Review Ferdinand - Northcote

Doreen Akkerman, AM
865119 2 friends and I just had a wonderful experience at Ferdinand’s pizza restaurant in Northcote. The owner warmly welcomed us. Drinks were served immediately, the menu was discussed and when the food was served it met all of our expectations. I highly recommend Ferdinand’s for the food and their excellent, welcoming service. Everything we tried had something that disappointed us. The calamari was a very small portion for the price, the polenta chips were crisp and delicious but the cauliflower dip they came with had no flavour at all. The pizza base was excellent but we asked for (and paid for) extra pork sausage on one pizza and they were very stingy with it, we couldn't even really taste it. They may have been understaffed because service wasn't great. It looked like there was only one person managing too many tables. He was very friendly but forgot to bring us things he said he would and we couldn't order more drinks This was a discounted meal so that made it worth it for us but I probably won't visit again even though the pizza base was excellent.

Excellent. Pizzas have a perfect base and were so easy to eat. Partner had a very nice fettuccini marinara. Excellent service. Great atmosphere.

Amazing food, amazing customer service!! The Lamb Gnocchi and pepperoni pizza are highly recommended. If you like your food spicy (as most Indians seem to) ask them for chilli oil - that'll really getcha! Would definitely go back again and again.

Great food and service. Hayden the waiter is very attentive and fantastic. Delicious food and cosy restaurant! Highly recommend.

I tried this place today using the EatClub app, the customer service was really really good! Warm and welcoming. Refreshing for nowadays! I ordered a shiraz and a pasta dish which were delicious. Will definitely be back here again. Thankyou!

Delicious pizza and excellent service. Our waiter Hayden was wonderful!

Nice pizza, good size easily shares 2. Good flavours I loves the 4 cheese and and the prosciutto one. The wine is nice as well. We went there on a Thursday and was busy, better to book a table!

Yes, the name can be a little bit misleading for an Italian joint ... but always a joy to know what you gonna get every-time we dined ...

Fantastic smiles and service from Sandor and the team at Ferdinand.
Awesome alfresco dining area at the back for our group of 20 with heater ON ... bloody Covid-19
Pizzas from those awesome Florence boys and their wood-fired oven.
Good and reasonably priced bottled of wines.
And always an atmosphere ...
Gratzie mille ... we are there every month without fail, except during Covid-19 :-)

Best food and best customer service! Favourite place to eat 😘

This is a stunning restaurant, is the perfect place for some good Italian food. They have a delicious Italian menu from pasta, pizza or fresh antipasto! This is such a cute little venue and we loved sipping on Aperol Spritz outside on a warm summers day, and enjoy just tasty food!

Came here for a Baptism and the food was delicious. I had gnocchi Ragu and shared a pizza. Service is also friendly

We recently dropped in for a Wednesday night Impromptu dinner. We decided to try a red wine on the menu that was unfamiliar. It was pretty good 👌. The gnocchi special of the day was nothing special. But the porcini pizza with truffle oil and prosciutto was AWESOME! We can’t stop talking about it. We will be back this week for more Ferdinand Pizza! Yum! Friendly service. Fair prices. Happy.

Opposite a tram stop and Westgarth cinema also - which is very handy.

⭐⭐⭐⭐

A great pizza joint.

The service was brilliant and the food was delicious. The Porcini pizza was seriously amazing! For those needing gluten free or vegan options they had a bunch.

They were out of a couple of things on the menu like the Polenta chips which was a bit disappointing and the price of pizza was a bit on the high side but overall a great experience and will be back again!
Nikki
Nice little restaurant in west Garth shopping strip. Started with gnocchi special which was homemade and delicious, graduated to a prawn pizza and margarita pizza , have to say I think I preferred margarita as prawn base was a little crunchy for me without a sauce, my bad I didn’t read properly. Staff friendly and white choc panacotta was yum. Would of probably gone 4.5/5 .

Beautiful experience at Ferdinand. We visited here on Tuesday night without reservations but the staff was kindly and quickly arranged a table for us. Had

- MULIGNANA add salami ☆☆☆☆☆
- RAVIOLI ☆☆☆☆☆
- FENNEL salad ☆☆☆☆
- PANNA COTTA ☆☆☆☆

Delicious pizza and pasta, attentive and friendly service and cozy atmosphere. I would definitely rate 5 stars.

Gnocchi is amazing, get it every time I go. And service is great, so glad this is local to me. The owner is a real people person who seems really passionate about the place.

We were greeted on arrival by not only the smiling, friendly staff but also a fabulous aroma of freshly baked bread and garlic! The Menu at Ferdinand has a great range of delicious, hand made, wood fired pizzas, home made pastas, antipasto and salads with both vegan and gluten free options. The restaurant is both licenced and BYO and they have a good range of cocktails along with a great wine list featuring both Australian and Italian wines.

We indulged in a feast of pasta, pizza and gnocci, rounded off with dessert. The pizzas are light and fresh with good quality ingredients that make them very easy to eat! I loved the Sotto Bosco with vegan fior di latte, roasted mushrooms and artichokes. The Porcini was another fave with mozzarella, gorgonzola, porcini, wood fire roasted button mushrooms, truffle oil and parsley. I also loved the Zucca with a sweet pumpkin puree, mozzarella, caramelized onions, taleggio and rocket.

We tried the house made Spaghetti Marinara which is infused with saffron and has a deliciously firm texture - mixed seafood, toasted bread crumbs and wild fennel.

Desserts are rich and sweet and the tiramisu was fluffy and rich and just big enough to leave you not needing to order a second one :)

They also nail a mean nutella pizza with ice cream - with a vegan version available - and they don't scrimp on the good stuff!!

Thanks so much for inviting us down guys!

I had the pleasure of trying out some of their new vegan pasta dishes and they were absolutely INCREDIBLE. Amazing gnocchi, and the mushroom cavatelli was so so flavourful I wanted to bury myself in it. Their focacce and fritto misto made for wonderful appetizers, but having the fluffy tricolore focacce made the pizzas slightly disappointing as I found the crust to be less fluffy and generally a bit dryer and crispier than I prefer. However the dessert pizza was very fluffy and soft so we might just have gotten unlucky with the pizzas, would like to give them another shot in the future. The staff were wonderful, the place looks gorgeous and I would highly recommend trying this place out, and make sure to get their gnocchi when you do. (Free meal)

Love a good Italian restaurant.Visited on a Friday night and this place was packed. We ordered the pizza, pasta, salt and pepper calamari and ended the night with a panna cotta. The pasta was amazing and the noodles were made in house.Loved the texture! The staff were warm and friendly which makes it a good experience

If you're looking for a cosy pizza/pasta restaurant, this is it! Really enjoyed dining at Ferdinand, the staff were lovely and the food was fantastic. The woodfire pizza was high quality but the highlight was the Marinara; fresh spaghetti and lots of well-cooked and seasoned seafood throughout.

Food arrived quickly, as did the drinks. We felt a little crammed on a back table and there was a kids birthday party on the table behind us that was quite loud and disruptive but overall, we would definitely come back for another dinner here!

When we got our order home we found we had the wrong pasta. There’d been a mix-up and when we called them to say this the man I spoke to was very quick to correct things which we really appreciated. I don’t love every dish I’ve tried from Ferdinand - the bolognese is to me too tomatoey (which for some people would be great), but what’s good is great, like the Gamberetto (prawn) pizza.

Great for sourdough wood fire pizza and super tasty pasta.

Tonight we were lucky enough to dine at Ferdinand, a great little Pizza Pasta restaurant in the Westgarth Shops. On this gorgeous evening we sat and soaked up the last of the days warmth and daylight in the courtyard out the back.

We started with a glass of temperanillo and the calamari. The first thing I notice is the lovely aroma of garlic as it hits the table, this generously spiced salt and pepper calamari is melt in your mouth soft and banging with flavour. The aioli (the source of the garlic aroma), is delicious, a very light texture and surprisingly not to overpowering in garlic. If this was bottled on the table I would drink it, a super fresh start to the night.

For mains we opted to share the penne pesto and the Infernale pizza.

The pesto is housemade with walnut and parmesan, the crunch of the walnut crumb and pinenuts bring a lovely textural element to the dish. The simple oil base of the pesto allowed the basil flavour to really shine.

The Infernale pizza arrived with a bubblicious crust and a wonderful super thin base. The combination of cheese, cherry tomatoes, wood fired eggplant and spicy sopressa salami was perfect. The chili hit from the salami was just great with all the veggies. I must say I did rip the crust of one piece of pizza and dipped it in the reminders of the pesto bowl. It was wickedly good.

For dessert we shared the panna cotta and thank goodness we did as this gigantic panna must have been the biggest serving I have ever seen. The thick texture with the prominent Vanilla Bean was paired perfectly with the berry coulis and candied almonds for crunch.

Thanks so much for inviting us
KD

Being invited to this aromatic Italian restaurant was music to my tastebuds. Greeted by the owner, Shandor and our waiter Massimo we felt instantly welcomed and at home - true Italian style! I was ready to devour whatever deliciousness was cooking up in the kitchen!

This place has been gorgeously renovated by Shandor’s wife Nicola who is a visual merchandiser and owns a children’s store in Smith St. With wood as the feature and industrial exposed pipes complementing the decor all the while listening to relaxing tunes - let’s just say our wine went down a treat. This restaurant is perfect for those looking for nice casual dinners, family get togethers, a first date or even massive functions in what is a perfect outdoor space for groups of 30/40 (seated) - 60 (standing). Did I mention they’re dog friendly? 🐕

Shall we get the ball rolling? (cha ching 😉) For entrees we had the caprese salad as any good Italian would, along with perfectly crumbed calamari, both were delicious. For mains we had their wood fire pizza and spaghetti marinara. Let me just say the marinara was amazing with generous amounts of seafood (just the way I like it)! For my sweet tooth’s, we had the tiramisu and the pannacotta for desert and it didn’t disappoint. The balance on the tiramisu was on point and the berries on top of the pannacotta were heaven.

Definitely recommend this place the service is fantastic and the two boys cooking pizza (Francesco and Luca are happy to take selfies and chat all things from the motherland!)

Thanks for inviting us it was a pleasure dining with you!

Friendly staff but not organise. We had family dinner here. It was super squishy as we sat on 11 people for 8 people table. The meal was good but this place is more suitable for small number people maybe up to 6.

Ferdinand is a modern and cosy Italian restaurant, opposite the Westgarth cinema in Northcote. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between neighborhood restaurant and romantic date night destination. Newly opened courtyard for balmy summer nights. The menu focuses on wood fired thin crust pizzas, but also includes a classic selection of pasta, starters and dessert. It also has a vegan section, and does gluten free pizza bases, so there is something for everyone.

If you are in the hustle and bustle of the inner Melbourne suburb, Northcote we would highly recommend coming down to Ferdinand for dinner or lunch! We came down on a Saturday night and it was busy throughout the night! We absolutely loved the delicious Ferdinand pizza which had fresh cherry tomatoes, prosciutto, mozzarella, and fresh basil. The pizza base was so thin and crispy and we loved the recommendation of some chili oil to go on top. The Spaghetti Marinara is also a must try - with plenty of seafood (mussels, pipis and prawns) this dish was perfectly cooked and the seafood was cooked really well! We also had Rocket with fresh pear slices tossed with goats cheese and honey and balsamic dressing - a good accompanying side dish! And to finish it all off we shared a Tiramisu which was so delicious with every mouth full! On top of all the yumminess, we loved our waiters who were so friendly and accommodating! We will definitely be back!

My niece had her 18th birthday lunch here yesterday and I just wanted to say what a great afternoon.! The food was terrific and there was lots of it. The staff were efficient and attentive. I would highly recommend Ferdinand for a private function or a casual dinner.
Jason Agius
The pizzas were excellent and the staff were friendly. Their Aperol Spritz was a little flavourless (too much soda water??) though and the fennel salad was a little light on fennel. But since the pizzas and staff were so great, I'd go back.

Ferdinand is a very lovely Italian restaurant in Westgarth, right opposite the Palace Theatre. It’s a great place to catch up with friends or a date before or after a movie. Staff is very polite and attentive and I love how they try pronouncing Italian words correctly! Great effort!
Food is lovely and portions are pretty generous.
Eat Me!
Best pizza in Northcote area. Great chewy crust and wood fired base. Been there as a dine in customer as well as takeaway and it’s always consistent. Service is friendly (the most important bit) and pleasant but can be a bit inexperienced

We had a wonderful evening. Food was absolutely delicious, all dishes were super tasty and wholesome. The service was friendly and attentive, great all round experience. Already thinking about a next visit!

Pizza is my weakness, especially the proper Italian style pizza. I like to try different places around Melbourne to see which is best. We gave Ferdinand a try as the reviews were really good.

I thought the food was good but not great. I ordered the "Ferdinand" pizza. The flavours were good but I felt the base of the pizza was a little too soft. I also ordered the mixed berry panacotta which was the highlight.

The staff were friendly however what annoyed me was that the main meals came before the entree. The waitress apologised and said it was still coming but didn't give us the option to cancel it since we already had our mains and brought it out a few mins later.
Welwelwel
Seafood lovers, go for the spaghetti marinara. Absolutely gobsmackingly lovely. The mushroom gnocchi is also beautiful. The whole team seems to be enjoying itself, under the guidance of the friendly owner. He’s passionate about getting things right. Please don’t ever change chefs.

4.5 Located in the quieter Westgarth area of Northcote, Ferdinand is a wonderful, welcoming restaurant and a perfect place to enjoy a lovely family meal. What first strikes you about Ferdinand is that...
Sivashankar Sivam
Walked in to this wonderful place,
Only to be joyously greeted by their owner/manager! He got us a seat and offered us some water to begin with.

Whilst at it, he was pretty animated and made the whole dining experience a great one!

As for the food, we got the Ferdinand and soppressa pizzas and both were bang on good! Will definitely be back!

This place is hands down the most amazing place on the high st food scene. The owner is friendly, cares about both his staff and patrons, oozes personality, is merticulous, has an eye for fine detail, and keeps the restraunt absolutely spotless. 5 stars well earns. Thankyou for the lovely meals, this is my new favourite.

Ferdinand is located in the beautiful Westgarth area of Northcote - such a great location on High Street, surrounded by some other awesome bars and eateries in a less bustling and busy atmosphere to that of the rest of High Street Northcote as you move away from the city.

Upon arrival we were enthusiastically greeted and shown to our table by Sandor, who I believe is the owner/operator of the restaurant. I felt a really nice friendly vibe in the restaurant - all the staff were attentive, and I liked the neatness of the tables and decor, and the old movie prints on the walls. It is really spacious inside with an outside courtyard as well. The front room is a little louder and has more of a casual feel and it seemed like the back room was a little more quiet and intimate.

We started with a glass of the riesling and the pinot noir and both were really nice and a good serving. We then ordered a pizza and pasta to share. Starting with the pizza, it was delightful - we ordered the Soppressa, and immediately noticed the delicious smokey taste from the woodfired oven. The woodfired roasted capsicum on the pizza was a real highlight and added so much flavour. For the pasta, we ordered the Penette Bolognese. Penette was basically like penne, but perhaps a little smaller. The bolognese was beautiful - and l loved how it was served with the pasta and sauce all stirred in together rather than separate. It had the perfect tomatoey-herby flavour that I love in a bolognese, and again it was a generous serve and I was very content after it was finished.

For dessert we ordered the Panna Cotta, which was just BEAUTIFUL. The mixed berries on top were flavoursome and gave the creaminess of the panna cotta a bit of tang. I loved being able to see all the little specks of vanilla bean in the panna cotta. The texture was just right and it had the perfect wobble. All in all, a really enjoyable evening. Thankyou for having us Ferdinand - we will be back to try everything!! I have my eyes on that pumpkin risotto. I highly recommend a trip here for your next pizza/pasta feast. :-)

"Bloody great pizza and pasta "Love, Love Love the service!!
Would recommend to everyone, best location!Been there a few times and it gets better and better everytime!

Not sure what I enjoyed here more; the pizza or the service.
Wood-fire pizza on point! Good selection of wine and beer.
Think it's owner-operated as the service every time I've been is has been incredible.
Must try: Fru Fru or the Ferdinand pizza
Eat_today_diet_tomorrow
We had a chance to try the soppressa, gamberetto pizzas, spaghetti marinara and the rocket salad. The woodfired pizzas were rrally good, especially the crust. Really hit the spot for our pizza cravings. The spaghetti was divine, heaps of seafood, amazing garlic and olive oil. It doesn't get any better than this. This place truly deserve 5 stars.
George David Michaelides
Was really happy with my Ferdinand Pizza, the balance of flavours were spot on! I enjoyed the base the most and the price (touch higher than average) is expected for quality that is well above average. Will be back to try other dishes
Spirited Stardust
Super friendly service with crayons and colouring for kids.
There’s vegan options on the menu and pizzas can be gf too.
I opted to veganise the porcini truffle pizza (they have vegan cheese as an option). It had the most generous amount mushrooms I’ve ever had on a mushroom pizza - the base was great of crispy and chewy. Great size.
Kids had the Nutella strawberry pizza which they lived.
Hubby had the Ferdinand which he loved.
Would come back.
Angelat
Very nice. The flavours where amazing!
A great choice of both vegetarian and vegan options - and vegan cheese available
If it wasn’t so pricey I would of given it 5 stars
Being spoiled for choice all the way up high st, with pizza great pizza places, the only reason this place wasn’t packed must be the price
Delicious pizza. Perfect Spritz. Excellent service!
We’ll be back soon.
So glad we found such a gem in our area!!
Great job guys!! Bravissimi!

we love this restaurant. great service, kid friendly, amazing food (we had pizza and rocket salad), great wine and even better coffee. even the bathrooms are super clean with thank you soap and paper towels. I hope this place never changes, it is actually perfect. we will be back often!

Service was excellent. Staff were friendly and very accommodating, nothing was too much for them. Pizzas were great. The bases were awesome. The gnocchi was fluffy .. it was our first time, we’ll be back soon !!
Food By Hilly
Came here last night with a group of friends for dinner and it gets a big thumbs up from me 👍🏻. I had the calamari which was delicious although perhaps a bit on the small side for a main meal, perhaps there was a miscommunication with the kitchen and I received the entree instead? Nonetheless it was extremely tasty. Everybody else thoroughly enjoyed their meals and the staff were friendly and attentive, gets a tick from me.
Margarita Pracatan
Feel like I need to judge this place by their pizza before I never go back, but the couple of antipasti I had today were actively bad. Chewy calamari (5 mean, thin pieces) on a HUGE bed of browning mixed leaf salad. Then the veggo arancini was made from stodgy risotto. Everything was suuuper expensive too. Service was good though!
Hello Pizza
After reading all the great reviews I was so excited to eat at Ferdinand. I found the dough so heavy it was a struggle to digest, don't see myself returning any time soon. 🍕
Deb Parkinson
Try the Ferdinand pizza - delicious pizza with perfect authentic crust and quality prosciutto, tomatoes and buffalo mozzarella. We sat next to the Coonara wood fire with a BYO wine from new (and beautiful) Samuel Pepys wine store. Ferdinand itself is a beautiful space. Can't wait to go there again!
Arthur Rimbaud
Best pizza in Melbourne by far!!! Absolutely perfect calzone, heads and shoulders over any other pizzeria in town. Warm and friendly environment too, very highly recommended!

If you are trying to find a place that serves authentic Italian pizza this is the place to go! Coming from an Italian background and having visited Italy a handful of times I have become very picky with my pizza choices - Ferdinand lives up to the hype. With friendly, attentive service and fresh tasty ingredients that will leave you wanting to save some for later Ferdinand is one of my faves in Northcote. My reccomendation would be the Ferdinand pizza, you can't go wrong with buffalo mozzarella!
Good Food Good Mood
We headed into Ferdinand for a pre movie lunch with my friend vouching for the place on account of the owner previously running a restaurant in the city she frequented. He certainly brought the winning formula to Northcote with the sleek design and D.E.L.I.C.I.O.U.S food. Stylish minimalist interiors with wood and black and white diagonal tiles featured. The main focal point was the beautiful wood fired oven creating the deliciousness. Pretty pendant lights and an extensive space (including an outdoor area) you can sit overlooking the pretty Westgarth theatre and watch the trams go by. I heard the sounds of Italian coming from the kitchen so I knew we were in for an authentic experience. The pizza was one of the most visually appealing creations I'd ever laid eyes on. Perfectly placed and proportioned ingredients on a Bellissimo base. The salad was also beautifully presented and very reasonably priced (as was the entire menu). Great range of red and white based pizzas and quite an extensive number of pasta options too. I loved the little slice 🍕of history behind the name too. King Ferdinand of Naples was thought to have had a pizza oven installed at the palace and played host to many popular pizza parties. The Italian doughnut with pistachio ice cream and Nutella was also very well received and generously proportioned. Definitely a great addition to the high street strip and an ideal pre or post cinema pit stop
Split The Bill
A newish addition to the Westgarth strip, perfect for dinner followed by a movie at the nearby cinema.

Serving wood fire pizzas and pasta dishes, we started with an entree of oven warmed olives served with house baked focaccia. This delicious focaccia was freshly baked with garlic and herbs and paired perfectly with the warm olives.

We decided to follow that with the
PATATA pizza with fior di latte, potato, caramelised onion, gorgonzola and parsley. We were not that impressed with this one as the potato was still raw and we felt the pizza did not have much flavour.

Luckily we were onto a winner with the ZUCCA pizza consisting of fior di latte, creamed pumpkin, caramelized onion and goats cheese. You had us at goats cheese! Yum!

Service was friendly and efficient. Coffee was just ok. They do have a weird sliding door and sitting in front of it with cold air blasting in on a winters night was not very enjoyable experience.

We would definitely come back and try some other dishes and sit in a different spot in the restaurant.
An
Love this place. Pizza always great. Fast service. Another great addition to the MANY pizza restaurants in northcote, but one we continue to return to!
Enjoy It
Excellent pizza here, great sauce and dough and just the right amount of topping with good quality ingredients. The smaller entre dishes were a tad disappointing, very little flavour and no discernible seasoning, but then it really is a pizza place. Would most definitely return and stick to pizza
Penguineats
We thoroughly enjoyed the Ferdinand Pizza. Served on an authentic, woodfired pizza base that had just the right amount of airiness and crisp, fresh toppings were liberally applied. Huge chunks of fresh, lightly flavoured mozzarella di bufala dominated the top, and were accompanied by a generous amount of juicy cherry tomatoes and basil leaves. Underneath, we found layers of tender and flavourful proscuitto that easily fell apart when torn, and was well accompanied by a rich tomato base baked with parmigiano and fior di latte. The abundance of fresh, quality ingredients ensured that each bite was packed full of flavour.

Ferdinand brings to Melbourne’s North an authentic taste of Italy. With a simple yet well-executed menu that utilises traditional Italian ingredients and cooking methods, like the wood-fire oven, you are bound to be satisfied with the dishes served at this Italian eatery.

Pizza tour continues: Ferdinand is a kinda new pizza place right opposite the beautiful Westgarth cinemas. Nice fitout, sleek, modern, clean. The service was good. The pizzas were okay, but at $27 (broccoli and sausage) and $23 (mushroom) I found them too expensive. If you're going to charge over $20 for a pizza it needs to be WOW. The crust was perfect on one of the pizzas but a bit doughy on the other. Also thought the drinks list was a bit pricey for the area, with no bottle of red under $45. Maybe I'm being picky, but out in the 'burbs is it unreasonable to find a decent drinkable wine for under forty bucks?
Yummy24/7
Yummy, family, friendly, Ferdinand. Had a great night, the staff where really helpful and the atmosphere relaxed.

Loved their Antipasto platter with a divine glass of Alteo Chiant !

Also looking forward to next time I'm going to the movies to sneak in for a quick pizza and chiant before the film 😜

I ordered a Ferdinand pizza and It was totally burnt. The menu says bufalo mozzarella but it wasn't!! worst pizza I ever had in my life. Service was good
Absoloodle
The GF bases are very good. None of the pizza flavours blew me away. Still good tho... but man is there some stiff competition on the street.

Finally I've found my favourite wooden fire Pizzeria in the Northern area.

We had the signature Ferdinand pizza and a salad, beautiful presentation and sooo tasty.
They have a really nice courtyard and the staff is really friendly.

I totally suggest the place and I'll definitely be back soon.

Our new favourite pizza place. Really delicious authentic Italian base and always consistent flavour. Love the Tartufarta and the Fru Fru. We have been here a few times now and we are always made to feel welcome with our 2 energetic boys. Great food, great service and a relaxed atmosphere where I don't feel crammed in and rushed out.

-- Wow !!! What an AMAZING pizza place! I've been here a couple of times now with friends my family and on a date night and its an excellent location for all events! The food is superb, the most delish Italian bases and yummiest of ingredients. The Tartufata (mushroom and truffle oil) pizza and the pear and walnut salad are my favs; they are just the bomb! Theres the standard selection of drinks and a good choice of local beer and wine too. Also there is a great relaxed atmosphere and I am always impressed by how accommodating and friendly the wait staff are, I'm always greeted like an old friend and NOTHING is too much trouble. Just GO! you will not be disappointed.
Leza Cullen

Just got the pizza delivered and it's very disappointing. This is the most expensive pizza I have ever purchased considering I paid extra $4 for inedible GF base that gave my partner an eye stomach cramps. Would not get this again.

Una delle migliori pizze mai mangiate! Ottima scelta di vini e birre. Ingredienti freschi e di qualità. Proprietario molto simpatico :) CONSIGLIATO

Our fave pizza place in Northcote! Great pizzas and fun friendly staff. Love the cool music too - have a son with sensory issues and that is important to us!

Ferdinand has unreal pizza and lovely staff, definitely going back. Particularly good before or after seeing a film at Westgarth cinema across the road.

Where to go for a quick bite before (or after) a movie in Westgarth? Ferdinand!
Where to go for bookclub? Ferdinand!
Where to go for simply great pizza? Ferdinand!
Ok, so we have been here a few times now. Why do we keep coming back?
Simply, the food is great, service excellent & knowledgeable, convenient location and price on par with every other quality pizza restaurant.

The food - the pizza's are delicious, my favourite being the Funghi. The crusts are sensational with that lovely wood-fired taste about them. Salad selection is excellent all 3 are outstanding. The drinks menu covers a great selection without being overwhelming with the Ulisse 2014 Montepulciano D’Abruzzo being our favourite red.
Staff are fantastic and friendly and always recommend well when you're a little unsure of what to order.
The setting is lovely and the outdoor area is brilliant!
Ferdinand; for a lingering dinner or a quick bite. Go there, you wont regret it.

A really welcome addition to Westgarth dining, especially for dinner before/after cinema. Pizzas and salads delicious. Great wine list. Very warm service. Courtyard is beautiful and industrial and dog-friendly as far as I can tell!
David Brereton
The selection of pizza was outstanding and delicious. The staff are very attentive and accommodating to our needs. I will definitely be back

This is a great new restaurant, I'd definitely recommend it. I really enjoyed the Tartufata pizza, really nice mushrooms, truffle oil, and a great base. The staff were nice, and we felt very comfortable with our kids and a high chair. For dessert we had the nutella pizza with banana, the kids loved it, and I'd say it's worth a visit just for that!
Betty Oliver
Fantastic! Loved the pizza, staff were super friendly, fit out is beautiful and relaxed. Napoletana pizza - a fave 10/10 - defiantly my fave new local pizza joint

Had a great meal at Ferdinand. Probably one of the better Gluten Free bases I've had. Had the Broccoli and the Fru Fru with my hubby. The Fru Fru I think was the stand out as far as the Pizza, but OMG you have to try the chocolate mousse. It was amazing. Nice atmosphere, not noisey despite being pretty full and friendly attentive staff. Will be back.
Tina Foley
We had the Ferdinand pizza, base was perfect and toppings were spot on, amazing rocket salad with pear goats cheese and honey - and arancini balls. Excellent service and great fit out. Looking forward to coming back and trying more pizzas. Perfect for a quick meal before a movie or head down to kelvins for a few drinks post meal. Great addition to Westgarth.

Delicious, authentic pizza; Margherita had the perfect amount of cheese. Tiramisù was a very generous serve and was superb.
Excellent service; friendly but natural.
Great decor.
Will be back again for sure.

Recently open this new restaurant is a must! The venue is warm and cosy and this contributes to creat a great atmosphere. There's a courtyard area as well which is very nice and I look forward to joining it for the incoming summer! Staff are friendly and well prepared. The manager who I assume to be the owner of the place is simply amazing: always smiling and willing to engage customers in a face-to-face conversation. Now last but not least: the food! OMG it's simply to die for it! Pizza is amazing and the dough is the real italian one. I've tried the nutella pizza with banana and I'm still dreaming of it. You must definitely go and have a try. Congratulations guys and see you soon!

Newly opened pizza restaurant opposite the Palace cinemas. You can tell that this place is a labour of love with its beautiful and modern interior. This is the place to go if you want authentic wood-fired pizza in the area. The wood fired pizza oven is from Naples and pizza chefs may be too!
Upon first glance into the restaurant it may look small, but there are 2 dining areas, as well as a large take away section so that those waiting for their orders don't crowd the eat-in diners. There's also a beer garden/outdoor eating areas in the making for when the weather is finer. The restaurant is wheelchair friendly (one of the bathrooms is so large you could host a game of basketball in there!)

We booked for 8 but had to upgrade to 9 - this was easily accommodated by the friendly restaurant staff. Our waiter was extremely knowledgable and recommended the right number of pizzas for our group as well as some sharing plates at the beginning. I'd recommend ordering pizzas in stages so that they don't all come at once and you get to eat them whilst they're fresh. I can't remember the name of all the pizzas, but we shared The Ferdinand, a prawn pizza, pumpkin pizza, salami pizza (spicy!)... maybe one more. My only criticism would be to add a few more prawns to the prawn pizza. Each pizza had a perfect base and was otherwise, delicious!
Also sampled the Nutella pizza, chocolate mousse and tiramisu. OMG. All were amazing.
We will definitely return.

Best pizza I have had in Melbourne. I recommend the Salsiccia. The chefs are superstars! What a great addition to the Westgarth neighbourhood. Great beer garden out the back for those warmer days. Cosy fireplace in the back dining room.

Great new pizza restaurant close to Westgarth Cinemas. Really enjoyed an evening outing here with my family - friendly staff, cozy environment, high quality pizzas and a good choice of wines and beers, what's not to like! Will definitely dine here again when in the neighbourhood.

This is a great new addition to the Westgarth precinct. Awesome, authentic pizza, heaps of vegie options, the restaurant fit out is way cool and the vibe is fun and relaxed. It was great coming here with a group of friends and also for a family dinner with toddlers in tow. Staff were really accommodating to the kids, and kids pizzas were a hit. Also the dessert pizza has to be tried at least once! OMG Nutella!

Awesome wood-fired pizza, came super-quick after ordering. Friendly staff, nice slick modern interior, that pizza oven is a beast! 100% totally recommended.
