Interesting menu, sophisticated interior design, friendly young staff and sensational Hawaiian/ Japanese inspired food make this a welcome addition to the eclectic Newtown food scene.
Loved the dishes we ordered, had the wings and spicy edamame to start with, I had tuna shoyu, hubby had salmon with wasabi mayo, ordered side of eggplant which was delish. Service is great, will be back
The freshest and most interesting poke bowls I've had in Sydney so far, and it's an underrated gem because in the restaurant-rich suburb of Newtown, its position just off busy King St is not particularly conspicuous. Without a doubt, the ubiquitous Salmon poke bowl is first class, but the less-common Grilled Octopus poke and Hawaiian BBQ Wagyu Beef poke also demands your attention, especially the former. There is a ton of umami flavour with each mouthful, and while the wagyu beef was a tad chewy, it was still a good bowl of poke. Don't forget the sides either. The Spam Fries were top-notch with the batons of Spam covered in panko crumbs and deep-fried to a golden crunch. And lastly, the dessert we tried (Mahalo Halo) was excellent. It was refreshing, not too sweet, a large enough serving for two, and a joy to eat with the different ube components and various textures.
Fresh & tasty poke bowls tucked away in Newton. Very friendly service and a great variety of both traditional and different poke bowl flavours. Particularly liked the denguku eggplant poke!
Definitely one of the best poke bowls I've had. Good balance of different ingredients. I got the Tuna Wasabi-mayo poke bowl. I do think it's a little overpriced at $22 hence the 4 star rating rather than 5. Great service. Only small tables inside so not appropriate for large groups.
A friend brought me here. The food was great! Ingredients are so fresh and taste good. I love the spicy salmon poke bowl!! It’s now definitely one of my favorite restaurant for poke bowl! Quite surprised that they don’t get a high rating. It should deserve more stars!!
I like their marinated tuna poke bowl.
I like toke n poke because they marinate their fish so it is packed with flavour. I dont like poke bowl places where they just diced up the fish only because it is bland.
Place is good. Not ideal for big groups they only have 1-2 tables that can accomodate 4 people.

This place has the best Pokes I have ever tried. I live very close, so I am planning to come here whenever I can. Nice atmosphere, very kind boss and the best Poke.
If this place were close to home I'd come here all the time! Delicious, fresh and healthy Poke bowls. Just enough variety on the menu. Came here with two friends and my boyfriend. It was probably the healthiest thing they'd eaten in a while but they enjoyed it! Apparently the chicken wings are really spicy! On the pricey side for casual dining, but when you consider the lovely service, friendly atmosphere and great food . . . no regrets.
PS. There are arcade games! Try and beat the owner. :P
Great service, food has been super fresh and delicious both times I’ve eaten here and is literally presented like their photos. Looking forward to coming back and trying the whole menu. It’s great to have a healthy option that tastes this amazing!
Great food. Very fresh and healthy options. Nachos are a must! , great atmosphere, very friendly staff. Best poke I’ve tried in Sydney hands down. Very authentic with a slight twist! Will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu.

I lost my poke-ginity here and I’m so glad I did! Amazing! The special grilled octopus bowl is my favourite and I’ve been back several times since. Cool venue, amazing service and of course, the food is out of this world! Highly recommend 🕺🏼
Me and my partner heard that this is the hippest place to be and we decided to take up the suggestion. We loved the atmosphere, flavours, decor, friendly helpful staff and amazing menu.
I'm a big eater and after the Poke Bowl that I ordered, I was content with one being Salmon and the other with Tuna. I'd pick both again, the ingredients tasted fresh along with the sauce, herbs, with a little kick of spiciness.
Service was quick and staff was quick to help us. I love the nostalgic two arcade to entertain if you had kids. Highly recommended and definitely coming back.
Had the salmon spicy mayo and it was full of textures and flavours — crunchiness from the wakame, tomatoes, fish roe, baby spinach and edamame complements the salmon, avos and rice. However, the dressing was a tad too spicy for my liking. Service was prompt and friendly, with my takeaway ready in 5 minutes (NB I went at 6ish in the evening on a weekday when the restaurant was pretty empty) and staff were willing to accommodate to my dietary requests. As someone who typically indulges in unhealthy food but is seeking a change, this restaurant is a good transition point. Would visit again.
My partner and I discovered this hidden gem the other day. I ordered the Spicy-Mayo Tuna Poke bowl and my partner had the Wasabi Poke Nachos. They both packed a lot of flavour and the tuna was heaps fresh. Pricing was pretty decent for Newtown. Would definitely come back to try the rest of the menu :)
Absolutely loved their spicy salmon poke bowl and the katsu shoyu noodle soup. Also had the Mahlo Halo as a treat and it was so so delicious. The food provided was fresh, full of texture and flavour and the portions were worth the money. Would recommended and go again and again!
Fav poke bowl place in Newtown, great combination of things in their bowls! I get the spicy salmon mayo every time and it never disappoints! 🍣🥢yummy! Pricey enough for a salad, but so delicious it is worth the $20 for a large!

I've been to Toke N Poke now numerous times. ...always for lunch (the light that comes in through the frosted glass walls is so nice). My husband and I are working our way through the menu. We love everything we've tried so far and really can't fault it. The chef obviously loves texture as there are many his dishes that have it: the nori taco shells (these babies don't break up when you bite into them like a normal corn-based taco shell - genius!) and the Veggie Tempura Patch (I think!) has a lovely stiff veil of [something!] across the bowl which you must poke with your chop sticks to access the tempura. The ceremony of it is so lovely ...AND the Poke is great! This place makes me feel like there's more to food than just really good taste. ...that it wants you to experience more. ...can't put my finger on it. ...and the service is great - we've been served by two key floor staff who know how to deliver good service in an intimate space. Anyhow, we'll be going back again and again and again.
I love getting my Poke Bowl fix here! Always amazing servings and the food is great. They make an attempt to always remember your name and seems to really treasure the relationship between customers. Will always come here for my comfort food!
