Review Chicken Shop - Newtown

Stopped in with my son last night after a concert at the Enmore. The guy behind the counter had no people skills at all. We ordered 2 roast rolls with gravy (gravy was disgusting. Tasted like they drained the ocean of all its salt and put it into the gravy) and 2 kransky and we were charged over $40. Absolute rip-off of a place with terrible food. Avoid this place at all costs. 1 star is too many stars

The food is Very good in the store. But the Asian girl working at the front needs to be taught some manners and respect. I definitely understand the working on presser but it doesn’t mean that you take it out on peoples

Poor quality and terrible customer service, and also cannot complete a customer's request. If the pricing of the food is consistent on the menu you cannot complain about a simple request just to save a minimal amount of money that you wouldn't otherwise lose.

We were absolutely blind when we stumbled here to order some grub! The service was patient and friendly considering our state. The chicken - omg - was so damn good and hit the spot so well! It was juicy, moist, tasty.... out of this world! Lined the stomach perfectly for the hangover from hell the next day

Was great. Clean kitchen, kind staff, good taste. I ordered chicken schnitzel with salad and chips. Very fresh, crispy. Good price $13.90 Little bit small for me but not bad after gym. Maybe I can order one more salad or will tell them give me more salad hehe It looks so many but that paper container is not deep

the most amazing place to go after a night out, open super late and absolutely STUNNING food. Could not recommend enough

The firebreather lived up to it’s promise. The chicken was moist and tender and the spicy was spicy. The chips were fresh and crispy and the seasoning was lit. Idk what they’re putting on those chips but it’s goosfraba. I need to go back to try the risotto burger. This chicken chop has given me faith. I forgot to take photo because I’m a fatty.

Soooo expensive. I ordered 1 piece of southern fried chicken and 2 tiny chicken strips with a few spuds, it cost me over $18, the meal was average at best. Won't be going back anytime soon with those prices. Pretty disappointing and annoying.

Couldn't have found a better chicken shop!! Food is amazing!!! Been there 4 or 5 times since it opened and the food gets better and better every time!

As a Newtown local I have access to so much food and I can honestly say this spot is a standout. The meals are delicious, the chicken is tender, the staff are lovely and their is heaps of variety. Do yourself a favour and drop in.

I'm vegetarian so first I ignore this place but I tried it's vegetarian varieties and literally fall in love with its burgers. Too delicious!!

Fucking Rude dickheads No Customer service at all. The waiter who works there was too interested in sitting down and talking to her 'friend' than taking order or serve customers. I was really looking forward to trying this place(being a local) but NEVER AGAIN ��

Best Chicken in the inner west! Have been waiting so long for a place like this. The family loved it.

I waited 25 minutes for my food i ordered three pices of chicken that i finshed even before they started to think about my food i order 20 mins before oh i am sorry is all they could say when i waited 35 mins for onion ring's thats all i wanted

Just got chicken tenders & chips, tenders were old, chips were over cooked and cold and I had to wait....

Gross pink undercooked chicken. If I get sick I'm going to be so annoyed. Avoid at ALL COSTS

Great place for a midnight feed! Very affordable prices, the beef burger was only $15 and had super generous portions, fries were super crisp & had addictive seasoning on top & beef burger was juicy!<br/><br/>Their HOMEMADE AIOLI is a MUST! It is soooo tangy and goes so well with their fries! I love how they go the extra mile to make their aioli!<br/><br/>Chicken was pretty average, was a little dry and missing the juicy factor!

I had an allergic reaction to the pasta salad. Is it possible to know what ingredients were used? I asked the staff there but they were scared thinking I'll sue them and didn't give me any useful information. Please help. Need to know what is causing this reaction.<br/>Otherwise, the food is amazing. :)

The chicken burger had good chunky chicken but nothing special in the flavour. The fried wings came out of the hotbox but had a good flavour and crunchiness. Given the reasonable prices, it's perfectly acceptable food and it's open fairly late so particularly good for a drunken snack.

This place is average. <br/>It can get quite busy during the lunch time rush though as who wouldn't want chicken and chips for lunch everyday?! <br/>Unfortunately, the chicken can be a bit better and it was a bit dry.<br/>Not bad for a quick meal and was reasonably priced.

I happened to visit this chicken shop because one night it was very late but I felt really hungry and want to get something to eat. <br/><br/>The shop is next to the Newtown station. I picked up some chicken tender, and there were only a few left so I spent $6.5 for 3. However it is not delicious. It's absolutely not worth that price. The tender piece is small and dried.

Been here once, service was really friendly. They gave me a free chicken tender to try (I'm really indecisive), I ended up ordering the chicken tenders meal. Yummy chicken tenders, great crumb and not dry at all. The fries are really good.

The southern style fried chicken leg is a must try! I've never had a souther style fried chicken before and I don't know what the authentic one tastes like. But I do love the ones from the chicken shop!

Loooveeee the chicken wings and mac n cheese. The wings taste as though they've been marinating overnight, u can taste the flavour down to the bone! Mac n cheese had amazing flavour but the pasta could've been cooked a little less, overall still amazing! Customer service was great as usual! My go to when im in Newtown and need a quick feed.

Nah...this is NOT a chicken place I would recommend.  BBQ chicken was oily (pool of oil when I lifted it from container), and Southern Fried chicken was tasteless.  Cole slaw was 'ok', roasted veggies were dry.  Staff were quite nice, I'll say that.  But if you want good BBQ chicken from Newtown, you ABSOLUTELY can't beat Clem's (up the street, same side of King Street, about 5 blocks - an institution because they're damn good.  GREAT salads, chicken, customer service, chips, EVERYTHING!!!

Bought the old style chick burger in a meal and it was honestly the BEST burger I have ever had! Every flavour mixed so well and tasted so fresh! The chips are unique and so tasty! Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside which is how I love my chips. I'm so impressed I will definitely be returning even though I live 30+ miss away!!

Ok, so It's not charcoal chicken, but it's pretty tasty, simple and cheap. The chicken is grilled well, with even the breast quarter remaining moist. Only downside was that it was served lukewarm, which could be a result of the cold weather and large draught via three open doors. Stuffing is a free option and for $12 you also get a serve of chips and salad. Hand cut chips are the standout here, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. I'm not a fan of pre-made salads and this one was no exception, lacking in both seasoning and dressing. <br/><br/>Decor is relatively simple and classic, until you look up and realise mini-me is locked in a cage hanging from the ceiling. Slightly unnerving and creepy and not what I expected from a chicken shop, but this is Newtown so expect the unexpected. It is freezing here in winter and I hope staff consider closing some doors as the draught was intensely bone chilling. <br/><br/>

We left the bank hotel and was feeling hungry. Bought a whole chook, took it home, and discovered it's the e worse chicken I have ever had. The chicken was so dried, it must have been left out for hours. I thought I was eating rubber. Disgusting! I wouldn't feed my dog this. I regret paying $15 for a piece of dry rubber, and I wish was still at that shop so I can make a complaint to their face. These people have no conscience selling shit food and take your money, disgusting! Stay away from this shop.

Phenomenal chips. Best in Newtown. Crispy on the outside, soft inner, perfect seasoning. <br/><br/>The chicken's great too, good value and juicy. Great healthy array of salads too. New fav.
