Definitely one of the best thai restaurants in newtown! Great value for lunch too can't beat $7.50. Sometimes if your lucky they will throw in their yummy sicky rice dessert for free during lunch times!
7.99 lunch special + everything is delicious and friendliest staff
Thai restaurant located in the end of Newtown towards to the city. Had the Beef Cashews with Rice, it was really good. This place is really affordable, it was 9 dollars per dish.
(To be continued)
Absolutely amazing, tastes great and the lunch special is a steal. This is especially true if you add some extras like chicken/veggies, it'll turn into a huge dish for one of the best prices ever.
One of the many Thai places on the King street strip. Alice’s Thai offers BYO, with generous portion sizes and very affordable prices! How can you beat that?? Perfect for those chill dinners and drinks with friends without breaking the bank. The food is also delicious with excellent service for BYO without corkage (hard to find in sydney). Great for groups of friends!
Came here for a reunion and got a ‘Vegetable and Tofu Pad Khi Mao’ - it was meant to be spicy but it was not spicy at all. Ask for no egg, no oyster sauce (vegan option), if you’re looking for vegan! The dish was smaller than expected so.. next time, I’d probably just get the Pad Thai as that looked larger. Otherwise dish was made quickly, tasted nice (nothing special though) and well priced.
Staff are also friendly! Surcharge on card payments so bring cash if you want to avoid that.
I've only ordered takeaway from this place and I think it's average. I probably should dine-in here one day as I'm sure the food's going to taste a bit different.
Friendly staffs, various choices in their menu. More choice than other restaurants which also provide lunch special. I like their deep fried pork (Moo Tod)
Oh the dilemma of where to eat when you're in Newtown! When the choices are too overwhelming, I always go to one place that never disappoints, Thai La Ong II. Yes, I can hear you say what a boring choice, but how can you pass up a reasonably cheap lunch, for $7 a meal you'll get a good eat that the whole family will love.
Yes, this may not be your usual 5-star dining experience, but the staff are attentive and with two levels lunching/dining area, there's plenty of table at anytime of day.
What about the food? There's plenty to choose from, most of your Thai favourites would be on the menu. I always have their Pad See Ew. Their Fried Rice with Vegetables and Fried Egg is also good and generous in size.
Yes, while in Newtown I like to go to the hip and trendy places, but sometimes I just want a good eat and great company without having to empty my wallet, and this place fits the bill!
Great lunch specials and waitress was lovely
Delicious food. Fresh ingredients. Great price. Amazingly quick service. The Gang Panang Chicken Curry was outta this world and for only $11! It's bunched inbetween a few other fancier looking Thai places but after tonights dinner we will most definitely be back!
This is probably my most Favourite Thai restaurant in Sydney, no joke. The pad khi mao and pad see ew simply cannot be beaten. I always compare other restaurants to this one! The curry puffs are also a favourite. Situated between two pretty fancy looking Thai restaurants youd probably miss this place if you weren't looking. I come here for lunch every week during my breaks being 10 minutes from Usyd campus. Who can say no to a $6.50 lunch special with generous servings !
10/10!. An amazing thai restaurant with delicious food and a great variety.
Lunch special is only 6.50!!!
You have to come- the serving sizes are huge - you could even share them between two!
THE GREATEST THAI PLACE ON EARTH!. The best thing probably on the meal is the bbq pork it is sooooooooooo amazing i just eat soo much of it. i go there at least 4 times a week and i always love the welcoming staff and the food is the best so anyone that hasn't been there should really go because the food is AMAZING!
I love this place!. I live really close to this place and I come here at least 3 times a week for lunch :) GREAT for students at lunchtime! Their Tom Yum soup is pretty good as well as other noodle menus :)
FANTASTIC PLACE. I had my bf's birthday here and we all had the best time, very clean and outdoor area for smokers.......3 rooms upstairs to choose from, you can dim the lights and it's byo and very friendly staff and in the heart of Newtown,Great food at a very great price..
The pad see yew was average but the service was on point. impressed at how kind the staff were (a new waitress in training did her best and was accommodating to a group with children) and of course i appreciate the incredibly fast service. The crispy pork was amazing and so was the chinese brocolli with chicken. Thanks for the yummy food.
Absolutely delish. Very generous portions.
Best cheap thai food I've had in Newtown and I've pretty much tried the lot. Their satay sticks are the best I've had in the area, pad cashew is great. Curries all brilliant, duck curry a must try. I loved the pad Thai with prawn and the pad hokkein with crispy pork. Have done pickup, uber eats and eat in and all have tasted great. Got pickup tonight and was surprised with a free bag of prawn crackers.
Yummo.
Had a Thai Green Chicken Curry from here last week as a lunch special for $7.50, and it was absolutely delicious.
Well balanced flavours, and the perfect amount of rice to soak up all of the sauce, it was indeed a very satisfying meal.
The staff were friendly and attentive. The food was served quickly, and the decorum was comfortable. I'll definitely be dropping in again on my next trip to Newtown, and I would definitely encourage you to give Alice's a go yourself.
I come here occasionally for lunch
The food is well priced but what I like is the option for additional meat at a flat fee listed on the menu.
The serving size is also better than neighbouring Thai places.
The only issue is that lunch time is cash only with no split bills.
