Review Fourno - North Ryde

The high reviews got me very excited. The interiors are more of a casual eatery, it's located on the ground floor and as for parking there is parking beneath the building. Ordered the seafood pizza (M $27) and truffle and porcini mushroom ravioli ($30). Pizza was delicious and the seafood was cooked perfectly. Unfortunately the ravioli was terrible, the pasta was tough, the filling was dry and the sauce wasn't seasoned at all, tasted very bland. I found out from the waitress that amongst the pasta dishes the marinara is the most popular so I would suggest trying that and staying well away from the ravioli. Whilst I think there are better Italian restaurants out there at a similar price point, if you were in the area this place isn't bad for the pizzas. It may be popular with the locals, personally wouldn't suggest for anyone to go out of your way to try this place.

It was really a unique taste of food from Beef Cheeks, Seafood Pizza, Spaghetti Marinara. Great value for a meal like this.

Food is always yum. Have been going for a few years for work lunches. Book ahead. Everything is pretty delicious, and I like to try the special each time. Fish and calamari are really good along with the pizzas and pastas. Generous servings. Main food can take a while for bigger groups if you don't order starters but they all come out the same time which is great. Service is great and friendly.

Parking is a bit confusing for the first time visit (it was underneath the building). Food was great quality and service was excellent. Size on Main Course is generous. Pizza is amazing. Will return.

Very friendly staff. Good is reasonably priced and generous size especially the main course. Pizza is great, pasta is not too bad. Will return.

Great customer service. Once my mushroom risotto was way too salty and they offered me money back. Their food is descent. Great for big groups

They make a mean spiced pumpkin soup! Served with a generous portion of bread, this warm, delicious dish made my day. The bruschetta could have done with some more variety of toppings and lesser vinegar oil but as is, was quite alright. Should have opted to dine here more and try their core menu than its poor cousin (relatively) next door.

Came for lunch with a big group (20+ people). The service was a bit slow given so many people & orders, it took a while for the food to come out. The quality of the food overall was good, the pasta were nice, just right texture, served with a good sauce, and with decent size & amount of seafood/meat/mushrooms. The fish dishes (salmon special & john dory) were cooked well, and generous size fillets. Despite the generous portion sizes, prices are quite steep for lunch in the suburbs, the larger size pastas just under $30, salmon special was $30+. Decor was also a bit dreary. Overall, not really value for money, but without many quality options in the vicinity, it will continue to be a popular choice in the area.

We come here often as its literally down the road from us and we don't have too many other options. That is not to say we have no choice but to come here... The food is always yummy and service has always been good. I have probably tried most things on the menu and it never disappoints. I even take clients here. Can get noisy and worth booking in advance.

this place is an absolute hidden treasure. chanced upon this many years ago for a birthday - and it was a hit. perhaps there is a small element of nostalgia that keeps this a certain favourite. best Italian in the area. if it werent for its location it would have many more customers. Prices aren't too bad for the huge sizes and I am definitely prepared to fork out extra for a meal so delicious. Almost everything I've ordered has been pleasing (except the chicken w sundried tomato pasta dish I can't recall the details of - was too oily and got sickening quickly). It takes a good cook for me to rave about pasta - I absolutely adore pasta and have eaten too much shit in my time. desserts are small but not bad. service varies from nice to very helpful and ambience is pretty good but really i come here for the food and would be happy with the food alone. that's telling of a good restaurant. i dont come here nearly as enough as I should considering how much i'm raving about this place. only thing (besides the location) i would have a gripe with is there aren't enough cold drinks selections (esp for a cafe).

True Gem. Fourno is my 'go to' regular. It's not OMG amazing, but it provides a good and consistent standard of food and service in a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere. The fare is probably best described as Mediterranean, offering pizza, pasta and seafood. I often have the grilled octopus as a main and my partner loves the calamari fritters. These are entrée dishes but we have them as mains served with salad and chips.
The proprietors are Greek and I wished they'd do full on Greek dishes. But what you will get at Fourno is well presented tasty food which they produce consistently. And Vicki and George will go out of their way to accommodate you. There's a lot of restaurateurs that could learn a thing or two by dining here.

I was yesterday and today for dinner at the 'cafe'... It doesn't look like, but it is a really authentic Italian restaurant.
I can specially recommend the original bruschetta and the tiramisu.
The pizza I had was also really good, thin ground and really good cheese, really close to a authentic pizza.
However as somebody already wrote it has a lack of atmosphere and these two evenings the airconditioning was really cold...
The waiters were in both evenings really professional and friendly, I've seen two different shifts.
Info for groups: The do not split bills.

Consistently excellent service and food. High quality pizza and pasta. Pumpkin soup a winner.

Fourno-what a find!. Was recently taken here by a friend for a belated birthday lunch celebration. It's right across the road from my office, and being a workaholic, I hadn't tried it in the 2+ years in the area. What find!
This is delicious Italian food, cooked and served lovingly. We both had the John Dory fillets. The fish was fresh and delicious. It was not overcooked. Succulent fillets sitting on a bed of asparagus, broccoli and roasted potatoes. Served with a lemon sauce. Superb!
We had a nice glass of wine and finished our meal with a coffee. I'll be back.

Great authentic Italian food. Beautiful garlic bread and fragrant, authentic pasta dishes. Only down side, service leaves a bit to be desired. Mains arrived within reasonable time frame. However, had to ask twice for both entree and carafe of water. Some staff were lovely, while others were a little 'cold'. But the food was so good, we'll definitely go back.

Great food, good prices, lovely staff. The only problem is the venue. Lacks atmosphere.
