Review L Osteria - North Fitzroy

I had dinner here on New Year’s Eve and it was great. Good food great and friendly service and great pace. Wine was excellent too.

I came here for dinner and drinks with a few friends on a recommendation and was not disappointed. It was some of the best Italian food I've had in a long time. My favourite dish of the night was probably the thin crust pizza which was cooked to perfection. The gnocchi was also a highlight. Service was excellent and staff were very friendly. Will be coming back.

Everything was exceptional. The owners are lovely people, speak fluent Italian so makes the experience even better. Their food best resembles traditional Italian food you'll probably have in Italy. Everything from entrees to dessert was amazing. The pizza base was very soft and the toppings were rich in taste. Would highly recommend trying to place for any occasion. For the price they charge you and the quality of food you get, I think it's the best food to value ratio. This place is one to remember and probably the best Italian food you'll have in Melbourne.

We celebrated my husbands birthday last Saturday night with 84 guests. The quality and quantity of the food was absolutely amazing and delicious. The service was outstanding, with so many people to look after i did not expect things to run like clock work, but they did. My guests complimented the staff throughout the night. Kern was incredibly professional, amiable and nothing was a bother, all our requests were fulfilled. I highly recommend L'Osteria restaurant for a quiet dinner or for a large function, you will not be disappointed!!

This was the first time that I was at an Italian restaurant and experience was just fantastic. Starting from a friendly staff to the starter italian bread, then main meal with extra complimentary salad and finishing with a fabulous dessert was one of the best experiences I ever had. Everything was so freshly cooked and tasted amazing. Highly recommend this place. I might be going back in couple of days.

The friendly staff and old style decor combined to create an elegant but welcoming atmosphere. The pizza (my personal weakness, I just can't order anything else at an Italian establishment) was delicious with fresh ingredients and very flavorsome. Overall I really enjoyed the experience and I'm looking forward to going again.

Really disappointing. My family and I went here for my birthday dinner and not one person was happy with what they ate. I had the gorgonzola gnocchi and couldn't believe how bland it was it tasted like gnocchi with just cream sauce I had to drown it in salt to give it flavour. The gnocchi themselves were good though. I'm not sure if something has changed because the reviews looked so good!

Best restaurant food we've eaten in ages. Loved the homemade bread and the veal was excellent as were the desserts. The chef introduced himself at the end of the meal and gave us a liqueur on the house. Would highly recommend this restaurant either as a group or romantic dinner.

Had a lovely meal here during the week. A bit of a wait between courses but that's because the servers are also helping out in the kitchen. This just adds to the charm of the restaurant and you appreciate the food even more. Ordered the lamb chops and steak as we weren't in the mood for pasta. But the next time we come back we will definitely have the pasta.

OMG! I feel like I'm eating my nonna's food
WONDERFUL Italian traditional food. WONDERFUL friendly service. The ravioli were fresh, fresh, fresh v obviously home made. The seafood risotto was a bit on the salty side but again really fresh and bursting with flavour. I am definitely coming back again.

Absolutely loved it. Great character, staff and food. Authentic Italian, bruschetta was a great start and very well priced, side salad excellent, had a great element of sweetness. Mains were beautiful, gnocchi Gorgonzola, prefect density and Gorgonzola wasn’t over-bearing. Potato pizza really topped it off. Potatoes cooked beautifully, and pizza base and sauce were great. Tiramisu and panacotta were again very reasonably priced and extremely enjoyable. Thanks for the hospitality!

Delicious food! Amazing friendly staff! Had such a fantastic dinner, and the Panna Cotta for dessert was perfect! Will be back for sure! Thanks guys!!

Food that warms the heart

Feels like right out of nonna’s kitchen. It’s hard to describe how very homey it feels eating the food. Does not feel ‘commercial’ if there is such a thing. Started with the pizza and it felt very home made simple precise flavours. The gnocchi was lovely and soft inside. The risotto was cooked just right not to soggy not dry. Had to mentally tell myself to stop eating. Ambience was very rustic classic and suitable for large groups. Surprised this place is not choker blocks busy. Definitely coming back.

Excellent service. Friendly family run business. Food is consistently good. Have been coming here on and off for about 3 years and always enjoy the experience.

Exquisite food, fantastic service and a lovely ambience. Staff go above and beyond to create an enjoyable and unforgettable experience. Couldn't ask for more!

Not good!!!!! Maybe they do pasta and pizza really well, but our order of scallops and Milanese veal were quite awful. The best thing about our meal was the calamari.... this was spectacular. We should have stuck with two main serves of this and we would have been very very happy. The service was prompt and attentive but not enough to prompt us to return.

We came here based on Zomato reviews. We just wanted to grab a takeaway pizza and pasta to share.
Service was amazing. The chef whipped us up a tasty pasta to our liking. Pizza was fresh and tasty! They even through in some special extras for us!
Highly recommend and will definitely be back to support this local business.
Breakfastpiggy
A very up beat and funky cafe. Nice and friendly staff. They have a simple yet very effective and delicious menu. Coffee is great and so is ambiance 💕🐷

Being a family run restaurant it is great to see the younger generation taking the driver's seat.
Decor is dated - but its perfect!

I loved a dishon the old menu - when we come here I always ask the staff if my chosen pasta will be made for me - there has never been an issue to date.

Bruschetta is on point. Pizza is delicious. Pasta is perfect. Wine is always unpretentiously on point.

We had a wonderful experience at L'Osteria! My friends and I are only in Melb for a few days and were craving some good Italian food. We stumbled upon L'Osteria and to be quite honest, were a bit wary when we sat down. But the food and service was absolutely phenomenal. We had asked for bread for the table and the owner brought us freshly baked rolls, and then a free loaf of their garlic pizza. We had chosen this place primarily because one of my friends has dietary restrictions that makes it difficult to find choices at Italian joints and there were plenty of options here. They even brought us complimentary Pana Cotta and my friend berries so that she would be able to enjoy a dessert as well. Would recommend highly!
Erin Lacey
Very family friendly and great meals. Mains were running a bit late (not that we had noticed) so they provided complimentary entrees and then a complimentary dessert pizza at the end of the night. I got the mussel pasta, it was delicious and just the right size Erving. A good family run Italian restaurant.

Sadly, sadly utterly disappointing. I was excited by all the reviews, but the vegan orichettie was bland, not even fully cooked, with just a bit of chopped tomatoes and basil. That was the sum total of it - and no excuse as I've had breathtaking Italian food in places like Maccaroni Osteria in Clifton Hill. The vegan fritters were limp, bland, tasteless - the disrespect to vegans while trying to make money off them, is just offensive. They didn't even try here - if you are going to explicitly have a vegan menu, then make more of an effort!

Had an amazing dining experience here for my partner's birthday. We enjoyed the capesante gartinate as an entree. Both us are seafood bandits and shared both the spaghetti pescatore and the penne dall' osteria. We're both delectable and the would definitely come back again. The friendly staff really gave the dining experience a homely feel. The ambience was romantic and intimate and the food was divine. Recommend to all!

Absolutely fantastic! Pizza, pasta and calamari highly recommended! Service was friendly and prices are completely reasonable for such great food.

Incredible. First time dining at L'Osteria and I was blown away. Had the whitebait for entree which was delicious and perfectly salty to warm up an appetite. For our main we had the chicken breast with truffle and gnocchi Gorgonzola which were both elegant and extraordinary. Seeing as I live around the corner I will be returning here very soon. Perfect ambience and perfect service. A faultless meal.

A lovely Saturday night at L'osteria! Food was exceptional and I'd hardly recommend the Bordetto main - it was so delicious (hard to find a delicious carb free dish!). The kids all enjoyed their pastas and the atmosphere was reminiscent of being at someone else's home for dinner! Gracious hosts and will be back again for sure!

Genuine Italian food just beyond Carlton and Lygon Street. Hidden away on Nicholson Street of Fitzroy North is L'Osteria, a family run classic Italian restaurant. I had the Primavera Risotto, which was abundant with fresh seasonal vegetables in a light veggie-based broth and my partner had the melt-in-your-mouth gnocchi in a Napoletana sauce. Both were deliciously simple, seasoned perfectly, and just the way traditional Italian food should be. The service was warm, friendly and impeccable and I love the dimly lit atmosphere that makes it perfect for dates. I noticed that there was a perfect mix of couples, families and large dinner parties which gave the restaurant a good buzz and a steady hum of lively chatter. I would love to come back to try their other dishes. Highly recommended!

Has the mystique and charm that reminds you of The typical Italian restaurant in the alleys of Rome. The place is family owned and they used to run their restaurant in Italy so they have done very well to bring the culture and charm with them to Fitzroy. Food is consistent and very fresh. The gnocchi Gorgonzola is an absolute must have.

On the weekend 16 of us went to L'Osteria to celebrate my birthday. I had never been there before but decided to try it out. The place has an old world charm about it, like a little italian family restaurant and we were not disappointed. The hosts were extremely lovely and accommodating, the music was simple and not overpowering and the food was delicious. We were very spoilt with food tastings and we found out later the Chef has had 25 years of culinary experience whilst living and cooking over in Italy. My whole family had a wonderful time and enjoyed their evening immensely. We will happily come back again.

Beautiful meal Lovely hosts Great menu .Cant believe I have lived in the area so long and have only just visited. Will return regularly so many items on the menu I want to try !!

The worst "salty" pasta (duck sauce) I ever had, it was inedible. Please taste your own food before you send it out, or review your recipe. Despite waiting an hour for something I couldn't eat, they gave us free drinks and I didn't pay for the meal. I would go back, but only for a salad.

Came here with a group of friends and we had a delightful experience. Amazing food and very friendly staff. They also have amazing vegetarian options! Would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone!

Very casual and unassuming local Italian joint. Service was great and food was simple but delicious. Our table of four had combinations of entree, pasta, secondi, pizza and dessert across three courses and every dish was uncomplicated but delicious.

There were a handful of older Italian families dining whilst we were there which is always a good sign and just adds to the recommendation.

We decided to drop in to L'Osteria for dinner after work and were tired, hungry and grumpy. After checking out the menu for 15 minutes and deciding on two different sardine dishes, we were told that they were off the menu because the sardines hadn't been delivered. We were not happy at not being told that when we were handed the menus but decided to choose something else as there was such a lovely selection of other dishes choose from.

We were not disappointed with our second choices - the rockling fish of the day was amazing and my pasta pescatore (which I requested to be done in a white wine sauce rather than a tomato based sauce) was absolutely delicious. The pasta was cooked perfectly and the seafood was not padded out with lumps of cheap fish as is the case at some restaurants.

The warm bread roll with a choice of butter or oil/balsamic was a nice touch while we waited for our meal. But what really impressed us, aside from the delicious food that we ordered, was we were given a complimentary starter and a dreamy panacotta to share "to make up for the fact they had no sardines".

The service was great and I think this restaurant deserves a special mention for going out of their way to make sure their "grumpy" clients left happy! We did and we will be back :)

If you are in Melbourne, it doesn't matter if you are a true Italian (like us) or not, you should try this restaurant. The food is delicious, especially pizza, focaccia and fish and recipes are real Italian ones. The staff is very friendly, polite and professional. It is also competent to receive particular requests (suitable for allergic people and for those who suffer from celiac disease). It is not far from the city center, easily reachable through public transport (tram).

Such amazing hosts (the owners of this place)...We went to this restaurant last night for dinner & it did not disappoint! From the second we walked in we were wined & dined, the food was delicious & the staff were lovely! It was also great to see the owners so involved and passionate about their restaurant, the customer service and the quality of the food! Highly recommend this place, must try!

What an incredible night! It was like someone had swept us off our magic carpet and landed us in bologne! Our Favourite thing more than anything else was the loving, warming and super authentic service. It felt like we were family! We had met the family for the first time and yes admittedly, my brother went to Uni with the owner's son, but they didn't have to spoil us with special entrees and desserts, and limoncello shots! 🍋🍋 that's mum and the chef in the picture! Best italian food we've had since going to Italy in 2012. Definitely try the carbonara 👌 yum!! GRAZIE!! Thanks for having us 😘

Now my review may or may not be bias because they gave us complementary dessert (pana cotta) at the end of our dinner! Haha.

BUT we came here for a Sunday night dinner at around 6pm and the place was very quiet. The staff were gorgeous and we comfortably sat on a table for 6.

Seafood platter was a bit underwhelming quality and quantity wise but that was made up for in the quality of their pizza and pasta as well as their service! I had the gluten free spaghetti marinara and I could barely finish it all and it was delicious!

Overall a good option for a night out if you're an coeliac or gluten intolerant because they have plenty of options!
David
Brilliant hosts. Went above and beyond. Gnocchi was the standout dish. The complimentary night cap drinks and dessert was a great touch! Great place for a group to dine.
Sarah
Food was good, not great, just good. But the customer service and atmosphere of the restaurant was exemplary. I absolutely loved my dinner here, will not hesitate to go back. They went above and beyond.

Chicken took over 1 hour to come out and it was still raw. Table service was horrible as it took at least 30 minutes for them to take our order. Would not recommend

L'Osteria is a very lovely and authentic place. The owners and staff are friendly. And you get superb food for a reasonable price.
Overall very satisfying stay and i will come again.
Cheers.

A really lovely restaurant. We went there a month ago and enjoyed it so much we returned last night. Great selection of pasta and excellent steak. The staff are what make the place though - its a family operated business and they are so friendly and hospitable. They were very busy yesterday and apologized because there was a slight delay with our meals, then to our surprise brought out a plate of (stunning) calimari and chips. Later on they alsl gave us some delicious cake with our coffee, followedby homemade limoncello. Really lovely people. The restaurant also has a nice atmosphere and isn't too noisy, so it's great if you want to talk (hard to do in so many noisy places nowadays).

I come here every few months for family occasions.
The food is always delicious AND they cater for vegans! (I'm just vego but it's still great!) I'm obsessed with the Gorgonzola and pear gnocchi: it's delicious.
Presentation of the food is rustic and celebrates the ingredients, which are always fresh and flavoured and cooked to perfection.
The best thing about this place has to be the customer service. It's run by the one family and they are some of the kindest people; we always feel welcomed.
I think this place is my favourite restaurant!

A wonderful local restaurant that boasts Italian authenticity. The atmosphere in L'Osteria is really something special with fantastic service and food that is bound to excite the tastebuds. My personal favourite would be the Gnocchi Gorgonzola. Highly recommend.

I have been to L'Osteria a number of times now over the past few years and it always delivers the goods!

The ambience is rustic and it takes you to an authentic setting somewhere in Italy.

The overall atmosphere is comforting and homely, namely because of the personalised service from the owners and their staff.
They greet my family and I by name and take the time to have a chat every time we go!

The food is traditional and unlike many Italian restaurants has an authentic taste.

The friendly atmosphere and exceptional food keeps us going back for more!

Would recommend this restaurant to anyone who is serious about a quality Italian meal.
Pmerriwe
Beautifully prepared, wholesome food is why we think of L'Osteria as somewhere to share a meal with friends. Simply put the staff are wonderful, the food is divine and we keep coming back.
Nhon
Shocking experience at this restaurant. Took over 15 minutes for someone to take our order. Pizza base was very soggy. Whitebait was large, mushy and very fishy. Worst of all the chicken breast was raw in the middle and took 80 minutes to come to the table.
Don't go here. You will leave very disappointed. Woodstock next door much better

Went there last month for my aunt's birthday. The most authentic Italian food I have tasted in Melbourne! Food tasted fresh, and full of flavor. The rigatoni with mushroom sauce and truffle oil is to die for! The pan fried sardines, the roasted half duck, the scallopine al limone.... ahhh I salivate as I write this. I have already had a couple of follow up visits and have thoroughly relished every meal I have had there.
This place is a must visit, because it will most definitely make you feel like you are sitting in a restaurant in Italy. No frills, just good old fashioned delicious Italian food!
Patrick Gregory
Excellent high-quality Italian food and wonderful, friendly service. A hidden gem on Nicholson St. Had a great evening/meal and will absolutely be returning next time we're in the area!
Timothy Kallady
Excellent, authentic Italian food. Great atmosphere and friendly service. Much better than the la porchetta clones on Lygon St. Good selection of beers too.

What a great experience! The food is absolutely delicious and the staff always very friendly and attentive. If you love good italian food I highly recommend a visit to l'osteria. 😊

Fast service. Delicious yummy Italian food. Friendly but not the usual pushy service staff. Good date night joint. Reasonable prices is a bonus.

Seriously good Italian fare accompanied by good service despite the fact the place was packed!
Standouts were the Pollo L'Osteria and the pannacotta dessert which is up there with one of the best desserts I have eaten!
There I’ve said it!! ...

This place is the quintessential local Italian restaurant with great classic Italian food and a warm, friendly environment. The classic decor suits the authentic cuisine.

I especially enjoyed the calamari and the antipasto was amazing. Need to go back to have them again!
Erica Parkes
Every time I go to L'Osteria I have had great service and delicious food! I wish this place got more attention! One of the best Italian restaurants in Melbourne in my opinion :-) I have been many times with my family and we all agree L'Osteria you are the best.
David Jackson
We had dinner at L'Osteria to celebrate my 2 year old daughter's birthday. It was a quiet night in the restaurant and the staff took advantage of that to make our experience a true pleasure. They put as at ease straight away by encouraging us to spread out and to let my daughter run around inside. They said a very friendly hello and wished my daughter happy birthday. The food was tasty (I especially liked the bruschetta) and well-priced, and was topped off with the complimentary arancini that we received. Then it was time for birthday cake, and my daughter was delighted when she saw that the staff had added sparklers to the cake! Finally, the owner brought us each a free shot of Limoncello or Grappa to conclude the evening. A memorable evening out!

Recommend! Honest and friendly as f*** service. 10/10 pizza. Great traditional Italian entres. Byo. Will 100% be back.

We began with finely sliced eggplant, wrapping artichokes with cheese and truffle oil. Served with salad and balsamic, these tasty bites were sensational.

But what hits you about L'Osteria and what is missing at Cafe Ida - is the sense of local eatery. That this is, a place that local people walk to, a place for the whole family, Mum, Dad, Nonna and the kids. On Saturday night at L'Osteria nearly every tabl

I got a gluten free take away pizza here last week and it was amazing! A great gluten free base, delicious passata, heaps of cheese!

Phenomenal food and excellent friendly service. We are regulars at L'Osteria- for small group dinners, work functions and big family celebrations. We will definitely come back!

A ticket to food paradise. I've been here a couple of times now and it is by far the best Italian food I have eaten in Melbourne.

Everything I have tasted there has been right on the money. Beautiful genuine Italian food. Wonderful flavours and absolutely charming service. The waitstaff and owners are absolute gems.

This is a must-visit!

We have just had another excellent meal at L'Osteria. The people are very friendly and always do that little extra when diners are celebrating a milestone. The perfect local restaurant.
Jeff Suckling
Old world and delicious. Was there on a Monday night and service was excellent. Antipasto was scallops and it was delicious. Main was veal scallopini and it also was very good. Was not given or offered any bread with the meal which I felt was a negative but overall very good.

As a v fussy foodie I cannot understand two things - why this place isn't more expensive or totally packed. The food is consistently utterly delicious, service is lovely. Ok, decor is dated but in a fun way that is part of the charm. My 5 yo daughter declared the Margherita pizza the best ever (and she eats a LOT of pizza) and my soup with rice and peas was mmmmmmm. Finished with a silky smooth, perfectly not-too-sweet pannacotta. Go there. Often.

The true italian food!. The food was absolutely wonderful, from preparation to presentation, very pleasing. The food was fresh, properly prepared and a great value for the price. I highly recommend it.
Dani
Amazing food. Pizza and Pasta were both delicious and the dessert - Panna Cotta was to die for! Lovely owners and staff, 10/10.
Sven
Great pizza. I originally intended to dine at *ahem* another pizzeria, however it was closed.

I was pleasantly surprised by L'Osteria - lots of good pizza options and friendly service. Just as good as anywhere else I've had in the inner north (haven't tried Pizza Mein Leibe yet).
FuzzyGourmet
Excellent experience. My wife and I have been to this restaurant and had takeaway, many times. The food is consistently good and the service is exceptionally friendly. We always get dessert thrown in for free when we get takeaway and when we dine in the service is always prompt and friendly. They are also more than willing to make up meals that aren't on the menu.

They are even open for Christmas lunch!

Italian food at its best!. I've been to L'Osteria many times, and everytime I go there the food is absolutely spectacular. The marriage of flavours make to feel like I'm in Italy. The food is home-made and it shows on the plate.
Rose
Disgusting and uninviting restaurant
Luna
Buonissimo. I really enjoyed my night at this restaurant. I went with a friend and he also thoroughly enjoyed it. Food was really good, real Italian flavours without going over the top. Waitress who is the chef's wife is lovely. Definitely go back again. Yes and it well priced. Ciao..

Good, honest, family style restaurant. A local fave when you want no pretense or bling.
FoodieGirl
Staff are lovely and if you stick to ordering pizza the food is good enough but the steak, salad , fries and pasta are appalling. In a city with so many amazing italian places I'd give this one a miss.
Ladypawpaw
Good old Italian flavours. The decor is dated, which is probably why I have bypassed this place... But the food totally lives up and the prices are just right for what you get.
The Calamari Salad, Antipasto and baked Scallops were tasty as! The service was great; this is the type of place that you could eat at once a week. Love it!
Cath
Love this restaurant. L'Osteria is such a fantastic Italian restaurant. I would highly recommend it. We went tonight for dinner with our 3 small children and had a beautiful meal. Our children all inhaled several pizzas - beautiful, authentic, thin crust pizzas (the garlic one was a hit - had to order a second one) and my husband and I had some delicious pasta dishes. We both chose from the specials and were so impressed with the quality of our meals - my gnocchi was perfect. We used to come here years ago when we lived around the corner but tonight travelled a bit to dine here and will do so again. We were also all treated to complimentary desserts - not expected at all and a very nice surprise. Lovely service and fantastic Italian food. Eat at this restaurant!

I took my family from Canberra to one of my favourite Italian restaurants. They were treated to a feast. The stuffed olives were a hit. Calamari was tender. The hospitality was great.
Lulu
Awesome Pizza's. We booked this restaurant not expecting much. First impressions when we first walked in was "maybe we should've gone elsewhere". We ordered a small pizza each as a starter and it was awesome!! We love our authentic Italian pizzas and this restaurant was up there with some of the best we've had. Thin base with a crispy crust... Fresh toppings and very nice tomato sauce base!! I had e gnocchi for my main with Gorgonzola and pear. The gnocchi were nice and soft... Perfect texture and didn't clag up in your mouth. My husband had the rib eye, medium/rare and loved it. The service was very friendly and were great with our 2 yr old. We were then presented with a complimentary dessert of panna cotta at the end of our meal which we were very surprised and impressed!! Great pizzas, Mains were also pretty good and beautiful dessert.
Jason Murray
First time here and was greeted by very friendly and professional staff. Food was fresh, flavoursome, authentic and reminded me of my nonna's cooking.
Tarsy
This once quaint 'home style' Italian restaurant has sold out. The food is a mass produced replica of its former glory. To make the whole experience worse, as soon as you finish one course, the next is rushed onto your table. We left disappointed, unimpressed and underwhelmed.
Pete Firth
Birthday dinner was really enjoyable for first time there. Great pizza, pasta and squid, will be new local for sure.
Peri
Take away good too!. I just ordered a take away pasta - scampi and its great. their website says that they do take away pizza but when i requested pasta they said 'sure'. when i picked it up they had thrown in a dessert. now that's lovely! i'll be going back!
Rachel
I have been here 3 times and everytime the food and service has been outstanding. There is a definitely a welcoming feel
Iceman
L'Osteria is somewhat of a time warp, but a pleasant one. The food was enjoyable, the ambience consistent with your older style Italian restaurant. The only criticism I would have would be that despite the very friendly service it was far too inattentive. However, overall a pleasant evening.
Hayley Ingram
Yum!!. I really love this place. The atmosphere is warm and friendly and the food never fails to impress. Good authentic italian cusine. The pizzas are nice and thin based with minimal topping and the pastas are tasty. I will continue to dine here when i'm in the area.
Stefan
Amazing food and atmosphere. While reasonably priced, the food at L'Osteria was of a high quality with a great selection of Italian cuisine. The pizza was outstanding, though it is important to note that you should order a starter for the full experience.
The atmosphere and service was warm and friendly, making this a definite recommendation for L'Osteria
Annie Chau Cicolani
We purchased the voucher off a deals site and what a disappointing experience. My partner ordered the scallopini, and what came out was two of the smallest pieces of veal i had ever seen, accompanied with veggies and two spoonful of potato. I will never go back there and I advise you do the same.
Swee-ann
My wife and i had a wonderful dinner. Food taste great and the service was excellent. Because it wasn't a busy night we got ro speak with the chef. I will recommend the restaurant to friends.

Voucher no guide to an enjoyable meal. My Girlfriend and I had a week off and to celebrate she purchased a voucher for L'Osteria in Carlton. On arrival we were offered menus which were quickly substituted when they realised we had a voucher. ($140 of value for $59 for two. What a gret deal!!!!)
For entree we shared stuffed olives. These were crumbed and deep fried which wasn't described on the menu and tasted like they were commercially prepared. The clam and mussels with a napoli, garlic
and chili sauce were tasteless and bland and very poorly presented.

For Main we shard Vitello a limone. I was really looking foward to this disn as I have never ordered something like this before. The veal was a little tough, but was soaked watery flavourless artificial tasting lemon
sauce which was also very salty. The patatoes were stone cold. Not sure in that case when they were cooked. The spinach was fine. T he other main
was John Dori. We found this very boand was well.
Our desserts were as expected, hard to destroy commercially bought gelati.
Overall we were very disspaointed in the meal. Unfortunately we could never recommend this to anyone. If they were offering a voucher to create business
they have failed dismally. A waste of money, we would have much rather spent the $60 on some of the other offerings or some where else. Will mention that the staff were really friendly and the service was very good and very attentive.

Awesome Pizzas. This is a great place for authentic Italian wood fire pizza. They have a fantastic pizza menu. Be sure to try the simple L'Osteria special. Also great for Italian staples of risotto, gnocchi and pasta. Excellent calamari too!

We have tried to have "proper" main meals here, but they have been a bit of a let down after the heights the pizza/pasta has set so stick to these choices here and you won't be disappointed.
