Food was fantastic, great service, will definitely be back for more!
Great service. .. we were surprised n pleased to received a complimentary soup and fruits.
Legit delicious dumplings and yum cha! Don’t bother going to Chinatown this place is just as good as anywhere. Friendly service and they do happy hour cheap tsing tao
I head to Greenwood Chinese Restaurant my friend PH. Overall, I have to concur with some of the other reviews that Greenwood Chinese Restaurant is bit more pricey. However I don't know of any other yum cha options in North Sydney. You would have to head into the City or up the north shore. It may be a matter of demand v.s supply.
Been many years since I have been back here. This used to be our go-to place for a business lunch when I was based in North Sydney. They have updated the place and it looks much improved. The dim sum tastes about the same which is to say, very good! Love their Prawn and Chives dumplings as well as the steamed rice rolls. Service was a bit indifferent, which is a shame. Otherwise, would recommend this place for some very decent yum cha if you are in this part of town.
Ordered:
1. Crab and noodle - this is the best Chinese Hong Kong restaurant in Sydney for seafood, the seafood is always fresh and cooked really well
2. Winter hot pot - hot pot is only available in winter and it’s really good with lots of seafood and vegetables
3. Various Seafood dishes - their prawn, scallops and steam barramundi and any fresh fish of the day are all super delicious, I find it hard to find another seafood place that cook seafood that well like they do
4. Peking duck - good to very good considering this is a seafood restaurant
5. Various meat dishes - not that great compared to their seafood, the chicken dishes are average, the beef has too strong meaty taste, stick with seafood
6. Vegetable dishes - just average nothing that stands out
They also provide soup and dessert of the day and they are always so delicious! Great way to begin and end the meal.
Will I go back: yes, this is the only Chinese Hong Kong style seafood dinner restaurant that I would go as I don’t like any other ones in Australia because a lot of them are either too oily, dirty or not as tasty.
Great Food. Definitely rate this Yum Cha over other places that are on the North Side. They have all the Yum Cha favourites as well like mango pancakes. The service was great and quick. Found the staff to be friendly and the place was busy. Will definitely go again
Eating in for yum cha is always great, and at usually ~$20-$30/head it’s in the regular price range. Quality is always exceptional. As with all yum cha restaurants the service can be a little hit and miss, but is generally pretty good.
At the lunchtime takeaway section though, they’ve installed a new point of sale system that has rigid prices. So a combination wonton noodle soup that was previously $13.50 is now around $18 if you ask for the fairly regular 4 wonton, as they charge $1.50 per wonton. They’re delicious wonton though!
Came here a year ago for CNY with extended family and everthing was mediocre at best. But after change in management the food is much better!
great food, authentic, not a usual Aussie Chinese restaurant, more Hong Kongish. this is the best in Sydney. Service can always be more polished but Chinese are more interested in state than service.
This is probably the only yum cha place in the area. I didn't experience pushy service as mentioned in other reviews. I found service to be friendly and helpful.
The quality of the food is good and the place is very clean. Prices are good for the portion size, location, service and cleanliness.
Went there during Chinese New Year with a group of friends. The restaurant was packed and fully booked. We were lucky to see live lion dance show there. The food is amazing! Squid with glutinous rice is our favourite. Absolutely no complain about the service.
I have not had yum cha for many years and some friends suggested something different for lunch. We grabbed the prawn and chives dumplings, pork slices, green beans, and a bunch of other food. We were all full and the bill was $94 for 3 of us. Not a cheap lunch per head but a great meal
We had dinner here the other night and the food was good especially the peking duck. Service is better than most Chinese restaurants in the North Shore.
Very decent yum Cha, comfortable and spacious. Service was good comparing to the normal Chinese restaurants. Food was great! Had some very fresh dim sim, Peking duck and ginger shallot crab. Peking duck was fresh and lean, skin was crispy. Crab was meaty and the flavoring was excellent, all the shallot, ginger and garlic maximized the freshness and sweetness of the crab. Very satisfied.
One of my favourite lunch time venues. It gets quite busy but the service is also on point. You can be in and out within an hour. The dumplings are always hot and fresh and don't forget to order the mango pancakes. They will make your day!
As part of a belated Chinese New Year celebration my sister's mother-in-law shouted us to yum cha at Green Chinese Restaurant. On Sundays the whole Greenwood Plaza seems to be abandoned and hidden away from the Pacific Highway side is this busy Yum Cha restaurant. I suggest street parking as opposed to paying for the flat rate Wilson parking below the plaza. Even though the place was busy it was no congested... unlike the ones at Cabramatta. There was no line out the door, the tables were banked so close together that the trolly knocks your chair and people weren't running around frantically. These sesame balls were plumped up after being deep fried. As large as one and half oranges. We ordered them just out of amazement. I think one of the highlights for me had to be the fried taro with meat. It was amazing. Even enough to compete with my favourite at Vinh Phat at Cabramatta. The mixture inside wasn't as silky smooth but the outer layer was done magnificently. I've never been a fan of buns. I took a small sample later in the meal when it was cold. It was hard to eat and just unpleasant to me. The pastries on these were done well. Even enough for my mum to praise them as she normally would;t consider eating something so indulgent. I didn't even try one of these. We over overed.... Nothing like a plate of vegetables to break down all the dim sims and carbs you're intaking. The dim sims were a lighter colour than usual and the meatiness not as intense. Overall still had good texture and if you smother in the chilli sauces you probably won't even notice much. On another note, what restaurant is so tight with sauces...we had nine people on the table and they started off with one plate of chilli sauce to share. The prawn dumplings were great... you can't really go too wrong with these... quite consistent across all restaurants. I loved how the trolley lady brought this to our table and did a whole spiel on how great this was... and how they don;t always have it and we m
Good Yum Cha choice on the North side. Firstly the restaurant is very clean, smelled great, was light and airy and the china (crockery) was really nice. The food smelled great, was fresh and had a good range. The BBQ pork was delish, as were the regular dim sum items. Was a 'touch' on the $ side, but we did order a few 'specials' (2 people $80). All in all, great little spot.
Yum cha!. Right price for the service and quality. Love that there is a yum cha option in NSyd for lunch. In comparison to other Syd yum cha it's "average". But we like it as it's been consistently good, hence we go there often. Can get busy but never waited long for a table of 5, also quick and easy to reserve a table.
Great place for lunch or dinner, brilliant selection of crash carts with dim sum (yum cha)..I highly rate the duck pancakes for a main, and the mango pancakes for desert...loads of choice, great value and this week they had chinese new year celebrations that made lunch exciting..
A go to traditional Cantonese restaurant for those who live around Lower North Shore area. The peking duck is on point, remember to order extra set of pancakes, so can have more servings. Would also recommend the ox tongue, the peppers with prawn paste and seafood fried rice! The XO pipis also never disappoint. Quality and service is generally quite consistent!
Greenwood Chinese Restaurant is a top restaurant that I've been going too for many years.
It's established, great food and I know my Chinese Food extremely well and they totally nail it.
LOVE THEIR WORK and loved their Yumcha!
Love the yumcha!! Cheaper price compares to city. Best part is they take order instead of letting people wait for trolley, very efficient approach especially after we experienced many terrible service at other places
Very tasty. Great service. Edward was very polite. The food is quite possibly the best tasting food I have ever had. I pledged to eat here every day for the rest of the month.
