Devon is one of my favourite cafes in Sydney. I’ve tried all of the different Devon cafes. Breakfast at Sakumas is all time favourite. I’ve recently also tried croissant St Denis and really loved it! They are a bit on the pricier end but the quality has been pretty consistent. Definitely will be coming back.

Devon has a few locations around Sydney, it's surprising I've never visited. I've been to Dopa by Devon several times and really enjoyed it so it was about time.

Went for a family brunch with 16 people so I didn't really get to note down the dishes we tried. Devon Cafe definitely has some fun dishes, they were flavourful and creatively plated.

I had the Corny Benny ($21). I've never had corn bread before but it was yummy and went well with the smoked salmon 😊 The Dr Suess looked really good too, very nostalgic 😋

Croissant St Denis ($25) - 4.5/5
Ghetto style omelette, prawns, crab bisque beurre blanc, caviar, fine herbs, French croissant

I was extremely impressed with the presentation and size of this dish, with the caviar adding wonderful pops of colour and the beautiful crab bisque begging me to dig in. The croissant was fresh and had a lovely buttery flavour. The crab bisque was undoubtedly the highlight as it elevated this dish to another level. The bisque was beautifully thick and rich with seafood flavour and this was topped off with the crab meat scattered throughout. The omelette was smooth and creamy but did cause the dish to be a tad too heavy for my liking. I believe that more cherry tomatoes or another element of freshness would've done the trick.

Good food and good service. The serving sizes are just right in my opinion and the quality of the food was fresh and delicious. Can get busy as it is a hot spot for brunch but staff are as attentive as possible. Decaf coffee here was also very nice.

The same high quality as the other Devon cafes but the North Sydney branch is more spacious. I visited during the truffle season to try their specials menu and we loved every dish- especially the pasta and fluffy egg omelette sandwich. Service was attentive and friendly, and food arrived relatively fast.

I came here looking for a quick bite and that’s exactly what I got. I ordered the egg sandwich and it was deliciously seasoned and spiced. The egg was fluffy, light, rich and generous. The bread was super soft.

Exactly what you’d expect at any other Devon cafe. Similar menu items but what I love here is the Japanese omelette sando!! So simple yet oh so good!

Devon has several branches around Sydney. I previously visited their branches in Surry Hill and Barangaroo. I go to north sydney cafe quite often as I like their savoury menu: crossaint st denis. I tried special menu over Easter and it has toast with matcha cream and matcha ice cream. The bread has good texture with matcha cream inside. The dish was beautifully presented and tasted good.

This Devon Cafe had a much shorter wait than the one in Surry Hills and was equally as delicious! We really loved the interesting selection of original dishes on the menu, that were all uniquely aesthetic and tasty with intricate flavours.

I particularly loved the signature Croissant St Denis ($25) which was ironically labelled a ‘ghetto style omelette’ with prawns, crab bisque beurre blanc, caviar and fresh herbs (YARM). The fried chicken Omurice ($19) was also huge, with a mountain of egg encasing tomato and garlic rice and fried chicken ($9) (YASS). We also had the fish cake and poached egg. Would recommend!

This is one of those menus that you wish you had a larger stomach for, plenty of items on the menu which sounds really good. We grabbed a few dishes to share between three people.

We had the Breakfast with the Sakuma, which had a huge piece of grilled salmon. I quite liked the eel croquette that came with it. The omurice was also quite tasty and you had the choice of topping, we went with katsu shrimp. The croissant Saint Denis with a seafood bisque sauce was nice. The Mushroom Sando was very meaty and delicious. We also shared a few desserts, the taro pearl milk tea sundae and the Taro ABC. The sundae was really nice with both pearls and sago. Some parts of the ABC was a bit icy but otherwise, it was really nice with the taro sauce drizzled over it.

A really nice cafe for really nice food. It is also quite easy to get to, just across the road from the North Sydney Station.

This is a really nice place opposite North Sydney station for coffee and good food. I had the omurice with fried chicken and the portion of this dish is huge so I recommend sharing. The fries are also really good. For dessert, I really liked the taro ABC (taro shaved ice with taro icecream, jelly, pearls). I think it’s more with it than the regular taro soft serve with pearls.

Absolutely love their two chicks in goa dish! I like how it’s a curry take on baked eggs - really good flavours and the roti that comes with it is so crispy! Their shaved ice makes for a perfect after meal treat too

We arrived 2 minutes right before kitchen close but the chefs were kind enough to do last minute orders for us. You can’t go wrong with their signature Breakfast with the Sakuma’s (I get this almost every time I visit Devon). The Bacon Katsu sandwich was surprisingly good... Moist and crispy on the outside, accompanied with bbq sauce, egg, tomato and cabbage. Taro ABC was quite average, sweet, really thick texture, too rich in coconut cream/milk and melted almost instantly - would recommend to share this with 3-4 people.

Wow - this is why I love Asian desserts! Visited Devon café with my food blogging friends and tried the Taro ABC ($14) and My Asian Cousin ($13).

I've had a few ice kacangs and ABCs but never one like this. The shaved ice was so soft and melt-in-your-mouth. The taro was subtle and gave the dessert a beautiful pale purple colour. I loved the addition of the pearls and sago as it added another dimension to the texture of the dessert. An outstanding dessert, I would definitely revisit just for the Taro ABC.

My Asian Cousin was also an incredibly tasty dessert and looked gorgeous with the cubes of fresh mango. The dish was both light and creamy, and had a very summery vibe. The mango was delicious and punctuated the creaminess of the bed of sago underneath. I thought that the addition of the dried lychee was clever and not something I had ever tried before. Would highly recommend this dish for those looking for an authentic Asian dessert experience.

We’ve been fans of the Japanese fusion menu at Devon cafes for many years now and have visited quite a few of their different outlets since they expanded from their Surry Hills base to Waterloo, Barangaroo and now North Sydney which is even closer to home for us. The North Sydney cafe is right across from the station and next to Greenwood Plaza, with an airy and contemporary interior. Each Devon cafe has a slightly different menu (although there’s always matcha featured somewhere) that mixes their signatures with more unique dishes only available at that location.

Great coffee, food and environment, not too busy on a weekday which was nice. Convenient to get to by train, finding a parking that’s more than half an hour can be tricky. Breakfast with the Sakuma’s has always been and was once again a winner! The croissant dish can be a bit heavy so it’s best to share but it was very tasty as well. Would definitely come here again!

Been meaning to come here for a while. Finally North Sydney has a gourmet, creative and swish/casual cafe.
The Korean fried chicken sandwich with salad was absolutely delicious. And simplicity at its best - perfectly crispy and moist chicken, fresh soft thick-cut sandwich bread and tasty sauce.
The salad had a really nice sesame dressing on it as well.
Quick and friendly service - good place for a casual business meeting.

Always coming back for omurice, matcha latte and soft serves. Sometimes rice is a bit overcooked, but overall it's a very nice place for a slow weekend brunch.

Finally found ourselves at Devon Cafe after a long bout of food envy from seeing just about every Sydney foodie posting pics from this place. The Mecca of Sydney’s Instagrammable dishes didn’t disappoint. We enjoyed the truffle soft serve and French toast. An explosion of flavours and textures - we were in heaven. However not sure if it was just us but the truffle flavour was extremely subtle and not very pronounced? In any case we will certainly be back! 🐼🥢

Decided to be adventurous and deviated from my usual order of Breakfast with the Sakumas.
My favourite of the two would be the Omurice where the egg is fluffy and cooked perfectly - you can still see the glisten. I would opt for the prawn instead of the katsu bacon next time with the Omurice as it was rather salty.
As the for indomie sando.... my friends were sceptical that it pairs well but it actually sort of does. 😂 Maybe it’s because of my love of indomie but well, I cleaned my plate till the last crumb. 😂 Only feedback is that I wished the indomie was a little crispier as it was almost cold and soggy and the size of the chicken inside was minuscule. This isn’t a dish that will fill you up if you’re a big eater or absolutely famished. But overall quite an interesting dish.
Service staff were all friendly, had a good time here.

Truffled eggs 4/5, on brioche w leek sauce smoked chats caviar shaved truffle. Not only pretty to look at.

I absolutely love Devon cafe! One of my favourite brunch spots in Sydney! The food quality always amazes me. This chicken omurice was soft and the curry was delicious! Devon cafe is definitely on the pricer side for brunches but the quality and quantity is worth it! My only downside to devon is that, the menu changes depending on where the cafe is.. but otherwise its a lovely cafe with beautiful interior and friendly staff.

What a find, a well calculated fusion on so many levels.
The fitout is fresh a fusion of Swedish and Japanese Sydney harbour deco style.

While a little noisy the tables are intimate enough you can hear your friend tell you their latest news. The service was great, casually dressed in neat aprons, staff kept their individuality while representing the brand. Friendly, helpful (perhaps don’t clear the table till all customers at the table have finished their meal - pet hate.)

Now to the important bit, the food. Wow!! The Menu was a refreshing crazy delight to choose from.
I had the Breakfast with salmon fillet, eel croquet,63’ egg. Just could not explain well enough how yummy it was. Drink selection was ...ok. Can’t wait to go again soon. Thanks Devon!

Devon has just opened its third outlet in Sydney. It's pretty easy to find it, as it is right opposite to North Sydney station.

I love the environment here. It's clean and bright. It doesn't look fancy, but staying here having lunch is pretty a pleasant experience.

The restaurant now offers dinner. The brand new dinner menu serves from 5PM. There're a lot of dishes to choose. If you are going with somebody else, large share plates would definitely be a good choice.

DIY BAO's is a very unique dish which serves chinese BAO with western pork hock. The hock is really huge. The knife is given and we cut the meat off by ourselves. It's definitely a dish for two or more people. However the skin of the meat is somehow very hard.

Steamed Barramundi Fillet is what I like. The fillet is super large and tastes tender. It cooks in a chinese way. Fish is very perfect when dipping with the sauce underneath.

Lost in Zen Garden is a dessert for $19, which might be over-priced. It's just french toast, sprinkled by a unknown green particles.

Drinks are not their strength. The fresh squeezed juice was very strange. Won't recommend.

I come here literally every day, the coffee is one of my favourites in North Sydney. The service is always lovely and it's a nice setting to catch up with friends or study in. The food is slightly towards the pricey side but delicious nonetheless. Will continue to be a regular for a looooong time

Has a quick meal at Devon Cafe after a seminar nearby. Was actually quite full as there were food at the seminar but wanted to check out Devon! Had the small share plates of Korean fried chicken and calamari fritti which came with kimchi mayo and yuzu aioli respectively. Quite yummy! Too bad I couldn't try the other main dishes as they sounded delicious. Another time!

Love the creme brûlée croissant, light& sweet to start my day.
We ordered also:

Croissant St Denis $25
The richness of lobster bisque butter sauce ( Beurre Blanc) just a perfect carriage to bring the ghetto style omelet come to live.
Grins he with prawns, caviar and fine herbs then accompanied with savory croissant.

Piggy Banc $26
Roasted pork belly, pork and fennel sausage, peas, roasted fennel, hasselback potato and pork jus gras...
Pork sausages is the star for me even compare to the pork belly it’s self.

All good, very happy with the dishes!

Always my go to place everytime I feel like brunch. Been to Devon in Surry, Danks (now closed) also Barangaroo. Have to say this one is super crowded during lunch hours as there are many offices nearby. One thing to be mentioned is they always keep the quality and taste of food consistent accross all their branch 💕

Ordered the omurice, piggy banc, Ragu, KJI Fried Chicken Sando and Kakigori for dessert.

The highlight of my visit was that mouthwatering kakigori! At first, I thought it’s gonna be super sweet but turns out to be very refreshing!

Despite being very busy, the cafe still maintained it’s service and staffs were very friendly and attentive

Love the Devon brand. Been to all of the other outlets, their food quality had always been unfaltering, service though a bit hit & miss. This new North Sydney branch definitely had good & friendly service on the couple of occasions I visited recently. The first time for lunch, the Devon fish cake looked more like giant arancini balls than fish cakes. But inside it the salmon & potatoes were moist, well seasoned & great taste. On my second visit I got a Portuguese Tart & skim cap to go. Unfortunately the coffee was watery & bland, and the shell of the Portuguese Tart was soggy cardboard like, not satisfying all around.

So thrilled to try Devon in their new location....opposite North Sydney station! Sunday brunch and managed to score the last table in the light and airy cafe. Delicious coffees to start and munched on Mama Irene's banana bread while our orders were being sorted. The Devon fish cakes ($18) were so satisfying and possibly the best I've had (besides my Mum's) with salmon and potato croquettes, a perfectly poached egg, aioli, watercress and herb salad with extra avocado! Partner had the Croissant St Denis with lobster meat, bisque beurre blanc, prawns, herbs and a flaky, irresistible croissant! Just when you thought brunching was getting a little predictable Devon comes to save the day with ingenuity and innovation! Definitely returning to taste more of the menu! Spotted the famous omurice which is next on the list, not to mention the Tom Yum Prawn Katsu sando which features on the Monday-Friday sando list!

I love Devon in Surry Hills, so I was super excited when this branch opened so close to my work. I particularly like the selection of food available at this Devon, which includes my favourites like Breakfast with the Sakumas but also dishes like Omurice (which is insanely good) and the cheaper options of their sandwiches at lunch.

The service is decent, prices are a tad expensive and beware a long wait time like the other branches. Will be a regular here I imagine, much to the chagrin of my wallet...

The Devon is in the details.

Came on a Tuesday afternoon at around 1pm. It was quite busy but they managed to squeeze the two of us through.

I admire the unique decor comparing the grungy Surry Hills and chic Barangaroo sites. It is obvious it is still new.

Service was brilliant. The young ladies on the floor seem to know what they're doing. I asked to switch tables halfway through our service, and they were more than accommodating. (Yes, I was that annoying customer!)

Coffees were superb. I saw they were using Grace & Taylor for their Guest Roasters, my favourite boutique coffee roaster. Our Kenyan single origins were outstanding. My espresso tasted earthy and moreish. I always enjoy Devon coffees, they seem to hire the best baristas in town.

We ordered the Omurice with Prawn, and the Ragu Alla Sichuanese. The Omurice requires a 20 minute wait, but it is well worth it. The rice is flavourful, the egg soft, and the gravy savoury. My bf enjoyed this Ragu. It was the perfect amount of heat, and the soft egg really adds texture.

We were given complimentary matcha soft serve to end our meal. My bf doesn't like matcha, but he really enjoyed his soft serve. I guess Devon just has that way of really bringing out the foodie in everyone.

Recommendations: both our meals were spot on, so I would say everything else would be just as good. Coffee is faultless too.

Paid approx. $60 for two people. Well worth it!

Crispy turmeric chicken with deep fried indomie, Sambal Matah, and chilli aioli with chips and their banana split deep fried banana covered with fried indomie, atapseed, coconut ice cream, gula malaka, sticky rice and coconut jelly. Both of them are must try ! So good.

I love Devon Cafe in Surry Hills but it’s hard to get parking and can be super busy. Now they have opened a cafe in North Sydney! Right opposite the train station. It is quite a large cafe. I went on it’s second day of opening and there was already a line for coffee….at 10am. Brekkie was extremely consistent with Surry Hills cafe. Which is nice.
