Review 2t Newtown Bar - Newtown

Fantastic new Speakeasy on King St. The cocktails are impressive, try the Rattlesnake and the Cabron on Fire (if Mezcal is your thing). And the sticky sour chicken wings which they currently have on happy hour special are incredible!!

Came here for a friends birthday and had a lovely time. Staff were amazing and supportive, cocktails were fantastic and wine was lovely with lots of choice. Great atmosphere and run by lovely people who very obviously cared about the wellbeing of everyone there and the experience had by all. The manager was so lovely and she had no problem stepping in to help us out, which we all really appreciated. Thank you so much for the nice night out !

Service was cold & unfriendly, white wine was served warm. No bins in the ladies bathrooms & none of the locks on any of the bathroom doors worked. Might be because all the the staff (5?) were men. The out of place vaguely sexist neon behind the bar that doesn’t fit the rest of the decor is strange. Not sure what is going on here. I was marketed a far better experience than I got, really disappointed? Wine list is very average. Expected better from an inner west bar when the competition is so fierce, wake me when there’s a change of management

The best part of living in the inner west is the abundance of small bars and the local feel (correct me if I’m wrong!). Well, the new PGs perfectly captures that local, welcoming feel. The friendly bartenders are quick to ask your name and if you’re not sure what you want to drink they’ll sort you out no worries - they’re also very open to song requests. If you want a new friend, sit at the bar. If you want a chill time with friends take a seat at a table and you’ll be given a delicious drink and really lovely service.

Even with all the bars on King St, this has fast become my favourite. It’s a great place with great drinks and enthusiastic bar tenders. They’re very happy to whip up a non-alcoholic beverage to your liking. The music is charmingly soft enough to actually hold a conversation, which is an oddly rare thing in Sydney. It’s the place that looks like a library from the outside if you’re ever confused!

I was really excited to get to PG's, but sadly more than disappointed by my experience. The decor and feel of the bar is great, but the service was the real let down. Arriving out of the rain there were just two others enjoying a wine in the bar.. the two bar staff looked over at us as we entered, but were having a conversation and did not greet us, and we still then had to interrupt and ask for their attention when we got to the bar. When we asked for a cocktail menu the barman pointed. No words, just pointed. So we selected our cocktails and a charcuterie board and ordered. Short of how much the order came to, I don't think the barman shared one word with us. Cue one delicious and well-presented cocktail, and one that looked kind of sad and tasted unbalanced and short of the 60mL of spirits usually found within. The (again, wordless) arrival of the charcuterie board didn't initially impress, but I was potentially just disappointed by how underwhelming the experience had been thus far because it was generous, had a great selection of flavours and was overall very tasty. I don't like to leave a bad review, but was genuinely disappointed in my visit that differed so much from the warmth and service we usually experience, and really value, in local small bars. Hopefully the feedback is important to you and useful.

I just wanna say THANK YOU to the staff and owner of 2t 💕 I carelessly left my bag last night in the bar and realized too late. The staff went out to find me but we were already far ahead. I contacted them (good thing their number is in public media) and the owner was kind enough to open accommodate me early in the morning today even if the bar is supposed to open later at 5pm. They kept my bag for me, all things intact. Will definitely encourage friends to come here and their cabernet sauvignon is good 😊 cheers!

Service here is appalling. Have been twice and on both occasions was not acknowledged ever at the bar. Staff were always in the midst of a conversation and I had to actively interject to get them to serve me (even when the bar was empty). They overcharged on a round of drinks and the bar guy seemed upset that he had to rectify the change given. Might just be teething issues, however I would suggest stepping up their game a little bit as there are far better bars within eye shot of the place.
