Review Had To Happen - North Sydney

Well 4.5 actually. Very friendly staff, good tasty food, the kids loved the nachos. Good for kids and groups, good selection of drinks including sangria which looked really nice but we couldn't drink as driving. Probably busier on week nights due to location. We'll be back.

A deliciously simple and cosy experience would sum up my evening in Had to Happen. Perhaps it was because of the construction site in front of the restaurant and the dreadful weather that I was the first and only person there when I arrived. The staff were warm and attentive the whole time without being intrusive, good job making it not awkward for me. I didn't get to try the food - the menu is very Mexican in a good way - but it looked delicious and my group really enjoyed it. The margaritas was well-made and the prices reasonable. Would like to go back for a proper Mexican meal.

Overall a really nice place! Yes the decor is a bit dated however the food makes up for it! We got the stuffed chili's for entree they are a must!! As for mains wasn't a massive fan of the seafood as the squid was quite tough however the pork and beef was really nice! To add to the whole experience it would be nice if they added cheese with meals as well as typical Mexican sauces to spice up your dish. Staff were very friendly and the service was very prompt and quick. Would defiantly visit again!

Serving awesome Mexican food for 21 years. Unfortunately I think they still have the original tables, chairs and booths from the first fit out. If you can ignore the decor and are just after some good Mexican food than you have come to the right place. The menu is basic but has all the good stuff. The combination dips are delicious especially when you mix the salsa and guacamole and the bean and cheese dips. The pineapple margarita was refreshing and either didn't have a lot of alcohol or the alcohol was very well disguised which is even more dangerous as I could see myself having a few too many very easily! I shared the fajitas with my husband because I originally ordered the burrito but it was a bit of a let down. The filling was too much cheese and not enough other stuff. It came with a side or rice and veggies but I almost wish they had just put it all in the burrito to break up the cheese a bit. The servings are generous and we were even offered top ups but we were so full we couldn't eat any more.

We’ve been here many times. You don’t have to spend a ton of money here to satisfy your hunger if you order ‘all you can eat fajita’. The fajitas are brilliant and I can fault them at all. The meat was tender and we enjoyed it. We loved poppers as well. The quesadilla were also fantastic. The food is always of a good standard and we always leave full! Our waitress was helpful and attentive, the remaining staff was busy cleaning and organizing - a sign of a well run business. Of course, it isn't fine dining but it isn't meant to be! It got very noisy when it busy but food was excellent as was service. Perhaps not the best place for a romantic dinner. It isn't in the best of neighborhoods but don't let that fool you, this place is funky. Inside it is very colorful. But the atmosphere in this place is far from formal. It's friendly, loud, noisy and familiar. If you don't like people and if you're uptight about someone walking past you while you're eating, you won't like this place. If you're there to enjoy the food, have a good time with friends, or don't mind a lively atmosphere, you'll do fine here. Go there, put on the sombrero, sip on a mango margarita and have a good time-sharing the All-you-can-eat fajitas with friends All the good stuff applies here... friendly service, great food, Mexican beers and delicious margarita. Perfect for a group of friends. Well worth a visit, enjoy !

We honestly weren't expecting too much when we came here but were really happily surprised by the service and food. After a week of eating out, it was really nice to have something that tasted like a traditional home cooked meal. Our waiter was super lovely, though spoke little English but tried his hardest which was really lovely to see. Would recommend :)

Maybe it was because I was in a really good mood or because I was really hungry, but I absolutely loved the food here at Had To Happen. I have been looking for good Mexican and I have found it! My partner and I split the "ultimate nachos" and then got a jug of margaritas amongst four of us. The margaritas were quite nice, a bit sweet but that made the salt on the rim that much nicer! The nachos were fabulous and perfectly portioned to share for two. The berry enchilada to share at the end of the meal was different than I expected - not as fruity, much sweeter, but really quite nice. The restaurant was basically empty (I think all the construction going on outside right now is putting people off) but I'm so happy to have discovered this place, I will definitely be going back!!!

Came here with a work function for lunch and was pleasantly surprised! We had the set menu all you can eat fajitas, staff were attentive in refilling and taking orders. Had a great time drinking the margaritas and sangrias too, wanted to sit and have them all day, but alas I had to return to work. Very impressed by this place and will definitely return for future lunches. I have also made a booking for later this week for dinner with the family.
