Review Mister Hoffman - Niddrie

samuel crowley
The venue itself is comfy, light and a perfect size with an alleyway eating area. The staff were fantastic ! Very friendly and attentive. We arrived at 9am on Sunday and it wasn’t too busy at all which is always preferred for an intimate breakfast. The coffee was wonderful, one of the best I’ve had in Essendon! The only thing that let this place down a smidge was the salmon scrambled eggs. The serving was quite small with minimal amounts of salmon and quite overpriced for what was served. The brekky burger was really tasty, especially with the beetroot relish ! The fried egg in the burger was undercooked though :( I will eat here again but will make sure not to order the salmon scramble eggs 🥚

Great menu, friendly service and staff. Nice find in the middle of the suburbs.

My local cafe and it's a good one. Super friendly staff, excellent coffee, delicious food, and a great atmosphere. Whether you're local or not, this is a great place to catch up with friends, have a coffee over business, or grab a quick bite. Highly recommend!

First day out of lock down and had to try this place for myself after hearing good things from family. Very happy with the atmosphere and the sweet service from the staff. The coffee was okay, with a bitter burnt taste to it. The food was decent. The vegan pancake was fluffy but could have done with more flavour. A pancake with yoghurt seeds and fruit on top didn’t make for a special experience. Luckily, the breakfast burger made up for it. Coming in with two slider sized burgers, the fried egg was cooked perfectly as was the bacon. Soft fluffy bun and the sauce made for a wonderful breakfast. Pretty happy with this place and looking forward to trying something new next time.

The best cafe in the area. We are regular customers. Every time the coffee is on point and meals are delicious! Staff are friendly and service fast. I'm in love with the gluten free vegan pancake. Thank you for offering such an extensive range of gluten free options. This is too one of the reasons I keep coming back.

So glad I found this cafe. Its a real gem. Fresh, quality ingredients with a great menu. Coffee is also one of the best in the area. Staff also very attentive and polite.

The nice reviews and pictures made me excited to meet this place, and it didn’t disappointed at all! Cozy vibes and beautifully designed, the decoration makes you feel relax. The room is quite small though, but they have a really good space between the tables to make you feel comfortable. I ordered a nice mocha and the “Avo on homemade crumpets” and I couldn’t have chosen better! The crumpets, Vegemite and “crunchy seeds”(have no idea how they call) make the dish go to another level! Beautifully arrange, in looks and taste. Finished with a green juice, very fresh. One sentence: have to go ✨ Ah, the staff are very friendly too! Great job guys!!

If attending on a Friday and planning to dine in, might be best to book a table. On the Friday we attended we sat outside to have coffee, however, although a gas outdoor heater was on, our group was still feeling the cold. An indoor table was requested and the very friendly staff advised that we would be moved inside as soon as a table became available. After approximately 15 minutes our group was ushered inside. Our orders included chicken schnitzel wraps, pumpkin soup and chips. The food was fine except for the chips, they didn't appear to be freshly cooked. As the café is a little away from the busy Keilor Rd, parking is not as difficult to find, lots of residential streets nearby. A pleasant café stop overall.

Everything was amazing. It has a great visual vibe, the food was amazing (breakfast burger special, best muffin of my life), great coffee, and exceptional staff. It was very very busy when I was there but still didn't feel rushed or crowded. Couldn't recommend it higher.

Went in the School holidays for brunch with a few friends and despite being super busy we got served in a timely manner and the Benedict on rosti was tremendous. Coffee was great too - definite hidden gem of Essendon

Great coffee, good environment, smiling staff, always love a meal at Mr Hoff as it's our local cafe. For constructive feedback though when this cafe opened I believe the bread supplier was the bomb but its lacking that aspect these days(bring back that rye😜) as it was delicious. I believe with cafes they shouldn't venture away from the originals that got the loyalty to begin with, but no biggy. My friends and I will return as this cafe still holds the benchmark for the area👍

Outstanding food, love the new specials. Generous helpings too! Coffee is always great. Great, friendly staff!

Second visit in a week - the decor, character, charm and atmosphere is wonderful. The coffee is sensational and the menu offers variety & is delicious. My 8 year old says 'the best chips I have ever eaten!'

Amazing! On sunday afternoon we received some great service, cant wait to go back! The staff are lovely, and the food is great!
Bec Ferris
Great coffee, good food but most importantly the friendliest staff you will find at any cafe in the Niddrie and Essendon area.
Earl Minta
Was there yesterday afternoon for the first time with friends who are regulars. The food was great, hot drinks were nice and hot and the service was always with a smile and banter. If i could make one recommendation, it would be to have French Earl Grey (loose leaf) in the menu. 5/5 for food (chorizo in my breakie was cooked just right), service and cleanliness. As a fussy diner, i will be there again. Earl.

This is a awesome place a gem in the district I highly recommend it to all☺ food and service out of this world !!!

I loved it and so did the kids (which rarely happens). Great coffee and delicious meals. Well done.

Great customer service, awesome coffee and variety on the menu for food.

Love this little cafe on Hoffmans Road, came here to have coffee and it was good. The coffees were good and the decor inside was lovely. Will need to come back again for their brunch options
Mjloco
My new favourite local! Food was really tasty, and came out quickly despite the cafe being packed! Service was noticeably friendly and employees were knowledgeable about what was on the menu. Can’t wait to go back next weekend!
Sam Parker
Favourite brunch spot! We love Mister Hoffman, the avocado on toast option and eggs benny are my favourite, generous servings and great coffee! Such a gorgeous fit out, always leave happy!
John
Perfect local brunch spot. Straight to the point, fantastic menu (no hipster, gourmet duck leg rocket poached egg rubbish), great staff and great value.
Dijana
One of my favourite places I’ve eaten brunch in the west. The food was so very delicious. The service was great and the cafe itself was very cute. Were seated outside on a pleasant sunny day! I look forward to coming back here 😊

We came here for a quick hot drinks with our little one on the cold wet morning. They served very delicious chai latte 😍😍😍 the smell of brewed chai jst beautiful and delicious. The staffs are so friendly and make sure we were all served . They offered us to sit inside as we were gonna sit at the back , think because they saw us came with our little one, very thoughtful of one of the staff. Offered to ask the other customer to share the communal seats .
Def need to come back to try their food.
Also there’s near by playground , just Incase the little one get bored.

Came in early on a Sunday before the brunch rush. Staff were eager to take our coffee & food orders at the beginning but once the crowds rolled in they were busy & hard to catch for any further drinks orders.
Food was beautifully presented and an enticing menu. Would come back for sure.

Perfect lazy Sunday brunch destination at your service @mister.hoffman.cafe This gorgeously styled cafe is so charming and breathes relaxing vibes all day long. I’ve found another mini escape near home - yay! We tried the open chicken tacos and the hot cakes with vanilla bean ice cream 🤤 so good. The staff are friendly and given the indoor outdoor options for around 40 people it’s that perfect balance of busy but peaceful. Highly recommend you get down there this summer and take a seat outside, grab a magazine and sip some coffee for that r&r feel.
+ great decor and relaxing restaurant vibe, good food and coffee, staff were friendly and accommodating
- had to wait 15 minutes for my friends meal to arrive after mine, staff were a bit slow to take orders, no cushioning outside along the windows
Zacquilinelao
It was really nice and the service was above average. My meal was a little too heavy for my liking but the flavours were definitely there. The portion was a bit too big for me haha. The vanilla milkshake was really different and really nice! Overall, a great experience

Mister Hoffman is a great local cafe, just situation amongst a small strip of shops in Niddrie. The menu is really good with mouth watering options to choose from. Staff friendly and cafe cosy and comfortable.

My partner and I ordered the juice of the day, yum that was so refreshing! The watermelon, apple and there was another ingredient but I have forgotten!! lol was very nice and I thoroughly enjoyed drinking it.

We ordered the hickory smoked trout with an addition of a poached egg, this was nice although I didn't enjoy the pumpernickel bread, I wasn't fond of the sweetness and would of preferred just a toasted rye or sourdough toast. Of course, this is my personal opinion and am sure other people would enjoy the dish as it is. The trout was plentiful too which was great! No holding back there. The maple glazed chicken thigh burger was the other dish ordered and wow what a burger! It was huge with a lovely filling inside and the side of chips were crunchy and delicious.

Will definitely be back to try the coffee and other items on the menu.
Im Here To Eat
I love Mister Hoffman. Like I really love it. Allpress coffee, clean eats and just a bit of refinement when it comes to breakfast/lunch (gotta stop saying brunch so much). I love the mister big, the mini chicken schnitzel burgers (not sure if they are still a thing). Have yet to dive into their granola's, chia's and sweeter options. See you Sooooon Mister Hoffman!!
Melb Brunch Queen
Delicious meal, freshly squeezed juice was amazing and great customer service. Quaint decor awaits you when you arrive making you feel right at home

We love this cafe! The food is seriously good - the gluten free toast is the best I’ve ever eaten! The coffee is rich, strong and piping hot and the breakfasts are really delicious! This is my fave Sunday morning with my husband and toddler - the service is friendly and the outdoor seating is lovely with really good heaters and blankets to keep you cosy.
Fat Tony
Excellent place to have lunch. The place has a good menu and large portions on the plate. The magic coffee was so good we both had two. Watch the time because there was mainly one hour parking across the street. Oh yes the staff were very polite and friendly.
Melbournefoodie
A bustling little cafe that is popular with locals. Located right next door to a small playground for parents with children. The food is fresh and the coffee is good although, a little bitter. Their fresh juices are excellent. Personally, I’d love to see the avocado in their avo dish cut into small slices and an extra component e.g. beetroot/hummus/dukkha garish added to tie the dish together.
RukiFoodi
Loved everything I’ve ever tried on the menu here. Great coffee and I love the coffee cups and the entire decore here.
Will be back for more
Giovanna Isabella
This is my favourite local brunch spot. This place hits the mark everytime. The space is open and fresh. Staff are lovely, knowledgeable and very accommodating. The food though! It's so good. You will have your usual favourites listed with a twist and great fresh quality. I would higly recommend the Benedict on Rosti and the sparkling cold drip coffee, you won't regret it!
Meeee Hungry!
Well what a find! Keen for a brekky to wait out the peak hour traffic after an airport run and thought Mister Hoffman looked cute on the app...and it was in real life too. Was a bit confused when we saw the takeaway shop on the corner (also named something with Hoffman in the title) and wondered if I was about to be disappointed. But realised we just needed to go a couple more doors up! The place was lovely, buzzing with morning coffee goers. Staff were very friendly. Really enjoyed the peanut hot chocolate with macadamia milk - id travel back just for that. Great hot choc option. The porridge was also delicious, great flavour and great toppings to enhance it. Yummo! Will def be back next morning flight!

After being introduced to Mister Hoffman’s by a friend, I’ve fallen in love ever since! A beautiful location, away from the busy roads in Niddrie, you can never go wrong! I come here almost every single weekend, the food and coffee is absolutely amazing every time!
There’s a wonderful vibe there and the staff are very welcoming and helpful! Highly recommend if you’re looking for a cute, cosy cafe that’s actually worth it! :)
Edward Alexander
MH offers great coffee and hot chocolate. Today’s order was the breakfast wrap. Although tasty it wasn’t overly filling if you’re a big breakfast kind of person. Suggest the Mister Big if you’re wallet’s feeling generous. Always a good atmosphere & friendly staff
Batsu
A regular coffee spot for me. Don't eat here much, but haven't been disappointed when I have. More importantly, the coffee has always been good, and the staff are accommodating, and friendly.
Steve Palamaras
Very welcoming, polite staff. Food and beverages came in a timely matter and would definately recommend and revsiit next time I'm in the area
Mister Hoffman is nice hidden gem that offered delicious food, coffee and great service! I ordered BBQ Maryland chicken from the specials menu. It was tasty, flavoursome and the chicken was cooked really well! Will definitely go back to try the rest of the menu!
Jenna B
Food was good and lots of gluten free options! Service was really good in that everyone was super friendly and helpful but one meal came out later than the rest and a coffee about 15 minutes after the other two. A very cute place though I would come back
Brunch Enthusiast
Cute little cafe in Niddrie! Never to busy! Staff extremely accommodating to my fussy eating! Food is amazing, great selection, lovely staff. Enjoyed my chai bowl. Would 100% come back.
Mj
What a cute little cafe. The venue is great, little outdoor seating area and comfortable. Loved the menu but found the portion size very small for the cost. But it was definitely delicious. Only down fall my friends ordered the avocado on toast and you had to smash it yourself, this wasn’t convenient at all and they were quite frustrated trying to cut the hard avocado up that was still in its skin. I guess it’s a new idea but people don’t come out for breakfast and pay so much to “construct” their own breakfast. Otherwise overall the staff were so lovely and coffees and juices were amazing. Just the food was a little disappointing. Will def come back to try something else in the menu.

I've visited Mr Hoffman twice now. First visit I had the pulled pork slides which were excellent - a good balance of sweet and savoury. Thoroughly enjoyed my visit, coffee is good too. However my low score is based on my second visit experience where I had the avo and toast - a staple favourite of mine. Nowhere on the menu did it mention this dish is 'deconstructed'. Come on guys, no one wants to be paying almost $20 for a half Avo, small piece of goats cheese and an egg on toast... deconstructed avo toast was a two minute movement in the hipster food fad of Northcote a few years ago. By the time I had 'constructed' my food the rest of my table had finished their meals, including some bizarre black charcoal salt which turned my fingers legit black. Constructing a dish is the chefs job, get on it guys.
WillAfon
Awesome cafe. Love the staff, vibes, fit out and food. Only knock is the prices however that's pretty standard in the area. Have tried a few things but my favourite would be the Mister big. Will be back soon
SM
Really liked this place for brunch the coffee was good and service was spot on. The fritters were really nice and the bread was nice and thick. Definitely going back here !!
ThatGirlAlice
Had a tasty meal here and would head back. Flat white was very flat and tasty! Breakfast burgers were very delicious and my friends baked eggs received a good review. Was very busy when we arrived but staff were attentive and very accommodating and we got a table soon after. Beautiful aesthetic and the pink tiles in the bathroom are amazing.

Not going to lie, I only made this account just to write this review , yeah I'm one of those people. Whilst waiting for my takeaway coffee not only did I witness how frantic and stressed the staff looked, they were all over the bloody shop! Maybe I'm spoilt for choice where I live in Brunswick but bloody hell its not a good look for your staff!
The thing that got me was sitting on the table closest to the kitchen next to that bloody door nobody can use, and I saw one of the 'chefs' drop tongs onto the floor pick them up and continue using them. That kitchen looked like a right mess there was just shit everywhere how can someone work in that filth! I'm thankful I just got a takeaway and nothing more.
D
They make a decent coffee at this place and the staff usually go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Only downside is that they're a tad expensive so I usually avoid meals and go with a muffin.
Our Foodie Finds
"You have to try it out!" she said, a friend advised having just come from Mister Hoffman herself.

Located on the bustling Hoffman Street which is about 500 meters from the main Kielor Road strip, Mister Hoffman invites you into a warm cosmopolitan chic environment that is both homely-warm and urban-stylish so if you're after a great brunch location that is both the place to be seen and serves up delicious food with great service (and a place with good photo ops) Mister Hoffman is the place for you.

We sat in the outdoor area which had blankets available as well as being heated by the standing heat lamps. The staff are warm, polite & very attentive despite it being quite busy; they certainly had everything under control. Coffee orders up first; strong, to wake up the senses and then some breakfast: Avocado Toast $17.0 which was just smashed avo but had delicious meredith goats cheese and quinoa long with a few othet things that made it the perfect combination served on sourdough. Californian Chicken $23.0 was a hyped version of chicken and waffles except the waffle wad in the shape of an ice cream cone and there was fresh and delicious fruit. How did it taste? Pretty amazing! A perfect combination of sweetness and saltiness however...the chicken was dry (a bit over cooked) and could have made the meal a 10/10 had it been juicy and tender but hey, you cant win them all and...it was still delicious.

We shall return again to feast on some more delicious offerings that Mister Hoffman has on the menu but till then, this is Our Foodie Find!

The food and service were very good!
They have the best hash browns EVER.
It's a pretty cafe but very busy during the weekend.
I highly recommend for breakfast!
Rebecca Love
Venue is cute and retro and spacious. Husband enjoys coming here especially to have brunch when he needs to catch up with a client for his business. Food is good, never oily, placements of garnishes look good, however in saying that the menu has gone on a price hike and so the dishes aren't as great as once before.
Andy
Service was speedy and we were greeted immediately and politely. The menu is standard, however the portion sizes accomodate very well. Options to sit inside or outside. Recommend an early arrival!
Sarah Schmitz
Close to home, it's a nice refreshing place with nice attentive staff.
The Menu has nice items on, I tried several items and they have all been yum, the portion get's quite small if you don't want the bread though.
Erica Roccioletti
Super cute & modern cafe with amazing quality coffee. The food was nice, but slightly cold. The staff were friendly and service was great. However my eggs were slightly bland and a little runny! Their plate decorating is also amazing.
Graham Scown
Arrived and was seated straight away I found it setup reasonably good with tables inside and out service is great with very friendly waiting staff I was given my large capuchino first but thinking the bowl with the spoon in it was sugar I put a spoon full in and to my shock discovered by taste it was actually salt lol to save myself from embarrassment I did not worry about it then not long after a waitress appeared at my table with another capuchino saying they were very sorry they gave me the wrong one I think they seen me put the salt in and out f goodness replaced it the food was great although a little bit more pricey but still atmosphere service and the coffee and food was excellent and I highly recommend others trying this place and will come come back another day to try lunch
Stephen Matthews
Great brunch on a sunny winter day. Very friendly service and a comfortable place to relax. The pulled pork Benedict on rosti with cider hollandaise was excellent and generous. Also at the table was the smashed avocado with poached egg and Meredith goat's cheese, which was also tasty and filling. Also great coffee and juices. This place us sure to become a regular brekkie stop when we're in town.
Must Be Hungry
These days pretty looking dishes make you always wonder: can they walk the talk? Well, Mister Hoffman can indeed walk the talk 😀.

I stumbled on this cute venue just by chance and I am so glad that I did. Impeccable interior and charming staff lead by manager Simon welcome you and make you feel very comfortable 😄

I ordered their Avocado Smash which it arrived only 5 minutes later and gosh that looked pretty. Beautifully plated, this pink plate contains just gorgeous and delicious produce that will make you want to come back for more and more 😍

Definitely MBH APPROVED.
Moneta Tan
Came here for brunch and the menu is so big! I had the vegetable fritters and my boyfriend had the schnitzel burgers. Was lovely but we were still a little hungry after. Maybe we're just pigs 😂
TheyCallHimX
Driven past this place hundreds of times. So was nice to finally check it out. Glad we did too. Really cosy cafe with really friendly and attentive staff.

I went in looking forward to the Rueben. But the menu had changed which saddened me. However the fritters made up for it!

Coffee was decent. Food was delicious. We will be back for sure.
Natalie Carter
Absolutely gorgeous, spot on service, beautiful interior, delicious food, spot on customer service. Only thing is change is perhaps a couple more brekkie options, maybe something savoury bit light? Either way a happy regular here
Maddie Campbell
This has become my favourite place for breakfast in the area, I myself work in hospitality at a near by cafe and have never eaten such a good smashed avo in my life! The sourdough bread is thick and easy to bite into, the avocado is always fresh and I'm not sure if they add lemon to it but whatever it is I love! The bacon is always brought out cooked to perfection and never with any fat (how I like it). There orange juice is so refreshing and not overly sweet which compliments the crushed avo. Interior is so cute, it's small but has a warm friendly vibe to it, staff are also very friendly, the only thing would be the tables outside are pretty small but I'm not one to complain.
Overall I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone, a cafe in this location has been needed for years and I'm glad I've found my go-to!
Kiss And Eat Up
Love this little neighbourhood nook of a cafe that knows how to make a good Chai latte . Friendly service to match . Good indoor / outdoor seating options but agree with needing some outdoor heating for the chilly Melbourne mornings. Great kids menu to boot . Dive head first into the banana bread here.
Emily
Such a cute little cafe with a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. The food was cheap, good quality and the staff were attentive and really nice. Will definitely visit again.
Danielle Cullen
Coffee 👌🏼
Food (breakfast) 👌🏼
Service 👌🏼
Décor 👌🏼
Such a delight.
Lots of hustle and bustle on the street in the mornings before school, however there is gorgeous courtyard seating if you want to be outside yet away from the road.
Rose123
I'm really disappointed to learn that they have dropped avocado off the big breakfast without any amendment to the price. Where it once cost $23, it will now cost $27 for the same thing. For two people plus coffee you are spending over $60 on breakfast. The exorbitant prices have meant on average the big breakfast is $10 more than competitors such as Dear Abbey and Friends of Ours. What once was a regular spot for me and my family has now become a strictly special occasion brunch spot.
Sarahahodgson
Went for Sunday morning brunch with my boyfriend.

We both had eggs benedict and coffee. Everything was delicious. The coffee was very well made and the meals were great. I was skeptical about the apple cider hollandaise sauce but it was really delicious and buttery. I will be coming back to have it.

Service was good and our order came quickly.
Irene Stokes
Had lunch here today. Great menu, courteous and efficient staff and very nicely decorated cafe with both inside and outside seating. The avocado on toast was delicious but there are so many other items on this menu that I will need to try so plan to come back soon.
Kris A
Have been wanting to try this place for a while. Every time I drive past it's always busy. Popped in today for breakfast and was seated on a table outside which was way to small and very awkward to sit at. Service was ok. Ordered the avocado toast with a side of bacon and a poached egg. When it arrived it was nothing like I was expecting. Yes it looked pretty but the avocado was mashed and placed in a heap in the middle of the plate. Not sure how long it had been mashed for before I got it but it was going brown like it had been sitting out for to long. The goats cheese was a square of cheese to the side of the avo. Would have been much better if this was mashed though the avocado rather than both being placed separately on the plate. The mushrooms were tasty but covered in a thick gravy like substance which after 2 bites was all I could taste. The poached egg was more like a hard boiled egg placed on top of cardboard like "toast" and don't even get me started on the bacon...a total disappointment!
FoodingAroundMelbourne
Thoroughly enjoyed breakfast here. Lots of seating options inside and out, perfect for a long brunch come the warmer weather. The seating outside would benefit feom a heater for the cooler days so as to get full use of it. Food was in good portions and lots of variety. Staff were friendly as well. Zucchini and corn fritters were probably the best I've had, and I've had a fair few. Chai latte however was served without the glass being full which is a pet peeve of mine.
Vegemite Girl
We had brunch today and it was delicious.
We sat outside and even though it was cool, it is well sheltered from the wind (although I reckon a heater would really set it apart). Grey fleece blankets are provided and are a nice touch (i used mine). For drinks we ordered chai latte, green tea, hot chocolate and iced coffee. Green tea was really nice (i dont usually like it) and the iced coffee and chais looked nice. However- the chai wasnt even 125ml so wont be ordering that again (see picture, that was all - didnt even fill a small cup). We had fritters, eggs benedict with ham hock, muesli, beef slider with chips and toast with mushrooms. These were all good. My toast and mushrooms were the best i have had.
Rebecca E
Small but sweet venue. Loved all the styling inside the cafe and the plating of the food - so pretty and precise. I had a chai latte with macadamia milk, made a plate of sides (toast, Avo, mushrooms & tomato) & then had the chia pudding. Not much to fault! The tomatoes are served full sized which was a nice change, but the toast was quite hard - might be easier with a stronger knife. Great service, food and presentation.
A.Radesign
Bright and early mornings are perfect at Mister Hoffman.

All the staff members are great and the menu is just enough!

Recommend heading here if you're a local and want to experience something fresh! I thought the value for money and location works well.

Fritters and Croquets are the way to my heart, so naturally Mister Hoffman won me over. The coffee is also done well!!
Lily Kelcey
Gorgeous little local spot with great service & food. There were a lot of little details as well that I found really unique including the blankets hung over the chairs outside & also the fresh mint in the water bottles. Only flaw in our time here was that the sourdough bread was really difficult to eat, we spent more time cutting the crust then eating but that's not the cafes fault, I just hope this trend of sourdough bread goes away soon
MelbourneVita
Breathing life into the old Hoffmans Road shopping strip, Mister Hoffman is the latest addition to the quickly growing inner west café market. The fit out, both in and outdoors is stunning, it’s light and airy with pastel details throughout. It’s quite a refined space and marks a step away from the converted warehouse/industrial style cafes we’ve grown accustomed to. I genuinely loved the feel of it and I can understand why it’s always packed full of locals. Word is bound to travel around town and before you know it people will be coming from all over to visit this pretty eatery. However a word of warning, there is limited indoors seating so it may be difficult to get a seat on a cold day, but on the upside the beautiful outdoor courtyard is the perfect place to spend a summers day.

I have been to this charming cafe a number of times now for brekky and have been impressed with every meal and coffee. Their staff are very attentive and helpful which I always appreciate. I would definitely recommend the breakfast sliders to anyone visiting to eat in the morning.
Niks
Food was great and plenty of it for the price. Drinks were nice also. Service was a bit slow but the waitress came and apologized so all was forgiven. Will be back for a second visit!
Alyce Campana
The food here is always good and I'm never disappointed! Fun and full of flavour and so close to home you can't go wrong. However, if you are on your way to work & want to pick up some toast with butter & Vegemite I suggest not too!
Jacquie S
Coffee was poor and left a powdery taste in my mouth. The avocado toast was good but presentation was poor and could of easily made it at home. The staff were friendly which made the experience a little better.

I first went to Mister Hoffman a day or two after it first opened. Since then I've been back 4 or 5 times, usually for breakfast. Its come a LONG way since it opened. Service is alot better and the foods always good. Im a big fan of the Mr Big, its my favourite big breakfast in the area. Coffees good too but the food is the stand out for me.
Natroxstar
Mister Hoffman's coffee is oustanding and the take away coffee is always served quickly and with a smile. Meals are lovely but some are too small, especially the lunch salad. The decor is really inviting.
Melbourne Vegetarian
Nice little cafe, friendly staff, good food.
They give option for vegetarian big breakfast. Swap the bacon and chorizo to pumpkin and broccoli. Thanks for looking after vegetarian. :)
Facegurl
Inner city coffee quality in Niddrie. Best cup in the inner west I've had in a long time. Mister Big Breakfast was delish - the mushrooms especially were amazing! Service was excellent and the decor beautiful, a truly pleasant dining experience. Will be back to try more from the menu soon!
Cat
Really nice look and friendly staff. VHIA pudding was really yummy and filling. The big brekky looked good, simple. I believe this cafe has a lot of mum appeal for locals.
Isabelle-
Amazing little café, service was very friendly and the food was delicious! The chai latte I ordered was also served a very interesting way but I really enjoyed it. Would definitely go back!
Tashn
We went here for breakfast this morning. The staff here are so lovely and friendly, and great food and coffee. This is a little gem that is needed in this area!! We shared the big brekkie and the brekky burgers (which are little brioche burgers). Plenty of food for 2 people to share :)
Jacob.S
Mister Hoffman is amazing and something that is sorely needed in an area overcrowded with busy, stock standard and altogether careless cafés. This cafe is humble, extremely well decorated and the food and coffee is superb. We switched out the mushrooms in the gnocchi for roast pumpkin (all three of us) and honestly recommend doing the same. Thank you for an amazing meal!
Kat
Nice new local cafe. Busy. Great coffee. A new Breakfast menu was interesting but not extensive. Had the big breakfast which was nice but nothing special. Will try the chai pudding next time.

Dear café enthusiasts,
Do you yern for a little slice of café heaven? Of course you do. Do youself a favor and grace this beautiful establishment with your presence. Finally a good cafe in Niddrie! Tasty breakfasts and great coffee in a nice bright space. Only downfall is its a bit pricey and they need to improve their gluten free cake selection, please!

Really enjoyed our breakfast this morning at Mister Hoffman. The chai latte was beautifully prepared and presented....very different. All our meals were lovely and all served with a smile.....very friendly staff. Really cosy dining space, so first in, best dressed if you have a large group.

Terrific breakfast, I had the Mister Big which is a no frills, well made, big breaky. The couple next to us had the prawn salad and what I think was the candied walnut salad and were raving about them. The sliders were coming out of the kitchen thick and fast, they looked scrumptious also.
A lot of the reviews here seem to can some pretty basic things that are to be expected from a newly opened cafe still cutting its teeth. But the staff were excellent we had a chat to the chef who came out to see how we were liking the food who was also pleasant.
They make a thick and creamy latte, one did not suffice.
Good stuff Hoffman, we will be back ✌🏻️
Breakfast is amazing!!! It's organic & delicious!!!
Smashed avocado & chorizo as extras are a must try!!! Decided to be a little naughty & also try the homemade crumpets OMG I didn't take a picture but I will next time, the presentation & the taste was mouth watering & was so yummy! It's my new favourite breakfast spot! Staff are lovely & the environment is very cosy. Look forward to next weekend!

The staff were friendly, the place looked great and the food came out quickly. The food was cooked well but it was nothing special. I could have made it at home. Sticking to North and Eight.

I loved this place! There's a wonderful vibe, gorgeous crockery, quality produce with well prepared dishes. I enjoyed my poached eggs on dark eye with generous sides of avocado and roasted tomato whilst the kids devoured the beautifully presented crumpets with berries & ice cream. Best espresso I've had in a long time - consistency & acidity were perfect. Staff are fantastic and the service was great. Has a cosy outdoor area as well. Looking forward to sampling the lunch menu!

I'm so happy I found this place, it's nice when a small family run business opens up in your own backyard.

The owners are always here it's nice that they talk to you like you're one of the family, whilst the wait staff are friendly a little more training on the menu wouldn't go astray.

My coffee is spot on every time the girls know what they're doing, the food is simple and delicious and I love the Robert Gordon plate ware and the Pepe butter is the nicest touch.

I'll be back for my almost daily coffee with a smile, thanks guys for brightening up my day!

After watching the progress it was only natural to want to check out Mister Hoffman.

Easily the most bright and inviting place in the small Hoffmann street pocket, the quaint feel and relaxed ambiance is a welcomed change to the area.

With tables inside, out the front, or in the cute little courtyard complete with hanging plants and lounge chairs, there is more than enough room to grab a seat. We took a seat in the courtyard across from the large window where you'll have an amazing view of the Jackson pollock-esque brushstroke feature wall inside.

Greeted and given menus and water from a very friendly middle aged waitress, we were off to a good start. Not too hungry from the heat we grabbed some cold drinks and sausage rolls and chips, very hard to go wrong with and thankfully they didn't.

Reasonably priced, good service, and the what I assume to be owner also overlooking and helping out which is always nice to see. Happy to return and see what the rest of the menu is like, seems to be a pretty good local cafe.

Thoroughly enjoyed my inaugural visit to Niddrie's latest culinary offering (Mr Hoffman). I only called in for a quick coffee which was superb and served in an interesting earthenware cup which only adds to the charm of this boutique cafe. Definitely looking forward to returning to try the 'homemade' Buttermilk Crumpets. Who makes their own crumpets? Mr H apparently...

My partner and I were excited that a new "local" had opening on Hoffmans Rd. We went for Saturday breakfast in the second week of it opening. The decor and courtyard looks great with a relaxed feel and the menu promising. However, it fell short in every other department. The young staff were inexeprienced in table service and numbering, bringing orders to the wrong tables including ours. Also the servings were very small for the price. I ordered the house cured ocean trout with fritters and a saffron infused sauce with one extra poached egg for $28! The fritters fell apart and the ocean trout cured with the regular dill and pepper garnishes though salt balance was not right, too acidic. My partner had smashed avocado on sourdough with Meredith dairy goats cheese (which was forgotten about...) and a side of bacon for $16. Most sides, inc an egg, were $4 extra. Coffee was decent though tepid. In short, the staff need to be properly trained and the kitchen should not over-extend itself to believe that the menu is extraordinary. Mr Hoffmans, though, has great potential and I hope they change for the better.

Mister Hoffman's definitely has potential. When I went in the owner said they'd only been open for about 2 weeks. For such a small time they've been open they have done a great job. Food is delicious, the sliders are a hit with the family.
We came on a weekend and it was busy. Waited about half an hour, but the food was worth it. Wait staff were very friendly! They found the time to stop and really give their attention to us and kept us updated on our food when it got busy. You don't really get that kind of service at other cafes in Niddrie!

Coffee was exceptional, wide variety of hot and cold drinks available. The freshly squeezed juice of the day was awesome. Decor and atmosphere is stunning with a very homely feel. Only downside was the prices but otherwise we are definitely coming back.

Finally got here for a bite and the place was flat out. We were lucky enough to pick our own seat, ordered within 10mins and the food was served within 20mins of the order. Our waiter still apologised for the delay in the food coming out, despite finding that 20mins is within reason of how busy they were. I think they will do well and i will definately return in the near future.

Very disappointing, came here today excited to support new local place that's just opens up. We walked in, were seated. Took them 20 min to come back to our table and then placed the order and had waited over 1 hour just for Musli & Smashed Avo. Asked staff how long the food will take and they told us after 1 hours it still hasn't been made and that there only just new so that's why they are taking there time? I'm sorry but that's no excuse to me.
Beautiful atmosphere but horrible service.

Was excited to try out this new local but wish we didn't waste our time or money. Our first order was fresh juice which the wait staff confirmed was freshly squeezed. Shortly after I spotted the owner come back from the milk bar with shopping bags full of long-life bottled juice which he poured into a glass and tried to pass off to us as freshly squeezed. Long life juice from the milk bar next door is not really what we had in mind when we read they use 'locally sourced' ingredients.

We waited more than an hour for our smashed avocado with feta and mushrooms and when it came, it was a serious joke. Im not a big eater by any stretch, but the amount of avocado was a side serve, the feta was garnish and all I saw of mushrooms was the sauce it was cooked in. I told the wait staff and they promised to bring out mushrooms but we never saw it. It was obvious they were trying to 'stretch' the ingredients to serve more people. I would have preferred to have been told they didn't have enough and would have ordered something else. We made it clear at the end that we weren't happy they didn't deliver what was on the menu and $50 later, we were leaving hungry, but they didn't offer anything to rectify it like a coffee or reduce the price given it was a half serve missing main elements.
Besides this, they were utterly disorganized and food was being returned frequently by patrons. If I hadn't waited so long and wasn't so hungry I would have just walked out, which other patrons were doing.
With so many amazing local options in the area like St Rose, Boccone and others, they need to lift their game if they are to survive Needless to say, we won't be returning
