Review Sushi Yah-man - Noosa

Steven Heath
7/11/21 Lovely food, great atmosphere but with slightly distracted staff. Came with friends (party of 3) and a dog 🙄. The food was very tasty, typical pricing for Noosa and a pleasant atmosphere. The only let down was the staff seemed very distracted with conversations between themselves and the parents who happily let their children run around between the yables. It's not a creche.

We went to Sushi Yah-man on Saturday with my family and it was great experience..from food, service to atmosphere. Kids loved sushi train and we loved the salmon dishes! My wife couldn't get enough of the ice cream..it's must try! We will definitely be back.

Enticed by the combination of a restaurant with alfresco & sushi train dining, we went here for dinner. I didn’t take many photos because the food was too good! This is hands down one of the best Japanese restaurants I have been to. The service was prompt and quick, and the food was outstanding! I particularly like that they serve local brews. I recommend the tender Pork Belly & Agedashi Tofu. Also every table was booked out except the sushi bar (where we sat). I give this place a 10/10. We will be coming back soon!

Came on a busy Saturday night. Food was reasonably well priced, tasty and many different items to choose from. Left feeling very satisfied. Service was average, had to get staff attention numerous times to order and chase one dish that hadn't arrived. Think this is due to many young kids working and perhaps combined with the busy pace of the night was just a little too much. If you feel like Japanese when in Noosa, would definitely recommend coming here. Pays to book ahead though!

Great Japanese food! We were there with a group of friends on a busy night - all food was excellent, kids loved the sushi I loved teryaki salmon dish. You get free yummy miso soup with some dishes! The service was also good. Will definitely come again.

Great food and very friend staff. There are even dishes that I havn't seen before like tempura ice cream. Definitely recommend people to try it.

Busy and vibrant restaurant that offered a good range of Japanese styles - from sushi train, to ramen, made-to-order nigiri and sashimis, to ramen. Had the mixed sashimi, which was generous and lovely - good enough to warrant a second serve. Reasonable sake offerings too.

We love Yah Man ! Keli and Mizki run a great restaurant... fun casual lively atmosphere, amazingly varied menu of the best delicious fresh food, friendly attentive staff, lots of happy diners enjoying themselves ! We go once a week at least, drive half an hour each way for the best sushi and tempura ever ! My favourite is Vegie Stack

Beyond amazing! Easily one of the best Japanese restaurants I've ever been to. Great yet simple menu, delicious and fresh produce, excellent atmosphere, exquisite selection of reggae music and super nice and friendly staff - this place is a must visit for anyone who loves good food;) and it's child friendly. Simply phenomenal!

Last night was my first night dining at Sushi Yah Man, and may it be the first of many. I couldn't think of a better place to spend my birthday night :) The food was absolutely incredible, couldnt fault one dish (the beef tatake salad, salmon nigiri and fried haloumi in particular were amazing), and they had Sapporo on tap which really made me happy. Professional and friendly service, made me feel very welcome, especially when they put a birthday candle in my dessert :) Will be returning shortly, thanks for a good night

Definitely the best sushi on the Sunshine Coast (we have tested them all). This is our weekly pick me up. Amazing service, friendly staff and most importantly, THE tastiest dish ever!!
Tim Bailey
Simply the best Sushi joint there is......... The train is never late and the "tapas" is to die for! The Itamae are in the corner working there magic, and the Regae on the stereo.

This place is buzzing and has been since they first opened a few years back. As a local, we eat out quite a bit and this is the best quality, most affordable sushi in town and the atmosphere is fun, warm and inviting. Staff are always there to help. Ya-man is a staple in our week.

Excellent food. I eat a lot of Japanese food when I travel, and this was amazing. Good selection of beers, wine and my personal favourite, Japanese scotch. Staff were super cool even though I visited on an extremely busy evening. I will definitely be dining here again. Great work guys.

I’m not going to make a big description of my visit here because it was a massive disappointment for me. I actually wanted to visit them because they looked quite popular and the options presented on the menu looked interesting but there are a few things that made me question initially whether to visit.

First they didn’t have a menu with allergens in it and dietary restrictions/alternatives, so you never know if that specific item of the menu has any allergen that you react to. Secondly, when it comes to Japanese places, from my experience, most staff members never know how to answer the question ‘does it have dairy?’ and they end up creating a sense of insecurity and having to check inside with the kitchen. Which is fair, but, what isn’t fair is when they come back and still are not sure if the allergen is present but it ‘shouldn’t’.

I have to say that the waitress was quite polite and came to us 3 times in 5 minutes to ask if were ready to order, for which we like had kindly said we needed a little more time to decide because most items sounded really good. But, we weren’t sure about the allergens so I asked on that third time if certain things had dairy and she reluctantly said that it didn’t. I wasn’t completely happy with that uncertain answer but she insisted that ‘almost 100% sure that it hadn’t’ and said that would make sure to check with the kitchen that it didn’t for which I believed in her and guess what, it obviously did because after 20-30 minutes there I was going back home looking 7 months pregnant and feeing sick and in pain.

I must say that sushi was good. But it wasn’t certainly worth the pain and discomfort. I don’t understand why people still lie about these things and if they are not sure, why not be honest and say just that? What if I was actually allergic to it and ‘accidentally’ ate dairy because I didn’t want to be that annoying person that checks and double checks and make it uncomfortable for others to be ‘picky’ to make sure my food is free of allergens? It’s sad how some places still don’t make an effort towards making it clear on the menu and instruct the staff better on dietary requirements. It makes me feel judged for asking, bullied/discriminated for being ‘different’ and the only thing I will remember from this place is how uncomfortable I was in pain for the rest of the night.

It was a disappointment to visit and what was supposed to be a celebration, ended up being just a sad experience.

Went here for dinner last night. Had the tapas style dinner. It was the best sushi I had ever had. The staff were friendly and it was very affordable would go again.
Mistermister
Very average. Sushi train. No sashimi on the train. You must special order and it’s not cheap. Soba noodles was quite bland. All in all it was edible and the service was friendly.

Went here to order a takeaway laksa recently, placed the order, also bought sushi for my wife and 1 twin pack for myself while I waited, 10 minutes goes by, the man calls me over, oh, we don't have all the flavorings to make the laksa, would you like something else, bit peeved, I said I'll take the Thai chicken noodles, ok he says, 15 minutes later, we get our food and go back to our apartment, it was ok, won't be raving about it.
Deboo
Great sushi- very fresh, delicious and well priced. Service was also friendly and accomodating. Will definitely return the next time I'm in Noosa.

As a local this is my go to for a good feed with friendly staff and busy atmosphere. You can grab some sushi off the train while you wait for meals or just fill up on train snacks. Good idea to reserve table though because it get full fast.
JKGasMan
Nothing stands out at this place. The sushi that was served was fairly average. The udon noodles with tempura tasted ok.
Very busy place on a Saturday evening. We had to sit outside and when it did rain they moved us inside. We were not offered any adjustment to our bill for the less than ideal experience of being rained on during our meal.

Of the plethora of Sushi joints on the Sunny Coast this place is by far the absolute best. Fresh, scrumptious, affordable Japanese food teamed with prompt friendly service.

This place ruins sushi for everywhere other sushi place ever. Consistent af. Best sushi I've ever had. My partner works away n he doesn't come back for me, he comes back for the titaki beef salad!! 😂 💯

Delicious veggie gyoza (dumplings) and Teriyaki, great atmosphere- cute blankets, candles and heaters outdoors, and fantastic service despite being the busiest place in Noosa.

I had a really impressive dining experience here. Had a dinner here when I was spending a weekend in Sunshine Coast. The food was so good, I like their curry and aburi salmon sushi.
Briony
We enjoyed eating here. Was obviously popular as the restaurant was full while we were there. Good selection of food. Fresh, great ambience, good service and good value for money.
Great quick easy option for dinner.

As vegetarians we were delighted to see some great options on the menu. We both had the tofu teriyaki and loved it! We ate there on a Friday night and were just squeezed in without a reservation (probably a good idea to book). Loved it so much, we ate lunch there the next day.
Belinda-Mary BumbleBee
Very good value for money. Excellent food made right in front of you (the chefs are in full view making fresh sushi). The sushi train is very cool and has different coloured plates depending on price. Everything was so fresh and tasty! Even on a wet, miserable night, the place seemed buzzing! We came here twice on our holiday and we were left extremely satisfied!

Pleasant service and nice seating area looking into the main st. Menu was very limited if not ordering from the sushi train. The chicken teriyaki was below average, as the sauce wasn't as other places. The bowl was mainly rice with an average salad
Monkeyboy
Sensational.... I would highly recommend eating here! Our dinner was amazing and there is also no complaints about the service either. We had bits and pieces of everything from sashimi, salads, gyozas, sushi, beef, cooked salmon and pancakes - everything was very very tasty. We will most definitely be heading back before going home.

I'm amazed. How do they do it?. I've been to several Japanese restaurants in Melbourne & Japan & I was really impressed with the whole experience at Sushi Yah-Man. Quality authentic dishes & friendly, polite staff that are more than willing to help & explain fairdinkum Japanese eating. Most unbelievable thing is the price. Could have paid half as much again at most other places I've experienced. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Best Japanese Restaurant, Hands Down. Brilliant!! Had heard wonderful things about the restaurant and was not disappointed! Food was delicious, great presentation and full of flavour! Staff were friendly and warm and even though the place was humming, service was quick. The atmosphere was brilliant, from the first in the door at 5pm. Definitely be back! Thank you Sushi Yah-Man!

Fantastic. Been there for lunch every day of my holiday! Absolutely amazing! Great atmosphere, great Japanese food. I can hardly believe the last comment! The owners Are so lovely and so are all the staff. I love this place. Best Japanese in Qld!
Michealjones475
Nicest Japanese restaurant in Australia. What a lovely place to eat! Delicious food and all the staff bend over backwards to help. I find the previous comment about the owner to be a lie probably created my the competition! Been there for lunch every day of my holiday and found the place to be awesome. Best food in Noosa and friendliest staff around! What a little gem! The food is amazing !

Cold Atmosphere. I was a regular... but I find the atmosphere can be very cold and the dishes can be very inconsistent. The manager is very moody and she can make the whole place very uncomfortable to be at.
Hilary
Fabulous!. Food, staff and environment is great! We visit at least once a week. Highly recommend this fabulous restaurant.

Confused. I have never been to a sushi bar where I have to take all my plates up to the counter once I have finished?

We were with a group of us and I found this so annoying, carrying dirty plates though the restaurant? Does it really take that much for someone to come over and take a tally of what I have eaten? Obviously not being from this area I didn't have the "rules" down pat and this made me and my guests feel awkward.

BEST SUSHI EVER. I had the most wonderful experience whilst dining at sushi yah-man, the sushi is super fresh, funky and fantastic. The staff serving me on Last Wednesday evening made the whole night absolutely fantastic. Un-like some sushi restaurants they make it clear that if you don't want anything on the train you can go ahead and order up a fresh batch of what ever you like the sound of. I love the vibe, it's family friendly, it's laid back, it's classy and it's fun thank-you sushi yah-man team :)

Great - including for single people eating out. Great japanese food - the atmosphere is sufficiently formal for a night out (inside or out) or for casual sitting at the revolving counter.
Truely Japanese. Don't forget the ice cream. Great staff - comfortable even if eating alone. And sitting outside at Noosa Junction is great. It's on the same side as the cinema closer to Noosa Heads.

Great. Really cool place, great relaxing inexpensive Japanese restaurant that actually plays reggae. Food is very authentic. Sushi was fresh. Lovely owners.
I'll be back for sure. Probably tomorrow !!
Thanks guys

This is a fantastic place to eat, relax and enjoy. The food is fresh, tasty not expensive and of a high standard, the friendly staff are amazing and the owners are a very friendly, welcoming and passionate proud couple. I recommend it highly- it's a welcome addition to Noosa. Try it, you won't be disappointed.

Great food, so tasty. Staff are really friendly. Will definitely be going back.

Excellent food, amazing music this place is bliss. Rastafantastic

Half decent. I agree with with some of the posts on this place, lacks any imagination on the train, plates are small. I thought the whole point of a sushi train was for the variety.

Top service and fresh tasty food!!!
Thank you Sushi Yah-Man for you attentive service on for dinner on Friday the 10th Jan. We visit Noosa annually and was delighted to find this jumping sushi bar. We popped in and they were full( great for 6.15 pm), no problem, Kelly was so very helpful. Took our number, we went for a drink up the street and she called 20 mins later to say they had room at the sushi train. We had a baby but as soon as a table became available they shifted us. The food was great, recommend the pork belly, Gozyas and the sushi was so fresh. Our boys loved the sushi train, and bowl of sticky rice for our little one. The staff couldn't of been more helpful. We wish you all the success Sushi Yah-man. We will be back and recommend your restaurant. NW

Good restaurant and To our defense. Kerrianne you were the one and only rude person we have had in our restaurant since opening. Your behavior was unacceptable.
You talked extremely down to the staff members and when one offered to take your sushi plates up to the cash register to get your bill you didn't allow her too.

When the manager came over to explain we needed to take the plates up, as this was the system to see how many plates you had consumed, you were extremely rude to her as well! God knows why you would want dirty plates left In front of you when someone is kindly offering to remove them. This restaurant does split bills and this is the system in place.
The staff at Sushi Yah-man are kind, helpful and easy going.
However we will not tolerate if people are just down right rude to any staff member or to other customers.
There is no room for bad behavior in our restaurant from anyone.
You can keep that to your self.
Keeianne I'm sure you have problems in your life but it is not nice to expel onto others, this will not help you in the long run. Try to be kind hearted. Gunbate!

Rude owner avoid. We have been in Noosa on holidays and was excited to see this new addition to Noosa as we are regularly visitors. This was our fourth trip , we had been enjoying the sushi and the nice wait staff that was until our horrific experience with the owner who on giving feedback on having to carry dirty plates to the front counter to pay was told shockingly that this was their system and I quote" not welcome back" I certainly won't be recommended to my friends and family in Noosa and hope that there can be some customer service training on handling customers rather than abusing them. Seriously I have never been treated this badly, good luck Sushi Yah-Man, you need it.
Tropic
Boring sushi train. Same noromaki style inside out rolls on the train. I don't like those and prefer more variety. Why always the inside out rolls? A bit overpriced. Would be nice to see a sushi restaurant in Noosa that dosn't over charge and maybe have the same price for all plates as i sometimes see in Sydney.I did not try the menu items but will give this place another try from the menu.
Jarrah
Very small plate portions from train

Real Japanese. I'm quite happy about this little place. This restaurant had absolutely fantastic food and good prices. Love the fact they make everything fresh to order and don't use microwaves. The previous comment I read...about the edamame. I saw them cook the beans freshly on the stove and not put frozen one in microwave like I heard them do at Barsushi.
Their sashimi is the freshest in town.
I give the Yah-man guys 10/10. Cool place too.
Hinkoli
I love it and would hands down recommend it over Bar Sushi in Hastings Street but a little constructive criticism, the Edamame is better price for value in Hastings Street.. maybe re think sizings for the Edamame. Other then that, great job guys!
Tayla Brooke Ross
One of the best things to happen to Noosa. the freshest sushi for the best price! you guys are killing it!

Sushi yah-man is a new and very welcome addition to the Noosa junction food scene.
Many people know their super delicious temaki rolls from the farmers market.the menu is starting off with lots of Japanese hotfood and fresh fish and I heard it will be changing and extended in regular intervals.
The sushi is always very fresh made up to order, nothing stands around, you can watch them making it.
My favourite is the salmon salad, fresh tuna rolls and the crunchy chicken.
Also try some of the many vegetarian options and sit on the backbit with the couches with some friends.
Jaden
Hands down best sushi in noosa, inexpensive and delicious.
Kely
Nice atmosphere, friendly waitstaff, a few issues with incorrect orders received until we got our meals as ordered. Inexpensive, but my chicken teriaki bowl was more like rice with a little addition of chicken. Which is a shame because it was delicious. Sashimi plate was very fresh but no tuna and needed something more on the plate than just fish. I wanted to really like this new Noosa Junction restaurant but too many things went wrong for me to find it an enjoyable experience.
Mitch Andrew
Great laid back atmosphere, with quality fresh sushi. Best Japanese in Noosa!
