Such a nice local cafe! Very relaxed area. Loved the food and the coffee. Will definitely be the place I’ll go for breakfast and lunch now!
Such a friendly local cafe, unpretentious, fantastic coffee and service. The food is of high quality and tasty. The decor is simple but comfortable. The location isn't on a main road for a change, making eating outside really pleasant in the warmer months.
Terrific cafe run by lovely warm people. The coffee is excellent and I'm a huge fan of the Bircher Muesli recommended also in these reviews by Split the Bill. One thing I really like -- showing my age here -- is their brilliant choice in music, going back to some classics of the 60s-80s, with a bit of jazz thrown in. Highlty recommended!
Got the smashed avo, added bacon. Very tasty, a generous amount of avocado for the toast and the bacon was cooked perfectly, not too crispy. Also got a hot chocolate which was nice but a bit small for $4.50. Staff were very friendly and easy going.
Nice cozy little place, staff very friendly food very fresh, smoothies even better, went on a very hot day with family had smashed avocado, lazy hash, nuggets and chips for the young one with Green smoothie, Mango smoothie and Chocolate shake.
This is a classic neighbourhood corner cafe serving simple, tasty food, served with a smile. My shakshuka eggs were nestled within a sauce boosted with eggplant and, although it tasted great, the eggs were a bit overdone for my liking. The coffee is really good here and the staff are wonderful, warm and friendly. It’s a local place I’ll be happy to return time and again.
Tasted a few items on the menu- the zucchini fritters, the lazy hash and the bacon and egg muffin. All were delightful! - particularly the zucchini fritters. The coffee here is to die for. The service couldn’t be friendlier and this cafe is particularly kid friendly. A relaxed cafe, in the back streets of Northcote. My toddler loves sitting outside and watching the train go by. Well done, guys!
So good, I've eaten the entire menu at every cafe in Northcote and this is the best by far. Get the Lazy Hash or the lamb stew or the pancakes, you can do no wrong...
I used to live four doors from this site in what was another life. A nice little spot it is too in the backstreets of Westgarth. The previous cafes on the site, Hugo's and Foxy Brown, were a bit up and down in my view. Sometimes good but sometimes a bit ordinary. Things are definitely looking up here. The menu looks much improved. The reports about the place from trusted locals are more positive. I popped in on the weekend but only for a coffee and some vegemite toast. I just wanted to gauge the feel of the place before I came for a meal. The feel is very good. The coffee was great. The seeded toast was excellent. The service was pleasant and upbeat. Time to return very soon.

I come to this cafe frequently and I thought I would add to my previous one. My new favourite dish is my Bircher Muesli, I could eat this day and day out and not get sick of it! I love the drizzle of honey that just gives it the extra touch!
The coffee is superb as always, I have not had a bad one yet and I often hear customers comment that the coffee is the best in the area! I have to say I would agree. My other half always has his scrambled eggs on toast with a side of chorizo. We love the service and once again the food is outstanding! Thanks again guys 👌
I thought it was about time I reviewed my local, South Crescent Cafe, which is a stone throw away from my front door. This local cafe holds memories for me as it was my local milk bar where I used to buy my mixed lollies before it became a cafe.
The cafe has a very relaxed casual feel and the staff always make me feel welcome. I normally stop here for my coffee fix. This morning I actually stopped by with my brother and thought we would have a snack and coffee.
I ordered the Mixed berry muffin and my brother had the Bacon and egg muffin. My mixed berry muffin was warm and had plenty of berry filling in the middle. The egg and bacon muffin was devoured quickly by my brother.
The flat whites were brewed to perfection as they always are and the service was prompt and friendly. Well worth making the trip down to South Crescent cafe for your caffeine fix and/or breakfast/lunch.
I will definitely keep supporting my local!
The neighbourhood cafe is back. Great coffee and just had a wonderful potato rösti. New management brought the standards back up. Yay! Maybe a rebranding would help them though as it was pretty bad for a couple of years.
Quiet little cafe in South Cres Northcote. I had the lazy hash from lunch menu. It was amazing. Potatoes were crunchy on outside and soft in the middle. Poach egg perfectly runny. Lovely staff.
Great cafe for all kinds of people, but as a family, we were happily surprised at how helpful the staff were at this cafe. Highchairs available, lots of space to manoeuvre a pram, nice courtyard out the back with toys. We found it so easy to relax as the staff made everything so easy. There is no kids menu, but we were told to ask for what we wanted and they would make it - cheese toastie for our little one. We will definitely be back! Oh, and the food was delicious!
Went to the Lazy Bean for a friends birthday and had a very enjoyable experience. The staff were really friendly and welcoming. The food was great! I had an apple juice which was really crisp and not overly sweet which was refreshing. They offer all day breakfast which is amazing 🙌. I had French toast which was delicious. It was served with custard and maple syrup👌. The toast itself was cooked to perfection and the fig jam in the middle was pleasant. I am definitely going to go back again 👍
I came into lazy bean after a recommendation from my sister, this place is great
It's hidden away, and the staff are so attentive and on the ball, I think it's under new management I came here a while back and it seems to have changed
Had a flat white which was great, the temperature and the crema were perfect, one of the best I've had
For a meal I got the breakfast bruschetta, this is one of the best breakfast dishes I have ever had, I don't no how this place isn't frantically busy with the coffee and food as good as what it is, and the staff as nice as they are, it's a mystery
Definetly will b back 👍🏼👍🏼😊😊
I came here with 2 of my friends last week and we will definitely be back.. Both the food and the service were of high quality.. The manager Anthony was polite, professional and very helpful in helping us select our meal and enjoying our experience
I had the croquettes and they were perfect.. The food the coffee and everything about lazy bean gets a perfect 5/5 from me.. Highly reccomend!
A cafe born out of what was once a residential home across road from a melbourne metropolitan train line.Fast friendly service, was greeted at the door and a bottle of water soon arrived with the menu. Was a good start as I really enjoyed the coffee, it was rich dark and full of flavour.
Here they have a Full service kitchen offering wide range dishes on their all day breakfast as well as their all day lunch menu and a kids menu. A very eclectic and relaxing environment with the choice of seating inside or out front under the verandah. They also have an outdoor courtyard in the rear of the cafe. Other services they offer which they proudly display is free wifi. Although there were only a few little ones, good news for parents with kids and especially new borns, Lazy Bean has been classified “ A baby friendly cafe” by HeyBambini.com.au
My choice was Eggs Benedict from their all day breakfast menu. It’s one of those dishes to try to get a gauge on how good the food really is.This was a cracker, this dish came with beautifully poached eggs, on a bed of English Muffins, pan fried spinach, English Cheddar cheese, free range ham and tangy Hollandaise sauce. A great meal for anytime of the day, perfect to kill any hunger pains fast or perfect to share if you just want a light snack to see you through. Great food, great coffee, great atmosphere, great friendly service - would definitely come back!

We bring our dad here some Saturday mornings for brunch. Great coffee and food and very friendly staff. Do yourself a favour and drop in and try it.
Love the smashed avocado and poached egg.
Simple but tasty, great service and a funky vibe. Menu with something for everyone and nothing too over the top. Very decent prices as well!
The staff are friendly and helpful, the decor is simple but works well.
sadly the food is just ok. I had a muffin from here this week as I only had time to grab and go and it was the driest banana chocolate muffin I've ever had. The non-egg options are very limited, and the menu makes it confusing to order your own mix and match meal so i was stuck with the pancakes (not a huge problem in life!). The pancakes were a little burnt and due to the addition of ice cream were quite cold but the mix was light and fluffy and the berry compote was simple but delicious.
If this is on my way somewhere I may stop back in, but if I'm not going in this direction already I wouldn't go out of my way to this place
Had a fantastic meal and coffee there this afternoon. Can't speak more highly about the food and service. The owner Dom is a lovely man. Great place.
Sunday Brunch. Amazing food & service
I came here a while ago when it was under a former name, the place has been taken over and WOW its amazing.
Very cute rustic but homely feel, very welcoming and friendly owners, who actually work here!!
The service was excellent, coffee was great but the food OMG! the food was amazing!!
Opting for the specials instead of the usual Sunday breakfast of bacon & eggs our eyes lit up on arrival of our beautifully presented menu items, out taste buds were tantalized with the amazing fresh flavors
We had the following
Thai sweet potato & roast capsicum soup
Poached eggs with slow cooked confit pork & potato rosti
Ricotta pancakes with banana and caramel glaze
This place is awesome
Always friendly w/ good food and coffee.
the history of this location is.. Foxy Brown was v.good, there was a (very) bad couple of months with a new owner; but third time lucky with Lazy Bean.
Fresh sandwiches & bagels, homemade pies, burgers, salads and pastries. all good.
This location def recommended again now as the newly badged Lazy Bean.
(wish they'd just paint the outside a solid colour though.. looks a little unfinished!)
Great chef. Had smashed avocado was amazing...great coffee..friendly staff..and service...presentation of food was great...well done to the chef
My friend had the special...french toast she said it was awesome, reasonable prices as well
We will be back :)
Great local cafe. Always love popping into this cafe. Good coffee great food and friendly service!
Great Exprience. When I first walked in I was welcomed with a happy smile, I ordered The Atlantic of the menu, really enjoyed every bite of it, the coffee was awesome. My overall experience was really great I didn't have to wait for long, I didn't feel ignored. the staff was very polite. I'm coming back with friends and family for sure, keep it up Lazy Bean.
Great local place, friendly vibe, great coffee and even better food.. Def coming back
