all in all as i said earlier, it was nice

Nice vietnamese restaurant - little bit pricey in my opinion, but not outlandishly so. Generous serves for the mains. The rice paper rolls I tried (Autumn Rolls) were delicious, not rice paper rolls with salad, etc.. but more like rice noodles - very tasty

Tasting good, but the dish is small and it will cost more than $10. But they has some special meal, if you hang out with couple of friends, u can order them, but if you go yourself, it's probably not enough.

My go to Vietnamese in Newtown! Fantastic food, lots of gluten free options, and get quick service. Their vermicelli bowls and spring rolls are my favourite!
