Review Maisie's Seafood And Steakhouse - Noosaville

Spooka FoodCritic
The Vibe in this place felt low, but the main concern was the price of everything, we looked online to find a restaurant and came across Maisie's and the price's on the website was reasonably well price so we booked a table and when we got there the price on the menu jumped a considerable amount so we addressed this to the managers and she advised at the start that this will be the price and she couldn't do anything about it, we where thinking of leaving which she could pick up that vibe so she came back to us and advised she will try and call the owner to see why it wasnt changed online to match the existing menu and to see if she could give us the price online, so she went away and came back and she said the owner wasnt answering so advise that the price had changes twice since it was last updated online but not sure why it wasn't updated, so she said she would discount the price for us which we really appreciate that greatly. We got the the Hot and Cold seafood platter for 2 and it came out and looked pretty small for 2 people but it did taste good and seemed fresh. The beers are way over priced as a mid strength beer was $11 which to me is crazy for that type of beer so I only got one, if they where priced reasonably I would of got more but I only had the one and same with the hole table which which we all mainly drank water. The service was not bad but seemed a bit unprofessional in the way they presented them selves. If they could make some changes they could make this a 5 star restaurant but they way it is now I class it as a 3 star unfortunately.

We had quite a bit of food here. By memory, we got a hot/cold platters, 1 cold platter, dozen oysters, 2 whole lobsters, Thai beef salad and fisherman’s basket. We were a big group of seafood foodies and everything was great! I really liked the oysters and the hot/cold platters! Definitely great for seafood lovers.

Great place if you want a great seafood dining experience. Wonderful service, great atmosphere and thoroughly enjoyed the soft rock 80s music in the background. We had the Hot & Cold Seafood Platter for two and shared the Seafood Chowder as entree. Great way to start our long weekend at Noosa.

Excellent place for a treat. We had the seafood for 2 and left very happy (and full). Delicious food - especially the oysters (could be my favourite on the coast) and the tartare sauce was yummy. Plenty of other choices on the menu but quite frankly why would you pass on the seafood!! Casual vibe and happy team ready and willing to help. Super recommend!

I went with a bunch of friends and wasn't overly impressed with the food. My friend got her steak and asked for medium rare and it was very well done. I got the Thai beef salad which was average. It was dripping in dressing which was super salty like pure soy sauce. My beef was cooked nicely though. Service was average I would say.

Absolutely smashing seafood!! Had the cold platter for two, seafood chowder, lobster and prawn spaghetti. 😋 Highly recommend!! Thank you Chef Gee and the staff for a lovely experience. 😊

Maisie’s the favourite here on Gympie terrace. Great service and very amazing food. I was hanging out to try their seafood chowder they have it as a $17 entree but it was packed full of seafood and thick served in its own crusty cob. Had it for main and it was very filling. John went with the chilli prawn spaghetti they offered mild or hot so even if you don’t like too spicy it could be okay. He was impressed it had lots of big meaty prawns and a tasty sauce. Recommend will come again #noosaville If this info was helpful please like and follow my reviews as we eat our way around Noosa Cheers

Had another great night at Maisie's. Food is good but the chowder was a bit bland with tiny prawns. Everything else was spot on. Love Martina the waitress who is friendly and helpful. Prices have gone up slightly since last visit but we'll worth the money for a night out in Noosaville. Looking forward to going back again.

Well-trained, friendly staff who had an excellent knowledge of the menu & just seemed to appear when you needed something. Food was amazing. Child's steak was an eye fillet! Had cold seafood platter, reef & beef (apparently the best my husband has had and yes he has had a few!) and I had the snapper. All cooked to perfection. Desserts were about $3-$5 dearer than most places but I was glad we ordered them and when they arrived we could see why. There were additions to the desserts that complimented them eg shortbread with cream brûlée and blueberries & crystalised orange with warmed orange & almond cake. Just Devine! Highly recommend if you're in the Noosa Heads area

We had the hot and cold seafood platter for two with lobster, was the best ever. Hats off to Josh, after our booking was misplaced he went out of his way to find us a table considering they were booked out. Would definately recommend and be going back on our next visit from Victoria.

Fantastic service and beautiful food. I would highly recommend Maisies. It will definitely be a place for the family to visit again... hopefully soon.

One of the best surf and turf meals I have ever had. Service was fantastic, waitress had good banter, food was amazing and honestly couldn't fault our night there. Made for a great date night.

Ordered the steak with seafood absolutely Devine best steak ever! Lovely staff and relaxed atmosphere. Keep up the good work

Very disappointed for my daughter, her friend and my 4yr old grandson up from Adelaide. I recommended Maisies ... they drove down from Tinbeerwah last night in pouring rain for takeaway fish and calamari. The fish was oily and tasteless and the calamari was so tough my grandson gagged on it. To say the least I am mortified that I made the recommendation for them to waste $28 on food they had to throw out. I have always been one of your biggest fans - had my 65th there last May and I am so very diasappointed with last night's efforts. Not good enough.

Awesome restaurant staff knowledgeable friendly and food is amazing also very well priced. Love it

Had a wonderful lunch today. The staff honoured our out of date voucher which we were very grateful for. The service was friendly and cheerful and the food was fresh and plentiful. The profiteroles were to die for. Lovely setting for a quiet and delightful Sunday lunch.

Had lunch at Maisies yesterday and the Food was fabulous (especially the Cray Fish), the Service was great (could not have been any better... great choice of Staff) and wonderful spot to have a relaxing lunch with a view of the Noosa River. Thank you......we enjoyed our time at Maisies and we will be back.

Wow! Best chowder I have had apart from it San Francisco! Still matches that! Great steak, service and all in a fabulous night!

Great dinner and lunch spot. Quality excellent and prices here much better than Noosa Heads.

Dropped in for lunch. Beautiful day so we sat out the front in the shade. Staff were super friendly and very helpful and there's table service. We ordered the seafood platter and fisherman's basket - food came out pretty quickly, portions were a good size and the seafood tasted really fresh and full of flavour. The chips were also perfectly cooked and we thought it was reasonably priced. They were also very accommodating with food allergies - would definitely come here again.

The staffs are nice and remind us that price we saw is for takeaway. Then we ordered the fish and chips, calamari and chips. They tasted sooo nice and we would like to come back again.

We were (3x couples) all looking for somewhere to go and get lunch, drove to Noosaville only 10 minutes from our apartments and came across this place, liked the look and went in to be seated by the friendly staff, which we did, then a couple changed their minds and said why don't we grab takeaway fish and chips, and go eat them on the Noosa river bank, the fishermans basket and chips I had was great, couldn't fault it, scallops, prawns fish, mussels etc and all our friends thoroughly enjoyed theirs too. Thanks.

The restaurant was very pleasant with a family kind of feel. It has lots of photos up around the place.

The menu has a good variety of seafood and non seafood items. Prices were reasonable.

We ordered the hot and cold seafood entree platters to share. Happy with this choice as you get a variety of all types of seafood. All cooked well and with good flavour. There was something which seemed to be like an aioli sauce on the plate but had no flavour.

Staff were friendly but not attentive.

Visited Maisies after not having eaten here in years! The staff were lovely and the food was ok but not great. I had the lobster and my husband had the Gympie terrace sizzling plate. The sizzling plate required all the seafood to be peeled which didn't leave much to eat but the taste of the sauce was lovely. The lobster had more sauce than lobster but also tasted nice.
Stephen Lightfoot
Amazing food - great value. Staff were all great as well. Couldn't fault it. The wife had the lobster and I had the Gympie seafood combo which was so good!

We are here as it looked like it had a nice friendly atmosphere - which it did, the staff were very nice. But the food was barely average. The seafood sizzling plate looked great but the seafood was dry and overcooked. The barra was just really blah. A bit 1980's. Not good unfortunately.

The food here is incredible! So fresh and fantastic value. The meals were served HOT! The staff are beyond friendly - such a pleasurable experience! I had the sizzling seafood plate with garlic! It was quite strong which I liked but not for everyone! Can't wait to return!

Great location, exceptional service and good seafood. Reasonable price. The barramundi was delicious, and my family was also a big fan of the steaks however the cold platter was just okay. Prawns and oysters were nothing special, crab was nice but I found the bug to be very tough and a little rubbery. Definitely wish I'd opted for the hot platter instead as that looked sensational. Again, the service here was really great - very friendly attentive staff. Great portion size and reasonable price. We also opted for dessert, which honestly was a bit of a let down. I understand a seafood beach joint isn't going to have the best creme brûlée but this one was over set, too gelatinous, the custard itself was a little undersweetened and the toffeed sugar surface was unevenly thick and tasted a little burnt. The orange cake was much better, fresh, light and really tasty.

We have been eating here on and off for 20 years. We have never had a bad meal and the fresh seafood buffet is to die for. Highly recommend if your in the mood for seafood. Just try to get a table outside.

The food here is old-fashioned, but not in a comfort food way.
The pan fried prawn dish was a dozen tiny prawns swimming in oil flavoured with garlic and chilli. The accompanying salad had some sort of creamy, mayonnaise dressing.
The prices were steep for what we received.
The meal was OK, but there is fresh, modern, appetising looking and delicious food available in Noosa for the same prices.
Noosa was one of our favourite places on the East Coast, a seamless combination of seaside glam and beach bum. You can strut your stilettos down the street to a cocktail bar, or wonder down to the chippy in your flip flops, and you all know I like doing BOTH🙂. Anyhoo, fancied some seafood without breaking the bank and found this amazing value for money restaurant on the iconic waterfront of on the Noosa River.
Liza
So overated! Dated decor. Disappointed with our meals. The seafood platter was seriously 90% shell! Barely any actual fish. We all left feeling hungry and $150 poorer.

Lunch at Maisie's, impressed me yet again. What a lovely place to wile away the afternoon with a Kilcoy steak and perfectly cooked chips accompanied by a tasty Tasmanian Pinot...back for the Lobster lunacy offer in a few days 😋

A great old style restaurant with food and service to match. Family enjoyed a mix of steak and seafood dishes plus desserts. All thoroughly enjoyed. Restaurant was flat out (including the arrival of the pensioner bus) but service was friendly and efficient. Tourist prices but tourist town I guess. We would come back.

Disappointing seafood platters which were on "garlic overload" and local reef fish which was caught well south of New Zealand. Finished off with a mystery guest on the bill (listed an extra meal). Fair to average - maybe it was a bad night.

We were not fans of this place at all! We had the calamari, chips and salad and it was not enjoyable at all! I actually had to go buy a smoothie afterwards to feels good! The calamari didn't taste fresh or even close, was pretty oily and the salad was not nice at all! It was smothered in dressing and it was pretty much half red onion! Will definitely not return. Was sad after seeing so many good reviews!

Had lunch at Maisie's after hearing many positive things about them for years and had a great meal. I ordered the Fishermans basket which was delicious but after seeing all the seafood platters come out I wish I had ordered those. Definitely go on an empty stomach because their meals are large. Will be going back.

Fabulous seafood, fresh and really reasonably priced. Venue needs a renovation but food is great and service fantastic. Huge desert menu and large servings of seafood. Would definitely go back!

Very nice place. Old School appearance and food but why would you change it. The steak and Lobster combo was amazing. Steak cooked to your liking, very juicy, half Lobster just came out of its shell. We will be back soon for more Lobster. Thanks guys.

Very friendly staff, good table service, food is great. The serving sizes weren't too bad at all, either, and there's quite a variety of dishes on the menu. Would recommend for sure. In a nice spot, too.

Absolutely awesome meal during our short trip to Noosa from Gold Coast with my husband and girl. The best seafood platter in town, fresh ingredients with affordable price. My baby girl loves the prawns and bugs so much. Great service as well!

I needed a nice steak. And that was exactly what I got. What I didn't expect was excellent service. I ordered the steak/oyster combo bit swapped out the mornay oysters for natural, and potato for steamed veg. In Melbourne they would have refused. Here, no problem. All the food was delicious

It was bordering on average besides the nice NZ waitress. Steak was tasteless. It's like the place still operated when Maisie was a teenager. Fish dishes varied from average/ fair to good
Pricing however was right up there ....... My opinion is that Maisie's needs to get with it and serve more "modern day" versions of what Maisie served all those years ago. Good luck

Good old fashioned Surf n Turf!

We were very kindly accommodated last night for dinner with no reservation on what appeared a very busy evening.

The service was fantastic, very friendly and very attentive. Not an extensive wine menu but surprised by the reasonable pricing - $38 for a bottle of Pinot. We had the Cold Seafood Platter as a starter which was fresh and tasty. Both had steaks which were cooked beautifully and both meals were served promptly. Old fashioned side salad was a refreshing touch - wouldn't want it any other way!

Good to see the place still in the hands of the original owners. Will certainly visit again next time we're in Noosaville!

GOOD PUB FOOD WITHOUT THE PUB. We ate at Maisie's tonight. Overall we had a good, satisfying and tasty meal. The heading I gave is NOT a criticism, it is a description. Most of the food we saw being served reminded me of eating at good quality pubs in major regional cities while we travelled. Service friendly and efficient. The Maître D is very jolly and fun to talk to. Food was not really sparkling but certainly acceptable. I started with the seafood chowder IN a large bread roll which had been hollowed out. I think it should have had more butter and garlic as the taste was good but a little bland. A MAJOR criticism is that the chowder was hot but the bowl it came in was cold. This resulted in the peripheral food being luke warm instead of hot. Evelyn had a vegetable side dish as her entree. It was a bit on the small side but at $6.50 was not overpriced. My main meal was a 300g fillet steak. It comes with a boiled potato and sour cream plus a few mushrooms, asparagus and salad. As before the plate was cold and should be warm. The pepper sauce it came with was just like gravy and had NO peppercorns or ground pepper in it. VERY disappointed but the steak itself was tender, tasty and rare as asked and made up for the un-peppery sauce. As I said before, this is NOT a fine dining place. It is a family place. Evelyn had a macadamia coated barramundi fillet which came with a mango and avocado salad. It was nicely cooked and a reasonable size. We shared another side dish of vegetables. No room for dessert. Overall a reasonable meal that could have been a lot better with only a few changes. Certainly worth a visit if hungry.

Fantastic. We took visiting family to Maisie's for dinner Tuesday 8th July. The food and service were fabulous. I ordered the Crab & Prawns from the Specials board and received a whole cleaned Spanner Crab with lots of fresh fruit and Asian salad in a lettuce leaf along with my choice of garlic prawns, it was a huge dish and very filling for $26.50. The family ordered the Hot and Cold Seafood Platter for 2 (3 shared it successfully). It was massive and full of lots of delicious fresh seafood. The waitress was very attentive and very pleasant. All in all a wonderful night out!

Its a seafood caf: huge mains, chips with everything, basic winelist. Perfect if you want a big seafood pigout.

Best sizzling prawns we've had in a long time. Friendly staff and competitive prices.
Thoroughly recommended

Disappointing. We ate at Maisie's last week and ordered fish and chips. Unfortunately the fish was the wrong kind of fish to batter which made it thick and very chewy ( I was unable to eat it) the chips were also undercooked and tasteless. This is not good enough for $17 fish and chips.

Judging by other reviews they may have been having an 'off' day but I wouldn't come back.

Great night out! The interior/ambience of the restaurant was great. They haven't tried to glam it up, it unashamedly pays tribute to it's roots, which is nice to see. Service is fantastic, and food DELICIOUS. My fiancée and I shared the Giant Seafood Platter which was worth every cent of the $110 we paid. Fresh, delicious. We're not locals but if we come back to Noosa, we'll definitely come back to Maisie's!

The scallop starter was gorgeous. The steak main was nice too. Great service, very friendly waiter. Cost $220 for 4 adults, 3 starters, 4 Mains, 2 desserts and a couple of beers for the boys (byo wine!). Worth a try if ur a seafood lover.

I'll be back.... I love the fact Masies pays tribute to its great History and that it's old school decor and menu are both unapologetic and uncontrived. The service was great and our little family was made to feel very welcome. We both had the melt in your mouth eye fillet which was cooked to perfection.

Fantastic Brilliant Food was so great. Group of 5 with all different meals ordered. All were so pleased.

Love it!. A friend took us to Maisies and we were very impressed. Although the decor is nothing special, the service is great and the food is delicious. We have returned and found it just as good the second time. It is great value for money and gives a very relaxed dining experience.

Ordered oysters kilpatrick, fishermans basket and lobster mornay. Just perfect and delicious. Great service. The decor is a flashback, but they pull it off with a great historical feeling. Great atmosphere not pretentious at all. Good value with decent serving sizes.
Rob
Good service but unfortunately the food was disappointing. Ordered four steaks all came overcooked. Lobster was also overlooked. Cold platter starter was not worth the money. Quite expensive for the quality we received.
Coffee_lover
Awesome food, great service!!! I had the steak and oysters and I am gluten and dairy intolerant they were super helpful in adapting the meal. My partner was really happy with his steak and prawns. Certainly some of the best food we have eaten!!!

Walked from Noosa Heads and decided Maisie's was the place for lunch. We shared a seafood platter which was delightful. The winelist was reasonably priced. The service was faultless. A magic afternoon. Pity we had to walk back again.
K Taylor
Over-rated. I had seafood basket which was basic fried stuff but my other companions each ordered steak. this came back rare instead of medium so they were sent back. However if they'd come back ok this wouldnt have been a problem but they came back exactly the same. We ended up leaving and ordering a Dominos Pizza. Not what you expect from a restaurant that was recommended to us.
