I am a regular here. My friends and I always get the chilli tofu hot wok. It is so addictive, and is served on a bed of chips, which is common in the Schezwan province apparently.w
My favourite Chinese place in Newtown. Pretty authentic. Like the gan guo 干锅. environment is nice, cosy and homely. Staff are also friendly.
Delicious food and a kind waitress. Just lost a star because the ambience wasn't great and her English wasn't the best. Would definitely go back!
Really love this place as a local and very authentic Chinese meal. The dumplings are incredible - very fresh and yummy. I also absolutely loved the fish soup - quite spicy, but an absolute treat.
The staff are polite and eager to help, very non-intrusive at the same time. I love coming back!
Great place! .....…........…............................... .....…........…............................... .....…........…...............................
Their BBQ is so so, but highly recommend their crispy duck and special fried rice. It's always quiet comparing to other Chinese or Asian restaurant in Newtown. I think it's because it's a bit hot sitting inside without air-conditioner or a good ventilate. Best fried rice in Newtown!
Decent Chinese food and quick delivery, got it after 30 mins. im surprised that there are so many complaints about their delivery time. The pan fried dumpling is good.

When a complete stranger suddenly gives you fish, that's Newtown. I am reminded of that old tv ad for Impulse body spray: "if a complete stranger suddenly gives you flowers, that's Impulse." Well that has never happend to me but tonight a Chinese lady I'v
Excellent food, great value: 4/5. This restaurant is great. I have eaten here a couple of times with friends, and every dish has been delicious, with authentic Chinese flavours. The service is warm, friendly and efficient. I would not heed the negative reviews below, several of which refer to a restaurant with a different name. This place changed hands and underwent renovations in 2014. The duck pancake entrees and generous servings of dumplings are essential. Bite of China is also great value. Both times I've gone with four people and ordered up and down the menu, but the bill has come in at around $20 a head.
Takeaway. If you're in the mood for home delivery or take-away, go no further! Excellent customer service, never late and the food is always good. Have yet to dine in the restaurant but if their service over the phone is anything to go by I'm sure it's great - well done Asian King!
The food was fantastic! I think they recently went under new management and had a makeover. The waitress was so nice and friendly. It was the best service I've ever seen! Will definitely go again and again!
I went to this restaurant on a recommendation and really enjoyed it. The service was excellent, and the food tasted good. I hope to come back to this restaurant soon.
This may only have been our second meal here however I think this is the best Chinese on king street. Really traditional. Great mains, the restaurant could do with a little more atmosphere, or make your own. Big thumbs up
ThIs place Is a little gem! Forget the Ashfield restaurants, this blows them all out of the water! I cook a lot of Chinese at home so I am often disappointed with restaurant food, but this is the exception. I can honestly say every dish I have tried here is great, especially for the price. My favorites are the dumplings, the salt and pepper squid, and the Peking style beef. Give it a go, if you don't like it then you don't understand Chinese food!
Just like Shanghai. Great Shanghai style dumplings. The other Chinese food seemed fairly standard, but I was really there for the dumplings.
The steamed mini-pork buns were gorgeously light and just a little bit sweet - delicious. The fried Shanghai dumplings had a thicker dough than I expected, but were still quite yum.
