Review Shinju Teppan Northside - North Sydney

Order the Okonomiyaki - won't be disappointed - a delicious way to finish off a fantastic dinner! We sat at the teppanyaki grill and it was fun to watch all the food being prepared. $10 corkage but also an extensive drinks menu. Wished we were more hungry so we could have tried more dishes!! Will hopefully return!

Disclaimer as my friend use to work here. However, it was delicious. Particularly the scallops and okomomiyaki. I heard their chef has recently changed, so hope they maintain their quality. The service was great as expected and the atmosphere was cozy and inviting. Recommendation: surf and turf, okonomiyaki

I love this place at lunchtime - it's amazing! However, the menu is very strict in the evening. if you eat Japanese frequently, you may not find some of your favourite dishes . Definitely don't ask them for anything not on menu because they will lecture you about traditional japanese cooking and assorted rules. E.g. You might be female but are not allowed to eat prawn skewers at 6:45pm because men drink heavily in Japan until 7pm.

Early bird special are good value. However the green tea cheese cake was a let down. Was frozen. Hard like a brick.

Staff were attentive. Decor was great. Before I start, I have to recommend the plum wine. Delicious if you like it a little sweet. Great selection of Sake, and Japanese drinks. Food is great, fresh and hot. Simple Japanese food - great for a mid week meal when you're not fussed cooking. I had Karaage Chicken Udon. Broth was flavoursome and balanced.

I wish those people who gave positive feedback have ever ate authentic Japanese food in Japan lol. Anyway, I didn’t enjoy the dinning experience in this restaurant. The flavour of the meal was too salty and just not right. Plus, please train your staff properly. But never mind, it’s just really disappointing when it comes to expecting decent customer service in here.

This my favourite place to go for Japanese food! The food is flavoursome and delicious. I usually go for the sashimi and Udon noodle soup which is to die for. The service is amazing as well. The staff are friendly, attentive and very courteous. The restaurant also has a lovely atmosphere with beautiful wood panelling and paper screens at some tables. I highly recommend this restaurant for a date night or a group meal.
