Review A Taste Of Spice - Noosa

XIN LIU
We ordered Pad thai and nes goreng, both horrible. They added pink color in Pad thai, tasty just so so but looks so unnatural, I ate 20% then have to give up. Nasi goreng have no flavour at all, rice is sticky and old....we give up on that one as well. We won't go back. I never give bad review but this 2 dishes should be improved a lot.

If you want really nice spicy food this is the place to eat. We had takeaway noodles and it was beautiful and hot and spicy and we got some rice and vegetable Tofu that was very good too. Unfortunately the venue is not too good so we did a takeaway.

Terrible food... the worst.... we went there on our first night in noosa as the place was packed.... staff were abrupt and given impression they were 2 busy 4 even t/a.... lime chicken... gross packet sauce, spring rolls clearly frozen ones from Coles, Tom Young goong soup so weird and lamb backstop dish a really weird disgusting pink colour... owner questioned us on how much we ordered 4 3people and told me we shouldn't eat it after 1 day which gave me impression b4 we even ate it that supplies were going off.... couldn't eat it after 1 serving... yuk... expensive rubbish

We did takeaway char kuey tiaw and laksa. It’s so good and taste authenthic!!! We got huge portion. The burnt sensation on CKT was perfect and the meat was generous. 2 thumbs up!
Micky Rathod
I don't know how they got 4.3 stars! Ordered coconut rice a d it was disgusting.not only that, they heated the bowl of rice in microwave so much that the coconut almost burnt... Service was disgrace. Curry was ok at best.. won ton soup was nothing like wonton soup! I would say, convert from Malaysian food to indian food please, even after that they need to work on the curries and service!

Used to eat at Taste of Spice when it was at Thomas Street Noosaville, so it's been a good 10yrs since we ate here last. Decided to grab a takeaway tonight. We ordered Sweet and Sour Chicken, Beef Pad Thai, Chicken Curry, Thai Fishcakes, and a side of Roti. Store had a vibrant atmosphere and the cooks were cooking up a storm on the woks. Friendly staff. Wish we'd eaten in house. Kids weren't real keen on the food. We usually fight over leftovers for lunch, however I'm not sure any of us are that keen this time around. Sorry guys.....

Place was pack !! Always a good sign right ?? Not this time best thing was the spring rolls from Woolworth or some other supplier !!

A very delicious menu. Very affordable. Really fresh and tasty. Highly recommendable to everyone’s taste buds. We love eating here. Out fav place to eat in Noosa❤️

I have found my new favourite place to eat out, moved up from brisbane and have not found a good place to eat out until now. The flavours were on point and the food was so fresh! Every mouth full was to die for, definitely will be back for more. highly recommend.

Visited with the family whilst looking for an affordable Asian dinner in the Noosa area. Fortunately we arrived early as this place is popular even mid-week. With seating for about 30, the decor is basic but the service and food were of good quality. We enjoyed dim sims, chicken satay, wontons, honey chicken and fried rice. The food was overall of a high standard and tasted and smelt great. The one exception being the Honey Chicken which was slightly dry and overcooked. We left satisfied and without blowing the budget. Will definitely visit again next time we're in town.

Have eaten at a taste of spice twice and the food was fabulous with fantastic flavours and good choice menu
Well priced and offers takeaway too
Well worth a visit
AC
Small casual eatery with an open kitchen. Lots of stir fries, noodles and rice dishes on offer. We ordered the special fried rice. It was quite delicious and not all salty. Only drawback was that it was a little oily.
Marjan Jones
Simple and casual.
Great food. Friendly service.
We had steamed dimsims and wontons - lovely. Chilli prawns (really Spicey - of course) , chicken and ginger, fish curry and salt and pepper calamari.
All stir fried and rice - really great. Tasted like home cooked food ( authentic)
Calamari was ok.
Service excellent and welcoming.
Go on cas out and enjoy.

This was a good hidden gem amongst all the other expensive Noosa restaurants .food was reasonably cheap for Noosa standards and it was delicious. staff were really friendly.

Great little place, very tasty dishes at reasonable prices..Friendly service...it is BYO and you can buy your bottle just a quick walk around the corner, would recommend!! 👍🌈

Maybe I'm spoilt, having spent a lot of time in the western suburbs of Brisbane where we have so many exceptional Asian takeaway options. I found our takeaway meals from A Taste of Spice to be fairly average. We had 5 different dishes plus the special fried rice. It all kind of tasted the same, even though we had everything from ginger beef to garlic prawns. The highlight was the combination hokkien noodles.

I can't believe they charge $11.50 for special friend rice when it is the equivalent of standard fried rice from other places. Very plain flavour and nothing special in it!! A complete rip off.

We tried Taste of Spice because of the good rating and reviews on Zomato. We thought it would be Chinese / Malaysian fusion, but the dishes we ordered were Chinese / Malaysian con-fusion. We love authentic Asian food, but were disappointed with our order. The fish in the ginger fish was cold in the middle as it was frozen, not fresh. Beef rendang was ok, but a bit soupy. Roti was average. Short soup was an odd mixture of broth, crinkle cut carrots and dim sims. All that said, the service was good and the place seems very popular with the locals - the take away service almost couldn't keep up with the demand. If you like authentic Asian food, this may not be the place for you.

On 25/3/16, a week ago, I went to a Thai restaurant for the first day of our vacation. We would expect this place to be good, too.

I decided to try the sweet and sour fish. First I tried to find a piece of fish fillet, but I pulled out a slice of pineapple. The pineapple tasted sweet and was a good balance between the savoury fish and the sour sauce.

The vegetables were nice although I think the dish could have some spice. I added steamed rice which was also nice.

I recommend this place for people that enjoy Thai food. There are a lot of options in this place.

I phoned to book a table at A Taste of Spice. The chef answered and was so attentive, even offering us driving instructions because we had never been there before. He felt the need to warn us that it was very casual. Very casual it was with plastic orange chairs on the footpath but the service was very attentive and the food was delicious.

My Coconut Prawn entree was delicious. Four King prawns coated in a crisp batter with lots of coconut. It came with crispy noodles underneath and a small salad. Although these were probably partly designed as a garnish they made it a well-rounded entree. Yum?

The Thai King Prawns with Basil and vegetables was creamy and delicious with a gentle spice. It was a very balanced meal and came with 6 large prawns.

The Chilli Fish with Vegetables was really quite spicy considering we had ordered the medium. It was very tasty and had quite a rich sauce.

We originally wanted a dessert but I don't think they offer them and the meals were generous so it wasn't really necessary anyway.

Decor - 2
Atmosphere - 3.5
Service - 4.5
Food - 4.5
Great lasksa and vindaloo! Highly recommended. Avoid the noodle dishes as they will disappoint. The only good noodle dish was the char Kwai Tao. Nice little place for a cheap takeaway dinner.

We come to Noosa annually and always eat at this restaurant. They never disappoint. Food again was great. Always fresh and well priced. Staff are always helpful and friendly. Love it!
Humble but food was excellent value for money. Steamed dim sims were tasty as was the mussaman and laksa. We will be back. BYO with no corkage.

Best Asian around!!! Highly recommended! Fantastic service, food, and atmosphere. It's BYO with no corkage fee. There's a reason why they've been in business for over 17 years!! Thank you A Taste of Spice!!
Ms Marone
Great little casual eatery (I wouldn't call it a restaurant) with plenty of choice at very reasonable prices. BYO only. Quick service and lovely staff. My only disappointment was the Nasi Goreng which was basically fried rice with satay skewers. Tasty but not quite the authentic Nasi flavour I was looking for.
Farr Out
My favourite. Cheerful, very good chef. Food cooked in front of you.
Very tasty and wide menu.
Curries, pad thai are favourite orders.
We go about once a month.
Superhoop
I am a tourist and got some takeaway based on the reviews on this website. Seriously underwhelmed. I was expecting authentic, quality food. I didn't get this. The Pad Thai was the best of the three dishes I ordered and it was satisfactory at best. Not particularly authentic either it had a red sauce and there was no peanut taste at all. Very unlike any Pad Thai I have had in the past. The Penang Char Kway Teow was disappointing. I ordered extra pork. If this was the dish with extra pork then the standard fare must be pretty miserable. Supposedly a house speciality. Not tasty. Also ordered another noodle dish mixed veg with tofu and ginger. This was well below average. Perhaps I just ordered the worst three dishes on the menu and was super unlucky? Overall the three noodle dishes were on the same level that you would get in a bog standard noodle joint in the burbs. Certainly nothing to get excited about.
VAprincess
The best rice paper rolls with a superb dipping sauce. Only available at lunch and get in early as they sell out quickly.
Steamed wontons were great and char kway teow was perfect, exactly how it should taste. Excellent food overall and Anil the owner/chef is very friendly and obviously takes great pride in his cooking, always checking that you have enjoyed your meal.
Will be back again and again.
Chelsea
Fresh ingredients, very accommodating to allergies. Not the best Asian I've had but I wasn't disappointed. All in all a fresh, tasty, affordable takeaway.
Liesa Williams
Wow what an amazing tasty meal. The s4ervice was fantastic. Even the owner came to the table and asked if everything was ok. Just a lovely little place to eat. Not fine dining but you will not be disappointed with the taste. Lime chicken to die for. Short soup on the ok side. Dim sims, sooo good..
Kristie Dunn
This place is great! Fresh, fast, friendly and tasty. The chicken curry is lovely and the ginger veggies and tofu is fresh and full of greens and goodness. Wish we'd discovered it on our first day!
Mallory Taylor
This is the best kept secret in Noosa. The food and service are always top notch - including take away. I really like the street dining set up they have as well.
Renee
Yummmm. Quick, fresh and delish!

I love this place! Great food, excellent service and happy to assist you.. something that is very rare to consistently have these days!

Amazing food, great service, friendly staff and great variety. We absolutely loved it!!!

Golly!!! This place is humble but clean & cosy. The food is EXCELLENT! We had ginger chicken & Malaysian chicken curry, both were incredibly flavoursome!!! Lovely chef even comes to your table to check all is to your liking. An absolute must!!!

Wow what a find all dishes excellent and the staff were so friendly and kind. Highlight was chef coming out to chat. From the outside you might think....really?? Go in and be charmed and have one flavour hit of a fantastic value meal...we will be back... Paula n Phil

Ordered take away from here last night. Very fresh ingredients, expertly cooked which lead to great tasting meals and a very reasonable cost. Recommend !

It was amazing. Good pad thai but awesome Malaysian chicken curry and steamed dim sims. So cheap and BYO beer and wine. Chef/owner Anil gorgeous. My new local, will be back soon to try to Singapore noodles and Bangkok steak which are apparently the bomb.
Michael
Been twice and on both occasions have been super impressed with the food, very friendly and very down to earth eatery, the Bangkok steak is mouthwatering
Teresa
I would travel from Melbourne just for the hand made steamed dim sims, The food here is so FRESH, fragrant and fabulous. The people are attentive, warm and friendly. Our experience here was like dining at relatives home eating memorable food. Thanks for WOWing our night!!!! Teresa

So very good!. After seeing so many good reviews online, we just had to try this place out while we were in the area for our anniversary. It is most definitely a casual restaurant (sandals recommended!) frequented primarily by the locals, so if you're looking for fine dining, this won't be for you. If you're looking for good food and service, though, it won hands down - it rivalled our favourite Chinese in Brisbane for top notch asian-style cooking. The owner Anil was very friendly, having a chat with us and helping us choose what to try. We had spring rolls, sweet and sour chicken, and ginger stirfry... then had the left-overs for lunch the next day. Can't recommend highly enough.
Koalaclaire
Just wonderful. This place is so good I intend to work my way through every item on the menu. The only problem with that is that each dish I try is so good that I struggle not to reorder that one instead! Love the curries, love the rotis, love the noodles. Too hard to pick a favourite. You're taken care of like a friend from the minute you arrive, most of the customers are locals and regulars who keep going back and back. All this, great prices and BYO with no corkage. Now we've found them we'll struggle to eat elsewhere.
Janet
Up from melbourne and found this little gem of a place Food and service was top shelf. All the ingredients are fresh and you can taste it. Have been here 4 days and have visited taste of spice twice! Highly recommended

This place is spectacular. From the outside it looks like a little Chinese eatery with plastic chairs, far from the perfect restaurant settings of Hastings Street. BUT the food, oh the food.. fresh, tasty, absolutely delicious. We had the short soup, the wontons were incredible, the beautiful crunchy curry puffs, and the fresh vegetable and chicken breast green curry which was sublime. The chef is so lovely and really takes delight in his customers satisfaction. We were meant to go again last night for my birthday, but unfortunately had to travel South. I was very upset! Best place for dinner in Noosa by far.
Marina Scaffidi
Little Local Treasure. This local little eatery delivered a mouth watering meal. The food was delicious and it was made with care and pride. From the homemade dim sims to the chili seafood stir fry, every mouthful was delightful. We'll be back to experience the cuisine again before our holiday ends!
Klcochran
Ah-mazing. Found the place on urbanspoon, checked it out for ourselves, and thought it was fabulous! This isn't your typical Hastings street white table cloth restaurant, however the food was delicious, made with pride, and its' BYO. We received excellent service from the wait staff, food was piping hot, and the chef stopped over to be sure everything was to our liking. I would highly recommend this restaurant. We will definitely be making a second stop before our holiday comes to an end.
Ben
Great meal!. We went here last night off the back of the positive reviews. When we made a booking, the owner did advise it was "casual dining" (as evidenced when we got there) but don't let this put you off. Who cares if the tables and chairs are plastic! The food was absolutely fantastic, everyone in our party enjoyed it. For mains we had the beef rendang, Mongolian lamb blackstrap and the seafood curry. All were as good as anything we'd had before. Food was also very reasonably priced. Free byo was a nice bonus. The chef also came out to check if we enjoyed our meal - obviously he takes a lot of pride in what he cooks.
You won't be disappointed if you give is place a go.

Amazing food and staff. Although this restaurant has an "average appearance", the food is AMAZING. Everything here is fresh and the chef here does know what he is doing very well. Curry, pad thai, and many other things are really beautiful. HIGHLY RECOMMEND to everyone.
Peter Hugall
Very good. The owner Anil is passionate about his food & it shows. Enjoyed a very flavoursome meal whilst talking to him about noosa & food. This place is a must to visit whilst in noosa. He recommends the Singapore noodles which we will try next time. Great to talk to someone passionate about what they are doing.
Theanthonywallace
As the owner will tell you when you call to make a booking "It's not fancy", and it is not. But book you must, because the locals all dine here. One local told me he comes here several nights a week, just to make sure the chef does everything right. Well l can tell you all the staff are customer focussed. All the food is prepared in a kitchen in full view, all fresh, from scratch. So the important bit the food "FANTASTIC", Thai prawns great, Ginger chixken very nice, Singapore noodles delicious, Roti best ever. No corkage. Do your taste buds a favour, get a taste of spice. Worth a half hour drive to get there. We wil go back again next week.

As a visitor to Noosa, I stumbled across Taste of Spice in an online search for restaurants in the area. I called to make a booking and the lovely chef clarified over the phone that it was not a "fancy" restaurant, but it is a place the locals like to eat. I reassured him that we were not after "fancy", just good food. He was right, the decor is not "fancy" but the food was awesome, the service was swift and friendly, and the price was very reasonable. We had a great meal, even the kids (generally fussy) commented the food was "yummy". Highly recommended by us.

Well worth the visit. Great food and service. Two different staff members asked if our food was good our if we need anything else. That's almost unheard of anywhere else. Then they thanked us for our business. Would definitely recommend it.
Matt
Great food and service. Went here a few weeks ago with my wife while on holidays.
Food was tasty and high quality. Excellent service from the owner. You could tell it is definitely a popular place with the locals!
We will be back.
Sarah Carter
This man, the chef/owner is just beautiful. His food is so fresh and tasty. The sweet and sour chicken was gorgeous as was the Thai chicken curry. The Singapore noodles didn't live up to expectations but on the whole it was lovely!
Chris
Taste of spice. Not a fine dining restaurant by any means, but all meals were full of flavour and carefully cooked by a clearly experienced chef.

I had takeaway, and can't wait to go back.

Unlike the reviewer below, I don't see why roti cannai with a Dahl curry is not authentic, and even if it isn't, it's totally delicious. So, Joy, toughen up princess!

Worst Malaysian Cooking Ever & Overpriced!!. We were up in Noosa for a few days when we noticed this restaurant full of people. This was a good signal for us to try. Given the crowd size, we were anticipating good food. Sadly we were disappointed!!

We ordered our food - roti channai, gado-gado & Malaysian chicken curry.
1/ The roti channai was served with lentil curry, not exactly authentic!
2/ The satay sauce that was served with gado-gado tasted like it came from a bottle not chef cooked. An authentic gado-gado does have broccoli in it!
3/ Chicken curry was do-able if you're feeling hungry.

We will definitely not return. When the chef asked us our opinion of the food, we didn't have the heart to tell him that the food was not up to par or authentic.

Also for the quantity given, it was way overpriced! Double insult-expensive bad tasting food! Restaurant atmosphere can certainly be improved, so it's not like we were paying for ambiance either.

We will certainly not return again.
Justin
Good Wholesome Malaysian. I can recommend this place for a variety of dishes. Chef always gives you a smile when walking in. Thank god Noosa has this place.
Jennelle Dupuy
How good was that?? Our family of 4 ordered Spring Rolls for entree, followed by Pad Thai Noodles, Sweet & Sour Pork, Butter Chicken & Special Fried Rice. Yummo!! Everything was delicious. The chef even came around to all the tables to check that we were happy! (He suggested the Singapore Noodles next time. A definite 'must do' when in Noosa. Might be a good idea to reserve a table!!

Well this was my first visit to Noosa and having read few of reviews we decided to give this one Try. Boy we were pleasantly surprised. Food was awesome with some great flavours. Service was great and Owner/Chef did take special care looking after each individual guest Requests. We loved Singapore Noodles,Gadho Gadho and Roti Chanai. Veg special Fried Rice was pretty special. Highly Recommend.. Would definitely visit when back.

Reasonable price n good food, some comments mentioned blending flavors but really good for us.

Great food, great prices. I have eaten here at least 8 times and on each occasion the food was great. The meals are all cooked from scratch with fresh ingredients. It is great value for money too. Plus the husband and wife team who run this restaurant are friendly and welcoming.
Julianne Radley
Great eatery. Friendly helpful staff. Fresh, tasty and delicious food. Prices were very reasonable. We especially liked the owner/chef Anil coming to speak with us. Would certainly dine at this restaurant again if visiting Noosa.
Ldillon1981
Yum!. 4 happy kids and 3 happy adults after our visit on Tuesday. The kids devoured the hokkein noodles, calamari and pad thai. I delighted in my laksa - fantastic. And the ginger chicken and stir fried vegetables were fantastic. Thanks for the attentive service from Anil. Will definitely be back when next in Noosa!
Rajpal10
Quite bland and tasteless fare, prawns were chewy, rice and noodle dishes lacked any asian spiciness, hugely dissapointed based on high review scores.
Wendy
Great food and great service. Highly recommend the Laska and Singapore Noodles. Have been twice and will definitely be back again next time I am in Noosa.
A Tourist
Eaten here twice in the last few days whilst on holidays. Great food both times!! Highly recommend the laksa and Singapore noodles. Will definitely be back.
Leonie MacCracken
We are regulars. We love the excellent fresh food, service, prices, and passion on the owners to make the customer happy. Thankfully they're also able to cater to special dietary requirements like requests for organic meat if you give them enough notice to source some. Love this place. Try it!
Ken
Great Food. We were first taken there by locals who said it was their favourite eating spot in Noosa. Been back nearly every third day and now it's our favourite. Pleasant owners, extremely relaxed and casual dining, terrific food. Come away feeling satisfied that you have had good value and enjoyed yourselves.
Pal.foeva
Definitely worth a try, we're going back there again for sure.. One of the best food I've ever had! we've had chilli prawn and pad thai. both were amazing! mouthwatering aroma, perfectly cooked veggies, good portion and not oily. great customer service. good price. convenient location. casual/comfy atmosphere. no wonder this place is loved by locals. i'd eat here every week if i was a local. we'll definitely going back there again!
Emily Wang
Worst Nasi Goreng I have ever had. Average food and a bit overpriced. The review had actually let me down :(
Paul Flanagan
Value, No frills, Just great food. Back packer or banker, if you want a great selection of Asian dishes, served well without fuss in a simple setting, this is for you. Main man Anil has a great little business here. No pretension, take-aways float past the diners offering tempting aromas of dishes to try next time. Locals love it and so will you. Has to be the best value in Noosa. Recommend you book weekends!
Pennydrops
Dissapointing. We got some takeaway here, usually we veer away from places that sell a range of Asian cuinsine, but we thought we would trust the reviews. We wanted to focus on the Malaysian dishes, which seems to be the main cuisine, the satay entree was good, nice peanut sauce, that seemed to be made from scratch. The rest if the meal was ordinary, perhaps this is because we had to order GF and we did not feel like a heavy curry main. We had hoped to order a laksa etc but we were told this may have gluten in it, really?? not been in any laksa we have made or ordered befor?! so we got a tom kai gai soup, its stock was ok, pretty bland, thankfully had some limes at our apartment, but sin of sins it had celery in it!!! our vegetable ginger stir fry also had celery in it and no semblance of ginger. It had other vegies but all was overpowered by an awful greasy charred taste. I love celery but it does not belong in any of this food, big no NO.
Due to the GF factor we also ordered fish cakes, they were rubbery yuk, & a bit too much on the fishy side, not fresh at all. We could not eat most of what we ordered, was v. disappointing. The service was friendly and informed re: GF. If we ordered more of the Malay style food perhaps our experience would have been better.
Carmen
Healthy & Fresh Asian. We've tried the Taste of Spice twice now during a long weekend visit to Noosa. The customer service here is exceptional which is the reason we went back the second time. We like that the chef/owner Anil is hands-on and seems to have a genuine interest in pleasing each and every customer and if you don't like something, tell Anil and he will listen to you to get it right.

We enjoyed a few of the dishes very much as we found the produce incredibly fresh and the flavors to be well-balanced without the grease and cornstarch that can be a gamble with Chinese restaurants. (They also offer Indian and Thai dishes but we didn't try any of these because we would be inclined to go to an Indian restaurant for Indian and a Thai restaurant for Thai . . . .)

Our favorites dishes were the chicken with vegetables and cashew nuts and the Singapore spicy noodles (which are authentic Singaporean and also not too spicy). We also liked the chili prawns but if you fall into the category of a gringo/howlie or Westerner, be warned that this dish without alterations is intensely spicy and it's hard to taste anything else unless you ask them to dial the spice down a bit which they will happily do upon request. With that said, the prawns were superbly fresh, perfectly cooked and the veggies were snap-fresh.

We'll try them again next time we're here.
Liz Farrington
We had a delicious meal, excellent service & a most enjoyable night. Anil & his staff were wonderful!
Food Inc.
This is without a doubt one of Noosa's greatest eateries. What a gem! The service is second to none based on professionalism and friendliness. The chef personally comes out to see how your food was and makes you feel very welcome, he was a delight! The BYO drinks option is great, a cheaper alternative and gives you the chance to bring your own personal drop to the table. And now onto the best part, the food! For the hot food enthusiast of the family I highly recommend a traditional lamb vindaloo cooked to perfection. Those seafood lovers will enjoy some of the best garlic king prawns on the bay, or a seafood laksa if you would like a bit of a mix. The dishes are graciously generous and will leave your food baby ready to pop! A Taste of Spice has been added to our favorites and we will defiantly be back again very soon.

Simply amazing. I had just travelled Thailand for a month before coming to Australia and this is hands down the best Pad Thai that I have had since, and maybe even ever... We have been in Noosa for just over 24 hours and have already been twice.
The experience is great too! The service is wonderful, and the chef even comes out and checks on your meals. It's an overall perfect place to eat.
We have two days left in Noosa and I'm sure we'll be back for more.
This is a DO NOT MISS. It's amazing. I'm serious.
Peter
Tasty Little Number. Had a fantastic clear soup - really fragrant, beautiful taste.
Fantastic friendly service. Will always go back!!
Kevin
Local and loving the food!. We discovered Anil a few years ago. My wife and I are regular diners at A Taste of Spice. The food is out of this world; the service is fantastic and every time both Anil and his lovely wife make time to speak with each of their patrons. The seafood laksa is a must ! Thanks Anil ...
Sharron
Local and Love the Food!. We discovered Anil and his lovely wife Challinni several years age and love everything about their wonderful restaurant. The food is out of this world; the service is fantastic, and the head chef never misses coming out to speak with his customers every visit! If you are looking for great tastes, fresh ingredients and authentic flavour - then A Taste of Spice is for you! Great job Anil, please don't ever leave...
Love Food
Always a little dubious when there's Thai, Malay, Chinese (western and traditional) on the menu but glad we went for it anyway. We stayed with Malay and the chicken curry was delicious! Reminded me of chicken curry back in Malaysia. The char kuay teow was pretty good too (and that's despite half of the ingredients that should be in that dish you can't get in Aus). Very good Malaysian food. We recommend it.

Went here with family and met Anil Dutt the owner/chef (for 23 years he tells me). Excellent flavors and aromas from the kitchen. Could have been in KL.

Delightful. A MUST at Noosa!. After reading the wonderful reviews here on urbanspoon, my partner and I decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed. The owner and chef, Anil Dutt, was absolutely lovely, and knows his stuff! We had the Thai fish cakes and the steamed dim sim as starters. Both were wonderful, especially the thai fish cakes which were fragrant with the aroma of kaffir lime leaves. Upon recommendation from Anil, we had the singapore noodles and the malaysian chicken curry as our mains. Can i just say YUM! We have already decided that we will be back before this weekend is over. A very casual dining experience at a restaurant which probably makes most of its business from takeaway. Nonetheless, a wonderful evening out. A must for anyone visiting Noosa. We wish this guy was our local!
Annie
Freshest food and so tasty. This is a restaurant not to be missed. The chef and staff are attentive and the dining atmosphere (very low key) is just right for a simple and casual night out. EXCELLENT in every aspect. Thanks to Anil and the team you are great!
Dee
A restaurant that does well without the pretence. "This meal was delicious! It reminds me of the food I had in Malaysia. Why don't you expand?" He knew the answer straight away, why would he expand when he has a good thing here - here, he has the power to control the food and its quality, and he's doing well - sometimes he has people waiting up to an hour for a seat. So why ruin a good thing?

Our party arrived late. We only realised once we sat down that we'd soon be the only ones in the restaurant and it was getting late (~9pm). Even so, the owner came out and made us feel welcome.

After a good five minutes looking through the extensive menu, we ordered. Then we started on the good stuff (wine) and waited eagerly for our meals to arrive. The roti canai (or with Australians in mind 'roti chanai') was reaally good. The roti was light and well made, the curry supporting it was delicious too. I had high expectations for my main. The pad see ew didn't disappoint. The flavours and spice were just as I liked it and for such a reasonable price. Are you sure this place is in Noosa Heads?

Now it was well and truly into 10pm and not once did we feel like we were a burden (and at this point I realised no, I'm definitely not in Sydney). Once we were ready to pay the bill, the owner came to have a small chat with us, he recommended the Singapore noodles and the laksa and so I'm passing them on to you.

Come here for a great meal, Noosa is a place of high end restaurants but if you can pour your own water and do without the white table cloth - you'll love it.
Becschep
The food here is extremely fresh, with all the dishes home made from scratch. Highlight was the dim sims which you could clearly see and taste the vegies in, and also Anil the chef, who is a gracious and friendly host. If you're looking for a low fuss, tasty meal that's good value, this is your place.

Cafe Junkie
A great cheap place for Asian food. Deliciously fresh food and place that doesn't pretend to be something it's not. Bravo.
Enjoy
Food is true to name. Tasty, authentic and very friendly staff. Remember BYO. Small place to dine in yet very surprising. Have returned to sample take away. This place prepares very good food at a very reasonable price. Best value no doub.
Noosa Local
Best kept secret. We are locals and is safe to say this is our favourite spot for a cheeky Asian meal. Highly recommend the Singapore noodles and Roti Channai....yum. Anil, the chef, is a local treasure. Quality vegetarian is hard to find in Noosa, Anil never lets us down.
I Love Food
Local and love it !!!!. We are a local family who order takeaway once/ twice a week and Absolutley love "A Taste Of Spice". The food is fresh, healthy and delicious. My sister has a seafood allergy and they are super careful when preparing our meals. We really trust and recommend for yummy affordable food!!!
Easytraveller
Sorry but def NOT the best Laksa on the Sunshine Coast. We had numerous dishes and unfortunately were disappointed with them all. Bland and stodgy :(
The Gourmand
My experience with a taste of spice has always been fantasic. The owner Anil & his wife are always so helpful. The food is always fresh and great I have been going to Taste of spice for 2 years now and never had a bad meal. The Butter Chicken is to die for and his steamed dim sims are the best i have ever tryed. You would not go wrong eating in or take away food, it is cheap fresh and yummy.
