[invite] Bianca: Perhaps one of the North Shore’s best-kept secrets, The Italian has been romancing the locals for many years. Our visit early on a Saturday night was full of frenetic buzzing activity, accented by fantastic food and wine… and okay company, Alex is sort of alright.
WOW had the most delicious vegan pizza in a long, long time! I will dream about this pizza for sure. 😍 The pizzas we ordered were not on the menu for some reason, but when I went in to order online for home delivery, they had extra pizza options which were bomb!! The vegana comes with mushroom, zucchini, capsicum, olives, 'notzarella' cheese, nutritional yeast, and the porcini patate with porcini mushrooms, potato, rosemary, garlic, notzarella, nutritional yeast, on a tomato base. I have to say they were the cheesiest, most cheese-tasting, cheese-like vegan pizzas I have ever tasted. It's not like I was ever a cheese-seeker, having to have it with all my meals, but these pizzas will satisfy and fool any cheese lovers.
The porcini patate was everything - it was indulgent, creamy, carby, and just really having potato on pizza is a good idea any day of the week. I highly, highly, recommend this pizza. It is simply delicious.
Delicious pizza and fantastic customer service.
Love coming back to this wonderful local small business :)
Their hot chocolates are amazing too!

You walk in the door here at The Italian and it instantly smells so good - exactly like an authentic Italian restaurant should!. Your senses tell you loud and clear that you're in the right place! The whole place has a comfortable and cosy feel to it as well so you relax and feel at home straight away.
Omg
I now need a moo moo and a bariatric bed in the local hospital after the 1.1m of pizza special on a Monday night. Amazing! Delicious pizza, great service and vibe.
There are about 20 pizzas on the menu at The Italian. Ranging in price from $19 - $25 you can have everything from the basic Ananas to the fancier Genovese (roast potato, pork sausage & pesto). The pizza that Ivano whipped us up alongside his little apprentice was good, seriously good - all pizza should be made a woodfired oven don't you think? If you love pasta then there are quite a few selections on the menu. All of the pasta is made on site and you can have everything from pappardelle with porcini mushroom, cream & truffle oil to a spinach & ricotta gnocchi with burnt butter & almonds. Apparently the Nonna of the owner of The Italian is the inspiration behind most of the dishes that are on the menu (her beautiful face is used in the logo) and as we all know, whether our Nonnas were Italian or not they were damn fine cooks.
I had my birthday dinner there and I had my main for free:)! The pizzas and pastas were so delicious- I can never have enough of them! Services can be a bit limited during busy hours but it's not too bad. Definitely one of my favourite Italian restaurants in Sydney.
OMG. This pace is seriously Sydney's best valued Italian Pizzeria!
If you are after the Americanisms (enter Hawaiian pizza, spaghetti and meatballs) this is the wrong place for you...Thank GOD!
Food is fresh and vibrant, the wine list is world class! it is all Italian and covers 90% of the Italian Regions, a master stroke for a list sub 50 wines!
the pasta is all house made daily from Organic, biodynamic flour and the wine list is predominently organic and totally amazing!
Don't let this one get away from you....... you will regret missing out!!
Had its moments, but some areas to work on. A few key dishes are off the charts, but their success is somewhat tempered by how ordinary some of the other aspects. One of my constant gripes with this restaurant (I frequent it regularly) is the lack of cutlery and napkins kept at the table.
With the entree, I would highly recommend the meatballs (polpette al furno) and the caponata. The other options are not entirely appealing enough to write about.
The pizza selection is good, with the calabrese and diavola being highlights. The potato and rosemary pizza is also a very good option for vegetarians.
The desserts are the high point of the meal. The fresh gelati as well as the tiramisu is a must. Any of the specials on offer, such as the pannacotta or torte are also very good. The pastas are also quite nice, with the ragu and gnocchi being the favourites.
Overall, a good place to dine out, with very good offerings in pizzas and deserts.
Yum. Great service and tasty meals (pizzas are exceptional!). The atmosphere was also very good, buzzing but not too noisy. I highly recommend the potato and rosemary pizza.
No Gluten free. Been once, good food and good service. Booked to go back with my wife but had to cancel as there is not single meal that is gluten free. Very surprised given that 99% of restaurants cater for this. Can't go back until this is sorted out.

New Italian Restaurant. At last, a new restaurant with an almost Melbourne "Wine Bar" feeling about it - a new venue that adds real flavour to the area and much needed variety.
The food, service and wine / beer selections were so good that I am booking our corporate Christmas Dinner there.
Highly recommended - and a great addition to the Willoughby / Lower North Shore.
These people deserve to do really well!
My new favorite spot, wish i lived closer. Wonderful food, flawless friendly service, fabulous wine list. Last time we let our waiter order for us and were in awe of the insalata di cavolo and the house made gelati as well as the always perfect house made pasta and pizza which we are slowly trying all of.
Delicious and friendly. We have been twice now and our food was made with love both times. The pasta is so fresh and they have some great simple dishes. I found it hard to select because there were so many choices that I liked. I had the tagliatelle with eggplant, saffron and tomato and the gnocchi which was my favourite. My four year old son had almost a whole margherita pizza, I was lucky to get one slice. I find it hard to believe parents feel they should simplify the menu that already has some obvious dishes that suit children. Our kids eat what we eat and this is the Italian way. I think it's insulting to children not to let them explore new tastes and have new experiences. I'm so glad this is our new local pizza and pasta experience.
About time there's some decent food in our area. I'm sold on their gnocchi with almonds and the italian sausage pizza. The Missus won't stop raving about their lentil salad. Prices are fair, pretty cheap actually. We will be back for more. Definately beats schlepping over to haberfield
Fantastic!!. What a great restaurant!! Fantastic pasta (the Umbria spaghetti ragu was our favourite) and amazing pizza (the fungi fontina was delicious) ! The restaurant has a great vibe and fantastic service. Will definitely be back.
Not bad ! - Nice Pizza - Service friendly
