We ordered takeaway from Mesob recently, and it was absolutely delicious! The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the flavours of the food were incredible. We definitely will be going back
The interior is friendly and welcoming. There a many little details focused on the ethopian culture. There were many traditional dishes to choose from but this was our first time trying anything from the african continent so we decided to try the plate that gives us a chefs selection.
The service was great and the ambience was lovely and cosy.
We ordered:
•omnivore combination platter
•sambosas
•beers
•omnivore combination platter
A very colourful dish with a variety of different meats, there was chicken, beef, lamb and goat, they were sitting on a bed of ethopian style flour bread ( this was the most filling part ) the side salad included was a garden salad we really enjoyed this dish. the plating style was really interesting and you just have to remember to wash your hands before you start esting with them!!
we also couldnt get past taking two sambosas home as they looked amazing. they reminded us of mexican fajitas only in a different skin.you can have vegetarian or meat and when we took them home they were still amazing to eat with the chilli salsa.
we are excited to go back again and try more dishes on the menu. good luck to the team.
I am a vegetarian, so didn’t have many options. Tried a few from the shared platter but not my type of food. Guests with me enjoyed it thoroughly
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
If you haven’t been here before...go!
The food is simply amazing. Get the sharing plate (veggie, meat or mixed)
You eat with your hands. There was a few hick ups with our order as we asked for a couple of dietary changes but they corrected quickly and the service was great over all.
It’s a no frills restaurant but food was incredible.

First time to try Ethiopian food
We ordered the big plate to tried everything
We're suprise how good it taste
The bread also had interesting sour flavour but good to eat together with the meat or veggies
Friendly staff and great service too
Absolutely loved this place. Very quick and friendly service. They also sat us down immediately eventhough it was a busy Saturday night. We had the shared platter for two. Everything in that tray was amazingly flavoured and cooked. The lamp and the beef, the vegetables, the lentil , all of it. Really enjoyed it. Would definitely make this place a regular.
Come for the vegetarian banquet, stay for the cheap Ethiopian beers! Loved everything this place piled on the injera. The banquet is the way to go because they clearly know what they are doing. The food also wasn't too salty like at some other Ethiopian places. It was super busy on a Thursday night and we were lucky to sneak in without a booking. I will definitely be booking next time though because I wouldnt want to miss out. The price is also so right.
Wow! Just amazing.... of allll the food I have tried this was my very first time at a 'real Ethiopian' restaurant and I absolutely loved it, food was so delicious, the curries are super tasty and the sharing platter is just fantastic.... I also loved the Ethiopian beer they serve, highly recommend!
We loved the food and the staff !! So friendly and humble !
Food tastes delicious and the blend of spices just make it perfect for your taste buds ! Injera was so tasty and doro Kaye and doro wot is a MUST TRY !
Go for the comfort food.. feel and great vibe !
4.5. I love Ethiopian food (absolutely adore injera bread), and Mesob is one of my top two Ethiopian restaurants in Melbourne. A nice space with friendly and good-humoured staff, it was quite busy on a weekday night, although we managed to get one of the tables at the back without booking. We started with the lentil sambosa, which was like a massive samosa. The lentils were a little flavourless although the berbere chutney was great. Next was the omnivore combination platter and this was again massive! There is one large injera bread at the bottom and smaller injera pieces separating the platter which I thought worked great. The vegetarian portions were amazing and probably outshone the meat options. The yatakilt alicha (cabbage) was lovely, as was the kayser (beetroot) and kik alicha (yellow lentils), but the shiro was my favourite - delicious flavours! For the meats, the chicken was my favourite with lovely spices, whereas the lamb and beef were a little drier and more firm. The side salad and mild chilli sauce were also great condiments to the meal. The platter was excellent value and also one of the most filling meals I've had this year. Highly recommended.
Amazing!!! We absolutely love going here. The teff bread is Devine I always order extra even though they give you more than enough 🙈 the humble customer service does not go unnoticed and keeps us coming back. Awesome job you guys!!!
First time there after reading about their vegan options and was not disappointed at all. Loved the amount of options available and the staff were fantastic. The food was superb and will definitely be back for more.
Rate it 4.5*
Delicious flavours in all the dishes I had.
Kaye tibs, $23, great aromatic flavour, medium level of spicy.
Miser Wot, $14, I would rate this medium-high spiciness but lots of complex aromatic flavours especially tasty paired with the sourness of the injera.
Great quality injera. Very happy with the serving sizes.
Had takeaway (came with large pieces of injera and a salad), and will definitely be back to eat in.
Food was excellent! Doro Wat was my pick of the dishes - wonderfully earthy. Definitely an interesting dining experience. Staff were super polite and great with the kids. Little cramped but decor was nice.
Funky little place with warm staff and delicious food!
Try the Herbivore’s platter; whilst the meat option is lovely, opt for the vegetarian one.
The lentils are just gorgeous with all the fragrant spices...
Cozy, friendly and efficient staff and absolutely delicious food. This was our first time eating Ethiopian and it did not disappoint! Will be coming back for sure.
Love this place
Staff are super lovely
Food is amazing
Live entertainment
At times a little busy
Can be hard to find a park
Cheap drinks
Visit regularly
I found the herbivore platter to be delicious. Especially happy to see how many vegan options there were. Good value per portion sizes as well. No doubt will be back again in no time!
We had a really nice experience at Mesob--our first time trying Ethiopian cuisine. We came at opening time on a Thursday evening and got a table for two. Many of the other tables were reserved. We ordered the Spicy Lamb, the vegetarian Shiro and an Ethiopian Shai tea at the waitress's recommendation. The food was rich and delicious, and the injera bread was fluffy and fragrant. A definite standout was the friendly and accommodating service. We're keen to come back and try the cocktails!
Seeing as it was everyone else’s first time eating Ethiopian food, we opted for the omnivore platter which had a good selection of meat and veggo dishes, all portioned out which was a nice touch. Only downside was the beef was a bit dry, everything else was delicious. We all loved eating with our hands, so forget about cutlery and dig in!
Beautiful food. We got the herbivore platter and it was plenty of food at a reasonable price. Staff were polite and attentive. The restaurant was fairly quiet and calm which made for a nice evening with friends. Decent selection of wines. Would recommend, particularly if you haven’t eaten Ethiopian before.
Such a beautiful restaurant! A variety of vegan options cooked with love, full of flavour and spice. We got 2 vegan sharing platters for 7 people, only 2 being vegan and it was a massive winner! The staff were so accommodating and helpful and the atmosphere was so warm with delicate pieces that will bring you straight to Africa!
LOVE ❤️ Mesob!!! Went there for our anniversary and they were warm and lovely and the food was spectacular! Can't go past the big share platters. Love you guys. Xxx
Great, friendly service (kid friendly!) And delicious food - love the sharing platter. We look forward to coming back and trying the desserts
I was pleasantly satisfied with the herbivore platter for one at Mesob Ethiopian restaurant. Unfortunately i couldn’t finish it because the bread was very filling & the serving was generous. There was live music when we went for dinner tonight, which was nice. The restaurant was clean. Staff were friendly & allowed us to split the bill.
Probably the best Ethiopian food I’ve ever had. Mesob’s curries and dahls are all distinctly different, the quality of the ingredients are excellent and the accompanying pickles complement it all
Considering we have never had Ethiopian food and didn't know what to expect, it was a pleasant surprise however some dishes may be abit too spicy for some. Excellent service from the staff members and cosy ambience. Definitely should give it a try!
Most delicious meal had for this year small place but very busy staff was very friendly testy platter to share with friends and family!
Gluten free injera ( bread) never seen it another Ethiopian restaurant have been 4 or 5 in footscray
Live music Fri & sat
Thank you Mesob
The food was delicious and the service was great. I honestly ate until I felt sick and then kept eating. Would definitely recommend and will eat here again.
Wheelchair accessible. No accessible toilets.
Smaller venue so not suitable for large groups of chairs. We got in on a week night with no reservation okay though.
Quiet place. The food is traditionally finger food but they do have cutlery available. Also the food has a bit of a spice kick to it but it was manageable.
We loved that there was Ethiopian beer! Limited desserts as Ethiopian cuisine traditionally doesn't have desserts.
FANTASTIC RESTAURANT!!!
Great ambience, amazing vegan options, diverse wine list & very friendly waitstaff what more could you ask for.
I can't wait to take all my friends to Mesob.
Fantastic little find just around the corner from us. Lovely, cosy, ambient interior with subdued lighting - attentive and friendly staff, and being our first time with Ethiopian food (which I was always curious about) we were advised to try to the sharing platter, and get a range of dish samples, (similar in presentation/serving of an Indian Thali). Very tasty, light and fresh but immensely satisfying. We went for the meat share, which included 5 vegetarian samples, 2 hot and satisfying stews, and goat meat nibbles on the bone. Very reasonably priced and quick service. Can't wait to try the spicy lamb dish next I am back, which will be soon.
I went here with friends last night. I got there on time for the booking but my friends were half an hour late. When I got inside I noticed that it was hot and stuffy inside so I was wearing a t shirt, later in the evening it seemed to be more comfortable though. The nice waitress asked if I wanted drinks so I looked at the wine list and I saw that they had some vegan wines, I assumed that all wine was vegan. You learn something new every day. It was obvious that Mesob caters very well to the vegan crowds that are plentiful in the Inner North suburbs of Melbourne. When my friends got here they ordered the trio of dips which were vegan. The dips were: a capsicum dip, a hummus dip and I think an eggplant dip. All of them were nice but my favourite was the eggplant. The dips came with deep fried injera bread which was unusual, it was delicious but oily.
My friends ordered vegan dishes to share which came with injera bread, one of them ordered rice as well and she soon realised that she didn't need the rice. I ordered the omnivore platter to share with a friend. I had a similar thing at the Abyssinian a few weeks ago so it would be interesting to compare. The vegetation dishes were some cabbage thing which was ok, a beetroot dish which was yummy and some corn dish which I really liked over all I thought the vegetarian dishes at The Abyssinian were slightly better. The meat stew and some lentil dish (I'm not sure if it had meat in it) had tonnes of flavour and were by far the best Ethiopian dishes I've had in a restaurant. I'd probably order those two dishes alone if I came back. I liked that the dishes were divided into two portions so it made sharing more comfortable hahahaha.
For dessert my friend and I ordered a vegan brownie with vegan ice cream to share. The brownie wasn't that big but it was very rich and delicious, it came with strawberry sorbet and mango sorbet which was delicious. We enjoyed the live traditional music and the people working here were very friendly. I'd probably take my other friends and family here, if I can drag my Dad to Ethiopian hahaha.
Absolutely loveeeed MESOB!!! My boyfriend and I travelled from over an hour away and we were very keen for our first ever Ethiopian feast however we were so unsure on what the food and service would be like..
Our worries were totally gone when we got served by 2 lovely people! The service was great and food came out super fast. My boyfriend and I had the herbivore platter, he had an Ethiopian beer and the brownie for dessert. It was all sooo delicious and he loved the beer too! When we went to pay, we were chatting to the lovely man over the counter, who was all smiles and so friendly when he said that the beer was on the house! We really didn't expect them to take the beer off the bill but it was super kind of them and we will be back in absolutely no time at all! Again, I highly recommend, you won't be disappointed :)
I had never had Ethiopian food before Mesob and boy was I missing out! The food here is nothing less than delectable and it's certainly a very unique experience. However the service , while not unfriendly, was lacklustre . Our table ordered a shared Omnivore platter for 3 and it was delivered promptly but it was clearly only for two people . We confronted the waiter about it and he told us "that can serve three" as if it could theoretically be stretched to fill 3 adults if we only ate a little bit less each regardless of us paying for 3 serves. Then we called him on it and he actually laughed and told us they had run out of injera bread. I'm not sure how they managed to run out of THE staple ingredient of the restaurant but the waiter assured us he would organise something for us and made out like he was really going out of his way to do so. We finally got our 3rd "Omnivore platter" about 15 minutes later and it was missing half of the listed curries. We told him this and he told us they had run out of the missing curries and that we could have it free of charge. It was decent of them to give it to us free of charge, but we would have preferred his honesty from the very beginning instead of his underhanded attempts to fool us. Still though, the food is superb and I will be going back.
Having had authentic Ethiopian food in Africa, it was interesting to see how Mesob would compare.
I visited Mesob on a Saturday night with a group of friends. The restaurant was vibrant and culturally decorated with paintings and woven decor. Live enjoyable music played from the back of the restaurant that set a positive vibe on entry. The restaurant was tightly packed.
Staff was friendly and informative. There was one setback when we were told that our booking was only valid for one hour as they had a large amount of bookings that night. This was disappointing as we should have been informed when making the booking over the phone.
The kitchen was able to cater for most of the dietary requirements around the table. We ordered two giant shared dishes (vegetarian & mixed). This catered more than enough food for the six of us.
The dishes arrived quickly served the traditional way on a gigantic fermented pancake-like flat bread base. All the toppings were spread in sections accross the edible base, ready to be eaten. This kind of food is designed to be consumed without cutlery, which makes socialising over food much more enjoyable.
The cuisine was tasty and well spiced. Both the meats and veggies were cooked well and tender to touch. Some of the different toppings tasted too similar in flavour, the 3 lentil curries were very alike for example. I also found the taste of the fermented bread base to be a little too strong in a vinegar-like flavour and sometimes this overpowered the taste of the toppings.
I'd have to say that the restaurant came close to our African experience but was a little less traditional to what we previously experienced. Given that we are in Australia that is understandable.
The food here is very good however our experience with the customer service was not the greatest, we ordered multiple sharing dishes, they ran out of bread and then tried to get us to share a platter for two with three people but attempted to charge us the price of a three person platter but only serving us a platter for two. we weren't too happy about this, the staff said it can be for three people but we argued and said it was for two as there was two sets of curries and two sets of breads not three. the staff were apologetic in the end once we explained to them we weren't that happy about it.
Would eventually try it again as it was a moderately annoying mistake however the food was good and they were eventually apologetic and didn't charge us in the end so hopefully next time there is no such issue.
First time here and overall it was a lovely meal. We had the omnivore platter between 4, all very tasty and very filling. Loved the braised goat!
Thank you for making my birthday special Mesob!! the food was 5/5 service was 5/5 even very busy Saturday night! live music beyond amazing! Will be back more and more and bring all my friends and families.
First time trying Ethiopian food so I don't have anything to compare it to, but it was DAMN DELICIOUS!!! We ordered the Omnivore Combination Platter which is a steep $26pp but you leave full and the food flavours are amazing. I really enjoyed the eating experience too - no cutlery folks!
Awesome Ethiopian food, been here so many times never disappoint food is so tasty and full of flavour When ever we come we order Herbivore platter soooooo yammm! Highly recommend Mesob Ethiopian restaurant!

The food, delicious...
The service, so quick and polite...
The price, just right...
Mesob, must try!
Wednesday evening... and it was jam packed with people expressing life with the new but some what familiar flavour their tongues were experiencing.
Fantastic tastes, and as far as taste, there is no match for the Ethiopian cuisines here at Mesob.
An enjoyable meal served in a unique manner which I presume is typical of Ethiopia. I loved the flavours and want to come back to try other dishes.
The staff were friendly and helpful and the decor has an African feel.
Very busy, book ahead or be prepared to sit at the communal table.
My first time having Ethiopian food and what a fabulous experience! We got the vegetarian share plate which only had one non vegan option (but they made it vegan for us) and it was really delicious! Friendly staff, great service and fabulous food! Would definitely come back!
Really interesting and delicious food and wine! It is the best place to go for a date with your significant other. Really enjoyed the sharing platter.
Great food, service and decor. Love it and will return. The only thing that wasn't amazing was the price, it was a bit pricey in comparison to other Ethiopian restaurants. But it's the only one in the area it seems, the food is very filling and the portions are generous.
Absolutely delicious! we have eaten there a few times and always get the meat share plate, the staff are super friendly and the cider they stock is great! 5/5 :D
Delicious food, lovely staff, very warm and welcoming atmosphere. We had both vegetarians and meat eaters and they happily provided a half meat half vegetarian mixed platter which was very tasty. I highly recommend.
Lovely atmosphere and excellent happy friendly service. Loved the music too created a wonderful ambiance. Not sure about he texture of the injera bread, I know very little about Ethiopian cuisine so presume this is the genuine article just not my thing. The platters are filling tasty and a great sharing experience although potentially a double dipping nightmare :) lovely place will be back
Friendly staff and prompt service. we chose the omnivore banquet and Ethiopian beers. Too much to eat! A flavoursome selection of vegetarian and meat dishes, without being overly spicy. Bright modern setting, hipster clientele. Thank you.
Flavoursome food that was amazing! The staff were very accommodating in trying to get us a good seat towards the middle of the venue. We will surely be back again. :)
Great addition to high st northcote. Having lived in east Africa, I miss Ethiopian food - the best cuisine in the east. This is a friendly place. Great food - fantastic to have Ethiopian here in northcote. We really enjoyed the platter - staff were accommodating to do half vegetarian and half omnivore. Good mix of spices and flavours.
I've heard so many good things about Mesob, but this was just amazing! Not knowing quite what to order, we went for the combination platter and were blown away 👌 Can definitely recommend & will be back.
Such a great place: warm, atmospheric, fabulous food, great service, live music. Wow. Shared the omnivore platter with a friend and it was just delicious. My new favourite restaurant.
Delicious food and a great variety, interesting eating with your hands and the platter for two was both generous and easy to navigate. Enjoyed it immensely.

To eat, we ordered the Herbivore Combination Platter which had a taste of each vegetarian dish, injera bread and salad. At $23 per person for a minimum of two people, it is great value. It looked really beautiful and was a great introduction to Ethiopian food for us. I was surprised at the injera being more sour than I expected. I had feared that I would find Ethiopian too spicy but it was just a pleasant heat in my mouth by the end of the meal.
An excellent restaurant! We ordered a dish for 2 to share, and it was delicious! I don't eat spicy food, but there were still enough dishes for me to enjoy! Would definitely go again!
My friend had suggested here but was worried we wouldn't get a table on a Tuesday night as she said it gets busy. We were lucky as I assume mid-week isn't as hectic as the weekends.
To be honest I had no idea what to expect due to ignorance and to never eating Ethiopian before. My experience and/or assumption of non-westernized ethnic places is probably very limited, but this place is clean, bright, welcoming, and chilled out - completely different from what I was expecting (refer back to the point on ignorance). The service was polite and friendly too.
We ordered the Herbivore combination platter ($23pp). Which is a selection of vegetarian dishes. I opted for the non-meat option because I was with my vegetarian friend, but when I come back will try something different. You were provided with plenty of food, which you eat with the Injera (flatbread) that comes with the platter and is what the dishes are served on. You eat with your hands so for all those who can't coordinate eating without utensils, this won't be your thing.
It's a great place for a mid-week date or somewhere different than the norm. Will be bringing friends back here to check it out.
We walked in without a booking on a Sunday and the place was fully booked but with a short wait we got a table. The food was so tasty and delicious.
Although they were very busy we had no problems with service and our food arrived quickly. The staff were so friendly.
A great place. Highly recommend!
Delicious platters (we had the omnivore platter and liked both the vegetable and meat options equally) and huge servings. You can always ask the staff to take away any uneaten food in plastic containers (or at least we did, because there was too much we couldn't finished). The honey wine was also very nice, and an overall friendly and cheerful atmosphere. I highly recommend booking on weekends, as we missed out on our last trip back.
Lovely atmosphere on the Friday we dined here with live music. Friendly staff who were knowledgeable and offered good suggestions. Order the platters and if you have room left get then get the sambosa. Super fresh injera and VERY generous portions.
Had dinner at Mesoub last Friday, it was packed so definitely book first. We had a sharing banquet dish and went for the smaller one of the two on offer (there is a meat and a vegi option). Was more than enough food for us and it was beautiful. My favourites were the beef curry (slow cooked and really tasty) and the pumpkin which had a fantastic flavour. It was strange eating without cutlery (you use bread instead) but we soon got used to it! Definitely recommend trying for something different in Northcote
Fantastic place to eat. Authentic, fresh Ethiopian cuisine. They put so much effort into creating a genuine atmosphere, with live bands weekly and Ethiopian dancing on the special nights! Yas the owner is so lovely and made us feel so welcome.
Great addition to High Street. We shared the omnivore platter which was great to try different things off the menu. Both meat and veg dishes were fantastic and there was plenty of food for us both to leave more than satisfied. Only negative point is it would have been good if we had been told which dish was what as there were certain dishes I would love to try again but I have no idea what it was. Can't wait to go back.
I have had Ethiopian before but nothing as good as Mesob. Real ethnic experience with a lovely service! Definitely will go back! Make sure you book for weekends as it was fully booked!
I visited Mesob for dinner with a group of friends. Between the four of us, we had a herbivore platter for two, and an omnivore platter for two. Both were delicious. The vegetarian dishes were so tasty, with every one tasting different and exciting. The meat dishes were really nice, the meat tender, not too salty or too hot.
The service was really friendly and attentive.
We also tried the Ethiopian wine which complemented the food well.
I will be coming back!!!
As in turns out, Mesob is the missing puzzle piece to the culinary scene in High Street, Northcote. More than that, this fresh gem is lifting the bar with ease, popping it down, and then serving some downright delicious grub that you wish you could cook, in a room you wish was your own, served by people you wish were your family and friends. For real, its top notch. This city can be pretty cold sometimes, thanks for turning up the heat.
This place was a remarcable surprise! Great atmosphere, excellent service !!...but the food, the food was just amazing! I will definitely come back any time I can!
Could not be happier with the experience at this restaurant. Service was excellent, ambiance and music being played added to the atmosphere. The omnivore deal between the two of us filled us up nicely and some excellent home made honey wine capped it off. Ethiopian eating is a unique experience and I would recommend to anyone to try this place.
We slipped in early one night for a quick dinner and really enjoyed it. We have eaten Ethiopian before, so injera and eating with our hands was no surprise. The Chef's Omnivore plate @$26/h represents good value. We eat a lot and we were very satisfied. The service was good and the atmosphere and restaurant fit out is very pleasant.
We had a great first time experience last night at Mesob, with the owner so generously allowing us to order when the kitchen was clearly closed. We Ordered off the specials menu and received two great meals - Roasted Lamb with Collard greens and a spicy beef and pumpkin stew, all served with plenty of "Injera" flat bread , which had a pancake like appearance and texture but made with Teff flour, a great accompaniment for this tasty meal!
Thankyou Mesob , we will be back !
Awesome to finally have such a great African restaurant on this side of town! We had the Herbivore Combination Platter for 2 and it was certainly enough to make us want to roll out of there full and content! Went on a Saturday night and we also had the pleasure of being serenaded through dinner! Service was cheerful and attentive. Can't wait to go back
Came here with friends and it was packed out! Luckily we booked in advance. Onya Hezza! Huge serving of meat dishes which were very tasty. Succulent pieces of beef with the right amount of spice which would just melt in your mouth. Amazing. The injera bread lovely and spongy really soaks up all that meaty goodness. And eating with your hands felt natural. It was a fun and exciting dining experience with friends and because we all shared the massive platter just brought us closer. By the end we were all filled up and satisfied. The staff are very friendly and the service was fast. We'll be back thanks for having us Mesob! Cheers!
I loved this place- the service was so genuine and friendly, the food was beautifully presented and the flavours were subtle and unique. Well done, I'll bring my friends back soon, thank you!
We have been back 3 times since our last review. We always have the omnivore platter and now there is consistency in the serving sizes of the meat. Our last 3 visits have been excellent, food is served quickly and we have absolutely no complaints and look forward to our next visit..
This is our 3rd visit in 3 weeks, it started off as a great find but tonights experience left us wondering if we would come back. On our first visit we ordered the omnivore combination platter, it was fantastic with a mix of around 60% veggies and 40% meat.
Our second visit a week later we ordered the same platter and this time the meat dishes were reduced slightly, again it was good..
Our 3rd visit the omnivore was ordered, at first we had thought the meat was coming later but on closer inspection we could see that each person had been given about 2 tablespoons of each of the 2 meat dishes, this put the ratio around 90% vegetarian and 10% meat, and nobody was satisfied and we felt embarrassed after telling our friends how wonderful it was and recommending the omnivore. The chefs selection of meat ran extremely thin tonight and in 3 weeks the ratio of meat varied considerably. Whilst it still had great flavours, it was a disappointing experience for such a new venture and it might be time to go back to driving to the west.
Very yummy food. We tried the platter do get a variety from the menu. Good, well priced wine selections. Friendly staff. A great new addition to the strip.
Excellent food, and really cool live music to keep a convivial rhythm to! Unfussy, warmly straightforward dining. Apparently this review needs to be at least 140 characters long, so enjoy this bonus sentence that leads nowhere.
We stumbled across this place and ended up having our minds blown by the sumptuous flavours and textures and traditional live music. We will be back very very soon and we can't wait.
Friendly welcoming staff, fresh and tasty variety of menu selection. Well suited for vegans, vegetarians and GF. Loved the atmosphere, music, entertainment and service. Well done. Definitely coming back for more.

Mesob's gracious owner had us in for their grand opening. The food is organic, creative and delicious, well-suiting those who favour a good hearty curry, comfort food or generous portions. GF friendly. Get in here and say hi to the team :)
This was my first experience at the Ethiopian restaurant and I can't wait to go back again!!! The whole dining experience was amazing. The food was so flavourful and I loved how they originally served it.
Great food, well-priced, lovely staff. We had the beef sambosas as starters. Couldn't decide what to get for the mains (because there were so many options), so we ordered the omnivore platter -- just delicious finger licking food! Can't wait to come back again with more guests so we can try the Negus platter (minimum of 4 pax). Definitely worth a visit if you're after some authentic Ethiopian food.
The food was delicious and the service was absolutely wonderful. Our waiter was so friendly and took the time to explain the dishes to us as it was our first time and showed us the traditional way they eat it.
We had the sambosas and peppers as the starters and for mains the chicken, lamb with collard greens, yellow lentils and beetroot dish which were all very tasty. My favourite was the creamy lentils paired with the Injera flat bread. The bread was soft and tender and was slightly tangy.
The honey wine was also sweet and delicious pairing to go with the meal. Would definitely go again and try their other platters!
Had dinner at MESOB tonight, and it was divine! The staff were so lovely, and explained all the food and how to traditionally eat Ethiopian food. There really is something special about eating with your hands! The red lentils were my favourite, the perfect amount of spice! Tender meat, all so full of flavour. Such delicious food that doesn’t leave you feeling bloated and terrible, incredible value, I will definitely be back!
Hands down this is some of the best food in Northcote! The share platter is the way to go and they can cater for different dietary needs. The staff are lovely and very helpful. The food is so delicious and very filling.
Wonderful customer service, delicious food and great value for money.
Most recently ordered the vegetarian platter for two ($23 per person) and was amazed at how much was part of the order.
Thank you Mesob - you are my go-to for Ethiopian food!
Incredible food, incredible service!
Got take away for 4 people. Vego & non vego. Got enough food to feed 8 people.
So delicious, each dish distinctive & thought out.
A great experience all round.
Go support!
Okay, maybe I am biased because I LOVE Ethiopian food.....but, you have to eat here.
The food at Mesob is absolutely brilliant and the staff are always very friendly and helpful. From Northcote, it is quite a drive to the next best Ethiopian food in Melbourne.
I highly recommend supporting this Northcote local - you wont be disappointed. And if you have the time, don't forget to drop into The Bar Next Door (yeah literally) for a drink and to catch some amazing African tunes.
