Review Ruckers Hill Cafe - Northcote

Mina
Yummy food. We had a banquet and the food was delicious. This was a great way to try things we probably wouldn't order if we chose ourselves. This makes it like a good food surprise. The dip that is like tzatziki but thicker should be bottled and sold; it's phenomenal! The baked custard dessert was my other favourite. The staff were so friendly and accommodating that they deserve a special mention. I will have to return with a takeaway bucket to see if they'll sell me their dip :)

Finally been dying to come here and didn’t disappoint. Takes me back to growing up and the flavours were just amazing! We had the $65 banquet and couldn’t finish it all I face I had to undo a button on my pants.... it was that good! Wash down with a tasty Macedonian Pinot Noir. Service was also great and very informative but the only little thing was it was a tad warm with the aircon not enough but the amazing waitress opened the door for some cool breeze. Can’t wait to bring my parents here next. Macedonia REPRESENT!!

Absolutely loved this place. We ordered many of the vegetarian items available including roasted garlic peppers, the potatoes, the leek/feta pastry and the baked musaka. :) All were extremely delicious. Bf tried the cabbage rolls and enjoyed them :) If I had to make a suggestion, it’d be a little less cheese inside the musaka because it had mostly seized up by the time we ate it. But still very nice. The waitress was very welcoming and funny. Thank you!

Great spot with authentic, delicious and flavourful dishes! We made a last minute reservation and the stuff was extremely nice and welcoming. After the big feast we were offered a digestive on the house which we thought it’s really kind. Would definitely recommend it and can’t wait to go back !!!

7/10 pretty good but "pricey" $56.00 loaded banquet menu #2, salad heavy and just missing the fish. Attentive service, good explanation of Macedonian dish and superb $44.00 Macedonian 2016 Alexander Merlot Cab Sauv Vranac blend.

I’ve had authentic Macedonian food before and this was a legit feast. The place has simple but stylish decor, the staff are friendly, and all the dishes were fresh and delicious. My favorite were the sarma, selsko meso, and the yogurt dip. Kevapi were good but quite different from what I am used to. The only things missing were ajvar and kajmak!

Great place for Macedonian food - think Greek mixed with a little Russian and a little Croatian. Stuffed cabbage leaves, meat stews and grilled meats etc. Friendly staff and comfortable restaurant on Northcote High Street. Busy with locals and families alike. Try the local spirit with your meal. Very nice. Enjoy!

Amazing Macedonian cuisine and one of the most delicious dining experiences I've had in a while. Great decor, nice cozy atmosphere, and an extensive menu. Tapas style, meze, banquets to share, or mains + sides... its sure to please. Food was delicious and full of flavour. Presentation perfection & portion sizes were generous. Dessert equally as devine. Staff very attentive and great service. Would definately go back again! 10/10! "Za merak"!

The lasagna was damn goooooddddd.. they make a homemade lasagna which impressed me, and the salad dressing was sooo refreshing and tasty!! Recommend you to try their lasagna and the mousaka too. Love it ❤️❤️
The Fo0die
Fo0die dined as a guest of Ruckers Hill Cafe and as such, the rating does not give any consideration to customer service.

Opened since 2010, Ruckers Hill Cafe was actually originally located just down the road before outgrowing the venue and moving up the street just last year in 2017. We arrived at the venue at 11:30am on a Saturday and found parking on Mitchell Street where all day parking is available except where signed otherwise. 2P is also available on the side streets with a short walk to the venue or parking on the street where the venue is located is only for 1P until 1pm.
The_littlehungrylife
This little cute and rustic cafe is just the most humble of its kind. The staff are so down to earth and warm. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience and really would recommend everyone to try their dishes!!!

We orders a latte, hot chocolate, selsko meso, vegetarian moussaka and a french toast. I especially loved both savoury dishes and would happily order them again! It was not only filling but pack with flavour.

The parking was not bad. If you walk further down there is unlimited parking, however there are plenty of 1-2 hour parking zones.

Love the food, staff and the space!
Good Food, Good Mood
This place might be small but definitely big on coffee and explosions of flavour in the meals. Service was a bit slow and the door to the courtyard/bathrooms was hard to open from both the inside and outside but other than that my experience was 5/5.

Coffee was as promised on the sign outside. (“We have great coffee and good conversations”) I ordered a flat white and it was hot and strong, it’s been a while since I’ve had quality coffee like that.

I ordered the veggie moussaka, it was AMAZING!!! Normally I get bacon n eggs but opted for a winter warmer instead and it did not disappoint. Would highly recommend. Perfectly portioned and the flavours weren’t overbearing. Please be mindful that the dish takes long to be served because it is baked.

100% would visit again, even just for my morning coffees!!!

This would be our favourite cafe in Melbourne. The GF French toast is amazing. Rucker’s version of smashed avocado with the freshest tomatoes you will have will make you feel all others are inferior!
Coffee is also strong and hits the spot. The one area that could be improved is the service time as food can sometimes take a while to come. Apart from that it would be 5 stars!

Went here this morning after deciding to go to a new cafe, but wasn't sure what to pick. A direct competitor across the street was packed, and this one seemed pleasantly calm, so I decided to cross the road and try Ruckers.

I'm rating this place a 4.5 because of the excellent coffee, wonderful food, and unique ambience. I was instantly greeted at the door by the owner, who personally works on the coffee machine at times, and got to choose between a standard table or a unique 'bench' table along the wall. I'm a sucker for quirks so I went with the 'bench' seat. (It's a narrow table designed for being social as a solo diner, or working on a laptop - a great idea!).

As I looked through the menu I noticed a lot of Macedonian food. When I asked the owner what the deal was, I was told that his heritage was Macedonian, and that some of the recipes on the menu have been handed down from his grandmother's cookbook. (So it's definitely authentic). It's still made in the traditional style which makes all the difference. I ordered the Sarma - cabbage, potato, beef - sold! It was really tasty, and felt healthy to boot. The pickled cabbage leaf surrounding the meat mix added an extra layer of flavour - I was happily informed that the cabbage is pickled in-house and served fresh. This is definitely the kind of food that feels 'home cooked' and adds to the vibe of Ruckers Hill Cafe as a place that's reminiscent of a friend's living room. A friend that's good at cooking and making coffee.

The house blend of coffee was a treat - not too bitter, and worked great with milk. The staff are very friendly and approachable, and the music nicely added to the ambience of the place. It's definitely the kind of place you could work, hang out, or come for a conversation when it's not too busy. I'm certainly glad I made the call to stop here and I hope others do, too!

I had the French roast, which wasn’t bad but based on the hype I’ve heard about this place I expected a little better my partner however had some for of smashed avocado and mushrooms etc. which was lovely. I believe these guys have relocated. Shop vibe was cool, a little bare.
Bobby
Ok food. Bread was stale but the rest was nice. Lovely waitstaff and nice coffee. Owner/manager seemed stressed and was taking photos of everyone eating breakfast from behind the bar which was a little uncomfortable. Hope they relax into it as the new venue is great and we have always loved this cafe :)

NEVER AGAIN!
I would rate this place 0 if I could.
When we got there. It was almost full. We got our table, we ordered our coffee.
The waitress come back to take our food order and after 15 minutes finally we got our coffee.
The doesn't taste good. They didn't even offer some sugar.
10 minutes later we asked about our food. In the mid time most of table left.
The waitress came back saying the chef was very busy. With 3 tables???
5 minutes later the table next to us ordered and in 2 minutes she got her food.
In total we have been waiting for 30 minutes and we left with no food.
So disappointed.
5 waiters running back and forward but the service still shocking.
If you don't want to waste your time avoid this place.
Dan Kelly
Had a latte and the village pot, both were great on a cold night. Village pot could do with a bit more herbs but that's just me. Will be returning
Julia Flaherty
Told waiters what I ordered but they still couldn't get it right, finally arrived cold and below average, there's so much better service and quality out there
Stunsail
Good food served by friendly, helpful staff. The breakfast & brunch menu has some refreshingly different additions like the Macedonian baked beans on organic sourdough, topped with feta and smoked pork & leek sausage - which I found to be delicious, with a couple of poached eggs on the side.

Really nice cafe. My wife had the buckwheat pancakes ($17) which she loved & I had Corn&Zuccini fritters with salad ($14) which were yummy 😃 & filling. Very good cofffees as well. They're moving to a larger place down the street. Will definitely return.

Had an absolutely dismal experience at this cafe. Came in on a Sunday afternoon just wanting to grab a quick sandwich. I ordered a juice on arrival which I realized, after about 20 minutes, was not coming. I had to order it again. We then ordered two lamb wraps which took a total of half an hour to arrive. The lamb was hot, warm and cold all at once. The service was disinterested and slow, which was confusing seeing as there were so few customers. The staff seemed to be in some kind of trance, or were trapped there against their will. It was an incredibly painful and annoying experience and I will not return anytime soon.

This place has very good coffee and a good selection of tasty food . We had vegetarian mousaka and beef lasagne both were yum. The only issue here is it can be slow and the staff while pleasant don't seem to be in touch with the customers ie: if you want another coffee etc . Apart from that it goes well in a very competitive area.

The worst food and service I have ever experienced. Took way to long to get food and then when it finally came it was wrong and no apologies.
I would never ever go there again. On the up side the guy behind the counter was so lovely and helpful but the other waitresses were not.
Guriqbal Brar
Very rude coffee maker, a young skinny guy with tattoo on his forearm and nose pierced who said he was too busy to let me know the kind of cakes were displayed in their cabinet adding further " That he didn't know" ( which he denied saying later) . As I waited he told me off in a rude tone that it's all written on the menu . Which menu was he referring too remains an enigma. I had just eaten lunch there nothing was mentioned on paper or with ink or chalk or whatever mode of "written" communication any civilisation understands (by all means , would have made an effort with smoke signals just as well if I could ). The cafe was circulating two menus the old and the new. (???) NO cakes mentioned anywhere. When I asked the passing chef, I was told to be patient by the same guy, hardly 6 people in the cafe and no one waiting . The food is good but this lad needs some education. His bitterness and accusatory temper is his prison which he may have carried all the way from where he has originated from . My review of the cafe is enjoy the food and avoid the barista . Disappointed.

This place was the first cafe I ever ate at in northcote over 2 years ago. I return here as much as my time allows me to. Food is brilliant. It's family run. Mums home recipes and if you're lucky she's usually in the kitchen cooking and plating up the amazing food that always puts a smile on my face. Super friendly family and staff. My particular favourite it ajvar. It's a must try!

Terrible attitude Went to Ruckers Hill with my husband and daughter for brunch. They seemed kid friendly with colouring books and the like. I asked for the kids menu.... was told in no uncertain terms, "no kids menu here". So I asked for a half serve of pancakes for her - and again was told "no we don't do that". For gods sakes, when you are charging $18 for 3 pancakes surely a half serve wouldn't kill you. But no, so I shared the pancakes with her and they were terrible, floury dry things. Don't bother with Ruckers Hill, their coffee may be good but their attitude makes it sour.

Went in on my own to have some breakfast and read my book over a couple of coffees. Ordered and started to read. This cafe does have good coffee and I enjoyed the food.
I finished my meal then finished my first coffee and was ready to order another and continue on with my book. Sadly, I sat for at least 10 minutes (probably longer) with a finished plate and empty coffee cup. No one come to clear the plate or ask if I'd like anything else. Decided to leave without a second coffee (plate was still on the table). Was really disappointed. It wasn't overly busy and is a small venue. Made me wonder if they purposely left me alone so that I would move on and they could turn the table over to more people to make more money.
David
Great atmosphere, friendly staff. The adjvar is great, and the coffee is decent. They also do some decent sandwiches. Making this place my regular cafe!

My favourite café in Darebin! Brilliant coffee, food is wholesome and wonderful. Have tried the beetroot cured salmon, eggs benedict, salmon benedict, lamb wrap, juices, baklava and maznik (spinach and cheese triangle) - all options are yummy! Staff are always incredibly friendly and the decor is warming. I love the subtle Macedonian infusion - makes me feel like i'm at home!
The Honest Foodie
To say my life revolves around breakfast is a huge understatement, equally is how amazing this cafe is. Welcomed with warm friendly staff, plenty of news papers around, coffee ordered and by far the best coffee to date. A single origin coffee no over the top fancy crap that leaves you longing for a Blend 43 !!

Breakfast came out and I'm blown away! I had eggs Benedict with bacon and it was perfectly cooked and normal bacon, not this thick cut hydrated, smoked crap served by restaurants more interesting in beard growing, fixed gear bikes and food presentation then quality!! And hands down my best breakfast in years, I considered rating this a 1 star to warn people to keep it from getting to busy !!

Food and coffee was absolute perfection. Nailed the tavche beans too, just like mums homemade ones. 😊 service was also quick, friendly staff and great vibe.

The cafe ticks all the boxes. Cute corner location with big windows. Good coffee and the Melbourne standard of avo and eggs on the menu. Nothing new but all completed respectfully. The space is tight and the music at the time I was there was roaring 20's jazz. I had a breakfast meal which did the job. Not next level stuff but all without error. Maybe needed some sauce to pull it altogether. Not cheap but if you want that skip down the hill to the Plaza - you will however lose all cool factor points for the day. Not a fan of the rustic tables but that's me. The bay window with a long table full of papers and magazines is a nice touch. Nothing wrong here but I'm not going bonkers over it.

Very unfriendly and rude to my kid!

Popped in there (mid week morning) while waiting for my partner who was at an appointment up to road. Enjoyed the decent coffee. Thought the babycino was overpriced and a bit crap but let that slide as my son was happily coloring and drawing with the pencils and books provided.
I was chatting to a lovely lady on the next table who also had a child who happened to be quite sedate and quiet due to being ill that day. My son was therefore competing to talk to me so was quite boisterous and loud. (No louder than the coffee machine mind you)

The owner came over and got in his face and asked him to be quiet.
I didn't make a scene as I had tried myself to encourage him to use his quiet voice repeatedly and was leaving very soon, but still thought it was rude. He's a boisterous 3 year old and shouldn't have been shamed for his loud voice and exuberance by this twit.

Not cool and not child friendly.
Stopped here for a coffee and light lunch did not disappoint. The latte was perfect - creamy with full head - and the flavour was good too. Had the avocado breakfast but it was more a tomato flavour. The piano was a nice touch too.
Jane
Dropped in for a blueberry muffin, found a friand instead. Next day came back for brunch as the menu had a few gf options and sounded yum. I had the banana bread which was delicious. Loved it. Can't wait to return to try something else.
Mel
Delicious menu with a Macedonian influence which made me feel even more at home. The wait for the food was a little lengthy but it might have been busy for the staff. Will be returning.
Crispymelbreview
Only had the coffee and will soon try the breakfast for a re-review.
The cappuccino was nice, if slightly on the warmer side.
The staff were friendly and I was attended to immediately, unlike other extremely busy cafes nearby.
The breakfast menu looks interesting and inviting.

Really enjoyable experience at Ruckers Hill. The food and coffee were amazing. I ordered the "tavche gravche" - a Macedonian inspired dish with homemade, rustic baked beans, feta, pork and leek sausage, a poached egg on sourdough. This was sooo yum, it still had a homeliness about it with a modern twist. The cafe atmosphere has a lot of "stuff" in it, and I found it a little difficult to totally relax with pot plants towering over my head, but I would go there for the food in a heartbeat!
Lisa Poppy
Absolutely adore this cafe! I've eaten here a couple of times and the food is good but the best part is the coffee is consistently good! Only critique is that they changed the pricing of the coffee (more expensive) and the sizing of the small cup (it's smaller). I actually don't mind the new size, it's actually the perfect amount for me, but it shouldn't be more expensive!
Miss P
Lovely service every single visit!

Even when Im half asleep and barely able to function Igor and the team pep me up with their friendly faces (the coffee helps too!)

Also, the foooood is amaaaaaazing! X

Awesome cafe.... Beautiful coffee 🍵😍 Recommended to all my friends, close to shops and close to tram stations and makes the best coffees in Melbourne
Megan Butterworth
Very rude. Asked for my coffee in a take away cup and was questioned by two different staff members as to why I requested this. Bad service.

Really enjoyed brunch at Ruckers Hill Cafe. There are a couple of interesting menu items, as well as the more standard meals. I tried the Bircher, and it was great. My friend had the sliced pork dish, which was also quite nice. The cafe has a cozy feel to it.
AC
Best smashed avo in Melbourne!!! And best coffee on High Street by far....

We always know that when we go to Ruckers Hill we will be met by friendly staff, quick service delicious food. A big thanks to everyone at Ruckers Hill for always looking after us and baby Isabella Ruckers Hill Cafe

Have walked past this place when it was full at least 20 times. Finally went there yesterday, and it was really good. Coffee was above average, eggs were cooked to perfection, spinach was seasoned well. The people behind the counter were friendly, especially the lady at the cashier.
Eiko.anderson
Rucker's Hill Cafe, is a tiny corner frontage, with quirky details throughout. If the food on display was anything to go by we were going to be in for a treat!
The menu had a nice size of selections but after reading the menu it all appeared to be 'safe' eggs of your choice, bacon, Benedict
Trish Humphris
First time diners. Great little cafe with a good vibe. Good service, beautiful fresh food and coffee. Would definitely go again!
Uncle Grandpa
Went to Ruckers Hill Cafe for a midweek brekkie and it hit every button required to start the day.
Good coffee - check
Good sized and tasty brekkie - check
Good staff - check
If your in the Northcote hood morning and need good coffee and top class breakfast here's your place. I highly recommend the buckwheat and quinoa pancakes - sensational.
Green Gourmet Giraffe
There wasn't much room inside so we saw on a bench outside. We ordered Zucchini and Carrot Fritters for E and Olive Cream Cheese Slice for me and Cheese Toastie for Sylvia. In keeping with the ambiance of the cafe, everything was presented beautifully with lots of colourful and healthy vegetables.
Gary
Coffee. Waited 15 minutes for two lattes today and nobody manning the coffee machine. Was told waitress didn't give barista my docket.Got a refund and had two lattes within 5 minutes at penny farthing.Poor service again and Ruckers lost two customers today.
Coffee In Melbourne
This place was a wonderful find on a beautiful casual Saturday morning. Located at 212 High Street in Northcote is a cafe which must be experienced by those who long for healthy home style savory delights. The simplistic but inviting interior may not cater for large crowds but still manages to cram in every inch of hospitality which is frightfully disappearing from the Melbourne cafe experience. Ruckers Hill Cafe prides itself on the smaller pleasures in life. Atop each table was a single leaf in a small glass jar as a centre piece. The attention to detail did not stop there as their adaption of the standard glass of water was more of the fruit infused cocktail. On the menu was a delightful array of healthy eating options which broke the mould of the mass produced repetitive breakfast menu. I had the pleasure of sampling the Eggs Atlantic and the Zucchini & Corn Rosti. Each dish was beautifully prepared and presented and left you feeling marvelously content that you had made the right
Muesliforlife
Lovely vibe. Good coffee, lovely atmosphere. Staff very friendly. We ordered simple bacon and eggs and they were cooked to perfection and came with plenty of bacon. Set in a perfect location for going for a stroll along the shops afterwards. The place isn't very big, so not the best option for groups - perfect for two people.
Gourmet John
Mildly dissapointing. Friendly staff, food was 'ok', not delicious. Weak coffee. Not up to the standard of the area nor worth the price. Very basic.

Sadly going downhill. I've been coming here for about a year now and when it gets busy the staff are stretched, but I came in for breakfast today smiled at the waiter who promptly went back to his conversation while I took a seat at a table. 10 minutes later he deigned to come over. He tried to leave straight away to get a menu even though I knew what I wanted. Did he get my order right? Nope. Did he ask if I wanted a coffee or even give me a chance to ask for one? Nope he was very eager to get back to his friend. Was it busy? Nope there were only 3 others in the cafe and that includes the friend. The food is still good but I definitely had a bad waiter today and that can colour your perceptions as to whether you come back again.

Would love to love this place as I live nearby, but I can't say I was impressed. Although the service was very friendly, it was shockingly slow. I thought maybe the waitress had forgotten about us a bit but looking around, I could see that we were all in the same boat. The coffee however was truly lovely, and the good was quite nice. Just a little disappointed.
Ajcajc
Very very impressed with my Tuesday brunch the week before. Friendly service! Loved the fruit water. And all the food- tomatoe/advocado/balsamic toast. Everyone at work was jealous of my take away saama that I had for dinner that night. Will be back soon.
Hungry Caterpillar
So so. Barista made good coffee. But service was quite slow.

2 years of the best coffee, food, and beautiful energy at this cafe! If you have not tried it, do yourself a favour. It's sooooo good!!!!!

Best Breakfast in Northcote!. I have been going here since I first moved to Northcote a couple of years ago and in all that time it has remained my all-time favourite breakfast haunt - best breakfast/lunch in northcote!
Adam
Loved it!. Friendly staff, great coffee, tasty food, reasonable prices. Wished I still lived in Northcote so I could go to this place more often.

Love Northcote and this s my fav cafe oh High Street. Been coming for a while and keep getting the sarma for lunch, the ajvar breaky and the organic yumm coffee. Keep it up guys! Ohh and the chill music...

Great coffee, Hannah nice personable service too
Kelly
Excellent coffee, best breakfast anywhere around Northcote area! Love it
Ednama
Very nice little café. I had the betroot cured salmon and was very happy with it. My friends also liked their smashed avocado and eggs benedict. Good service but the only disappointment was they charged $5 for 2 pieces of bread on the side...and the bread wasn't the freshest... Apart from this it was a good experience.
Simple Eats
Delicious!. Stopped here for a latte to take away and it was the best coffee I think I've ever had anywhere!!
The two young men working there are incredibly friendly with smiles on their faces, and they certainly put care into making good coffee.

I'd love to come back one day and try some food. Highly recommended :)

Saturday morning tradition is breakfast here with my son!! Best brecky and coffee in the area!!
Medium Rare Steak
Six perfectly poached eggs, bacon was nice and crispy, however bread was too crunchy to eat. Service was not bad. Dish lacks presentation.
There was NO smoked salmon..Disappointed. Rating 5.5 out of 10, due to presentation, price and waiting time was >30 mins, for a small cafe!
Sharyn Honey
One of the best breakfast dishes around - beetroot cured salmon on top of pea fritter with horseradish creme and diced beetroot - poached egg on top. Amazing!
Anna Clive
Gluten & Dairy free awesomeness - last time had the Ajvar this time the quinoa porridge and both were awesome. Just wish the place was bigger so we could take lots of friends
Ally
Amazing! Great food, super friendly staff & good location on high street if you wanted to go for a walk and browse the shops after eating. We will definitely be back!
Ziyad Nicolas
Yummo. Hands down the best coffee on High street Northcote. The service here is great and very friendly. Bacon and egg sandwich is quality!
Alice Gomez
Enjoyed breakfast here on my first visit to RHC this morning. I had the smoked salmon with poached eggs - done perfectly with plenty of runny yolk. The service was attentive and our coffees arrived in very good time. However, as other reviews have mentioned, there was a fair wait for the food itself, and I had already finished my coffee before it arrived. This didn't bother me though as I was prepared for a lazy, no rush brekkie. And the water provided was flavored by fresh summer fruits, a nice touch. Menu wasn't as extensive as some places, but enough to please me, and more importantly, affordable. I hope to return again soon!
Cat Winsall
45 minutes to be served our breakfast...which would have been ok I suppose if it was busy, which is wasnt. Cold hollandaise sauce, $3.50 for a side of tomato's which would be fair enough but they were canned tomato's! Not good enough guys, pick up your act...
KM
Lovely little cafe. Delicious food!
Despina Chetty
Absolutely delicious!. This cafe is a little gem in Northcote... the food is fantastic and offers both meat and vegetarian dishes with freshly squeezed juice and smooth coffee. The service is quick, and the staff are very friendly. The owner has a beautiful positive energy, constantly smiling and ready to make your lunch experience absolutely delicious.
Dr Cappucino

Melbcitydiner
Coffee was great, service excellent and food was delicious. I ordered the "Ajva" from breakfast menu and it was fantastic! Great flavours and eggs perfectly soft poached.
Toni
My weekend never starts until I've had my eggs Benedict, with bacon instead of ham and a side of spinach at Ruckers Hill. Best hollandaise I've eve, and the spinach with a hint of chilli is its perfect side kick! Amazing service and the friendliest staff you'll come across. A true Northcote gem.
Sarah
Best coffee in Nortcote..owner and staff old school customer service..great little touches..a quality food and wonderful service place a winning combo.
Woody
One of our favourite spots in Northcote. An understated little cafe with friendly and professional staff, great vegetarian options and great coffee. They very much deserve their urbanspoon rating!
Laura
Fabulous Vegie Breakfast!!. Absolutely loved my breakfast at Ruckers Hill Cafe :) I had the vegie clay pot, which was simply divine! My partner had the Ajvar w. Pork Belly, his poached eggs were cooked to perfection. Others breakfasting with us had fabulous looking meals as well, many compliments were heard all round the table. The staff & atmosphere were lovely as well ;-) I will definitely return and urge others to give this cafe a try, like another reviewer said - there is a reason they have such a high urbanspoon rating!
Cam
I Love This Cafe!!!!! The food is fresh and always beautiful. I always order the eggs Benedict w. mushrooms instead of ham (amazing), and my fella had this lovely vegetarian claypot dish-a rich tomato-y comfort breakfast...so nice to see an imaginative veg breakfast option on a menu (beans on toast anyone??). Really enjoy the coffee. Lovely staff. We had a bit of a wait for our order on Sunday morning (peak-hour, the cafe was packed) but it was no issue as staff checked on us often, keeping our water glasses full and offering second rounds of coffee while we waited. It's a HUGE call, but Ruckers Hill is probably my fav cafe in Melbourne
Glassed
GO HERE. These guys have coffee nailed where so many others are forgettable. And the vego brekkie plus the florentine eggs were OUTSTANDING. I don't think I'll wander into a better place for some time. Prices were decent, staff are cool. Some curbside seating and cosy tables within. 5 stars
Siobhan
Great Brunch. Enjoyed good coffee and great brunch on a Sunday morning. Friendly staff, small but cosy cafe. Get in before the tables run out!

Always get my lunch from here always enjoy it! Coffee is fantastic! Bubbly staff members :)
small little cafe but very cute

Delectable. I enjoyed brunch here with my boy, its so cosy and welcoming.
I had the ajvar (crushed macedonian peppers) with goats cheese, eggplant & egg on sourdough. Savoured every bite! Highly recommend for brunch or a coffee with a friend, great staff also!
Maria Marroun
Very warm and homely cafe with exceptional service! I have found my new favourite cafe.
Elisha Kmiec
Ate here this morning and was not a fan. Got the vegan breakfast with some bacon on the side. The meal has the potential to be really nice as all the flavours were there but it just wasn't up to standard. The eggplant was paper thin, there was about a coin size amount of pesto spread over my toast (why is it on the menu when there is clearly so little in the dish?), and my bacon was so overcooked. It took about half an hour for the meals when we were the only people eating. Plus my espresso was bitter and even sugar couldn't save it. Shame because I had heard such good things. Won't be heading back.

It's easy to understand how RHC enjoy such a loyal following. With Igor and Mum serving up some of the best Cafe food I've ever experienced - very highly recommended. Their Baclava is out of this world and a must have! :)
Jarrad
Eggs Benny :). Cute little cafe on High St. Very friendly service and the eggs benedict is to die for. I popped in this morning and I was even warned that I would have to wait for up to 20 mins for breakfast. As I was dinning alone I chose to stick with just the coffee, but I have to applaud staff for their honesty. Will def be back for more.

Had breakfast in this tiny but very good cafe yesterday - delicious food (loved the eggplant & pesto additions to the usual eggs on toast), great coffee, friendly service, amazing oj (apparently), & only $31 for two!! Will def be back.
