Review Table 9 Restaurant - Newtown

Kevin C
Table 9 only do two dishes and I kind of wish more places were more like that. Because they do them really well. Well to be honest they do their pho better than their Laksa but it's still great. Their fungi Laksa below was choc full of a variety of mushrooms like enoki, oyster and button. Their portions are super generous for a great $15 price. Staple.

Very tasty beef pho soup with good quality beef; Laksa with the lot was generous with ingredients (seafood; chicken & mushrooms) and the soup had perfect balance of spice, creaminess & great flavour. Good value (average ~$15 per dish) for what you get. Highly recommend!

Forget the other Viet restaurants in Newtown because this new beauty absolutely blows them out of the water! How? Well it’s pretty simple - focus on two dishes - phó and laksa - and do them very well! The broth was piping hot, the noodles soft and the beef + tripe melts in your mouth. It’s also not oily so you walk away feeling fulfilled rather than overwhelmed. Even the fried and fresh spring rolls were great! The owner introduced himself to me and we spend a good ten minutes chatting about the business, his brother even works the kitchen! Don’t miss this place if you’re in the area!

It’s a fresh tasty bowl of beef noodle soup but I am not sure I can call this Vietnamese Pho as it does not have strong beef and herbs flavours in their broth. Hopefully it’s just a slip in the kitchen. If you are looking for a traditional bowl of pho then like me you would be disappointed. However, they used good quality beef. Perhaps just a tad too much MSG for my liking.

Beautiful laksa cooked with coconut milk and seafood stock. Tastes really great and full of flavour. Love it!

Finally a good Pho place on King St in Newtown. The best “Pho Dac Biet” on King St. The only place actually that does Pho the traditional way with beef brisket meat balls, tripe and tendons. The sliced Angus sirloin beef is tender and delicious if you don’t like offal.

Yummmmm! This is the nicest pho I have had in a long time! Great modern restaurant with a owner running it with his family there too. The table water has lemon and mint in it which makes it extra nice. Great value with a bowl of pho for $13! Highly recommend this place for a simple lunch solo or with friends/family.

Very nice place, good layout, friendly staff. I had The Rare pho, and it really hit the spot. Soup was flavorsome and the beef really added to it. More vegetables would be nice and some condiments and napkins on the tables would be better. Thanks Table 9, I haven't had Pho that good in a while.

Love this place, have tried the pho and laksa and they are both delicious (and great value) - the owners are extremely friendly and the food comes very quickly!

Good Bang for your Bucks. I'm all about value and Table 9 definitely does it for me. Pho and Laksa is something I must eat at least once a month. Fast, yummy, healthy, and a perfect hang over cure. The Laksa and Pho was way better than Fat Noodle the casino in every way. Prices, taste and even looks. Definitely a must try for Pho and Laksa lovers. Looking forward for Ramen on your menu.

Absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this place - the fact they have a limited menu speaks for itself. Quality food every time, been a regular for takeaway since it opened and it has yet to fail me. The seafood Laksa is next level chocker with seafood and the Rare beef Pho is for a Sunday recovery hug in a bowl! Cant move past either so couldnt judge the other dishes

Ordered the laksa and pho (which in hindsight, a restaurant that serves both should be a red flag already) and both dishes were terrible. The broth was subpar and the flavours werent there. It felt like it had just come out of the microwave. Would not recommend to anyone.

Opting to serve pho and laksa in a single restaurant is a brave choice, undertaking the challenges presented by the dichotomy of vietnamese cuisine and malaysian cuisine. This resulted in a sacrifice of quality regarding the pho as it slightly lacked flavour. The sauces on the side were only presented in one dish, removing the convenience of adding sauce as you please. Although the serving size of the laksa was generous the pho was lacking in size compared a plethora of vietnamese restaurants. However, the inclusion of a student discount makes this a worthwhile purchase despite its flaws.

Best Pho on King st, from what I've tried. Slightly more expensive (pho $14-16.50) for a premium product, using a home mad recipe from the Vietnamese chef.
Strong recommend to check it out.

The food was soooo good, reasonably priced I'll definitely come back again soon!
The vegan rice paper rolls were sensational both with or without the dipping sauce

We came here and were greeted with friendly table service and big smiles. Food presentation was amazing and flavour was on point. Definitely recommend the vermicelli noodle salads and the laksa. Definitely recommend and will be back again.

I was disappointed when the previous restaurant changed over as it was my go to vegan pho place. BUT I was pleasantly surprised how good this vegan pho was at table9. It was much nicer actually. Can't wait to come back. Vegan pho is my fave food. It had lots of different mushrooms, tofu, amazing broth and the large size will definitely fill you up. Must try!

The chicken laksa here aint too bad. The broth is quite diluted and didnt boast as much flavour compared to other places, but hey, lots of noodles and chicken. Liked how they put the bean sprouts on the side, very considerate since some people may not like it in the dish. Normally $13, it wont hurt your wallet. They do lunch deals as well so wont mind coming back.

If you’re looking for a quick hearty meal I highly recommend Table 9. The service is quick and the prices are great for the food quality. I had the large “The Lot” Laksa; it came packed with seafood so I’m one happy diner. There seems to be good attention to detail, will definitely be back to try the Pho.

Delicious phò and laksa. Definitely recommend the lot, it’s got everything and so filling. The price is unbeatable and great for students 😇

Had lunch at table 9 in Newtown yesterday.
The waiter was very friendly and welcoming. Their menu was simple. Either pho or laksa. I opted for the laksa with the lot.
The laksa was awesome. I also liked how they have 2 mussels with the standard tofu, chicken, prawn and other seafood.

For drinks I had coconut juice. They didn't just serve you those coconut juice from the bag where you buy it from the Asian grocery store. They actually serve you a real fresh coconut.

The overall experience was great. Price was reasonable.

Will definitely come back
