A favourite with the locals and is a popular spot on Keilor Road. They serve good chinese food with Malaysian influence, love the roast meat options and would usually get the roast pork.
We ordered take away here from deliveroo. We included a list of allergens and asked the food be prepared without these ingredients. The restaurant attached a note detailing what may contain traces and what was safe.
We enjoyed the salt and pepper ribs, Singapore noodles, pork dumplings and crispy pork with fried rice. All delicious
Came here last night coz when i walk passed i saw from outside looks good warm family hongkong dish. So decide to get some take away. Order shu mai, bbq pork bun, prawn roll, char kwe tiaw. All staff very friendly (usually some other restaurant quite rude) price are fair, and the taste all dimsum was tasty will be back again. And char kwetiaw quite good and tasty typical cantonese cook.
The restaurant humble and cozy. Definitely give u warm feeling.

This place does some killer Asian Take-away at an awesome price! Just bring a tenna ($10) and you're all sorted! I had the pork noodle soup. At some other low end Asian Restaurants you'll get a dodgy cut of Pork.. here they give you a good cut, and it's BBQ'd to perfection, nice and crispy skin. Very quick, easy and tasty dining experience!
Wonderful food served hot not warm like other restaurants. Friendly courteous service . Great atmosphere.

This is one of the hidden gem place that I will recommended to anyone who really wants to taste top quality, authentic Chinese food. Tried their stir fried noodles and other dishes, they all very authentic cantonese cuisine and most importantly, the food isn't greasy at all. And what's more, it is one of the place that you can go when you are very hungry and leave with a very filling and happy face. Highly recommended to try out all the chef special dishes since they are really delicious!
Food was amazing as was the service. A hidden gem. If you like Asian this is a must. Value for money was great. The servings very generous.

Despite the average look of the venue , the food is actually ok and it comes down to which dishes to order. Their hainanese Chicken rice is one of the better ones I have had in melbourne and cooked & prepared quite authentically. The chicken was moist & tender accompanied with a tasty chilli relish & rice simmered in chicken stock. The Duck & roast pork with rice dish was more on the average side as is their Chai Tao Kwey noodles which seemed like a Mish mash of noodles & vegetables. I find their chefs specials on the expensive side so would stick to their entree or rice combo dishes.
We have visited twice already and have enjoyed it both times, busy but service very friendly and efficient. Agree the roast pork is yum as are all the dishes we have tried so far, especially yum Cha items, will keep sampling and suggest you do too!
This place is a godsend. No longer do I have to travel to Footscray for roast duck/chicken/pork on rice. The Essendon area has been missing this type of cuisine and Five Grains certainly delivers. Don't expect silver service but why would you. This place delivers value for money, large serves and really friendly service. I had the wonton short soup for entree which was very tasty, and the BBQ pork on rice which is the best BBQ pork going around, doesn't have the fatty gristle served at similar places. I have been here 4 times now and highly recommend Five Grains. I will keep coming back and recommend it highly.
A great little place newly opened on Keilor Rd - my one test of a Chinese restaurant/takeaway is the wonton noodle soup, and they did not disappoint! Wontons were plump and flavourful, and the BBQ pork was excellent. I'm so glad I found this place to add to my takeout list!
Fantastic food and atmosphere from a lovely family owned restaurant! Everything you expect from a regular dinner venue, with good quality food and appropriate prices. No pretending here!
I just moved to this area in October and was on the hunt for a good Asian takeaway that delivered... It's safe to say that I finally found it! We loved everything we ordered and I know it's a small thing, but the prawn crackers were cooked to perfection! Literally every other place I've tried have over cooked them except from here. Delivery was fast and fresh, I seriously don't have a single complaint and I'm known to be quite fussy. Big up's to Five Grains! Keep up the good work! 👌👍 (sorry I have no photos, I was too busy eating! Haha)

Tried five grains today and was not left disappointed. Nothing fancy about the decor but since I cannot eat the wall paper who the hell cares! Went for the roast pork and wonton noodle soup with a side of prawn and chive dumplings. Soup was perfect and the pork was hands down the best roast pork I've ever had, sliced fresh from the array of roast meats hanging in the window. Dumplings weren't my favourite, celery seemed to overtake the prawn. Otherwise we will be back !! :)
The newest and best Asian in the area. We got takeaway and the food was excellent. Not only could you tell that the food was very fresh but also the flavours were fantastic. The roti sauce was bang on, the spicy salt and pepper squid was great and the chicken laksa was up there with one of the best I've had. Look out Asian restaurants on Keilor Rd the new kid on the block is ready to play!
