Miyama
TOTALLY loving it!!! Best Japanese restaurant in Sydney. Hiding in the busy street and you never regret the treasure hunt!
It is a very lovely Japanese restaurant in Newtown. Good for family and friends. Good service.
Recommend their Soy milk hot pot and sushi. The nasu dangaku is amazing and traditional also. Really yummy. Price is ok, just they don’t sell alcohol, you need to bring beer by yourself. Will come back again.
Visiting from Melbourne and found this place on my walk through Newtown. I ordered the spicy veg sushi rolls and Sashimi, and Tuna Tataki. Tasted great and was fresh. Tiny little place, but hey I was dining for one, so no issues.
Nice and tasty Japanese food. Reasonable price! Love their sushi and Carpaccio. Spicy ramen is nice too. Really enjoyed the food. Friendly and helpful service. They did the good job. Definitely come back soon.
Great service and excellent food quality! We had great experience here every time. The restaurant is not big! But their sushi and hot pot worth you to visit! Sashimi is fresh and sushi roll is tasty! The hot pot is really yummy with soy milk base and no MSG! Seafood and meat in this hot pot are perfect match! Highly recommended!
Nice and friendly service. Always warm welcome for customers! Enjoy their menu and price. Good for group party! You should try their Japanese hot pot. It’s amazing tasty and fresh! They will help you to cook the hot pot! Sushi is nice here too! They have many creations on their menu! Good restaurant to come back!
It's a amazing restaurant in Newtown. Sushi, ramen and side dish are decent. Too busy for lunch time. But the service still alright. They do care their customer, they will give you some good options. Sushi is the best! Fresh and tasty. Really recommend people in this area to try.
Decent Japanese food! Very worth to visit! Recommend the soy milk hotpot! Service is good! Should have reservations before you go. They get busy in weekend!
A nice Japanese restaurant near Sydney University. Good food and good ambience. Sushi is amazing here. Fresh and tasty. Friendly service as well. And they are very busy for the lunch time. Better book a table before you go there. You might need to wait for your food. But worth for it. Highly recommend!
A small Japanese restaurant in Newtown Main Street. Decent food for reasonable price. Quite busy for the dinner time. Lots of Uber take away and dine in customers. Service is good as well!
For the food, sushi is the most pretty thing I like in this restaurant. Really tasty and fresh. A must try for new customer is the abut I king and Fuji mountain. Beef don is the traditional Japanese Donburi, and they make it good. The chef is very creative for the menu. Highly recommend for people in this area!
The ramen tasted nice and come with a piece of fantastic chicken katsu for unbelievable value! Xihuahua 🐶 knew what to order ;)
I got the Chinese Japanese fusion bento with spicy ox tongue as the main dish. The rice portion was huge for japanese food. They do use a lot of sweet sauce so not entirely healthy to be honest. The kitchen also made us wait long time! Service is friendly. They have quite a few people eating there so they are doing something right.🌝
There has been some thoughts and creation to the menu.. I think if you’re here for the lunch special it would very much worth your money for a quick lunch. For dinner, there were so much varieties. I’ve choosen the spicy ramen no2 (it goes up to no5.. but I can only handle 2 😂) and beef tataki and tempura. Would be back and try others on the menu 👌🏼
Really love the Fuji Mountain,Beef Don!!!😋😋😋
Three generals are also tasty!!!
Grew Tea brûlée and black sesame Gelato are my favorite desserts!
Eight people only $210!! Really valuable
Nice lunch place here. They have good deal for lunch. Some dishes even less than 10 dollars. I love their cuury and beef don. Tempura is not bad too. Good for quick bite.
I tried this restaurant recently. Honestly, the food is so nice. Fresh and tasty. I especially like their udon noodle soup. The portion is good. The chicken came with udon was separately. Which is good for the customer. Price is so cheap. Would be busy for their lunch time but they have lunch special.
I love their Japanese soy milk hot pot for this whole winter and can not stop to go again. Fresh and yummy with natural flavor without any MSG. Seafood and Waygu just match perfectly. So tasty!!! Their tempura and sushi are good too. Overall it is a good restaurant to visit and dine in.
It’s a small Japanese restaurant in Newtown. But it gave me a big surprise for their food and service. The sushi is fresh and nice. Ramen is amazing. Staff is quite friendly and helpful for the customers. Quality is the most important thing for customer, and you do it well. Definitely a good restaurant to come back.
Went to this place for lunch. Ordered the teriyaki chicken udon (lunch special) for $9.90. The chicken is a side dish with carrots and onions, was very tender. The udon was very filling. Also great service
Went there for family lunch today again. I have to say this is the most affordable quality Japanese cruisine so far!
Sashimi is super fresh, the cut pieces are not thin at all.
Tempura plate is awesome! Super crispy and not over dried.
We also had the Japanese hot pot - you cannot miss this. They use fresh soy milk and miso soup as base. High grade Waygu beef & tofu are excellent too. Oh, don’t forget to order rice for the hot pot, use the soup to cook the rice again, which gives extra flavour!
For the quality, the price is very reasonable and LARGE serving. Will come back again and again!
Background and story (Every restaurant has the story and I am interested in sharing the story with you )
This restaurant has been changed the ownership since October 2017. As the previous owner had poorly operated this dinner, the new business suffered a cheerless time. But the situation gets better as the new owner (also the chef) spare no efforts on the raw material and the food itself. "I would rather spend money on the food quality rather than the decoration of the door and I cannot be bothered to do decoration or to change the old name since I had spent all my money on purchasing the restaurant and the food quality."
5/5 To Nyu Nabe (Fresh seafood and waygu with soy milk and miso paste soup)
It's authentic Japnese hotpot with the modern chef creation. The soup base is fresh and without any artificial additives, besides shrimps, blue swimmer crap, and waygu...are all directly purchased from Fish Market rather the Frozen package.
Highlight - please order rice and add into the soup after you finish the hotpot. The natural flavor of the ingredients and raw material perfectly march with the rice. Just several minutes, the fantastic porridge is done! The taste is unforgettable, it is the best porridge I had ever tried.
4/5 chicken ramen 🍜 You can choose different soup base and the portion is large! Fully satisfied with its flavour and quantity!
The chicken is served separately and it’s so tender! Really impressive!
4/5 spicy ginger chicken lunch set Large portion again! The chicken is well seasoned and tender! Besides the spicy ginger chicken dish, the set comes with fresh vege salad, miso soup, Japanese tofu and a big bowl of 🍚!!!
Ordered the lunch special for $13.00 you get a good Serving of teriyaki beef which was quite flavorsome, well cooked rice , salad which was dressed quite nicely , tofu was yummy and miso soup. Really good value for money. Ordered a side of sushi which was not bad either. Good value all around and staff and friendly, meals arrived quickly too.
Awesome food with fantastic tase and greasy value!! All the ingredients are fresh and juice. A great place for friends and family catch up, highly recommended!! Great experience
Great experience. Quite and relax environment. Gentle music. I really love the Octopus Set, which is $12.9 with everything you need for a healthy dinner.
I love the sushi here. We ordered some sushi combination. Sashimi was very nice, fresh and taste good. And the nigiri and the sushi roll called Dragon roll was nice too. Another dish very recommend is Tempura, it is the best Tempura Prawn I ever had in Sydney. Customer service is good. Will come again with friends and family. It is a very good place to dine in and relax with friends.
I just had great experience at Miyama today. We had delicious sashimi. The raw meats was fantasy!!! The spicy ramen was terrific!!!! Definitely come back again.😎
Fantastic food with amazing service and so, so cheap! The atmosphere was pretty awful - bad decor and zero music but loved everything else. Would head back here again for cheap eats!
I love the eel set. not too sweet .So delicious
Very nice and clean, tasty food and nice staff. Great!
Great food great value the best OX Beef lol i love it
Went there with a group of 3 friends last night, Firstly, the service was great. Meals came fast and tasted FANTASTIC, especially the salmon sashimi and katsu chicken.
Good value, not best quality in world! Not a lot of vego options. Also Korean menu items and obvious Chinese staff, call me picky.
A quiet, cheap and cheerful offshoot of its sister restaurant at Railway Sq, Miyama has fast become one of my favourite Japanese kitchens. The donburi is great, as is the Omusoba - a hard menu item to find in this Nippon laden city, and even harder to do well. Miyama takes me back to Osaka in both authenticity and price.
