Review The Spice Route - North Lakes

Friendly service and really nice Indian cuisine. The decor is clean, simple and uncluttered. The only thing I would say as a slight criticism would be done of the seats were a bit tired and damaged, but you go to a place like this primarily for the food and that was great.

Great curries amazing rotis. It's quite tucked away. Definitely worth giving it a go. I had a takeout but it looks like quiet dining.

Lovely customer service, beautiful food, exquisite presentation and affordable price. What more do you need out of a great resturant.

Know this Indian restaurant from when their doors opened back in 2008. I went often to enjoy a good chicken madras there. For us this was the best Indian in this area . It has been a good year ago that I've been there, today I went with y daughter for dinner. Looking forward to my favorite dish " Chicken Madras". Very disappointed about the food and service, new owners are in the restaurant now. The Madras didn't even taste like The Madras I used to get there. The chicken tasted off. The whole taste of the curry put me off and after 2 mouth full I couldn't eat it anymore. Also no napkins on the table, after we asked for it we got paper napkins shuffled on the table. Now we have to find another Indian restaurant as we not going back there

A mostly undiscovered gem in North Lakes. I feel torn writing a review for this place. If people knew just how good the food is here it would be packed every night. As it is we can go any night and know we can get the same corner. They have a very extensive menu of Indian food both traditional and expected so I am certain you will find many things to suit your tastes. Despite this even the most obscure dish is served fresh and tasty. Okay stop reading and just go and eat there. You will not be disappointed.

I love spicy food and was hanging out for some good Indian... ordered the Vindaloo hot. While I love hot food and eat it regularly, this was far too spicy. The heat drowned out all the flavors, it seemed like it was hot for the sake of being hot. I wasn't signing up for a hot eating challenge, I just wanted dinner. I ended up throwing it out. Really disappointed

Curries can take a while to cook which can be frustrating but worth it as they are made fresh. This place has given consistent nice indian food for a couple of years. Naan bread is delicious and tandoori chicken with raiita is too.

Didn't like food at all. Waste of money. We asked for vegetarian curries. Both the curries had same gravy with lots of artificial orange colour. Paneer Tikka had few small pieces of chewy paneer. Taste was awful. Lady on the desk was not competent in getting orders. Totally misunderstood about home delivery and made us to wait for good 45 mins before getting the food. Can't recommend this restaurant for authentic indian food.

The first time I had this was over a year ago and I wasn't impressed but I tried it again this week and was blown away, the whole family was. It was super delicious!! Only negative was I had a vegetarian dumpling dish and only got two dumplings in the whole meal which wasn't much at all. They were delicious but yeah not many, had about 2 slices of potato as well and just sauce. Everyone else's portions were good though.

Love this restaurant, never disappoints. Perfect flavours. Sadly the place was empty and it shouldn't be as the food is excellent and the menu diverse.

Very very yummy. Great taste. Have more often been disappointed with Indian food in Brisbane having tasted authentic Indian food after a month in India.

The Spice Route must be among the best curry restaurants in Brisbane if not in Queensland, staff is great and the chef is excellent

Crap food. We have been here twice, the first time it was beautiful but tonight it was absolute garbage. They were mucking up orders all over the place, I think they must have changed cooks because even the butter chicken was crap. Will not be going back!
Mandy
Awful. Ordered 2 different curries but got 2 containers of the same dish. Chicken had gristle all through it and it tasted fake. Definitely not going back.

Out of the 4 Indian takeaway/restaurants in North Lakes this is the absolute best

We went to the Spice Route for our Valentines dinner. My goodness, it was great! A 3 course meal for $35 a head. Could not fault the food & they even gave us gifts on the way out! Highly recommend this restaurant. Top quality food & service.

Downright awful. I placed an order for pick up and was told 20 minutes. I asked the lady what the total was and she said she was too busy to work it out. When I arrived 25 minutes later the lady told me that she had changed my order (I ordered 3 serves of vegetarian samosa) to one meat samosa and two veg because some people like a mixture. I told her that was not what I had ordered to which she said "well we ran out at lunch time". 40 minutes and $120 later my order was ready. The king prawn Goan curry was revolting. They charge $22 per serve and they include 6 of the smallest tough little prawns plus some loose tails. We also ordered a lamb dish which nobody could eat, it was just not nice. The chicken tikka was tasty but only had four very finely sliced pieces of chicken throughout the whole meal. When I rang to complain about the overall experience I was told that my opinion was noted and that they had a new chef. Will never visit again.

Ordered butter chicken- awesome taste but for $17 had only like 5 tiny pieces of chicken in it- not even enough for one person- smothered in a think sauce so you can't see the lack of chicken till you try to find some. Disappointing cause it tastes so awesome!
Put more meat in your dishes or reduce your prices!

Our Favourite Indian Restaurant. We have eaten just about everything on the menu (not all at once!) at The Spice Route and, have absolutely loved it all. We have been customers since they first opened 5 years ago and dine there regularly. The business is family run and the love shows in the food they prepare and share.
Colin & Belinda

Great Indian Food. We've had food from the Spice Route approx once a fortnight for the past 6 months.
We love their Butter Chicken, Peshwari Naan and Spinach Naan.
The service is always friendly and fast.
Ryan
Usually very good, however had to wait over an hour for takeaways.

Whilst the dishes we chose were very tasty, the portion size was very small being that there was hardly any meat in the curries. Disappointing as the meals aren't cheap for the little amount you get. 4 dishes, 6 Naans- $95!!! Don't think we'll be ordering take away from there again.

Best Indian by far. Love this place, we have been here may times and regularly also have take aways, the take aways are also fantastic. The service is impeccable and the food is reasonably priced. We have never had a bad experience here and it’s BYO. This has to be one of our favourite restaurants if not the favourite.

The best Indian food going around + great friendly service. Great lamb Korma and chicken tiki masala! 91/2 out of 10

YUMMY. I took a group of 8 along on a Saturday night. We were all very happy with the food, especially the butter chicken, absolutely delicious. I will be going back. Reasonably priced and friendly staff. A very nice dining experience!

Gross watered down Indian with that disgusting yellow plastic rice the naan was as chewy as a boot Definately won't go back

A great experience. Never been there before. food was exceptional the service was excellent, the decor and atmosphere was great. they were very busy on a friday night. the was only two of us for dinner and they forget one thing we ordered which was a side dish of raita, no big deal they gave us two dishes and didnt charge for either. the staff were friendly and welcoming. have tried various indian cuisine around the area and we will definitely be back. price was reasonable and the taste was exotic. i'd rate 8/10
