Review Lam Lam - Northcote

Edward Hore
This place is normally extremely busy, but we rocked up 30 minutes before closing and never felt rushed. In fact we left 15 minutes after closing time and others were still there. Food is excellent, staff are very friendly, but you came to here about the food. The food is amazing, a little Australianised but still true to the flavour palate. We mixed and matched our meels to have a little of everything and the bill for 3 people was still under $60. Amenities are clean and everything is easy to find. This is not our first visit, and we will return again soon.

So busy, so casual, yet the food was yummy and priced well. Don't expect anything fancy, don't expect lot's of chat from staff. You will get a great place to eat, drink and enjoy your friends company.

Exceptional friendly service and the salt and pepper calamari is second to none! A never fail crowd pleaser!

My favourite Vietnamese restaurant in Melbourne. Excellent vegetarian/vegan options - they will make pretty much any dish vegan for you if you ask, just make sure you ask for vegetarian versions of everything even if it's just Vegetables (beef stock!) Best salt n pepper tofu I've EVER had - order the "Crispy fried bean curd with spicy salt"
Greg Brooks
Service was quick and friendly, meals where ok, I had the curry chicken my wife had a seafood noodle. We would go back, for another go not sure if it will be a regular eating place though.
Prakriti Mateti
The chicken pho and beef pho were excellent. They came out quickly too but that could be because the restaurant was empty (lunch time). They have lots of seating so bookings are probably not required.
Graham Jameison
Good tasty good but the pho is a little overpriced now. I ordered 17 lemon wedges and they hand delivered me 4 and a half small size lemon wedges this upset me
Yap Gih Choy
Nice food, price OK, good environment and free Chinese tea...

This place is anything but authentic. Don’t listen to the propaganda. After being told we would need to eat egg noodles in our pho, we watched people who arrived after us, served before us, with rice noodles. I have no idea how or why, but I will not be going back. Ever.
Yumyumfoodyum
Ordered the chicken pho and the broth was clear, tasty and rich. The noodle quality was good, not the cheap stuff that just breaks apart. Also tried the salt and pepper tofu which was delicious.
Jesmindah
Lovely food fast service we really enjoy coming here in large groups they always accommodate for you always very busy store though I like very much

Very average vietnamese.... Food is not fresh and after having tried most of Footscray and trying a lot of them on High Street, this is definitely one I would not recommend.

3.5. Pretty decent Vietnamese restaurant with authentic food. Satay chicken was nice, wonton noodle soup was average, crispy fried egg noodles were very good and the sauce for it was excellent. It's great they provide red vinegar which is often hard to find in restaurants, and works great in combination with soy sauce for the egg noodles. Would be very keen to come back to try their other dishes.

The food at Lam Lam is delicious, authentic and it's such great value. The interior could do with a bit of a make over but anywhere you can BYO is always a winner in my eyes.
Happyley
The fried beef rice noodles here is excellent! Perfect amount of beef/ noodles and beanshoot ratio. There is also good wok hei. Prices are very reasonable also.
FoodN
A cheap and cheerful local Vietnamese restaurant. It was extremely busy with takeaway orders. Won tons were bland. Chicken stir fry with ginger and lemongrass and the green veggies stir fry were tastier. Service was quick.
Ajcajc
Fresh (you can see the huge turnout of food coming out of the kitchen), quick, good variety, reasonable priced. We love the won ton soup and the spicy salt chicken or calamari. And the home made lemon drink.

Came here twice and tried the rice vermicelli noodles with spring rolls & the chicken & need pho. The rice vermicelli was so refreshing with the fresh crunch of the veggies and the sauce made it so much better. Perfect for a hot summers day.
I love my pho but this place didn’t quite do it for me. I found the soup a little lighter than most other places, assuming it was chicken broth? It lacked the heartiness of what you’d get with beef broth.
Overall it’s a nice little place with cheap food & variety on the menu.
BradAtLarge
Very polite and friendly staff. Fast service. Shared the wonton - both fried and steamed options - plus San Choi bao, its was tasty and ok. Also had the seafood combination egg noodle soup which was good. Not sure the food would merit a return trip but the place is friendly and cheerful.
Teresa
Calamari are always so fresh & crispy would say my favorite dish on the menu. Ambiance very very casual, little loud when it becomes busy.
Makruud
Rock solid, fast paced Vietnamese. Have depended on Lam Lam for many years and they never disappoint. Don’t whinge if it’s packed, crowded and noisy. The food is completely worth it - always fresh and flavoursome. Fantastic customer service. Thank you Lam
Lam x

Great place to go if you're looking for delicious food at a cheap price. The service here is very efficient with your food served almost immediately. I've noticed that the restaurant can get very loud during busy periods as it's a popular location for a quick dinner.
JDP79
Absolutely loved this place. Happy and friendly staff made the dinner even better. Loved the chilling calamari and the spring roll salad. It’s BYO beer and wine!! Get there

This is a nice place to bring friends who would like to drink their own alcohol with their meal. The pho is quite average and occasionally quite good, depending on the time of day. I find that the lunches are often better than the dinners. The atmosphere is often quite noisy and bustling, lots of locals laughing and generally enjoying their drinks with their meals. People spend a long time eating here, the food is cheap and plentiful, but it's not for you if you're after something of high quality. It's perfect for budget and generous sized meals with mostly average taste. Nothing to really complain about, just nothing to boast about either.

I’ve been coming to Lam Lam for years, the place doesn’t look like much but the food is so delicious. The service is prompt and friendly. It’s also super budget friendly. 10/10 would recommend if you’re feeling like a good feed that won’t break the bank!

This place is a delicious gem, it’s delicious, fresh veggies, did I mention it was delicious?! Some of the best in Melbourne, been coming here for years and will continue in the future :)
Λεία Εφστρατιου
Delicious food for a decent price. Their fried bean curd with veggies and mushroom was particularly good. Fast service and tea is served the moment you sit down. Will be back!
Melbourne Food Journey
Fantastic place for a quick meal. We got a table immediately during Saturday lunch and the food was served soon after ordering. The pho and other noodle soups that we ordered were just what we needed in this cold weather. Highly recommended!

Being referred to try this place from a friend I came with the family. This place is so busy, having a reservation for 5 people we were actually seated on a table for 4 and then a waitress merely attaching another seat to the end for all of us to sit which I found to be despicable on all fronts.

Selections were as follows:

Food:
• Honey Chicken
• Fried Rice Noodles with Seafood and Vegetables
• Combination Fried Rice
• Chicken with Vegetables
• Battered Calamari with Lemongrass (no chilli)
• Beef with Garlic, Ginger, Lemongrass & Chilli

Drinks:
• Tea

Honey chicken came out, portion size was good but the taste was only sub partly there. It didn't evoke any extravagant flavour. Very generic to be honest.

The Seaford concoction arrived next and the seafood was delectable, especially the fish. The rice noodles were beautiful with the squid.

Unfortunately I didn't like the rice whatsoever. It was bland, flavourless and didn't emit any inspiring Chinese sensations. Biggest let down of my dining experience.

Elevated chicken with vegetables was a pleasant dish. The protein was prepared with grace and shone on the plate.

The highlight of my night was the calamari. We all came here because of the overestimated rating from a friend, and what a delectable plate. The lemongrass added pure indulgent flavour to the beautifully cooked calamari. It was battered with powerful technique. We even asked for two lemon sauces because it was so delicious.

Lastly was the beef dish my brother ordered. It came sizzling and was alluring to look at. Sorry to point out it tasted common, nothing screamed out to me. I very surprised with this dish to say the least.

While eating we divulged in some tea, it was delightful to absorb and cleaned the palette.

Ending a exiguous small bustling eatery with a mouthwatering calamari dish for all you lemon grass oriental cravers.
Anna Pham
Great table service. Food came out at a decent time (for 3 dishes we waited around 20-30mins). We had the crispy combination fried noodles (which didn't have much sauce and was on the bland end), the salt and spicy crispy chicken (which was new and quite enjoyable) and the wonton noodle soup (the wontons could do with some improvement but the broth on the other hand was very nice). Overall, a pleasant experience.
Lscig1980
Yummy, fragrant and delicious pho!! Scrumptious dumplings, and beef noodles!!! and great service....kids were happy there too!! Yummy, would go back in a heartbeat!!

Honestly been to better Vietnamese joints. This place is always crowded as the location is good, somehow don't like Asian when the meat cuts are not good and somehow feel undercooked. Staff in their own world disinterested, didn't have chilli oil, chilli paste, soy sauce on the table:( there are better options down the road.
T_I_Foodie
Underwhelming at best. Grotty melamine crockery, slippery greasy floors and more a cheap cafeteria than restaurant. Food was average, the service okay - staff were friendly but under the pump so they did fine. I won't go back.
Alloacol1965
The best salt & pepper squid I've tasted in a long time. Large tender crispy slivers with a wicked lemon sauce as an option to pour on top, only down side a bit pricy at $19 a serve.
Trey Kirby
prices are ridiculous now. use to be cheap, but they put the prices have gone up.
and service isn't always good. I have ordered food a couple of times now, and when I get there
they only just start cooking it and it doesn't take long to cook bloody rice.
Craig Broadbent
Cheap and cheerful with great service. Food was excellent and at such a great price I'm not sure what there is to complain about! Just don't go expecting anything fancy and you will love this place.
Anthony Sciuto
We are regulars at Lam Lam. It's a great option for a quick, cheap and tasty meal. The food is always good (keeping in mind the price bracket) and service is quick. Nothing fancy but t always hits the spot. Our favourite dish is the chicken with cashew nuts and vegetables and the spring rolls come a close second.
Daisy
Exactly what it sounds like. Exactly what you want for relatively cheap and delicious Asian cuisine!

Staff are friendly and helpful and will probably help you make up your mid if you can't yourself!

This restaurant is a good Vietnamese restaurant without being super special.
Servings are generous, complimentary Jasmine tea, and food is usually pretty good.
Standard Vietnamese dishes including pho, rice noodle soups, beef dishes, chicken dishes, and fried rice are usually pretty good.
Service is a little but abrupt but as expected. :0)

I loved coming here and will miss it. I'm on a low income and could always get a decent feed here when I was too tired to cook. They've just hiked their prices up and priced me out of the market. So sad :(

Take-away: Viet Spring Rolls (chicken) fresh with plenty of lettuce and Viet mint; Mains- chicken with lemon grass and chilli very tasty and quite spicy- overall a pleasant surprise!
Alex Tee
Tried this place a while ago. Nothing special about it, just don't pretty fun of the mill food. Not particularly flavoursome or fresh. Service was fairly useless, I don't be rushing back.
Tez
Did not enjoy the food from Lam Lam at all. The San Choi Bao was bland, the chilli chicken was bland and the spring rolls were bland. The combination rice and szechuan chicken were ok. The service was ok. Will not be returning. Would much rather go to Bang Bang down the road. Photos show the non-spicy spicy chicken and the half filled szechuan chicken.
Johnathon Kellargias
Ordered take away as we usually do
And food was perfect just ordered some chicken rice and also some spring rolls no complaints food was fresh
Yummyfood
Lovely friendly staff, food is fresh and tasty every time. Vege spring rolls are the absolute best!!
They are vegan friendly too, i always order a special dish and they make it with vege stock and are very considerate.
Claudia Bonnici
Lam Lams is our go to restaurant every fortnight!! Great location, amazing food and the owners Lam and his wife Kim are sensational at making you feel extremely welcome. Spring rolls are sensation and phó... SPEECHLESS!!
Matt
Standard average Vietnamese food. If you are listing this as the greatest Vietnamese food you haven't eaten far and wide that's for sure. Sure it's cheap and the bowls big but quality over quantity please!

Sat near the front door, big mistake in winter. It doesn't close properly - staff realise this and have to constantly come and close it, that's gotta be tiring when busy. What is good is that the fluro lights are only in the kitchen but you still have to use tissue paper as a napkin, don't like that.

Service is the usual, no eye contact and a couple of nods when the order is acknowledged. Beef Pho comes out fast as everyone knows. Lam Lam has been here for a long time, legend has it that his was the first place you could eat at on High St once you had got past the Town Hall.

The Pho was pretty average. Needed a lot of hoisin sauce and lemon to pump up the flavour. Plenty of beef and no fat - which is excellent. Noodles fine but the only veg is a mound of bean sprouts and some herbal leaves. So there's not really a lot in it when you break it down.

So not my cup of tea but certainly palatable food if you like sitting in a place that resembles an airport food hall.

When I first walked in I thought I was in for areal treat as it looked like an authentic vietnamese restraunt. However, I was somewhat dissatisfied with my vermicelli noodles with shredded pork; it was tasteless and rubbery and left me feeling unwell. My friend ordered pho which also lacked flavour in the broth. Wouldnt recommend this place it you're after authentic vietnamese cuisine. The staff were friendly and the meals reasonably priced, but I won't be back.
Alijay
Super fresh and tasty Vietnamese food. Quick service too. Had chicken pho, beef fresh spring rolls and vegetarian lemongrass dish - all delicious. Will definitely be back!

Been to Lam Lam’s on numerous occasions and always leave full of clean fresh classic Vietnamese food. Lam Lams’s basic yet hearty traditional dishes packs flavour, only using the freshest of ingredients delivered by friendly staff. My most recent visit was on a Thursday night for dinner with a friend and we ordered the classic dishes of rice noodle soup in vegetable stock with vegetables and bean curd as well as the egg noodle soup in chicken stock with pork and wontons. The large servings and outrageously cheaply priced food trademarks Lam Lams as being one of the best Vietnamese restaurants for quick, delicious family friendly dinners. The restaurant does not look like much upon entering yet word on the street clearly spreads about Lam Lam’s delivery of scrumptious dishes at affordable prices making for the restaurant to always be buzzing with people often creating difficulties in getting a spot to sit. The dishes arrive promptly steaming hot and can be observed being prepared as all the cooking is done at the front of the restaurant demonstrating the traditional vietnamese customs of constructing the meals. The broths of the soup where clear and full of comforting aromas with the noodles wholeheartedly sucking up the flavour. The vegetables in the rice noodle soup where perfectly blanched remaining their crunch and the tofu was delicate and fluffy on the inside. The Wonton’s remained there formation floating above the perfectly succulent pork in the egg noodle soup and both dishes where generously garnished with those delicious crispy fried shallots that add texture. On previous occasion’s we usually indulged in rice vermicelli with spring rolls as this is our favourite dish at Lam Lams as well as the fried egg noodles with vegetables, always served to perfection. Overall Lam Lam is a great regular eatery, nothing fancy but is sure to leave ones belly bursting and not shy of a dollar.

This place is fantastic, my friends and i go pretty regularly, have never had a bad experience, it's always packed but service and food never lacks it's always quick and consistently good, couldn't recommend it enough for cheap, quality Vietnamese food!
Meeateor
A local favourite. Fresh food in a basic setting with a fairly authentic feel, at a reasonable price. An comfortable choice after a long day at work, for lazy weekends and to nurse a hangover.
Dean
One of my favorite cheap eats restaurant. The food was fresh, the place was constantly full, and the service was incredibly quick. We were very impressed with the quality of food on offer, and couldn't really pick a favorite dish.
HotChipy
I use to order takeout from Lam Lam all the time. They use to be cheap & tasty but over the past 5 years prices have increased & the food has fallen in quality. I ordered my 3 favourite dishes recently & was very disappointed to find the wontons were overcooked, the salty squid was soggy & there was very little chicken in my vermicelli chicken with spring rolls. What makes it worse was I paid $40 & was left feeling very unsatisfied & a little ripped off. I won't be returning which is sad because I use to be a regular.
THE_G_MAN
No thanks. Didn't rate this place, food is average and place is nothing special. Much better viet options around. Best thing about it was byo liquor. Lift your game...
North Fitzroy Food Addict
To be honest I wasn't very impressed with the food here. With the amount of choices when it come to Asian food out there, they really need to pick up their game. There are too many places within a similar price range for them to compete as they are not bringing quality to the table. Food lacked flavour and they pretty much mopped us out of the restaurant as they were closing up trying to get us to leave. Sorry but we won't be back.
Kelly
Always a favourite for a value nutritious dinner, I love the chicken pho, plenty of shredded chicken breast and fresh herbs and bean shoots
The main meals are big size and enough for 2 people
The staff work so hard and do a great job, always had fast and efficient service, they never make a mistake with our order :)
Hungry-Caterpillar
Delicious wonton soup (I added extra veggies to my order). Broth tasty & will return for soup again. Very reasonable prices, nice casual spot for a Asian meal. Food comes out fast - no fuss.

Eating here makes me feel like I'm starring in a gritty inner city slightly sepia toned drama where I exist in a twilight world of cheap food and laundromat visits while working my deadend graveyard shift job and have important coversations over vegetarian singapore noodles and sadly watch passerbys drift past the window. They have very generous BYO rules and a friendly bottle shop next door so you can drown your sorrows if it comes to that. They also give out free prawn crackers with takeaway; always a delightful trait.
James
I've been to Viet pearl and bang bang which are further up high street so I thought I'd try this place as it has quite a high review. Wasn't too impressed the quality vs price didn't match at all. San Choi bow was literally frozen veggie mix done in soy sauce in lettuce. Lacking in flavour. The crispy bean curd with spicy salt was missing the salt! The pancake was okay but at the end for $50 it's not what I'd expect. Won't be back and going back to my regulars!
Sam Anthony Parry
Fresh ingredients and a good menu of standard Melbourne vietnamese fare. An unpretentious and understated, well-priced outlet with a great location.
Laura Jayne
Pretty decent pho! I don't think we're ever gonna get truly authentic Vietnamese food in Melbourne, so we should just be thankful that there's some alright places like this who do a nice tasty broth.
Foodfuk
There was tiny pieces of STYROFOAM in my pho!!!! They replaced the pho, however refused to give a refund and were extremely rude, also told me never to come back again even though I was completely calm and understanding about the situation. Won't ever eat here again, the kitchen obviously has some hazardous issues and the staff are very aggressive
Lisa Poppy
Absolutely over-rated. Food was good until other Viet places popped up a few years ago. Prices went up but standards dropped. Do yourselves a favour and go down High Street a little further to Bang Bang (easily the best Viet on the strip).
Michy
Came here on a Tuesday night for dinner. Greeted quickly by the friendly staff. Quick to order and quick for food to come out. Delicious fresh ingredients and so cheap! By the time it came to paying, place was so full, there was a queue out the door. Not the greatest Vietnamese I've had but probably the best in Northcote so far...
Caffiend
It's not the greatest Vietnamese in Melbourne but I am still happy to patron this place as the only decent Vietnamese restaurant in Northcote that I know of. The rice paper rolls seem really fresh and made to order. The pho broth is tasty and the soups are big and filling. The vermicelli bowls are pretty delicious, too. The staff are friendly and efficient and BYO is mandatory (Harvest Wine & Liquor is right next door). Nice.

Food is good, especially Pho nad Spring roll. The waiter is also friendly and communicative. Atmosphere is small, however it is nice and clean toilets.
Umami
Gone downhill a bit lately. The jump in price raised my expectations which, were unfortunately not met. Might stick to the restaurants on High Street in Preston from now on.
Tania
Special vietnamese rice dish is to die for. Nice and addictive.. Chilli oil is nice too.. Worth trying for sure.
Cheezles
Used to be a local favorite and is still run by the same lovely family. But quality and servings have decreased as the prices have increased. At least you can still BYO and BYOB. People still flock here in their droves so come prepared for a wait during peak times.
Beau James
Lam Lam is essentially a staple for anyone who lives in the area. Easy to get to, cheap as the fish shop a few doors down and very tasty. The food is really good and there is a big selection for people so anyone can eat here.

If you want to sit outside you'll have to be very lucky to get a table and it's always busy all the time so expect a bit of a wait.
Steph A
Overrated and not that cheap.

We were excited to go here after seeing the eating and reading the reviews and we were very disappointed. The food was flavourless and underwhelming. I'm seemed like there may have been msg in it as the rest of the night out mouths were left dry! Flavourless glug
Hollieborowski
Tasty. I live across the road & order take away from here all the time and have embarrassingly tried almost everything on the menu! It's what you expect from a place like this. Big meals not the greatest quality but for the price, what do people honestly expect? In my experience there is always plenty of fresh veg and I always request fresh chilli which without could be bland. Pho and lemongrass chicken standouts.
Nadia82
If you enjoy meat that has been already cooked then cooked again when you order it then this place is for you. Chicken and beef both taste weird. Will only be eating vegetarian meals if we go back. Heaps better, fresher places around the area.
Half Shell Obsessed
Cheap and tasty. Love coming here after work to fill an empty stomach. Great prices, excellent service - nice warm staff and very prompt orders.

It's also BYO which is a great bonus - we always have a great night here.

It can be quite busy and noisy so don't take a first date here. Perhaps some friends or family.

Love it.
Jess Carey
... the spring rolls were fantastic, but other than that, it was a little bland, to be honest. It’s a pity, because their rice paper rolls are delicious and the place has a really great Asian street food kind of vibe, but I wouldn’t order this again.
Shanton
I ordered what I thought would be Broken Rice (it had all the makings of it but it wasn't) - it was just basic steamed rice, with grilled pork and shredded pork. It was really tasty though - but it wasn't broken rice like what an authentic Vietnamese restaurant would have. That doesn't mean it's not a good restaurant at all. I know people who like it and I am not one of them, primarily because the only authentic things about this restaurant are their name (clearly Vietnamese), their polite and friendly service, and their springrolls.
SBMTH
Northcote Institute. Always love a good dose of Lam Lam's.
Really lovely staff great food and no crap Top 40 music playing unlike other places on high street.
Ben To
Like. It can be noisy and crowded, but that's about all I can fault in on. Good air conditioning. Top food.
Lauren Rizzi
Always super busy but the food is good and quick.
So Hungry
I'm a regular at lam lam and I've never had a bad meal. The service is quick and the prices are very reasonable and you will never leave hungry. Lam lam is always full of people which speaks for itself.
Drew123
Lam Lam is the my favourite Vietnamese restaurant!!!! So fresh, tasty and immaculately presented!!!! Cheap, busy and friendly atmosphere... love it!!!!!!
Allie
Really average, don't get the hype at all. I have no idea why so many people love Lam Lam, but I had heard from various friends that it's amazing, the best Vietnamese in Melbourne, only place to go on High St, etc etc. After my first visit, I thought that I must have got it confused with something else, because it was such a bad experience. I've now given it 3 or 4 chances; the worst was terrible, the best dining experience was really average.

I just don't understand. It's always REALLY packed - like, 6 people crammed around 4 person tables, with chairs blocking the walkway. The atmosphere is thus unpleasant, it's hot, loud, cramped, and it just feels like you're in their way by being there.

The food has been really average - no better than a Vietnamese dish I could make at home. It's bland, made without love or care, slopped on the plate and generally.. blah. I don't mind loud, busy places if the food is good, but I don't want to sit in a restaurant where the staff begrudge my presence, only to get served blah food that needs oodles of chilli/soy/hoi sin/ANYTHING to give it some semblance of flavour.
The Curry Hunter
Everytime I have come here(sometimes with 8 people) the lovely staff have done everything perfect ,the food is the best Vietnamese in northcote ,and not to mention extremely cheap ,10 dollars for a perfect beef pho that comes with an massive fresh dish if sprouts and basil lemon etc ,try the spicy salted calimari ,what they put in the dipping sauce must be a well guarded secret...you will always find this place full
And for good reason
Ally
Give it a go. Lovely staff, tasty fresh food, good prices. What's not to like!
Andy
I come to Lam Lams around once a week from the other side of town. The food is always fresh, tasty and service is good. Best Vietnamese restaurant in town!
Allana
I love ram rams. You cannot beat the value - it's actually cheaper than cooking. The beef pho is top drawer. Some tasty starters on the menu too that I could recommend including the prawn and pork rice paper rolls and the crispy won tons. Always fresh and delicious. They do take away, all packed in seperate containers so it travels well.
An
Often pop into Lam Lam for some quick takeaway. Can always guarantee a good meal, and servings are generous in size! Simple, good and super cheap!
Highly recommend buying extra for the fridge and lunch
Nicole Raynal
Terrible service. We waited for 35 minutes to be served two simple soups. They were nice, but definitely not worth the wait. Our waitress was not apologetic in the slightest.
Hnhs
Travelling fine over time. They've slipped a bit in quality since opening and the prices have crept up. Basically its a north of the river Vietnamese option in the manner of Victoria Street Richmond restaurants during the 80s. Still great and cheap, but the food is good not amazing.
Frances Bailey
Tis good. The food is great. People are lovely. Very cheap and crowed.
Travelbugalug
It's cheap and the service was very nice but we found the food very average... Sorry... Wish we could say more positive things...
George
The Best. I have been to this restaurant over the last 8yrs and the food just keeps getting better every time I go all up more than a 100 times the price and service are great
Sarah Lucy
Love love love lam lams. The crispy calamari is amazing, the rice paper rolls are delicious and the place is ALWAYS buzzing.
Elliesays
Not sure what the hype is about... food is average at best. Beef pho is bland but large portion. Would not go back for vietnamese food for sure. Other stir fry dishes are ok.
Lostsheep
Hectic and fun. It's ALWAYS busy in Lam Lam. Tables packed full and a quick turnover. It's a super cheap, eat and take off sort of place. Not massive on attentive service, but as long as you know what sort of thing to expect, it's great. There's a good selection of tasty dishes, it's BYO anything, and it's not expensive. Great to fill your belly before heading out on High St.
Carter Henly
Phoverload.. The amount of meat they put in the MIX pho is so generous.
This will bring me back!
Shaun Tan
Mixed Spring rolls though many to go around, were too dry and wasn't crispy enough. Beef pho was just okay, not tasty.
Natalia
Pho lover. The food is affordable, yet delicious! I highly recommend the chicken pho (the broth is beautiful) & the rice vermicelli is another favourite of mine! I will definitely keep coming back :) Yes, it's busy, but it's always worth waiting for a table. I'm yet to be disappointed by this place!
Lucy
Love lam lam! Chicken pho is amazing. I go here multiple times a week with my girlfriends and we are always completely satisfied!
P.loh
Small portion for the money. The portion of food is small compare to other Vietnamese restaurant in the area. Order the Vietnamese rice, all it has is rice and a miserable slice of pork that is actually deep fried not grilled.
Michael Vecchio
Great service & fresh food can't be beat for a good quick meal ! Will return regularly
Mario Karts
Nothing special. No customer service and very hard to get a table. The few times I have been there, the food has been bland and inconsistent. This is not authentic Vietnamese.

They even forgot my order once when dining with my partner and then tried to bill me when we got up to leave, refusing to believe my plate did not come out. Disgraceful.
Jonathan
Love it. It was so good every single time I get something different. The fried ice cream is the best.
Emily
Yum food! Very cheap and BYO is a bonus. I had the fish in lemon grass and chilli; superb! It gets very busy, so if you're after a table, it's best to book.
Jmk
Good take away Vietnamese. Nice, reasonably priced take out food. The restaurant is kind of canteen-y but is fine for something cheap and cheerful.
