Review Jasmine House - Niddrie

Nessy S
Food was nice and staff friendly. Nice atmosphere too. It would have been nice to have broccoli, cauliflower and zucchini in the meals instead of just an abundance of carrots and celery. I will eat there again but hope next time there is a better vegetable selection.

So good! I love their food. It's exceptional every single time.

We’ve been going to Jasmine House for a while and really love their meals. This evening we were even more impressed as we were running quite late to pick up our take away due to car issues. The wonderful staff kept our food warm and let us in a few minutes after close to pick it up. Thank you so much

Great variety of food. Everything we ordered was delicious. I was let down by the lack of drinks available on a Saturday night (no Gin, no Vodka and no Canadian Club) I will be back to have some more of those mouth watering dishes. Hopefully they'll have a stocked bar by then. Would've loved to give a 5 star rating but apart from the bar the service was fairly average.

Tasteless food, no taste, waste of money, noodles were dry, it was like they threw a bottle of oyster sauce on them, fried rice had one pea in it and they call it special fried rice, shame on you, food court chinese takeaways serve better

Had a great lunch here on new year's day. Above average Western style Chinese food.

Really delicious Chinese food, the best I'd say!

Nice place with good food not the cheapest but worth the money

Order from here at least a few times a month. Tonight a dish was missing from our order, called Jasmine House to rectify and within 20 minutes of the phone call the missing dish arrived, along with a fresh hot rice and a complimentary bottle of soft drink. Very pleased with the service in this situation. Will continue to order from here again.

Bunch of morons, repetitively reminded of an allergy to peanuts yet still decided to cook food with peanut oil resulting in an allergic reaction. When the allergic reaction was happening the staff were adamant that there was no peanuts in the dish, obviously do not understand that peanut oil has peanuts in it. Probably best to pay attention to the needs of customers. Absolutely pathetic.

I love the food at Jasmine House and have been going there for years. Though the staff can be unfriendly, I am ultimately there for the food which is absolutely delicious. They’re lunch box specials are amazing and good value. Service is slow at times but you are rewarded with amazing food.

Best dumplings I’ve ever had in my life. Honestly really good food and very friendly staff. Calamari was very soft and the beef noodles were fantastic.

The food is good. Fairly typical Chinese food at the usual standard. The Peking Duck was the best dish of the night. Service is friendly but a bit rushed and not attentive enough. Plates weren't cleared and replaced in a timely manner. It seemed they were under staffed. The decor is probably typical of a suburban Chinese restaurant. It's dark, clean and tidy. For local Chinese the food is as you'd expect.

Interesting menu with a mixture of Chinese & Thai dishes. I would say the chef is Chinese as the crispy beef strips were excellent and the tom yum fried rice not so much as it was clumpy and lacking the classic Thai flavours. The hot and sour soup was very good and the Jasmine House chicken was too sweet for me. Overall great value for money and the place to go to for your old school Chinese classics.

My go-to for Chinese. I've been going to Jasmine House for years now and the service is always really friendly and food is always delicious.

I've been here the last week with a friend of mine, service was ok...pretty satisfied with food. We'll be back to try something more from our neightbours :)

Waiting for over 1 hour for starters. Service is pathetic dont waste your time this place has no cooks. I asked waiter to order me a pizza from dominos. Never again!!!

In all my years of living in the area I never once visited Jasmine House. But alas, they completed some renos and gave the place a facelift and a fresh coat of paint and some friends recommended. And it wasn't a bad meal. For a local Chinese restaurant it was solid. Service was good from the host and hostess, friendly and attentive. And the food was good. Highlights were the spring rolls and the sang choi bao. The jasmine house chicken main was good but very rich and sweet. Would definitely return.

LAST VISIT I WAS SICK THE NEXT DAY

AVOID.

Had been coming here for many years but have found some of the staff to have bad attitudes. If you are a waiter then you have to be polite, it's not my issue ur a waiter. Don't give attitude.

DISSAPOINTED WILL NEVER RETURN

We ordered beef with black bean & a large special fried rice. The beef with black bean was tasty but the special fried rice was very bland in taste. When i went to pay they tried to charge us a 1% surcharge on my EFTPOS card or pay cash!? Definitely WILL NOT RETURN!!!
Not bad food however not super amazing. Have been here a few times over the years with family. Recently renovated, not sure it was a good move. The restaurant has lost that warm and inviting feel and now resembles any fast Chinese outlet rather than a nice special evening out.

We've been going here for years. Without fail, the food is amazing. We order the same every time and we've never had a bad experience.

The prawn balls are a favourite !

We have been visiting Jasmine House for 12 years but tonight was the first under the new owners. What a mistake and how sad to see a great local restaurant become a greedy mediocre venue. We waited 20 mins for our entree which in fairness was great , thereafter woeful. An hour after ordering we got our main course which was cold. The waitress spent her time apologising to all the tables upstairs for the slow meal service . In fairness we did not get charged for the main course however what was once a well staffed family business has clearly cut back their kitchen staff , packs customers in and can't provide a service .

We had a lovely time at Jasmine House, they have had a mini renovation and the appearance is much improved. We started with steamed home made dim sims, dumpling selection and the prawn balls and enjoyed all of them. We then shared a Jasmine House special fried rice, salt and pepper prawns & calamari, lemon chicken and the rainbow beef. The mains were lovely the only problem with them was for the price they were just not big enough and we would have like a few more veggies in the rainbow beef, we ended up ordering a vegetarian singapore noodles as we were still hungry. Overall this place is very nice, good atmosphere, good service and good food so you really can't go wrong, just note it is not one of the cheaper places on Keilor Rd.

We ordered a table for 10 and were seated upstairs which was great as it was rather quiet up there. Everyone really enjoyed both the meals and service. Would have to be the best Chinese in the area

Amazing food and service. We had a banquet and were set up with fresh plates after each small course. Loved the crab claws and pineapple beef!

Hour and a half and still waiting. We have been sitting here for an hour and a half waiting or your food and still nothing! We have asked now twice when our food is coming and no one has come back to us to let us know!
Terrible customer service and very slow service!

Love It. I have been here several times and we love it. It's hard to find good Chinese food but this place is fantastic and the staff are really friendly. When we want something nice this is our go to restaurant.

Great Gluten free menu. Great service and awesome place to eat for Celiacs.

Hopeless Staff. Had the misfortune of choosing to eat here tonight.
Food was average, but the staff are downright horrible.
Rude and arrogant older woman abusing customers at the front desk, who simply ask to pay their bill ??!! WTF? Get a grip on how to provide some decent service and your restaurant may not have only 4 people in it on a Sunday evening.
Beware the screaming staff !!!!!
Robyn76
Wait Wait Wait Scream !!!. Food has always been nice, but the customer service is abysmal.
Went to collect take away, which was waiting for me (nice). Started to pay with credit card, got half way through transaction & then the phone rings.... Boss lady says, "I need to get this call" and cancels the EFTPOS because she can't complete it while the phone line is in use!! Ok, so take down their number & call them back, right? (Good customer service would do this).
7 minutes later I was still standing there, while she effectively ran through every menu item with the phone customer to identify what's gluten free and what isn't!
I explained I had a baby waiting in the car (not alone of course! ) & I POLITELY asked if she could finish serving me, as I'd been there nearly 10 minutes!
Then... she started SCREAMING at me for my apparent "lack of understanding" !!!
I did say to her that I'd been there first & then asked would she start serving someone who walked in behind me, before finishing with me? No? Coz it's the same thing!
Finish serving the customer in front of you before you pick up the phone and ignore them !
I don't need to be screamed at by rude service people. There are plenty of other restaurants on Keilor Rd. who know how to treat customers with respect.
So she probably didn't miss out on that phone order... but we'll never go back. So in the end, you lose Jasmine House.

Quite possibly the best chinese food ive had during my time in melbourne. Staff are very friendly. Restaurant has a great vibe to it aswell. Food was excellent and tasted full of flavour. Try the fried icecream, a place id highly reccomended!
Ned
Very average overpriced food - $20 to $27 for a serve size the same as a food court at a shopping centre. Look elsewhere.

Jasmine House is definitely a very improved restaurant They have done up the restaurant and also their is new owners in their alsoThey now also have Jasmine House Chicken on the regular menu I will definitely be back Jasmine House

We regularly order Take Away from Jasmine House and it has been fresh and delicious every time.
Jasmine House has been around for 25 years, I doubt it is going to be removed from Keilor Rd any time soon!!!!!
Luv2eat
Smoke and mirrors. Lovely place, attentive service, well presented food.
But there is a catch.
Have a look at how much protein you get in the meal you order ! How much actual meat, chicken, pork or seafood there is in the dish vs. vegtables, fillers, etc.
Real shame.....you ain't cheap so this is not excusable. Please address this before you become a "former" Keilor Rd eatery, and it would be a shame to loose you.
Queen Of Food
Service was good but the food was bland. Dined here on the weekend and the place was quite busy. Entrees were nice - we ordered the vegetarian spring rolls and calamari. For mains I got vegetarian noodles - it was bland and lacked any zing or flavour. The noodles also had a very peculiar taste to them. A little disappointed with the noodles considering the restaurant was almost full I figured it had great food however it was just standard and little bit expensive for what you got. The service was great and the staff were well trained but the food was average and dull in flavours.
Ren Yu
Friendly staff, delicious food and great atmosphere! I'd recommend the Jasmine house chicken-yum!
Chocolate.Factory
Spring rolls frozen in the middle..... Not once, but twice! AND we still had to pay for them..... Seriously wrong.... Rude staff too. Definitely won't be returning to a place that doesn't respect the paying customer..... No wonder this restaurant took awhile to enter the Urbanspoon site...... hopeless.
