Home to Malaysian cuisine on Keilor Road, they do have good lunch specials as is perfect if you need a quick lunch. We’ve tried their laksa and nasi lemak and really liked it. The staff is friendly and attentive and I usually get take aways during lunch time. They do have a good range on their menu for dinner as well.

Four of us ate here this evening. Walking in, it was welcoming, lovely and warm- however there was a bit of an unusual smell. I had taro milk tea, tom yum soup and chicken roti roll. I thought that the drink could have been bigger for the price. The tom yum was full of flavour and i would like to try a laksa next time. The chicken roti was ok. My companions had green tea, Vietnamese ice coffee, beer, roti, vegie laksa, chicken with vegies and salt n pepper squid. All said theirs were excellent.

Very happy that we stopped and had a meal at Lazat Malay Restaurant as the food was just delicious. Having a craving (oddly) for sweet and sour pork and some fried rice, we looked through the menu and made an order of sweet and sour pork $18.8, salted fish and chicken fried rice $13.8 which was just deliciously perfect and we could've just had that on it's own. Also a serving of stir fried belechan string beans $16.8 went down a treat. Oh and for entree, a staple chicken and corn soup $6.0. To wash it down and also to wake up a little, a vietnamese ice coffee. Oddly this was a Malaysian restaurant so we guess they had a mixture of asian dishes and drinks but hey, we weren't complaining. Was the food laced with MSG, yeah probably but we expected it to be and thankful it wasn't to much.

We feel that the decor and promotion of the restaurant isn't doing the food justice, if anything it's doing it a dis-service as the food is so delicious. A revamp of the internal decor with some traditional bespoke furniture, lighting and decorations along with getting rid of that tacky led sign out front and replaced with a more flattering and classy sign would do wonders. In saying that, for a Monday afternoon it wasn't quiet and in fact, it was quite busy. The one waitress who seemed to be doing it all (we think it's the owner as the husband/chef was in the kitchen) was managing (just) with a pretty busy floor. Well done to her. We'll be back again and/or will definitely order takeaway. Till next time, this is Our Foodie Find.

Cheap, friendly Malaysian fare & don't let the dubious neon sign out the front scare you off , its lovely & clean inside! This is my go to in Niddrie for Hainanese Chicken rice , they have nailed it in terms of taste & price. Chicken is tender & silky with a rich chicken rice & bitey chilli sauce. Very generous servings & friendly efficient service. Loved the various Malaysian milk teas on offer. Will definitely visit again.

The Lazat Malaysian Restaurant, located in Niddrie, Melbourne, provides good value for money, the food tastes very good and is high quality, the service is excellent, the drinks, entrees & main dishes and dessert came out in under 10 minutes and the waitress and waiter were very polite and friendly. As we (a group of 12) came at 8:30pm, it was off-peak and since we just wanted a good place to eat, it was overall a great experience and would recommend to all diners who would like to have a nice place to eat.

Great Malaysian/Asian food in a clean and comfortable restaurant. Every dish we tried was most enjoyable. Service was terrific. A great find.

I don't post reviews mostly but I want to get behind my neighbourhood restaurants. This place is really good. Yummy, honest, well priced Malaysian food, served by the friendliest staff. Not a posh night out, but a good local with delicious food and we will definitely be going back for more! Had a mixed entree with a variety of sauces which we mixed and matched (even though I think there was a specific one for each but it was fun to try dipping in the different flavours) and we had a chicken and a vegetarian laksa - so packed with vegetables and noodles that we couldn't finish them, despite our best efforts. The chopped chilli on the side added heat when and as you wanted it. Nice touch that the waiter made the effort to come over and chat and make sure we were happy with our meals.

By and far the best Malaysian restaurant I have been to in quite a while.  The service was attentive, the staff friendly and the food excellent, the Beef Rendang was as about as tender as it gets, I've never quite come across meat that tender before thus I  was in awe :)

Their drinks too are magnificent.

My only gripe would be that it was slightly cold inside the premises during the Winter, could be slightly warmer to increase the level of comfort but overall I would highly recommend Lazat to anyone :)

Busy, busy, busy. I felt sorry for the waitress as she was the only one serving on a day where it seemed almost everyone in Niddrie wanted to eat lunch at Lazat. The long, narrow dining area of Lazat is a little dark (which is not such a bad thing on a bright day) and has an unusual hanging wooden fixture that runs the length of the ceiling. The walls are decorated with photographs of their own menu dishes but overall the spartan environment leans more towards a quick eat than an intimate meal. Bear in mind we were there for lunch though.

Lazat are definitely not stingy with their serving sizes with the seafood dishes containing a generous amount of seafood. Our table ended up sharing our meals because there was so much. I went halvies with someone on some entree roti rolls but ended up sharing with many others on the table. Lazat is not the cheapest I have been to so the prices are slightly above average for some dishes but the serving sizes are decent.

Service was mostly good, with the one frazzled waitress doing a pretty good job all things considered. The only let down with the service was that an order of Kung Po King Prawn became a delivery of Sambal King Prawn. This was not a big deal as nobody really noticed until the end of the meal (we were in a group and it was a bit hectic) and the Sambal King Prawn dish was enjoyed anyway.

The weakest dish on the day would have been the nasi goreng. I reckon I could make a better nasi goreng at home. Lazat's effort was bland and stodgy. In fact, all nasi goreng meals I have had in shopping centre food courts have been better, no lie. This was an exception though, because all the other dishes were delicious so one dud dish is not a true indication of the restaurant.

Lazat is close to some off street parking, either just around the nearest corner or at the Safeway car park, so parking shouldn't be a drama. Overall we were all happy with our meal at Lazat and were impressed with both the menu variety and the serving sizes.

Good as the one located at sunshine, this branch serve the same taste and quality.

Love their curry fish noodle, however need to be very careful with the fish bone. Like the vermicelli noodle, right texture. Hope that the curry can be more spicer, you can always ask for the sambal chillies, the chillies taste good.

Fried Kuey Teow taste good, hope for more eggs to lift up the flavour, this also fried with Chinese sausage, very generous portion.

Friendly staff and clean environment.

Lazat Malaysian is one of the best restaurants on the keilor road that i have found out recently. The food was perfect, especially the curry beef rendang and the sambal king prawn. My friend was here with me and he really liked the string bean. The service was excellent as i did not have to do anything except sitting down and relaxing. Keep up the good work guys. Definitely we will be back.

We visited Lazat after I'd heard good things and we definitely weren't disappointed. The premises is spacious and clean and service is prompt and efficient. Loved the char kway teow. It had the proper wok hei and wasn't too oily. The rendang was excellent too. I love how rendang is different at every place. This version was relatively dry and the meat was lovely and tender. The lemongrass chicken contained chicken breast and had a good lemongrass flavour. We left very satisfied and with a bottle of BYO represents a really good value night out. We'll be back. I don't understand why the overall rating is so low.

These guys are the real deal in Asian cooking. The Rendang continues to be the best in the business for mine..

Lazat is a relative newcomer to the Keilor Road dining precinct and more than a welcome addition. It's a combo of Malaysian & Chinese (80/20), the Beef Rendang I had last night could be the best I e experienced. Highly recommended. Expect to part with around $20ph + drinks. BYO wine is welcome ($6pb)

This new Malaysian restaurant on Keilor Rd is fabulous, we ventured in on Saturday night and were seated promptly.  The service was wonderful and we didn't have to ask for anything all night other than the bill as they kept filling our water and making sure we were okay.  We shared a roti roll and mixed entree between the 4 of us.  The roti roll was so tasty and fresh and we enjoyed the spring rolls, lobak and dumplings that came with the mixed entree.  We then shared a salt & pepper calamari (yum), beef rendang (tasty and tender), char kway teow (again yum), vegetarian fried rice (delicious) and a combination laksa (one of the nicest laksa we have had).  We took a bottle of wine and the boys had some green tea and for around $30 per head was without a doubt one of the best meals and best value for money we have had, will be sure to be back.  Could be up there as a fav so far along with Chalita's
