The devilled eggs and the feel good brekkie were both delicious, although I didn’t realise loukaniko was pork which I don’t eat…that’s more of my fault for not checking than theirs. The rest of the meal was amazing though.
They have fresh squeezed juices which were amazing and the coffee was good too. The service was brilliant, the prices were really reasonable and I look forward to coming back and trying their dinner menu!
We came here during the week for dinner to catch-up with a friend and had a great time! We made our own banquet by ordering a number of dishes to share between us which worked really well. It was pretty quiet and a little cold in the restaurant but that’s suburban Melbourne on a Tuesday night! Must try the calamari, it was delicious, closely followed by the lamb souvlaki - yum! Available on the entertainment book app as well!
nice restaurant in northcote. on a cold night, it was so nice to be seated next to the fire, and keep warm, although the main door didn’t shut properly every time someone entered, which resulted in us sometimes having to shut the door because it got so cold!! the venue is nice, a bit noisy but still able to hear everyone. the table was fitted with a turning table in the middle which was great to put your plates on to share! the service was relatively quick and we got our delicious food. they catered so well for both vegans and non-vegans. the vegan dips were amazing, however maybe a bit too expensive for the serving sizes, and i can also recommend the baked potatoes, zucchini chips, and the vegan pie. the only food disappointment was that the calamari was over cooked. we loved everything else though and ordered some rosemary chips - some of the best chips ever! thank you, Laiko.

Walking down High st late on cold Friday night, we decided to try Laiko, based on the warm and cosy setting inside and were keen for some Greek food!
We decided to order the deluxe platter, which we knew would be way too much food for just 2 of us but were interested in trying a bit of everything (they always let you take-away what you can’t finish). We chose this option because of value: $55 pp included dips, bread and grilled capsicums as entree, a seafood platter and a grilled meat platter as mains and then of course baklava, Turkish delight and galaktoboureko! This was too good to pass up.
The food was amazing, after the entrees and the first seafood platter, we were legitimately full and we’re going to struggle on the meat the platter.
The stand out dishes for us, was the grilled capsicums, the grilled squid, the calamari and the lamb skewers. All the seafood tasted fresh and was served perfectly. The lamb was marinated and cooked with rich authentic flavours, was not dry at all.
Lastly the service, is impeccable . The young man that served us all night, was very attentive and polite, addressing me as sir and apologising each time he came over for “interrupting us” to ask how we were going with the food. These small details show the difference between good front of house and great front of house.
Would highly recommend this restaurant for a couples night or even a a group catchup as they have some large circular tables!

I cannot go past a vegetarian moussaka. This one was vegan with potato, eggplant, chickpeas and a tomato topping without the bechamel or cheese. The chickpeas and been brought into a paste so that the textures were smooth. The potato and tomato with all its herbs and seasoning was straight out of Greece.

These guys sell loukoumades which is enough reason to go straight there right now. Should you also want to sample the breakfast or lunch on offer you will not be disappointed, selections offer a welcome twist to traditional Greek restaurant fare. Portions are generous, service is excellent, menu is divine, ambience is spot on. New favourite local.
Came in for the banquet and didn't know what to expect as they had a special promotion for $79 which included a bottle of wine.
We were very impressed and can't think of any other restaurant that offers such great value for money. The platter is loaded generously with prawns, mussels, crab legs and a huge serve of chips underneath. The quality of the food was great too.
We also couldn't resist trying some of the meze dishes and the dolmades were fantastic, so was the eggplant. They have other dinner deals so we will definitely be back!
Amazing! This is the best honest Greek food I have ever had. We came for dinner Saturday night and had the banquet to try a bit of everything. A bit of everything was an understatement! There was so much food and the quality was amazing! It had the softest calamari I had eaten and I couldn't fault any of the other food either. We loved it so much we came back the next morning to try their awesome fruit smoothies! OMG, it was delicious and so was breakfast. So two days later here we are again for breakfast and their awesome smoothies. I haven't had coffee, not my usual bacon for breakfast and I am loving it! That's just the food! Eleni and Micheal, mother and son are just as amazing. Happy, friendly and make you feel so welcome. This is now my favourite place!
I can't comment too much on the food here as we haven't had dinner so let's just leave that out. What we do love about Laiko is the service. We stop here often to grab takeaway coffee while on the run and receive the friendliest service.
The fireplace in the middle of the venue is a nice touch in winter. Heaps of seating and takeaway food options for a quick toastie on the run.
Tip: They're one of the only places in the area thats open for a late hangover breakfast (past 3pm) and they NEVER rush you.
Great food and friendly service with unique Greek food to top off a lunch or dinner that can really make your day. The only improvement I could say is maybe the portion size but despite the portion size and enjoyable dining Experience.

I went here the other day with my friends. It’s quite far from where I live, but Northcote is always hustling and bustling with people. We were greeted immediately upon entry and the owners constantly came back to check up on us. The 4 of us used a Groupon for this meal, which included a breakfast item and coffee/orange juice each.
We ordered: Buttermilk + Berry Pancakes, Buckwheat coconut pancakes, Benedict and The Works from the breakfast menu (refer to pictures). The presentation of each of the dishes was superb and the portion sizes were extremely generous. I tasted the buckwheat coconut pancakes, which was a vegan dish. I was extremely excited to try vegan icecream as I’d never tasted it before. Honestly, there was no difference between normal and vegan icecream! I found the pancakes too repetitive after a while, as there was not enough fruit to complement the pancake. The pumpkin croquette off my boyfriend’s dish (“The Works”) was delicious! I believe his dish would have been more filling for breakfast than mine- regretted in the end not getting savoury haha. Nonetheless, my dish was justified through my experience of vegan icecream and pancakes for the first time!
The only thing that stopped me from giving them a 5-star review was our waiting time. We waited approximately 40 minutes for our food to come which, even for me, is far too long.
However, the owners were lovely and genuinely interested in our lives, aside from obtaining our business. I really enjoyed this experience and would definitely go back!

Went there for a meal with a friend. Really nice place. Food was good, service was great and friendly. The place looks really nice. My only suggestion is that the lighting is nice but at night, they should dim the lights a little. It is very bright. A little more dim would really create more atmosphere. Otherwise great.
I couldn’t go past the Devil Eggs. The addition of chilli on a breakfast menu without being in an omelette is something quite unique and caught my attention straight away. When you think of poached eggs, loukaniko (pork sausage), harissa mayo, spring onions, chilli jam and smashed avo on toast, how could you go past it either? I was feeling a little hungrier that particular morning, so I added a hash brown to my breakfast.
Look: I’ve had many a brunch. One thing that really lets me down in a breakfast dish is when the eggs have been overcooked. It’s just such as disappointment to cut into the eggs expecting a runny egg and finding one that’s pretty much hard-boiled. So the first thing I do when I’ve ordered poached eggs, I conduct the (very official) yolk test.
As you can see, the dish from Laiko was plated so beautifully. I couldn’t wait to destroy this dish! Of course, I had to do the yolk test… and was so delighted to find that the eggs were cooked perfectly.
Pancakes are a must when visiting here. Though they have a great large menu ranging from breakfast, lunch and of course a tasty dinner we still landed on the pancakes. So fluffy!!
I must have walked passed this place so many times but never been in. I’m glad I got the chance to try it. A Greek inspired menu so we opted for some of the classics. The Saganaki was light and salty and crispy on the outside and delish! With a spray of lemon it hits the spot.
We then tried the open lamb souvlaki which is a generous serve of three skewers, pita bread, chips and salad. The lamb was flavourful and cooked well. The bread was served hot which made it extra delish.
We also tried the berry pancakes which were nice. The dish cake with two fluffy pancakes and a load of fresh berries.
My friend ordered the hot chocolate and was raving about it; perfectly hot and the right amount of chocolate.

What a great addition to the Northcote food scene. Offering delicious Greek food and of course traditional breakfast dishes. We didn’t get a chance to try the dinner menu but definitely will be back to give it a go.
Was at Laiko last night dinner and couldn't no share my experience to the public! I am putting it out there as the BEST greek in Melbourne! So much flavour, so much food, I just didn't want the experience to end. This is a venue you could easily visit multiple times in a week!
Laiko was incredible, their pancake stacks are to die for. Seriously some of the best pancakes in Melbourne. I'll be back very soon to try some of the other foods, but from what I've seen so far. They're super delicious.
Great Greek feasting at Laiko Northcote. We visited for an early dinner and ordered a variety of mezethes to share. The grilled calamari was so tender and tasty and we loved the zucchini chips. The keftethes (meatballs) in red sauce with feta were another favorite. Juicy mince meat and well seasoned. Another standout was the char grilled red peppers with feta.
I’d definitely love to come back with a bigger group and try out even more dishes or some of the platters they have on offer.
What an awesome, friendly and delicious visit to Laiko! Definitely family friendly and well priced, Laiko is some Greek food to die for!
Did you even have Greek food if you don’t have dolmades? Definitely grab some of these beauties as a starter and couple them up with some bruschetta and grilled calamari. So much flavour in all these dishes you’ll feel like you just landed in Greece.
Follow it up with an open Souva and wrap your laughing gear around some of the freshest and most delicious lamb or chicken you’ll have in Melbourne.
With a great wine list and dessert to die for, there’s no doubt you’ll love dining at Laiko!
The smoothies are seriously so amazing!! If you ever visit this place, you 100% have to try one! The pancakes and devilled eggs were really tasty as well. The only thing that I didn’t enjoy about my experience was that the food took way too long to come out :(
Absolutely blown away by the food and service here. Staff are friendly and provide the most impeccable service and the food took me back to Greece. The stand out of the night would probably have to be the watermelon martini ... this was so damn good I was contemplating leaving my car overnight and ubering home, a 11/10 for sure !
As for the food I had the a mixed grilled plate , lamb roulade, moussaka, beef with risoni and stuffed vegetables ! The moussaka and lamb roulade were by far my favorite dish and I could eat that over and over again.
We were also treated to some homemade vegan raw treats and being very skeptical about desserts that are vegan I actually really enjoyed them
10/10 will revisit and have a liquid dinner of watermelon martini

I was lucky enough to be invited to Laiko with a group of other bloggers last night and what a treat it was. Their watermelon martinis brought me joy like nothing else. I was thoroughly impressed by the set up and excited to taste their modern Greek food.
We started with a selection of entrees my favourites of which were the super flavoursome lemon potatoes, the delicious eggplant dip with fresh bread and the absolutely outstanding chargrilled calamari. This was exceptional. The prawns were pretty amazing too- a must for a seafood lover.
We also tried a variety of mains including the lamb roulade, moussaka, beef with risoni and the mixed grill. Bring me all the meat! I loved the chicken and lamb skewers on the mixed grill plate.
Dessert wise they offer ice cream, traditional Greek sweets or an array of house made vegan treats. We sample the raw vegan items and I’m pleased to say the cherry ripe one was absolutely delightful and caters well to the local market. I will undoubtedly be back for more of that sensational seafood
Fantastic food and lovely people, however I would not suggest going there if you are in a rush. The time it takes for your meal to arrive is way way too long, despite being one of the only customers.
A venue that is good for breakfast, lunch and dinner is very rare, so coming across laiko was a gem! From acai bowls to big shared seafood platter's, this really is a venue that should be on everyone's list.

We have been a couple of times now and must say the menu is fantastic. The service is friendly and welcoming and the quality of the meals is at a high standard. Also you have to love the 50ml bottles of Plomari Ouzo !! Good value fun night out
A Tuesday night , Laiko was well supported by diners. We four of us had the banquet for 4 $48.00 something ahead. But let's not get ahead of ourselves. The Decor arty, original, pleasant, quirky, and very nice and ambient. The food plenty of it , enough to say that we left some of the Portarlington mussels, and the chips, because we had another two serves to come, next lamb whey kebabs lamb, patties, and more Greek salad, now by this we were full shouldn't have finished off the starter plates of Octopus, dips bread, sausage and sang ( cheese bread) you see that was the start to all this. The sweets and coffee were included. We couldn't eat the sweets , yes we had one cake and cut it into 4 to have with our coffee and were asked if we would like the rest to take home yes please .bought
Staff are friendly and welcoming. Nice decor. Food resonably priced. Food just took a long time to come out and it was a quiet Wednesday lunch time.

Most cafes on the Melbourne food scene are out there to produce the most intsagramable food. Laiko is a little different. Being a Greek restaurant at night and café during the day, their focus is on producing quality and authentic food. With the owners having had much previous experience in the hospitality industry, they aim to provide customers with the best overall dining experience. Their menu is quite standard, however, they try and put a twist of Greek inspired food in every dish, to really stand out and execute the flavours and high quality.
Benedict is always a classic dish that is hard to perfect so of course we like to challenge places to see how well they can execute the dish. With no shock, I believe they nailed the flavours. The quality of the ham was very high, which really shone through in the dish because it just melts in your mouth and presents so much flavour. The bean shoots gave the dish a nice crunchy texture and added an almost earthy flavour. the chorizo was nice and smoky and was cooked to perfection. The portion size was quite substantial so we were left rolling out of here!
Granola is another favourite breakfast dish of ours because it is light and refreshing. The granola nice and sweet, which worked really well with the neutral yogurt and sweet honey. The fruit on top really made the dish stand out and more filling as the thick elements brought the flavours together. Despite what the photo might portray, this was also a very filling dish that will satisfy you until your next meal.
The pikelets were seriously incredible. The flavours were so unique and I could honestly eat them all day. They were quite thin but were very fluffy. The halva ice cream, OMG, I could not get enough of it. You would not be able to tell the difference between actual halva and this ice cream, other than the consistency. The cinnamon topped the dish off nicely and tied the Greek flavours together.
Overall, we really enjoyed this place and are excited to try their dinner menu in the future!

Have been to Laiko for lunch a few times. Great simple food that’s delicious. Service is impeccable. The open souvlaki was delicious and my friend had the calamari salad which was also delicious.
Coffee was also great. Will definitely be returning.
If you want a memorable meal (for all the good reasons), Laiko is your answer. Eleni and the team welcomed us for our children's christening lunch on a Sunday. They were hospitable, friendly, warm and very inviting, and the meat platter was out of this world! We couldn't rate Laiko highly enough, thank you team for an amazing lunch! We can't wait to come back down for another feast!

Saturday lunch, delicious house made greek dips ( the eggplant and tzatziki outstanding), beautiful melt in the mouth calamari, superb pumpkin gnocchi, finished off with a mouthwatering house made Greek dessert. And equally outstanding was the hospitality. The warmest of welcomes and attention to our wants made me feel like I'd dropped in to see a friend and ended up staying for lunch. The Moussaka was DELICIOUS and the lamb was cooked perfectly on my lamb & feta salad. Then the desserts...So many options are available, from the 3 different we tried all were sensational.

Attended a function at Laiko, it was absolutely superb! The food, service, ambiance was magnificent. I’ll be returning for more without hesitation. Laiko is a rare find in Melbourne if looking for delicious traditional Greek food.
My wife and I celebrated our anniversary there last night and had the Seafood Platter. We’ve had many a platter at various places and the platter we had there last night literally knocked our socks off. The fish was not only fresh, but tasty AF, the mussels tender and free of beards and gritt. The Prawns were HUGE but sadly cold (unexpected, but super fresh, soft and tasty). If you want the best and freshest seafood cooked like Mum would, go here guys. It’s seriously Home on a plate!!!
We just celebrated our son's baptism at Laiko and we cannot express how amazing the service was from Eleni, Bill and Co. What a wonderful family and a small business well worth supporting.
