Review Northside Bunker - North Sydney

N D
I had the French toast, looks amazing but not very nice at all. Coffee was good though

Great little cafe which serves a well priced and delicious bacon and egg roll on Turkish bread. Can't argue with 5 dollars takeaway. Just wished they made their eggs more runny. Coffee is great, strong but not bitter or acidic.

Northside Bunker is another cafe that I see quite regularly as I'm a local. I've been here on a few occasions already, with work colleagues and by myself. I also see it when I go shopping at coles. I've always like cafes that lavishes the wooden look. It's got a nice outdoorsy feel to it. It's got a few seats outside and around 10-15 tables inside so there is plenty of room. I was there at the height of peak hour and didn't have to leave luckily on a Saturday. I got a flat white on this occasion. The flat white was pretty decent in taste and texture. It did not pass my coffee art disintegration test. The coffee art disintegrated before the halfway line as per my picture. Coffee art is part of the dine in experience that you'll want persevere for the duration. Rusty Rabbit is one of the few that managed to keep the coffee art until the final sip for a flat white. For $4.50 you'll want to ensure your coffee is really of value with the amount of competition in the area as I've been living here for four months now and still haven't been to all the cafes. I sincerely hope they work on their coffee art as they have everything else I want in a cafe. So they are close to full marks. They also served water and proactive about getting you a new jar of water once your original one finishes unlike 28's cafe who take away your jar before you finish. The jar of water is also located on the counter and can accessed easily if required. Northside Bunker also have got wifi which was very handy as I ran out of internet for the month! The only other amenities that might be lacking is probably a power point and toilet. At least I didn't see either but I'll let them correct me if they see my review. Overall I'll probably come back and see if they've improved in a couple months time. It's a pretty good cafe where the food seems to be good value and they've got really nice looking pastries at the front and a nice feel to it!

Lovely avocado on gluten free toast ($9), and a small cappuccino. Nice, friendly service. It's a bit weird that you have to go outside to pay. Otherwise a lovely, healthy place for brunch. Cheers

Loved this little discovery seriously best Turkish Eggs ever w house made baked beans - awesome. Coffee outstanding- warm ambiance.

Don't bother. I ordered a 'crispy' pork burger for the $11 'special' . It is as far from Crispy as you can get. More like soggy pork burger. Doesn't even look like it has been in an oven at all. Don't waste your money. Just go to any of the awesome Bahn Mi places in North Sydney

Their coffee taste awesome, super friendly people, despite being very very busy with customers, you’ll be served much quicker than expected. Especially, cannot do without my weekend Bunker coffee!

Unpleasant takeaway experience. Sandwich pricing was ambiguous, board indicated $9 or $12, but I was charged $13. Requested no cucumber and add avocado. No surprises the sandwich had cucumber and no avocado, guess the extra dollar was to specifically not follow instructions.

Hands down the best spot for Brunch north of the bridge. Everything on their menu is made to perfection - have been coming here for the last few months and the food has been consistently good. Add or remove whatever you want - it's never an issue for the guys at Northside Bunker! Coffee is also always a delight. You won't be disappointed!

On Sunday’s if you are in North Sydney and want to eat breakfast .. it must be in “The Bunker”.. amazing food & service. Loved it

Pretty good value. Food is great, though portions are large. Venue could do with a refit and better casual coffee (takeaway) management. Best venue on this side of the bridge and open every day.

Pathetic service:-( Had to wait for 25 mins just for a coffee and then we find out that our order was not even placed. We walked out and never going back.

Went there for breakfast on Wednesday morning
I didn’t like my cappuccino but my Moroccan eggs were tasty.
The added hush brown was not good though. Money wasted.
Service was good.

I was keen to try this place, living in north Sydney a while and starting to explore.

I ordered, and specifically asked if I could have just one slice (the menu says two) of gluten free toast and avocado.

The bread was standard cheapie but it was gluten free, and avocado half as expected - when I went to pay (and it took a while) they charged me the full price despite having half the serve, I get the menu is the menu but really, I was hoping to be a regular, and there’s little chance of that.

This cafe is on the corner of Mount St and Walker St and is bustling with office workers in the morning grabbing their morning coffee. It also has indoor and outdoor seating too.

I ordered the chicken Caesar wrap for $8 lunch takeaway and it was average. The chicken was served hot and crispy which I liked. Service was okay and the wrap was made to order.

Another disappointing chicken burger. I was hoping that I would like the food at this cafe given it seems very popular and cheaper then a Five Point burger or a Devon sando. But not to be, the Portuguese chicken burger was not good. The chicken was hard & extremely dry, tasteless except a glaze of pesto herbs on the outside. Not sure how it is Portuguese, aside from the pesto there were some smashed avo, tomatoes and lettuce. The side chips were ok, but still no where near the Devon ones.

food was alrigjt and there coffee was okay too! Great customer service and friendly staff . Prices are a little expensive and their quantity doesn’t suit the price . Nice but can be improved

This place really disgusts me. I was waiting to be seated for 20mins and there were plenty of seats but instead of letting me sit, they told me to wait by the door and I waited for 1hr. I gave them my time and effort to buy something from that place but they didn’t bother to even let me sit. I wen to fancy a bite (3 shops away) and their service was fast and the food was spectacular. I recommend going to fancy a bite because their baguettes are super super delicious and if i had to rate it out of 5, I would rate it a 10! If I had to rate bunker, it would be a 1.

The Cafe is a nice chilled out place for Coffee and Snacks.
Coffee is good.
Staff is very polite and one of the only places open on Saturday. Service is good.

We have been here a few times now and enjoyed the good food and coffee each time. Such friendly staff, generous serves and very reasonable pricing. I love the healthy aspect of their menu. We visit Sydney for work and will continue to keep coming back. Thank you Northside Bunker.

I just spent the last 5 minutes in the doorway waiting to be seated. Two waitresses kept walking by me and made no eye contact what so ever, I felt invisible. The guy making coffee looked up and saw me there, and still nothing. I gave them my time and then just had to walk out. Disgusting.

There was a huge queue outside this place so assumed it had to be ok. To get my ham and cheese croissant and fresh juice within 5 mins was incredible , I thought it was a mistake. Clearly these guys have their process down pat to please the impatient business crowd on their way into the office.
Both tasted great as well. Nice thick slices of cheese and ham, perfectly melted and warmed on crisp toasty pastry - washed down with a nice apple, ginger and orange juice - what a great start to the day!

Another joint serving coffee from the grounds stable and not to shabby either. Brewed decently and prompt.

Food is quite nice with generous servings and I guess not to bad on the value either

Since my client was in North Sydney for this week and next, decided to give new cafes around the local area a try, and The Bunker was my Friday sample. Went with my colleague and ordered my usual 1 cappuccino with 1 sugar for takeaway and again, was surprised to pay only $3, which is relatively cheap. Seemed really busy and popular with a lot of diners. The delivery of the coffee was fast, and the taste was as expected.

Definitely had a quick and positive impact on my review of this place, might try place again for food next time! P.S. Unsure if 'The Gounds' is related to The Bunker, from the coffee cup they provided me?

What a nice surprise. We were in Sydney for a wedding and needed a good breakfast the morning after. It was delicious, with good sized portions. Generous smoked salmon eggs. Everyone loved it. I would definitely visit it again. Best breakfast I've had in Sydney so far

Lovely avocado smash with hashies. Waitress was attentive and friendly. Busy environment. Coffee was great. Had a few issues getting someone to allow me to pay my bill

Coffee is good here, had it a few times before and it's been consistently good.
Went for breakfast today and it was ok. I had the avocado eggs which would've been nicer if it wasnt for strong taste of pepper. Also, the sourdough toast was a bit disappointing, burnt on the edges and hardly toasted in the centre - the fact that had to make an extra effort to cut around the sides annoys me!
My partner had the bunker benny. He ordered it with salmon and received bacon instead. He was too hungry to ask the staff to change it and so he dug in and liked it anyways. He gave the Northside Bunker a 4, but I wasn't that pleased so 3.5 it is...
The orange juice was the highlight for me.

We usually dine in and order burgers. I was in a rush today and decided to get a takeaway tandoori chicken wrap. Asked it to be toasted but was told they couldn't do it because grill was used for burgers and covered in grease now. Took a first bite and instead of chicken I got a mouthful of sweet chutney. I used serviette to wipe off some chutney. Second bite I got a mouthful of yoghurt! The next several bites continued with overwhelming amount of sauces, It was so much of it and almost off putting. When there was only a quarter of wrap left, the sauces disappeared altogether left with dryish chicken bits. The wrap bread was fresh and soft but they should really reduce the amount of sauce and spread it evenly.

Terrible food, a table of 6 and we're all left disappointed having to go straight to Coles afterwards to get rid of the taste. I had eggs benny with a cold bun, not toasted just cold I asked about having it toasted and was told it was fresh so didn't need toasted it went soggy and was just disgusting I will not be returning and suggest you don't visit! Yuck, what a waste.

Had the rocket, quinoa, haloumi and chicken salad last week and it was so good! I think it was a special on their chalkboard menu but is happily go back and try something else.

I usually grab a $6 Apple/pineapple/mint juice from them every other day as well since their juice is much bigger than the $6 juice from top juice (in greenwood plaza) and they don't screw it up every time like top juice does and the cup isn't half full of foam.

Overall, great place to go for work lunch! Haven't tried their coffee yet so no comment yet.

Central location, burger. There was a change here in the last quarter last year - change of name etc. It's at the crossroads of Walker and Mount Street so huge amounts of passing foot traffic. Had their beef burger with chips - one of the most common items to eat in North Sydney sit down places. No demerits here and service OK. Interesting thing when you're paying the bill at the counter and the guy is on a lower level than you - found this funny - small things, small minds I suppose.
