Review Charlie & Franks North Sydney - North Sydney

The Cafe is good but the only problem is almost all the tables are reserved after 9 am. It's not based on first come first served instead it's all based on reservations. Vegan options are very limited.

Love the breakfast, g8 coffee and awesome service

The staff are always friendly and accommodating, even with my many last minute bookings during their busiest times. Food is consistently delicious and caters to different dietary requirements. We come here regularly and absolutely love it.

We ordered morning tea individual boxes for our catering event at work. Shredded chicken bagels were very tasty. But It'd be good if size of the bagels were a bit bigger.

Been coming here for coffee and occasional bit of brunch for a few years now. Never had a better iced long black anywhere else in the city! They really pay attention to the coffee and deliver a great shot. I've moved over the Bridge now but I still keep coming back every time I'm this side of the harbour.

Wow, Vegan Bowl is awesome! Perfect balance of ingredients, textures and cooking, I love it.

I live a block from this cafe and have already been here on a couple of occasions. Its always been a highly rated cafe, mine and other's eyes so I decided to do a proper write up. The cafe has a nice modern feel to it, using plenty of wood and tiles used in all the right spots. They've got one table outside which is a bit odd and I would suggest putting more out there unless there is any legal restrictions. This put less burden on the tables inside which is always packed during the morning peak hour whenever I'm there. The coffee is always on point. As per my picture you can see the coffee art is nice and it stay distinct past the midway line as you'll expect for a latte. The real test is whether they can do the same with a flat white like my top five cafes, which has less foam. The large may seem expensive at $4.50 compared to the other cafe in the here, but the large is actually large and feels like it's more than the standard mug although this could be an optical illusion. The cafe doesn't do surcharges for paying with card and they have toilets available onsite. I recommend coming here for coffee, you'll get something that is well made, smooth and tasty.

If you want a place that serves your coffee with a smile and amazing latte art, remembers your name and order, then this is the place to go. Oh and the coffee is top-notch! The food is also pretty damn good but I’m most certainly a coffee regular here.

Clean and fresh inside with really nice and friendly staff. Efficient table service and good tasty food that has obviously been prepared with love. I’ll be coming here again for sure.

Went there on Thursday morning for breakfast
The cafe was quite busy
We ordered cappuccino, hot chocolate, hash brown and eggs, sausage and muffin and cherry and raisin sourdough. I really enjoyed everything.
The coffee was definitely awesome. The bread was so delicious. The eggs were biodynamic but I don’t really know what that is. The tomatoes were tasty. Really, everything was great.
Service was good. The price is relatively high compared to other cafes in North Sydney.

The place was absolutely buzzing at morning tea time Friday, couldn't get a table so had to go elsewhere. We tried again the next Friday, a bit earlier this time & just managed to grab a table. Bright, clean & sleek decor, refreshing when compared with many of the rather generic coffee places around North Sydney. We got coffee & a treat. There were a few in the cabinet to choose from, but the brownie cookie sandwich caught my attention. Came in few different varieties too, Nutella, Vanilla, peanut butter & salted caramel, which was my pick. The brownie/cookie was soft & chewy. The salted caramel was smooth. Very decadent. The coffee was quite good too.

Ordered the honey comb waffles, it was served with an elegant display of a flower and fruit medley. It’s felt like a dish you would get in some hipster cafe in Melbourne. The kitchen staff were hipster Asians so that’s great.
——
tasted really delicious. Like me. Almost as delicious as my instagram @vancityoliver

I love the vibe of this place! Coffee is great, although it can get quite crowded at times. I had the avo on toast, while it was pretty good, I did find it a bit dry. The second time I went there I had the pork roll, which was delicious. Overall, a positive experience!

It was lovely to return to Charlie and Franks after a short absence (due to my friend who lives locally to Charlie and Franks being one of the oldest women to climb to Mt. Everest base camp. YAY) We called in on our way back from the airport and as usual the staff were lovely, the breakfast scrumptious and the coffee just gorgeous. Do wish they would open a cafe up here at Turramurra. I'll just have to keep on going down to North Sydney to visit Jenny.

Charlie and Franks lately has been my top 3 lunch place at the client site. Nice coffee and healthy drinks, plus all the healthy meal for lunch!

Order d the Japanese roll. It was nice but waaaay over prices. The bun was soaked in oil which is disappointing. The service is great though.

A delightful cafe in the heart of North Sydney with good coffee and quick service. The smoked salmon omelette was perfect and from ordering to receiving my meal was 10 minutes

Good food and great coffee! Staff were helpful, food came out quickly even though they were packed & interior was also great. Would definitely go back :)

I really wanted to love this place but found the Mango Lassi, extremely watery and flavourless and not sweet. The best way to describe the taste was like water, which was for $9 for a pretty small glass just not acceptable. I had a vege burger which was priced at $15 which tasted fine but didn't have a vege burger inside, just a mushroom and a small amount of haloumi and a bit of kale with pickles. They are certainly not pulling out all the stops here - the prices are high and there is nothing close to value for money being provided. Good atmosphere.

So much to love about this place! Coffee is easily the best in North Sydney and the food (including take away) is always delicious. Staff are always lovely. Only issue is that sometimes there is a little delay but always worth the wait. 10/10!

Considering the barren café landscape in North Sydney, I'm giving this place 3.0/5 stars. Also, it's Sydney, not Melbourne. I'm not expecting Melbourne coffee!! ;)

I have been to Charlie & Frank's 3 times this week. I ordered their Healthy Kickstart breakfast meal every time, but I substituted the eggs for something else each time (I don't eat eggs). I also ordered a long black twice times, a flat white twice, a filtered coffee once, and the kale juice (i.e. the green one).

The Healthy Kickstart was bad the 1st time, and much better the 2nd and 3rd. There was too much salt every time! The 1st time featured hard, unripe avocado and firm, tasteless tomatoes. The best part was the 2 slices of sourdough with butter!! The worst part: I don't think they substituted the poached egg with anything else, despite being OK with more mushrooms OR tomatoes. They said yes, so that was my expectation. Plus, they weren't busy.

The 2nd and 3rd time I went, I was served good avocado, and got bacon substitute instead of more mushrooms or tomatos as I had requested. Of course my answer was "HELL YES!!". It's bacon.

The juice was great. The smoothies were like $9, so I didn't bother. I guess the customer base in North Sydney have more money than me!!

The long black had way too much water; it was awful for a long black. It was more of an Americano, which is meh.

The filtered coffee was better, but not amazing. It's OK though, because this isn't a specialty coffee shop. Charlie & Frank serve good filtered coffee, and that's what I'd order again.

The flat white was average, even by Sydney standards. By Melbourne standard, it was slightly below average.

This place must be new, inside looks like a dentist surgery - white and bright! It's my new fave for my coffee on the way to work. I also had the breakfast wrap today and it was really good. The food looks pretty good will try some more things...
Love the halloumi sliders!

Probably my own fault, ordered the green detox juice and it was way to bitter with a woody celery after taste. Would have much preferred it with a bit more apple or lemon. Beautiful interior however 👏
