Review Shingle Inn - North Ryde

Hidden in the depths of Macquarie centre, the shingle inn is well presented with very comfy looking seating. Unfortunately seating for groups larger than four is limited so I wasn't able to try the comfy chairs. The range on the menu was promising, and in the end I went for the veggie burger with loaded fries. Although the meal itself was OK, for $18 I felt it was not good value for money. The total meal was not filling, and the service was sporadic with my fries only arriving well after the burger arrived.

Really nice place - nice warm ambience , friendly staff ( they all say hello as soon as you enter) - was looking for a high chair and they got it for me , food was tasty the only drawback was the variety - can have more items as a cafe hence one less star

I have to agree with the previous reviewer (Joseph P). In our experience (party of 6), we were very unimpressed with almost everything. The burgers we ordered lacked flavour (no spice despite description of Spicy Saint), bun was dry, meat patty seemed massed produced, and was not juicy. Even the cheese was not melted. Our meals all came out in random times with the waitress continually apologising for the delays. One person received his sweet potato fries 15 minutes earlier than the rest of his meal. Another meal was severely lacking in portion size. Lastly, the prices were very expensive, with battered chips and the burger costing $18. I was going to give it two stars because at least its decor was presentable, booths were comfortable, atmosphere quiet, and nice coffee( bought on a separate occasion), but as a franchise this to be expected across all stores. We shall be seeking business options elsewhere, especially for what $15+ can get you in MQ centre.

I’ve had plenty of time to post this review as I’ve been waiting for half an hour for our food. The raisin toast came after ten minutes, the cup of tea 15m, milkshakes 20m, and still waiting on a couple of scones. Each thing coming out one at a time. I wish I had not wasted the time nor money coming here.

Shingle Inn is a beautiful little cafe with a really nice, chill atmosphere. The customer service is fantastic; very kind, personable employees who are very willing to serve. Caters to all ages and any size group. Definitely would recommend!

Has reopened, but apparently management has changed. Could still be early days but quality of both the meals and service needs to improve dramatically to compete with similar establishments in Macquarie centre. Service was quite slow and our chicken & avocado crepe meals had that "warmed up in the microwave" feel about it

service was very slow and the attitude from the staff was so poor. we ended up waiting for our coffee more than 15 mins even though the shop was very quite (only two tables with customers on Saturday afternoon!). definitely won't be going back there!

It’s a great place. I have breakfast there once a week, very relaxing, nice atmosphere, the staff absolutely prioritise your experience. The food and coffee is great.
