Review The Espresso Room - Northcote

Aryan Farrokhy
Easily accommodated for our group of 5. It was busy but the staff had no issue providing us with excellent table service. The food was phenomenal, we ordered; 3070 bagel, breakfast burrito, blueberry pancakes, diced avocado and bruschetta, and the san pedro. Everything tasted amazing.

My first visit. I ordered the smashed avo with egg on sourdough with some extra’s. I paid $22 for this! I know everything is more expensive but most places still under $20 with an extra egg! My friends agreed so - Won’t be back!! 😔
Anez
Delicious breakfast, buzzing atmosphere and well priced however not a 5 star review due to one older female worker ( straight brown hair shoulder length ) who was giving my sister and I dirty looks and making us feel un-welcomed and uncomfortable while eating, otherwise it would be a 5 star review!

Food was divine. The flavours in the bagel dishes were amazing. Floor staff were a bit slow.

I love this coffee shop not only for the delicious coffee and food but also for the level of service. The owners Nick and Georgia are so warm and they do anything to ensure customers are receiving the best service and best coffee. People who work here specially Natalie barista is amazing at everything she does. I recommend this place a million times over. Try the banana bread!

Beautiful staff, attentive and very friendly. Cutlery was dirty, had to be wiped. Chicken burger was delicious and the chips were very good, nice and crispy. The “keep it clean” dish was large and cooked well. Eggs and bacon were done perfectly. Halloumi was delicious, but the toast was way too hard and difficult to cut and steamed greens were too tough to eat. The ricotta hot cakes were delicious, one big hot cake. Big serving and loved the presentation! Iced coffee was pretty average, not amazing but not bad. I enjoyed it. Almond latte was perfect. I’d come back if I was in the area but I would probably just stick to the coffee.

Beautiful Café with plenty of space and beautiful outdoor seating. The staff are always happy to go above and beyond and always find time to have a friendly conversation with customers. 10/10 on the food and 11/10 on the coffee.. truly the best café I have ever attended! Will be a regular from here on out.

Not really a breakfast person but love espresso room!! No matter what I order, the food always tastes great! My go to cafe for breakfast/brunch! The service from Alex and the team is always fantastic aswell :)

Everything about the espresso room just makes you keep wanting to come back day after day because it is that good! Love the place so much!!

I have been coming to this cafe for around a year now and I have honestly fallen in love with the place. Everytime I order they make sure it comes out exactly how I want it and if things do go wrong they do whatever they can to fix the problem.
Georgia is the biggest angel and I love seeing her on my morning coffee run.
Keep up the good work guys :)

Coffee is good and consistent. Ambience is ideal. Quality and well priced. My favourite place on the strip.

A family favourite!! Staff are welcoming, quick service and happy to make recommendations. Large proportions and well priced food for Northcote. Would highly recommend checking out the broad breaky menu

The food here blew my mind! Was definitely very different to usual brunch places. I absolutely loved their superfood salad and protein pancakes.

A CAFE THAT SUITS EVERYONES TASTEBUD!

We came here on a Saturday afternoon and what really impressed us how unique the place was with an amazing range of dishes available!

VENUE
Situated on a corner street, we were impressed at how spacious the area is without compromising on the warmth and ambience of the place. It even has an alfresco area that is shaded which is perfect for that outdoor dining. The venue was decorated with intriguing murals, prints and antique pieces all throughout the venue!

FOOD & MENU
We were so impressed with what was on offer in the menu. With an all day breakfast and lunch option available, you can order whatever you feel like! An intensive range of breakfast menu, a lunch menu that has atleast 6 salad options and a range of burger, sandwiches and souvlakis- there really is something for everyone and the perfect place for people who love options! Even better is how reasonable the prices are with the large portions!
We ordered the:
CALAMARI SALAD- we cannot rave enough with how absolutely perfection this was. Calamari was cooked perfectly and loved the beetroot and the crispy sliced loukaniko sausage in this.

BUTTERMILK PANCAKES- such a pretty dish but more importantly it was stacked with two thick hotcakes which was soft, fluffy and moist. It was so delicious with the mixed berries and the maple syrup!

HASH TANGO- A classic smashed avo dish with a twist of salmon and hashbrowns and it was so yummy! We were so spoilt with the amount of salmon on this dish! Definet breakfast winner!

Customer service was spot on and could not be faulted! We would definitely return as there were plenty more dishes we would have loved to have tried!

Food was great, the smoked salmon hash with hollandsise was my favourite sooooo yummy! Service super friendly as well.

Such a tasty and filling breakfast, eggs cooked just right. Could eat this everyday and happy to of found somewhere new in Northcote to eat 🙌🏼

Now this was a great surprise! A modern cafe with a fantastic menu to compliment it too.

Our delicious lunch started with coffees, both the latte and short mac were on point with a great smooth strong coffee flavour.

I enjoyed the delicious calamari salad which was not only a very generous serve but also packed full of flavour comprising beetroot and loukaniko sausage.

We also ordered the juicy beef burger and chips and my friend savoured every bite. Great flavours indeed.

The freshly squeezed juices (apple orange, celery, carrot) also went down a treat.

The cafe offers a few tables with power points making it a great option if you need to log on. There is also plenty of parking at the nearby shopping centre. We will be back!

Thanks for the invite.

Quick friendly service! Such a great little cafe with amazing coffee. I will definitely be adding this to my regular weekend coffee and brunch spots.
A disappointing experience after reading positive reviews. The food was good although eggs were way too big. Coffee was a 3/5. Apathetic service. Sounds bad but wasn't. Effort being put into the food and it was good, just not so well thought through. Baristas that kept tapping their milk jugs with a spoon unbelievably annoying. Wait times longer than expected.

Ohhh! Don’t get me started!

We loved the food here. The fritters were crispy on the outside, with plenty of flavour on the inside. Eggs were poached perfectly across the board. Lots of textures and flavours, which kept the food interesting and flavourful - LOVE!

I was a BIG fan of the Green Salad Bowl, it was full of perfectly roasted mushrooms, feta, crispy kale that was perfectly seasoned, avocado, beetroot, roasted pumpkin and a perfectly poached egg - a very happy girl indeed!

My green smoothie was perfectly balanced and refreshing, and the OJ was freshly squeezed - the best kind.

The service was quick, and the waiters were so lovely!
I can’t wait to go back and try more of their menu.
The servings are so generous that you won’t go home unsatisfied - A MUST TRY!
Melbourne Pancakes
I had an amazing time at espresso room in Northcote! Walking in, we were immediately greeted by the friendly staff and were in awe at the industrial style interior and wall art!

We ordered a coffees to start with, the pancakes and the Mediterranean eggs.
The eggs were piled high and packed with so much flavour, and the pancakes were some of the thickest and fluffiest I’ve ever eaten! They also had a really nice taste to them, and even though they were really thick, they weren’t dry which was great.
We ended our meal with an Oreo and Nutella freak shake which really hit the spot! So chocolatey 😍😍

All in all, a really great cafe with good vibes, food and hospitality!
Chivy C
Beautiful little cafe! So many menu options for both breakfast and lunch, it was almost too hard to choose! Great food and fast attentive service. Love that they offer alternative milk options as well! Highly recommend the protein pancakes

Service is okay. Food is okay. The arvo smash had hash brown through it which wasn’t bad but was odd...the piece cut in half on top of it would have been enough. Eggs poached well. The chilli scramble was also nice.

Really enjoyable experience - great sized meals for the price and quality. I had scrambled eggs on toast with a coffee. The Coffee was great and the service was friendly and warm. For a busy Saturday afternoon the meal came out quickly. these guys are great.

Today I visited Espresso Room Northcote and was in love with the dark, cosy vibes this cafe offered. It was also nice and warm which was perfect as the Wintery wind was blowing!

We ate the Brioche french toast, the pancakes and the superfood bowl with added chicken!

I am usually a pancake queen (and yes, the pancakes were great) however, I was obsessed with the superfood salad. The flavours were mouthwatering and well balanced.

The pancakes were, as you would imagine decadently dressed with syrup and honeycomb. I was a little disappointed with the french toast as it was dry and lacked flavour.

We also ordered the Oreo freakshake which was absolutely amazing.

All in all, a great local cafe.

Espresso Room is a cosy cafe in the heart of Northcote. Open for 8 years and still going, it’s a popular spot for brunch that is loved by the locals.

We visited recently to try their new menu. They have an extensive list of breakfast and lunch options, and a lunch specials board. We decided on the Buttermilk Pancakes, Zucchini Ricotta and Corn Fritters, and the Cartoccio de Pesce.

The Zucchini Ricotta and Corn Fritters were served as two huge, plump fritters. They were fluffy and flavourful. It was topped with plenty of avocado for moisture and almond flakes for crunch. The only thing I could point out was that the eggs were overcooked, so the yolks were not runny, which was a shame as I think the runny yolk would have made the dish!

The Cartoccio de Pesce was a unique dish that I thought I’d give a try, and I’m so glad I did! It’s almost like a seafood shakshuka, with a more soup-y consistency. There’s plenty of prawns, calamari, scallops, mussels and even a salmon fillet. It was hearty and warming, but not too heavy either. It’s a very popular dish there and I’d highly recommend trying it!

The Buttermilk Pancakes were divine, so fluffy and soft! I loved the freshness of the berries and the raspberry infused mascarpone which wasn’t too heavy. The maple glaze wasn’t overly sweet either. A hot tip - add a scoop of ice cream - you won’t regret it!

I also had a Pineapple No-jito which was very refreshing. I love anything tropical, and this was the perfect drink to go with our brunch.

The staff are also extremely friendly and welcoming too. I would definitely recommend checking Espresso Room out if you’re in the area!

Thank you so much for having us!

Love this place! Lovely staff, excellent coffee and the best sliders. And they remember our coffee order! The staff is amazingly friendly and efficient. Highly recommend!

This place has changed the cafe scene in all of Northcote and all of Melbourne... the food has Mediterranean tones to its food, also sells lots of charcuterie and other gourmet goodies within the cafe. Smoothies were super amazing and well presented in super tall glasses. I have to say this about their coffee ... their own blend and seriously one of the best I have had, smooth undertones and just the perfect blend.
If you haven't been here yet, are you even living in Melbourne ?

Espresso Room is located nearby a supermarket so you never have to worry about finding a parking spot, which is always a selling point for me.
Here for brunch we had:
- French Toast
- Cured pork cheek
- Grilled atlantic salmon
- Flatwhite
- Berry licious smoothie
The french toast came with bacon on the side and drenched in maple syrup, and the combo surprisingly worked out quite well. The cured pork cheek was wrapped around the asparagus and the dish was nice and light and tasty. And the salmon was cooked to perfection.
Thoroughly enjoyed the 3 dishes and would be happy coming back for more!
Pinch Of Bacon
The staff here are friendly but unfortunately the food lets the place down. The food lacks flavour and was very disappointing. The drinks were also a bit of a let down. My hot chocolate was cold and too weak. Will give this one a miss next time we are looking to go out for breakfast.

Such a unique, quirky little space in Northcote. I haven’t seen an interior quite like it. It almost has old school deli vibes. Anyway, it was really cool.
The people were so lovely and the menu was insane. So much to chose from. So many good specials.
The banana & blueberry bread was a highlight for sure! The nuttiness and fruitiness of the bread, paired with the creamy mascarpone was a dream.
Can’t wait to come back and try the French Toast 🙊
Melanie (ForeverBrunching)
Nice meal at The Espresso Room.

The interior had a lot of ‘Day of the Dead’ vibes, which gave the space great character. Lots of plants were scattered around the cafe which was nice.

I had a nice flat white with almond milk.
The food was yummy. I was quite surprised when the granola came out it was already covered in a lot of milk. I usually add milk to granola, but not to this extent as I liked to keep some of it dry for crunch. The flavour of the granola was sweet, with nice fresh fruit.
The protein pancake was dense & also sweet. Topped with nice fresh fruit & some maple syrup.

The service was really nice & the food came out quite quickly which was great.

Another one of Melbournes homely cafes that isn’t too over the top with its surroundings and its atmosphere.

The staff were ace, super helpful and friendly, we even got a free muffin when leaving due to a slight mishap on the food. Very good customer service.

Upon arrival we were given water and breads with oil, vinegar and cheese. I liked that touch I really did.

I ordered the chicken skewer salad with an egg and mushrooms. You get three skewers which is plenty on a big bed of rocket, onions, fennel, tomatoes with a slight dressing. It was a big portion, a good size for a salad and I really approved. My egg poached perfectly and the mushrooms were ace.

The food mishap had nothing to do with taste, they brought me the lamb skewers first time round instead of chicken. They re did the whole dish for me, (I did offer to just have the skewers changed) which was so lovely and once again that bit of customer care goes a long way!

My buddy had the linguine pasta. It was full of seafood like calamari and prawns! Once again a hefty size portion!

If you are sick of fancy over the top brunches and want a tasty good sized meal. Espresso room is definitely for you!

9/10

I really enjoyed my meal at The Espresso Room in Northcote. It’s on the quieter end of High Street and looks a little unassuming from the outside, but it’s super cosy and nice inside. The staff were really friendly and we got a window seat (to people watch) and had two coffees in our hands in just a couple of minutes!

It was a little hard to choose what to eat as the menu is very extensive, and most things looked great. We ended up with the French toast (with berries) and absolutely loved it. The haloumi and corn fritters were very filling and tasty, but the standout was the special of the day - a caramelised fog & haloumi with pesto on Turkish bread. All in all, really good food, great coffee and the friendly staff made us feel nice and comfortable. I would definitely recommend giving them a go for a nice brunch.
Lee Chan’s Cravings
A rustic cafe offering breakfast, lunch and awesome coffee. I had the seafood linguine that was full of fresh seafood. This is always a pleasant surprise, I’ve ordered too many seafood pastas with frozen morsels of mussels and shrimp. Pasta was perfectly al dente with juicy plump prawns, tender calamari and sweet mussels. Their buttermilk pancakes drenched in maple syrup glaze, mixed berries, coco crunch was suppose to be with mascarpone but we swapped it for vanilla ice cream and it was the best decision. Pancakes were super fluffy and I’m now obsessed with maple syrup glaze. 🥞🍳🍝

I had a great experience at Espresso Room in Northcote!

I love the décor, menu design, and overall feel and vibe of the place. Super cool! The service was excellent too.

There weren't many vegan options, however I ordered a veggie breaky with some amendments. My plate consisted of toast, avocado, grilled tomato, sautéed greens and hash browns. It was super satisfying and full of flavour. Those hash browns were cooked to perfection!

I also tried the cold drip Proud Mary coffee. Of course it was delicious!

Recently visited this cafe in Northcote. I’ll start with our coffees which not only looked amazing but were spot on in taste.
We shared 3 dishes. The pumpkin halloumi fritters were tasty with veggie chunks that you could. The serving comes with a good portion of bacon. Only thing I’d say is the halloumi could have been more dominant.
The hot cakes were incredibly fluffy and topped with a lovely raspberry marscapone. We also had the butcher muesli which was strong with orange flavor and very filing.
Servings here are generous and tasty. You definitely won’t leave feeling hungry.

I had to give up coffee for a couple of weeks... all I was thinking about was when I could have my next coffee from here... Best coffee in northcote 👌👌👌

The perfect Saturday afternoon enjoying some autumn sunshine & a delicious spread. We couldn’t go without ordering a coffee from The espresso room & we were not disappointed. A large cafe with plenty of seating ideally located on the Main Street with plenty of parking. We ordered the grilled salmon, vegetarian breakfast & hotcakes, along with a berry smoothie which was the perfect Saturday afternoon spread. I would have loved a better salad with my salmon, rocket, red onion and a mound of hummus wasn’t quite as refreshing as I would have liked. The hotcakes were amazing super fluffy and delicious. The berry smoothie was refreshing and a large portion size. The staff were lovely & very accommodating. Will definitely be back again, a lovely weekend location.

I really enjoyed my brunch experience here 😍

The cafe was very spacious and we picked a spot right near the windows. We started off with detox and berry smoothie- Both were super fresh and I definitely felt rejuvenated after that detox 😛

We ordered the big brekky, pancakes and the hash tango. (I really wanted to try the fritters but I think they were out of this unfortunately)

The big brekky portion was so big - definitely worth ordering if you are a fan of those classic brekky items. The smashed avo was also super fresh and the smoked salmon was a great addition. Also my eggs were poached perfectly 👌🏼 I can’t get over how good those pancakes were ! They were seriously so fluffy and the fresh berries and syrup made it the perfect dish - would 100% recommend this!

Northcote has become a mecca for great cafes, and they don't get much better than the Espresso Room. Located in a great corner location on a very busy road, this bustling spot has heaps of room and loads of character. There is plenty of seating indoors and out, and a friendly vibe from the staff who are lovely and welcoming. The menu has lots of interesting items and there are also daily specials which all sounded fantastic.

We started with the corn and zucchini fritters. These were enormous, almost like savoury pancakes; and they were absolutely amazing. Sandwiched with creamy avocado and crispy bacon, they were a savoury delight. The texture was surprisingly light, with just the right amount of seasoning.

The pancake stack was equally huge and also divine. Big, fat, fluffy pancakes with loads of fruit, syrup and cream... every mouthful was a treat. I loved the cake like consistency of these pancakes, and the tang of the berries went so well with the sweet syrup.

With fantastic coffee and delicious, healthy smoothies; you are guaranteed not to leave Espresso Room hungry. The menu also caters for the health conscious with lots of lighter alternatives. There is also a great selection of cakes, pastries and sandwiches if you are after something quick. Chances are though, that once you find yourself a seat, you will want to settle in here for a while. With a cafe packed full of locals, it's clear that they know a great place when they see it. If you are in the Northcote area, I would definitely recommend paying them a visit or two.

Can’t believe I have only just tried Espresso Room now after living nearby for so long! Espresso Room is in a great location on High St Northcote. It’s located on the corner with plenty of outdoor seating on both sides, and plenty of indoor seating too. Staff were polite and friendly, and very helpful.

I ordered a chai latte, the Rejuvinating smoothie, and then I made my own breakfast! The chai and smoothie were both so delicious, I couldn’t fault either. The perfect berry/banana balance in the smoothie, and the delicious spiciness of the chai.

We then ordered the Buttermilk Pancakes and Scrambled Eggs with a number it sides. Starting with the Pancakes - YUM - these were some of the best we’ve ever had. They really were drenched in maple syrup - which I LOVE. We couldn’t get enough.

My self-made dish was an absolute highlight...just what the doctor ordered, and I was impressed by the number or extras to choose from - it was hard to pick! I ended up going with scrambled eggs with greens, avocado, hash brown, mushrooms and bacon (basically, my own DIY big breakfast). I was super impressed with the generosity of the the eggs and sides. The bacon was cooked to perfection - perfectly grilled and only the short cut part, which is a must for me. And I tell you what, those hash browns rivalled the ones from Macca’s. Seriously delish.

We enjoyed our experience so much, and can’t wait to come back! Thankyou for having us!

We had visited The Espresso Room a couple of months back and here’s what we had!

Sliders - we had the fried chicken and haloumi sliders separately and both were impressively delicious! Think of them like mini burgers which had lots of yummy flavors!

Hash tango - crushed avocado, broken hash brown, shredded salmon, chili and dill, served on toast with two poached eggs! This was a creative dish as you can see from the photo! Taste wise it was pretty good - all ingredients were fresh and flavors worked well together!

Pumpkin, zucchini and haloumi fritters - two thick fritter patties served with crushed avocado, grilled bacon, loukaniko sausage, mushrooms, hash towns and super greens! Be warned this is a very filling dish! The fritters were thick and yummy at the start with all the flavors working together but were unfortunately drier towards the end.

Buttermilk pancakes - drenched in maple glaze, mixed berries, vanilla bean mascarpone cheese, and cocoa crunch crust! This not only looked fantastic but was also super yummy! The thickness, fluffiness and sweetness of the pancakes went well with the creaminess of the vanilla bean mascarpone cheese and flavors of the berries! Everything just melted in your mouth and made sense hence why it was my fave for the day!

Overall, we had a good experience at The Espresso Room and would visit again to try the rest of their menu!

I visited Espresso Room in Northcote with a couple of my friends and we ordered quite a bit. Overall we had a good experience with food and service with one particularly dish I didn’t quite enjoy. The smoothies were delicious and serving was generous. The hotcakes we had was one of the best hotcakes Ive had; super fluffy and also presented beautifully. The sliders were also incredible! The only let down was the stacked fritters we had which was dry, dense and flavourless. I had one bite in which none of us finished. Such a shame as everything else were amazing and we were really excited when it came out as it looked beautiful. Thanks for having us.

Went to Espresso Room for breakfast with a friend on a Saturday morning and it was a nice big corner cafe with plenty of space.

We ordered:

Protein Pancake- Mixed with egg whites, healthy rolled oats, crunchy peanut butter, cooked in coconut oil, topped with berries and banana, finished with a glaze of honey, passionfruit yoghurt and fresh berries.

Eggs on Hash- Crispy hash browns, topped with melted tasty cheese, smoked salmon, fresh spinach, fresh tomato, two poached eggs, finished with Hollandaise.

French Toast- French Toast with berries, sweet mascarpone, maple syrup and bacon with dehydrated banana.

For drinks, we ordered the Nutella Oreo freak shake and the Beetroot Latte.

My Eggs on Hash dish had a choice of sauce and I got the Hollandaise one over Pesto or Dukkha. Eggs are on point with the poaching! Beautiful runny egg yolk all over the hash browns and smoked salmon. The hash browns were very crunchy and soft on the inside which was great, however, it was a bit too salty and when matched with the smoked salmon, it was actually too salty for my liking.

The French toast was great, it looked amazing when it came out - crunchy and fluffy on the inside! It was interesting when this was a sweet dish and came with all the berries and mascarpone and then there were bacon pieces. Balanced out the flavours with salty and sweet though. This was a huge dish and we couldn't finish it.

My friend got the Protein Pancake and it was a very delicate-looking dish. You can see the amount of detail on it with all the garnishes, toppings and it was huge! I had a taste and the texture was a bit dense, and somewhat reminded me of a Muffin texture.

My freak shake came with whipped cream and oreo on top and on the side. It was really nice, but got a bit sweet as more Nutella/chocolate in the drink was mixed in. My friend got a beetroot latte and she said it was soo good!

Thank you Espresso Room!

It’s not hard to understand why Espresso Room was bustling with the locals of Northcote.
With a seemingly endless, internationally inspired menu that’s bound to satisfy any craving. We found their more than generous portion sizes coupled with quality, top notch ingredients made it a very satisfying feed, and top it off with top notch coffee, its a great stop for some comfort food for sure!

This is a Greek Cafe on the north side of High Street. This cafe was buzzing with locals and visitors alike.

I like the fact that you can sit wherever you want, rather than being directed where to sit making it more personable.

My piccolo latte was excellent, with a nice flavour.

For brunch I had the special, which was haloumi, fig and pesto sauce. This was Turkish bread, topped w haloumi, poached eggs, caramelised figs and basil pesto! OMGosh how delicious was this dish. Absolutely amazing and for those with a natural sweet tooth this is the dish for you! Hahaha

My partner had a strong latte which was really good and for brunch a Hash Tango. This was smashed avacado, smoked salmon, hash browns, lemon vinaigrette, chilli oil, toast, 2 poached eggs and fresh lemon.

I tried this dish and it was fantastic, so fresh and full of flavour! This place was absolutely rocking and it’s no surprise why. Everything was awesome, and this Greek style cafe is definitely worth a visit.

Thanks to the owners for the opportunity to visit this cafe.

Another highlight of my Melbourne Northside brunches of 2019 comes from The Espresso Room in Northcote! Part of the suite of cafes from No.19, Pinkie and St Rose, just to name a few – The Espresso has a really rustic and old-school trendy interior that has persisted through time, complete with a deli section at the back and a cool windmill strung up to the ceiling. Another hot tip is definitely make sure you order a coffee here, I tried the soy magic (double ristretto) from the Espresso Room and it was such a gorgeous, silky coffee!

Love how spacious this cafe is and the upbeat music that plays in the background. The cafe was quite busy and the service was so so. We waited about 20 minutes before a nice waiter noticed we had to order.

Drinks:

The iced coffee was okay.

Wake me up smoothie has a nice blend of banana、 maple、 cinnamon and muesli for texture but was rather icy but refreshing for a hot day.

Mains:

Ordered the buttermilk pancakes which were bigger than expected. Fluffy and thick、the dish is presented well. Overall nice flavour but not enough syrup for the pancakes and marscapone was kind of bland.

Chicken skewer salad was okay. Mainly rocket but a combination of savoury yet zesty taste. The chicken is well charred.

I had the opportunity to visit Espresso Room Northcote as a Collaboration recently. I love how spacious this Cafe is! It has indoor and outdoor seating. We ordered the Buttermilk Pancakes, Big Breakky & The Halloumi, egg and figs on toast with pesto which was only available as a special. The serving were very generous! My husband is a big eater and he struggled to finish the big breakfast which was great! He loved it. I was left to alternate between the pancakes and my breakfast which both tastes great, I really loved the fluffy pancakes they were cooked perfectly!. Overall I would definitely be back with the family it was a great environment and fairly busy. I recommend to make a booking incase especially on the weekends.

We were kindly invited to have brunch at The Espresso Room. We chose a really hot Sunday arvo to go, and I was very relieved when we were seated straightaway and my berry smoothie came out very quickly after I ordered it. It was sweet, refreshing and icy cold.
The menu is really long and it was quite hard to decide what to order because everything sounded good (plus they had a few specials on), but we ended up ordering the buttermilk pancakes, the hash tango and the pumpkin and halloumi fritters.
The hash tango was a good dish as every element was executed well, though it was really just scrambled eggs with chilli jam, hashbrowns and smashed avocado on top of toast with smoked salmon on the side.
The fritters though were pretty, delicious and crispy and of course the yolk poured out of that perfectly poached egg when cut into.
The pancakes were the star of the brunch - they were beautifully presented and tasted amazing. The pancakes were fluffy, the berries added a nice sourness to the dish and huge was of berry mascarpone was so light and so delicious. It wasn’t overly sweet at all which was great.
All in all a great place for brunch, the servings are very generous and everything is under $20. The waitress who served us was very friendly and attentive. Thank you The Espresso Room for the invite :)
Hello. Imnikki
4.5

The Espresso Room doesn't attract much of a second glance if you're driving or walking past but it will be your loss if you don't stop and make your way inside. The moody and quirky setup inside belies its casual and neighbourly charm.

Usually I gravitate towards sweets on the menu, but the savoury options here definitely seduced me over to the dark side. The pumpkin and halloumi fritters arrived in the form of a sexy stack of said fritters, bacon, avo spread and topped with a poached egg. The fritters were denser than normal with the addition of halloumi, but still soft inside and passed the crunchy outer layer test. The finishing touch of spicy sweet corn and capsicum salsa lent an overall zesty piquancy to the dish.

My partner went for the Eggs on Hash, and those crispy hash browns with melted cheese on top sure does not disappoint. The nutty and sharp flavours of the pesto sauce enhanced the subtle smokiness of the salmon, and also the bright fresh flavours of the spinach and tomatoes. The eggs were perfectly poached, with runny and oozy yolks.

It may sound silly for not ordering an espresso or coffee of any sort at a cafe with the word "espresso" so prominent in its name, but Melbourne's current weather calls for a smoothie. It was a good thing too that we went for the smoothies, as the Anti-Inflammatory (mango, banana, turmeric) and Berrylicious were so refreshingly fruity and tasty.

With an extensive brekky and lunch menu, The Espresso Room is bound to be able to please eveeyone. Thank you for inviting me in!

This place has a very friendly vibe to it, the coffee is really great and the food is wonderful, you have to try the eggs with halloumi and figs dish..its exotic and amazing!!

Such a amazing cafe with great food. I only have good things to say!! The staff were extremely friendly and on the ball and the food is definitely up there with the top cafes in Melbourne. Great set out and location too.

I've visited Espresso Room once for a coffee, but my second visit for food really cemented my love for this place. It's got a charming, old-school vibe with school chairs, Italian food products and little knick-knacks decorating the space. The soy flat white they prepared for me was one of the best coffees I've had in a while, with such nice crema and perfectly frothed milk. Their Mediterranean-inspired menu is so large, it was tough to settle on "just" three dishes, but I managed to do it. I knew I couldn't pass up the protein pancakes, as I'm a sucker for any healthy sweet brekkie dish. They're served as one large cake made with oats, fruit, egg white and coconut oil. They're super filling and satisfy that sweet tooth without being too intense.

I was also tempted by the fig and halloumi special, served on Turkish toast with two pesto poached eggs. Oh my god, this dish is heaven. It's a bit sweet which overwhelms the saltiness of the halloumi, but the pesto helps to rebalance the dish. It is very rich, making me glad I settled on the healthy salad bowl as the last addition to my spread. The bowl is full of steamed quinoa, fresh and roasted veg, avo, and the tastiest hummus ever. It's topped with a sesame-coated poached egg which gives the dish substance.

Espresso Room is the kind of cafe that you can trust will deliver on consistently good food and coffee alike. I wish it wasn't so far from my house, otherwise it would surely be a local.

Not only to they live up to their name with some damn good coffee, but they also serve delicious food! We had the buttermilk pancakes, and these were amazing! So light and flavour, full of flavour and presented beautifully! The Zucchini and Halloumi Fritters are delicious, and super packed with lots of flavours! Then we had the Eggs San Pedro, the perfect Sunday breakfast! Recommend to give this place a try!
Good Food Good Mood
We were invited to Espresso Room yesterday a warm and welcoming cafe with an extensive menu. I was pleased to see a protein pancake on the menu in addition to a naughty standard pancake and whilst I would have been intrigued to try both to compare I went for the healthier rendition.

This is a great option, quite a dense texture but the banana gave it a wonderful natural sweetness satisfying that sugar craving in a nutritional way. Hubby got a salad from which I poached the smoked salmon and beautifully seasoned roasted tomato which were both very yummy.

I had really wanted to try bruschetta eggs which are listed on the uploaded menu here but they were no longer on the cafe menu itself. Instead I got the smashed avocado which was an extremely generous serving and went spectacularly with the aforementioned stolen salmon. I also tried a mango turmeric smoothie which was delish. Definitely worth checking out

The Espresso Room has been a local favourite for years, and it was evident when I walked in at 930am on a Saturday morning (for me, that’s quite early).
The cafe was surprisingly busy, with almost half the tables being occupied. Taking up a large chunk of street corner, the café also has sidewalk dining, which is perfect on sunny days.
Inside, the aromas of coffee and the sizzle of the grill filled the room. The centre of the room felt a little dim, but the tables next to the windows had a lot of natural lighting.

They pride themselves with in-house roasted coffee, so I start with a strong latte which is pretty well balanced and on the chocolatey side.

• The Big Breakfast – can’t go wrong with a classic big breakfast, and each element was well executed. Crisp hashbrowns, nicely sautéed kale and the loukaniko pork sausage had good flavour!

• Hash Tango – nice pieces of crisp hashbrown used as a base. I chose the eggs to be scrambled, which was well done – just set and not overly cooked. The pesto sauce was a very tasty alternative to a heavy hollandaise.

• Protein Pancakes – Well presented with the obligatory edible flower or two. I liked getting a hit of soft caramelised banana. You don’t get that specific taste of protein you usually get from powder. The pancakes itself was mostly a base of oats, which naturally, if you leave it too long it will become very dense.

Being a newbie to the area, for me, the general feeling of the café is that it was popular back in the mid-00s and is keeping up with food trends, while also keeping loyal customers happy.
Thank you to the team for inviting me to experience the cafe!

Delicious food! This large cafe in Northcote has it all! Extensive menu so there is something for everyone! The sliders were the dish of the day!

I visited the espresso room the other day and why struck me first was all the lovely outdoor seating! It’s on a corner, so the tables go right around. Perfect if you want to bring your four legged friend to brunch!
We tried the Buttermilk pancakes and we were very impressed! Two thick pancakes but light and fluffy at the same time. Yum. The Fresh fruit gave it a fresh flavour and the Berry infused mascarpone were a perfect touch.
The Eggs San Pedro was a simple dish but it hit the spot. Hash browns, tomato, bacon, avocado, poached eggs, a hearty breakfast!
Good service too and I think I’ll be back for that French toast special!
Thanks for having us!

I loved everything about this place! Menu is very Mediterranean which being a Greek I love! I couldn't fault a thing. I loved every dish I tried. Presentation and flavours were amazing. The French toast was well balanced, not overly sweet which is great! The haloumi & fig pesto should defs be on the menu because it's seriously so good! The combination of those flavours worked so well! The figs weren't overly sweet so complimented the dish quite well and of course the scrambled eggs with loukaniko (sausage) was delicious. I need to go back and try more because there's so much to choose from but I know that even next time I won't be disappointed.

Haloumi Fig & Pesto with Turkish toast, haloumi, poached eggs, caramelized figs, basil pesto
$17.50

French Toast with Berries, sweet mascarpone, maple & bacon
$16.5

Mediterranean Scramble Eggs with chopped tomato, Spanish onion, red peppers, olives, fresh chilli, scrambled with eggs, finished with crumbled marinated feta & olive oil, served on toast
$17.50
With loukaniko (sausage) $19.50

3.5/5 The all-day breakfast and lunch menu is quite comprehensive, ranging from breakfast staples to sliders and more substantial dishes. There’s a fair bit of seafood in the Seafood Paella, and we discover prawns, scallops and calamari amongst the pork sausage. The rice has a nice flavour, and

Espresso Room sits on the corner of a modern apartment building on High street Northcote, an area that has seen some real cafe gems in recent years. Quite dark on the inside but with an eclectic charm and cabinet options out the door Espresso Room also offers an amazing long
Menu with lots of nice sounding items that made it hard to choose. This morning we started with coffees at Espresso room and I wasn’t disappointed, my strong almond latte was exceptional, the House blend coffee was rich creamy and with no trace of bitterness. We also ordered a detox juice, which was vivid green due to its ingredients of spinach, kale, apple, mint and cucumber, it was pleasantly refreshing and had a wonderful subtle mint after taste. You wouldn’t guess it was so healthy.

For brunch today we opted for the Linguine marinara, the perfectly cooked seafood was served in a generous sized portion of pasta with subtle garlic and chili and white wine. Perfect for those that don’t want an overload of garlic.

We also ordered eggs on hash crispy hash browns topped with melted tasty cheese, smoked salmon, fresh spinach, fresh tomato and two poached eggs, we opted for the hollandaise sauce but you could also choose pesto or dukkha. The inclusion of fresh spinach and sliced tomato kept this dish fresh and cut through the richness of the dish. The hash brown and smoked salmon was the perfect combination of flavours and texture for mopping up the runny yolk and the rich hollandaise.

For dessert we opted for the Buttermilk pancakes for our brunch dessert. The pancakes arrived with some slight tweaks to as described on the menu but this didn’t detract from our enjoyment. Pancakes were drenched in maple glaze, with a blueberry infused mascarpone, fresh berries and crumbled crunchie. It was not only a delicious combination of flavours but these light and fluffy pancakes had the perfect texture, not cake, not donut, but somewhere in between. Yummmmm.

Thanks so much for inviting us in.

Was invited to The Espresso Room over the long weekend for breakfast and really enjoyed the atmosphere of the cafe. It has a warm and inviting feel to it and the staff were very friendly on arrival and throughout.

I ordered the protein pancake and the rejuvenating smoothie. The protein pancake was huge! It was also quite dense so it was very filling especially with all the toppings and I only managed to finish half of it, however it was so good that I got the other half put in a doggy bag to go! The rejuvenating smoothie was nice but the honey was very overpowering so I couldn’t really taste anything else.

My partner ordered the Eggs San Pedro which is basically just Eggs Benedict and he inhaled it pretty quickly so I’d say that’s a good sign (couldn’t even get a photo of it before he started digging in). He also ordered an almond milk cappuccino which he said was quite strong, and unfortunately upon leaving realised it wasn’t actually almond milk that he received but regular milk... so his lactose intolerant gut was a bit crook.

Overall a good eating experience and would recommend checking out The Espresso Room next time you’re in Northcote!
Rated 3.25 but rounded to 3 for the purposes of Zomato.

Invited out to Northcote once again for brunch. The Espresso Room is nestled in the middle of brunch central so the bar was set quite high as were my expectations. Read on to see how it faired compared to the rest!. First up, it is such a huge space with a lot of character to it. I appreciated that it wasn’t your average modern eatery, airing on the side of homeliness and comfort with a lot of knick knacks around the place. It brought a family feel to it and with a great outdoors area I wouldn’t hesitate to bring a family and a dog down here to hang out on a beautiful day. With all this came a local friendliness to regulars which was great but didn’t extend to visitors like myself, which was unfortunate after such a great impression on entering.
Bites Of Melbourne
I lived not for from this cafe for a year and never visited and I’m not sure why as the service here was great. Good coffee.m and my breakfast was delicious! We ate one meal from the set menu and one from the specials board!
Glad I finally visited as we will be back!!!

I really enjoyed my protein pancakes. My daughter had the pumpkin & halloumi fritters which were healthy and delicious! If you happen to just go in for a coffee I seriously recommend. Their coffee is fresh and they make their own blends which is awesome! Please note that their meals are a generous size serving for what you pay which is great. The staff were also so helpful and very quick service.

Popped by the other weekend for brunch and tried their pancakes, corn fritters and smashed avo! For drinks we got their cold drip coffee which came in a really cute little bottle and their anti-inflammatory smoothie. My fave would have to be their pancakes which were super fluffy! I love how generous they are with their portions for each dish, even the smoothie was more than enough for 2 people to share!

We braved the heat on Monday morning and adventured out to Northcote, for brunch, at Espresso Room.

A gorgeous shop front and huge sign indicating their location (that we somehow managed to walk straight past), they have a huge selection of tables in side and a few smaller tables outside. We chose to sit inside, where it was cold. We accompanied the air con with some iced lattes, which were excellent!

We ordered 3 dishes to share: the San Pedro (their take on a lux Eggs Benedict), the sweet hot cakes and the pumpkin & halloumi fritters. All three dishes were absolutely massive. Well worth their price tag.

My friend at the San Pedro and said it was delicious. English muffins, hash browns, bacon, grilled tomato, poached eggs & hollandaise, What isn't to like? Hash browns in any dish make it an instant winner in my books.

I had the fritters, and was unable to finish it. I tucked in to the top fritter with my poached egg on top and left the second fritter untouched. Wasn't a fan on the huge chunks of spanish onion hidden underneath, but WAS a fan on the massive amount of smashed avo that came with this dish. The fritters were lovely and puffy, but a wee bit dry - the avocado fixed this problem though. The egg was poached to perfection.

We shared the sweet hot cakes and loved the toffee style syrup that was drizzled on top. There was also a generous amount of berries scattered around the plate and the flavour of the hot cakes and marscapone on top was beautiful. Glad we got it to share - don't think I could have eaten it all myself.

The venue, staff and food at Espresso Room in Northcote is excellent. I highly recommend visiting if you want real value for money and a very decent feed!

Thanks for having us, team :)

There’s a multitude of bustling cafés on the High Street strip through Northcote, so you have to do something to stand out. Espresso Room is on the northern end towards Thornbury and it’s certainly hard to miss with its bold red name announced atop the building. A local hotspot, the café atmosphere is more reminiscent of warmth and family than the more common Scandi vibes that many places give off nowadays. Likewise, the menu has lots of classics like eggs benny, big breakfasts, salads, pastas and burgers, but it does feature a few trendy dishes like protein pancakes and hash stacks. Trend or not, for me the most important thing is the food, so let’s get to it!

The Espresso Room which is located on High Street is a spacious and humble café. We loved the cheese fridge that they also had stored on the side.

We ordered the paella, the special gorgonzola salad and the scrambled eggs. All which had extremely fresh ingredients and cooked very nicely . The amount of seafood in the paella and cheese in the salad was extremely generous , the portion sizes were also very large and a great value for money

Thanks for having us!

Decent coffee and wonderful almond croissants! The savoury breakfast menu is also solid however they put too many sultanas in their muesli and some of their muffins which makes the items far too sweet. I also had an overly sweet chai latte here once (my cup was filled with sticky syrup.) Additionally I find that the staff are extremely inconsistent as I have had both lovely and subpar service. All in all though I frequently return for a delicious croissant alongside my usual soy latte.

Loved my meal at Espresso Room! I was so full by the end! Love a cafe that offers generous servings at a very reasonable price! Highly recommend!

I was recently invited to dine at The Espresso Room on bustling High St in Northcote. My first impressions were that the cafe was deceivingly spacious with an open kitchen and framed espresso equipment on display.

It took a while to be served, possibly because I had sat around a corner which wasn’t in direct view however felt that I should have been checked on within a few minutes of being seated. Nonetheless, my friend and I took the liberty of moving to another table which had since emptied in the main section of the cafe and were served almost instantaneously.

We chose to try the pumpkin and halloumi fritters and the open healthy salad bowl. The servings are HUGE so I’d recommend coming here hungry! The salad plate was a perfect balance of some of my favourite veggies and probably contained some of the best hummus I’ve ever eaten! The pumpkin and halloumi fritters were also very tasty but lacked a bit of moisture as this only came in the form of the poached egg yolk and tomato and avocado salsa. All this was washed down with a beautiful matcha latte which was probably one of the best I’d had in a long time - I would have ordered another if I wasn’t so full!

Food: 4/5
Service: 3.5/5
Environment: 3.5/5

The Espresso Room is in a great location, with generous portion sizes and friendly staff. The Turkish Delight was a great addition to the menu - something unique that we have never come across before. Buttermilk Pancakes and the Pumpkin, Zucchini and Halloumi Fritters were also great dishes. Both the pancakes and the fritters were stacked high and had delicious toppings. The Rejuvinating smoothie and soy latte were perfectly made, no complaints.
Overall, it was a great visit with a nice atmosphere, friendly staff and good food!

I can’t recommend The Espresso Room enough! The food was incredibly delicious and the serving sizes were generous. I wanted to try something different so I ordered The Hash which came with avocado mash and hash browns which was a highlight for me. The protein pancake was another one of my favourites and coffee was just perfect. The overall atmosphere was great and it was very busy for 9:30am which is always a good thing. Can’t wait to come back!

The Espresso Room located on High street in Northcote is a modern cafe serving up a lengthy all day breakfast and lunch menu leaving customers spoilt for choice, offering dishes appealing to all. On a quiet sunny afternoon The Espresso Room didn’t appear to be overly busy and the outside seating area looked mighty inviting, vacantly open with the sun beating down on the wooden tables. We ventured inside to be greeted by a kind waitress who sat us out the front on High Street to soak up the sun and enjoy the lazy Sunday afternoon. We where presented with the menu which is absolutely huge and where left to it to decided what will satisfy our rumbling bellies.

After going through each dish from pancakes to burgers and pastas we finally came to a conclusion both ordering the mouthwatering and refreshing sounding espresso bircher muesli along with the the standard long black brew. The coffee arrived promptly and was sadly a let down :(. Watery in texture with a bitter aroma the brew lacked acidity and may have been pushed through too quickly through the machine. Our dishes arrived shortly after and our jaws dropped due to the pure beauty of the dish. Attention to detail the dish looked superb, plated with care and respect to each ingredient. Consisting of rolled oats, soaked in organic apple and orange juice, assorted mixed dry nuts, toasted chia seeds with passionfruit infused yoghurt, and berry compote was a flavour explosion. The chewy, creamy oats were littered with crunchy nuts, huge dried fruits that had expanded due to being soaked in the juices and fresh fruits. The berry compote was far to sweet for my palate but the tart passionfruit yoghurt attempted to balance out the dish. The meal was very filling but the was just way to sweet.

The Espresso Room staff certainly are friendly and the service in great. The menu is extensive and the ample amount of seating both inside and outside is ideal for large families offering a very kid friendly environment. Due to this cafe being called ‘The Espresso Room’ one would expect the coffee to be much better than it was. With a slight adjustment to the coffee at this cafe there is nothing that can be flawed, but just ensure you inquire into some components of the dishes on the menu to ensure your meal will suit your palate :)

I’m always on the hunt for the best pancakes, so naturally the buttermilk pancakes were chosen. They were pretty good, fluffy inside and not too dense - would classify it in one the best ones i’ve had! Also a big fan of the blueberry marscapone they added on the top. Ambience wise it was pretty chill and cosy, would make another trip back again :)

Stopping here on a Sunday morning for a late breakfast (or brunch as it is not commonly referred to) I can quite genuinely say this is one of the best breakfasts on offer in the surrounding area.

The portion sizes are extremely reasonable, the service is fast and friendly and for the budget savvy dinner this is the place to visit. The variety on the menu is extensive, changes to the dishes are allowed and to cap off the most important thing on a Sunday, the coffee is magnificent.
A must try for anyone either visiting Northcote or a new fan favourite for any local!

Firmly established in Northcote for the past 7 years, The Espresso Room is an enjoyable local cafe whose down-to-Earth friendly staff and approachable menu is a major draw card. As their name indicates, they focus on high quality coffee, which they roast themselves and distribute. Food is also something to rave about, with reliable comfort food that doesn't skimp on flavour or value.

An all day breakfast menu sidles alongside a lunch menu, the latter of which ranges from salads to pasta, paella and sliders. For lunch, their Lamb Skewer or Chicken Skewer Salad is a signature dish, promoting health and abundance all in the one bowl. You can choose to have either lamb or chicken, or both! A serving of bread and olive oil with balsamic vinegar is also provided as part of this dish. Nothing surprising in the salad, but definitely tasty and filling, with the skewered meat perfectly seasoned and flavoured, with distinct chargrill flavours that heighten the excitement of the salad.

For breakfast or a sweet ending, the Buttermilk Pancakes are beautifully fluffy, drenched in a maple glaze with fresh berries, and crunchy chocolate bar sprinkled over the top. I detected a tiny bit of Nutella in the dish, used to anchor some of the components on the plate; though I suggested they incorporate more Nutella into this dish to make it even more decadent and sinfully addictive!

A recommended visit if living in the area, or if passing by. They have a new menu coming out soon, so best to get in quick if you want to enjoy their current offerings!

The Espresso Room is located on High Street in Northcote. A lovely corner cafe with plenty of outdoor seating as well as a spacious interior.

We started with iced lattes & ordered a few dishes & drinks to share.

The apple, mango & berry smoothie was a standout. Icy & refreshing & a really nice change from a dairy based smoothie. Perfect for the summer weather.

We ordered 3 different sliders, haloumi & chargrilled veggies, bacon & eggs & chicken & coleslaw. The flavours of all of them were tasty & fresh. I’d definitely order these again.

The pumpkin, zucchini & haloumi fritters were a bit dense, a bit more like pancakes than fritters. We loved the light salsa it was served with.

We finished with the buttermilk pancakes which were sensational. Light & fluffy & served with plenty of fresh berries & maple syrup. We both really enjoyed this dish.

The service at The Espresso Room was fast & friendly and we really liked the relaxed vibes. A great brunch/lunch spot if you’re around the Northcote area. Thanks so much for having us.

The Espresso Room is a very cute cafe in Northcote. It’s has beautifully present and delicious dishes! We ordered the fitters, butter pancakes and hash tango. I absolutely adore the flavours of the Hash Tango and highly recommend trying this dish. The butter pancakes were so fluffy and is perfect with a tea or cold brew coffee.

There is free parking here from 1 hour along the side streets and 2 hours parking only 5 mins down the road near the shopping centre.

I would recommend this cafe, if you are in the Northcote area.
I always love a Northside brunch. We visited this spacious restaurant located off the busy High street in Northcote on a Sunday morning. The cafe is dimly lit and sets the perfect mood of weekend brunch.

What we had....

The Fritters: these fritters were almost like pancakes the double stack with bacon and a poached egg is perfect for those hungry! The fritters were tasty although rly slight dry due to its thickness.

Gluten Free omelet with crab: The giant omelet had the perfect combination of veg and crab meat!

Smoothies: The smoothies were light as they were made with coconut water rather than milk. They were refreshing and fresh.

We loved the variety in the menu and wished we came for lunch as the menu looked good too!

Very nice cafe with an extensive breakfast and lunch menu! The venue is spacious with plenty of seating indoor and out.
The special the moment, The French Toast was absolutely delicious. Great fresh flavours from the berries and blueberry mascarpone with a hint of saltyness provided by the bacon. The mini burgers were impressive too with a nice homemade flavour about them.

The staff were warm and welcoming making the dining experience all that more enjoyable. Will be back!

Great cafe located on high street northcote.

The fit out was very nice and the staff were very welcoming. Tried a few dishes but my favourites were the French toast (current special) and the anti inflammatory smoothie. Definitely worth checkin out if you are in the area.

I wish I could adjust the rating to 4.5 for 4 doesn't quite cut how many boxes this place ticks! The smoothies here are beyond impressive; amazing tall glasses, decorated with berries, chia seeds and more! The dishes are as beautiful-looking as they are tasty. This was the most delicious granola I've had in a long time.

My partner loved the pumpkin and halloumi fritters. The portion sizes are super decent here, and the meals are so colourful! The staff are lovely and attentive. My only struggle / concern was the fact that the menu wasn't labelled with dietary conditions [which makes it harder as a vegan]. Fortunately the staff were happy to check for me! Other than that, this is such a satisfying brunch spot, and would deeeefinitely come again!

WOW speechless with the service of this cafe all of the staff was incredibly nice and the food was delicious ordered a cool freakshake, pumpkin zucchini and haloumi fritters and to finish it off the buttermilk pancakes the BEST I have ever had overall I was very happy with everything will definitely make a come back 👌🏻

Had a great lunch at The Espresso Room yesterday! We ordered the Hash Tango, Pumpkin & Haloumi fritters & for a little dessert, we got the Protein Pancake. The servings were really generous and everything was delicious! The fritters are a good vegetarian option and the protein pancake was a great sweet option as it wasn't overly sweet and had a great texture...and looked so pretty :) The Hash Tango featured hash browns, smashed avo, poached eggs & smoked salmon on toast, all the best breakfast foods in one dish. We enjoyed the service and it was a nice relaxing environment, especially on this rainy Melbourne day. Also very accommodating of my 5 month old little boy.
Dine And Dash
We were invited here for lunch and as we had heard so much about this cafe we were most eager to try it out. Seeing as it was a lovely sunny day we sat outside. We ordered the Atlantic Salmon, the sliders and one of the specials which was an open Souvlaki. We thought the food was sensational. The chargrilled Atlantic Salmon served on a bed of home-made hummus, topped with fennel, onion and herb salad was very enjoyable. The salmon was cooked beautifully, it was a very generous serving and the beautiful hummus complimented the fish surprisingly well. The substantial open souvlaki was a simple dish that was simply delicious. The meat was cooked well, tender and very juicy The chips were so golden, crispy and piping hot. The pita was seasoned well and the Greek salad was a great accompaniment – fresh and crunchy. There were 3 sliders to choose from – not being bacon fans we chose the chicken one and the halloumi one. The marinated chicken came with coleslaw and a sesame soy dressing and the grilled halloumi slider was served with capsicum, avocado and a herb mix. We loved them both and they were great value.
For dessert/drinks, we had the Freakshake with Nutella and Oreos. It was absolutely amazing and not too sweet at all. We found the decor to be most pleasing and welcoming and the customer service was exceptional. Our waitress was friendly, helpful and attentive. It topped off what was a most enjoyable experience. Even if you’re not local it’s worth an express trip to trendy High St, Northcote you won’t be disappointed.

We wandered in to The Espresso room for breakfast. We ordered the pumpkin fritters, smashed avo, and buttermilk pancakes. Presentation and flavour were 10/10. Coffee is also excellent, and if you wanna start your day right, then order one of their delicious and healthy smoothies too! Very friendly staff and prompt service, and lots of good seating options both inside and out.

Visited this great café on the weekend. We had the dog with us so picked a sunny table out the front (there was also shaded outside tables) around the corner.
Our first impression were how welcoming the staff were, and how prompt their service was. Our second impression was how big and unique their brunch menu is! - It really caters for every taste.
We opted for the 'Wake Up Smashed Avo', 'Hash Tango' and shared their 'Protein Pancake'. All the meals were so big and delicious! They made it really hard to pick a favourite. Their smoothies, kombucha and coffee was also really good!
I couldn't fault this café and wouldn't hesitate in recommending it to anyone!

I popped along to The Espresso Room in Northcote on this beautiful spring day. It was so warm out and still suffering jet lag I was keen to try one of their smoothies to cool down with! The smoothies are a great size and contain yummy fresh ingredients - perfect!
The space is so neat, think industrial chic and plenty of different areas to sit and catch up with friends over a great meal. We enjoyed a Halloumi special with Figs, Buttermilk Pancakes and the Eggs on Hash. All a great size and good value plus very delicious. Thanks for having us!

Spacious cafe with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, The Espresso Room is a perfect spot for brunch.

We ordered the Pumpkin & Halloumi Fritters, one of each of the sliders, and the Buttermilk Hotcakes.

The fritters were a little dense but the flavours were great. Loved the spicy corn and capsicum salsa that it came with.
The sliders were all delicious and the buns were spot on.
My favourite dish were the hotcakes. Plenty of berries and the maple glaze was the perfect accompaniment. So simple but so amazing. The hotcakes themselves were fluffy and not overly sweet which was great.
Shout out to the smoothies and milkshakes... Tasty and refreshing 😍.

Super friendly staff and prompt service. Would recommend these guys if you're in town!

Rating 4.5 Stars
The Espresso Room is a super cool rustic cafe in Northcote and it’s definitely worth a visit.
There are booth seats and indoor and outdoor seating but it’s hard to choose where to sit as they are all very comfortable areas.
Make sure you order the buttermilk pancakes they are so fluffy and delicious and the smoothies are healthy and tasty. I also really enjoyed the Bircher Muesli too so if your in for breakfast it’s a must try!
The staff are really here lovely too.
Thank you for a really nice afternoon The Espresso Room 😊💗

Such a lovely cute cafe! A really refreshing Rustik feel too it with great coffee and amazing menu!! Plenty of variety, incredibly friendly staff & overall a really great spot for breakfast, lunch, or even just a snack!! Really enjoyed my experience here and will definitely be back! Hubby and I and my two kids went to The Espresso Room on Sunday and from the minute we got there the staff came up to us with a smile and asked us where we would like to sit. Melbourne had put on a lovely day so we chose to sit outside. I love the setting of this restaurant as it is so open and airy so it’s easy to talk and hear each other. The menu had lots of options to suit just about anyone. The smoothies and milkshakes were delicious! I had the big breakfast and hubby had the burger and chips. Both were yummy but I couldn’t eat all mine as the plate was huge! Make sure you are very hungry before you go!! After lunch we enjoyed some cakes and coffee. Everything was just perfect. The owners go above and beyond to make sure you feel welcome. Quick table service too! Highly recommend if you are in the area to pop in!

4.1. Coffee stop today. Good sized place. Looks a little dated but who cares. It’s still a nice spot. My long black here was seriously good. It was expertly made and nicely presented too. Silky smooth with great length. Iconic Melbourne standard coffee. Service was good here as well. Quick, efficient and friendly. Nice cafe. Recommended.
Where Will We Eat
This morning we were invited to head over to the Espresso Room and were pleasantly surprised with some very tasty breakfast options. A large menu that covers all the bases, MIL went with the eggs San Pedro that were full of flavour. I had the smashed avo which came with a fresh and tasty corn and capsicum salsa. A great twist on the much-loved standard. We could not resist something sweet, so decided to try the protein pancakes. What a great decision! Not overly sweet and packed full of goodness – definitely something I’d have again. Great coffee and great service

What I love about this place is it’s not insta trendy food that’s picturesque but doesn’t deliver - this place is the real deal! Go there for a slow Sunday lunch or a hungover brunch, you won’t be disappointed. Love you guys 💕

December 2018 ~
Returned back to this cafe & can say I loved it even more!! We tried some different dishes this time round, the pumpkin & halloumi fritters, protein pancake and French Toast. The fritters were so tasty they are accompanied with avocado, tomato, corn and capsicum salsa. The French Toast was super fluffy and loved the berries. The protein pancake is different to your usual pancake, super healthy & filling. Also tried the wake me up smoothie which was so good.
The service is also great at this cafe as all the staff are friendly and make sure you have what you need.
Can’t wait to come back!

July 2018 ~
First time trying this Northcote cafe and can say I’m very impressed with their menu & the quality of their dishes! I had the banana bread which was delicious & I was surprised how big the dish was as I got two big slices with lots of fruit! My mum had the hotcakes which she really enjoyed and found so soft. We both enjoyed our coffees as well!
Can’t wait to visit this cafe again and try the other dishes on the menu!

The food was very good, I really liked it. I will definitely recommend to a friend and come here again. There were plenty of tasty looking options on the menu, it was hard to choose.
Our meals came out quickly, the service was fast but staff weren’t very friendly.
BIRCHER QUEEN 👑
The service takes a little while here. The bircher was okay...they ran out of coconut yoghurt which was disappointing. The protein pancake was massive and delicious. Extremely dense so best eaten on an empty stomach. Our meals came to $30 but I only received $15 change from a $50 note which was annoying as I only realised when I got home.

Espresso room is great spot to grab a bite to eat. The food is always lovely and the soup is a winner.
They have a wonder selection of lunch items for take away too.

Espresso room is well priced and the service there is always great. I ordered the fritters which is a different option to my usual. I'm never let down with any choice I get at espresso room. The coffee was well made as well. I love that at this cafe the food comes out quickly as well.. it's a cute little place that is just perfect for a catch up with your friends :)
