Review Caffe Buongiorno - Norwood

Chris Ho
Generous serving sizes and consistently good quality pasta. Personally my favourite carbonara in Norwood - 8.5/10. The atmosphere of the establishment is always a joy to eat in and the coffee is quite nice. Never been disappointed when dining here.

I absolutely love the atmosphere at Caffe Buongiorno! The Staff are super efficient, helpful & friendly- they literally run during the lunch hours! All day Breakfast plus so much more! Really nice Coffee & fresh juices, smoothies, etc. available. It's extremely popular so if you really want that table- make a reservation. Thank you for the wonderful service, vibrant atmosphere, friendly smiles & a very satisfying meal.

Don't know what you would call this but lasagne isn't it. No bechamel, barely any cheese just pasta and ham poured in a container with bolognaise sauce poured over the top. To be fair it tasted alright but lasagne it us not...

Amazing. The staff are very nice, the manager is cool and the food is sooooo good. Great portions and so tasty. If you love italian food you have to come here. It has a cozy vibe, just go and enjoy.

A great restaurant - service is fast and friendly - food is fabulous - tasty and reasonably priced - we have been dining out here in special occasions for many years - we have never been disappointed - highly recommended / best Italian restaurant in Adelaide / been eating here for many years - never dissatisfied - GREAT!!

Lovely atmosphere easy access unfortunately last Sunday morning slightly disappointed in service. Orders came late with food items missing usually toast and hash browns. The food we were served was really good. The atmosphere was your own to make. Even with restaurant 84% full we a table of 6 were able to be heard without shouting. Would be more pleasant if service improved and kitchen got the dishes fully served. Italian atmosphere magnifico!

Absolutely love the restaurant and one of the best middle range Italian spots in town. Their food is just out of this world, and the sauces are packed with full of flavours with great sized portions. I've been to the restaurant 3 times are evey time the food gets better. My go to dish is the Chillie prawn sauce and it pairs well with any type of pasta. In general the restaurant is packed and the staff could get the orders mixed up, but I can live with it as long as they apologise and fix it. Advance reservations recommended.

Good place for coffee and gelato. Food is good but not great and service could be quicker.

Avoid at all costs... . The owner is a rude pig . Allows smoking in undercover area, where they are not allowed . Don’t give him 1 cent off your money. Give your hard earned money to other small business, who deserve your support

I have only had coffee and cake at Caffe Buongiorno and the coffee is always consistently good. They also have a decent selection of Italian cakes which seem to be always fresh. #caffebuongiorno

Went here for my niece’s birthday, she was craving a big bowl of pasta and it delivered just that. Main sizes were great value for money at an average of $20 per pasta dish. However the flavours could have been better. Everyone was semi satisfied and the experience was so/so. I would maybe return for a casual dinner out with family.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
food/coffee: 4.5
atmosphere: 3
service: 4
alternatives: GF (golden and fabulous)
dog friendly: Outdoor seating is dog friendly
thoughts:

Ordered ravioli & Gnochhi
- very generous servings sizes -the ravioli was EXCEPTIONAL as was the sauce. the gnocchi was nice but lacked in size and shape but nevertheless flavours were all there - a busy and loud cafe with an authentic Italian menu - atmosphere when busy feels quite cramped and crowded. (Hard to move around to go to the toilet etc.) - service was fast and staff were very friendly from my experience
WILL BE GOING BACK FOR SURE

#foodieofadelaide (caters for Gluten Free)

I only have the same thing at cafe Bongiorno everytime I go there ... not sure why, but it just happens... and that's the amatriciana pasta... it's saucy, full of bacon and delish! Cafe buongiorno is always packed and you get a nice vibe from the waiting staff.. food price - reasonable for a cafe. overall: above average

Not he flashiest place on the Parade but it has stood the test of time. We have been coming to Norwood for 20 years and we will always drop in for a meal here. Pizza would be the pick of the menu items. The rest is ok too. Good for a simple meal with the family.

Living in the west, Norwood to visit is a treat. We felt like a breakfast at 1pmish and Buongiorno came through. Wife had smashed avo and I the hollandaise. I like this place, it has what I call grit and normalcy as an italian restaurant that the folks who run are just proud of. And i like that the staff are real people. Food came in good time and was frankly really tasty - I can still remember yes tomato with real flavour, and not too much hollandaise, just enough to add flavour. Spinach was flavoursome too. Eggs, and bread were excellent too. Very happy to come back.

They always have great food, particularly the pasta and pizza, great service and good coffee. My go to spot in Adelaide for lunch and dinner with friends, family and for a nice solo coffee. Since moving to Brisbane, I've been waiting out to come back and eat the Vegetariana pasta. Always cosy and the staff are super nice. Like a second home.

Service always top notch. Food always fresh. The staff here are so friendly, the food comes quick and tastes the best! Absolutely No faults :)

This is by far one of my favourite Italian restaurant in Adelaide! Always my go-to for amazing pasta. Really great service whenever I come here. One thing I can say is when it's packed, it's really noisy.
Steve Pratali
Great food Great staff, what more can you ask for in a Cafe?

It has a vast menu and is the !st Cafe which opened on the Parade.
Easy to get to and , there is more parking at the rear ( the first street on the Right Webb st ) off of Edward st.
Enjoy xx

This is quite an institution of a cafe on the Parade and is nearly always busy, morning through to late night! They do have nice pizzas here and the base is never soggy! The service has always been very prompt and friendly and I really think it would be nice if they started using table service, you have to line up to order food and drinks at separate counters and sometimes this can take quite a while. I remember one time having to line up to purchase a piece of cake (German apple cheesecake, yum) after my dinner, but I had to wait until the barrista had made 4 coffees first, handed them over to the customer, then I finally got served, mmmmm not the most efficient way to go. The interior seating is very jammed in and when busy is uber noisy, chuck a couple of prams inside and??? It's a great place for families though, as they cater to all needs. Outside is a better area to dine and not so noisy! I will return for pizza probably, but not too often as there are so many others to choose from, it kinda gets boring!!

Steaming hot coffee which is always a good start for me, though having read a couple of previous reviews, I have to concur that it was a little bitter. Good atmosphere. Efficient staff. Well attended on the day. Good enough for a drop-in.

Dinner with friends in Adelaide at Cafe Buingiorno because it was easiest.. It looks like the type of establishment that has been around forever. Menu is big with crowd favourites.. You order and pay at the bar first. Good comes out super quick. I got Pollo Zingara which was quite nice. All in all nice meal.

Caffe Buongiorna Norwood advertise + Breakfast + Lunch + Dinners + Meals + Late Meals + Eat In + Take Away + Alfessco. They offer an Espresso Bar, Pizzeria, Gelateria, Pasta Bar, Pasticceria, Ristorante, with Italian Beer, And Wines, making this Cafe a slice of Italian dining, with out the need to travel half way around the world. Understandably this venue is extremely busy, a vibrant Caffe. We have had lunch and dinner in this cafe on a number of occasions and have always found the dishes very well prepared and presented by efficient, friendly serving staff, with very little delay. If you desire to go Italian dinning then we have no hesitation in recommending this excellent venue. The covered well designed, sheltered alfresco area, alongside the front footpath, is very popular.

Family dinner? Caffe Buongiorno? Yes, Please. Use to be our go-to place when we couldn't be bothered deciding where to eat out for dinner as Caffe B would always provide us with a solid meal.

We usually go for the typical chicken parmi, steak and pizzas. In fact, this was where i had my very first chicken parmi and i've been addicted to it since then. Although its just a normal schnitzel with tomato paste and cheese on top, its always been an enjoyment to eat. The schnitzel is always crunchier with the perfect amount of sauce which doesn't make the schnitzel dry after putting it through the oven. The pizza though has always impressed me especially for a chain cafe. With a tonne of toppings, and different choices, the pizza was always the dish i look forward to the most.

Caffe Buongiorno's dishes may be relatively expensive in comparison to other cafes such as Cafe Primo, but the portion and the taste is well worth that extra buck!

Terrible service from management. Could cut the atmosphere with a knife! Coffee tastes like 3 day old grinds. Food mediocre. You couldn't pay me enough to want to come back here. Avoid at all costs!
Laura
Average - below average BUT the pizzas are actually alright for a 'chain' cafe. The pasta dishes are always overcooked and the sauces not fresh, so this particular Buongiorno is saved by its pizzas. The staff have always been lovely but that's not enough for me to keep going back - it was convenient when I was working in Norwood.

RUDEST STAFF THAT I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED!!!
The food was okay, but definitely not worth it. We asked if it was possible to get table water and the man in the ponytail responded in such a rude manner and said that "we should've ordered it when we went up to order our food". Also the rude...

Steak knife couldn't cut steak. Son wouldn't eat his meal.

Amazing service. Very good service! all staff were very nice! and the pizza is amazing!

Love stopping by for a pizza or calzone. Decent prices and good food.

Steak. We went there around 7pm, half of the tables were full. After placing our order, we found a table and waiting for our drink. The drink still had not come yet, usually did not take that long. We watched people who ordered after us get their meals. We sat there and wait wait wait! Our steak finally arrived, it looked yummy. After we tried it, which was not that worth for top dollar. Just not worth it!
Bianca Lee
Rude waitress. My goodness me, have never experienced such a rude waitresse. Food was reasonable but I could go across the road and have a much much nicer dinning experience. Perhaps waitress 'nadia' should take up a new career
MAC
Worst coffee I have had in a long time-so bitter and when I took it back they charged me for another one! Breakfast was well below average and the guy behind the counter were bordering on rude and obviously didn't want to be there
J
Risotto wasn't cooked properly... Waste of $20.
Ellie
Pizza is pretty poor quality but even worse was the service. My son wanted strawberry ice cream which I ordered. When he tasted it, it had no strawberry flavour and tasted like bubble gum. I questioned the waitress and she said that it was definitely strawberry yoghurt (not ice cream) and walked off on me. After spending $53 I was disappointed.

If you don't want a good meal go here! Been to this caffe many times+it was consistently good: never again! The minestrone was slightly red water with cubes of carrot+spinach inclusive of the scrappy white core. Not a bean in sight+flavour less. Risottos were quantity minus quality: gluggy+tasteless. We are not talking complex cuisine here, but at least grace your customers with ingredients true to dishes title. A waste of money, time+effort!!

More like caffe badgiorno!. I went to this place the other day, it was ok. I was served by some greek fuzznugget behind the bar, he was silly and not very articulate. That is what I look for in a man. If I could say something about the service, I would, but I wont. Too keep things simple, the best thing about Cafe Bravo across the road, is that it isn't Boungiorno.

A FAMILY AFFAIR. Ciao, Yiasas, G'day :-) this place always greets you with a warm welcome by Signoro Ron together with their lovely numero uno team, BRAVO!

We've been coming here for quite a while & adore the atmosphere, casual food, hot bevvies or a glass of two or three of vino, the tiramisu just delish.

It is a prized social hub of activity & it is just a gorgeous place to catch-up on socialite fun gossip.

:-) :-) :-)

The service here is crap. The seating is confusing. Generally you just stand there awkwardly until the giggling teenagers behind the bar greet you rudely and tell you to seat yourself. My partner and myself ordered our mains and drinks at the counter and had to go to another counter to grab them. We stood at the drink counter where the two boys behind the counter stared at us blankly and waited for us to say.... "errr.... We were told to collect drinks here....." they then looked for our order. If its protocol to collect drinks at the bar then why on earth is it not your first instinct to look for an order when someone stands there waiting???? Food was atrocious and bland. We had the pomodoro bruschetta, tortellini con pollo and ravioli nepolitana all which tasted like a big joke. We finished nothing, went home hungry. The old guy that seemed to be supervising was lovely. He may be the owner. If this is so, his staff are letting him down.

Horrible service, crap food. I went here with a girlfriend on Sunday night (was not overly keen on going to begin with).
Upon entering, the waitress walked past us SEVERAL times, and, rather than show us to a table, she simply gave us a filthy look. We stood there for a few minutes, unsure as to whether we should just grab a table or wait to be seated. I asked the young man behind the counter if we could sit where we liked, he replied with 'yes', then turned to another guy and giggled like a girl.
The pasta was absolute crap. Store-brought no doubt. Something I could have quite easily cooked myself. Waste of time and money.

Nothing to rave about. Went there on the weekend on the advice of a friend. It's one of those places where you order and pay at the counter, then they bring the food out. Except there are two counters. You have to order food at one, order drinks at the other. And carry your own drinks, which may involve a couple of trips to the counter.

Pomodoro Bruschetta - tomatoes were on the verge of rotting, not pleasant nor fresh. Very disappointing and if you can't get bruschetta right, it's not a great start to the meal.

Pasta - I had spaghetti amatriciana. Surprisingly it was a bit bland and the salt shaker got quite a workout. I thinks it's the first time I've ever put salt on an Amatriciana pasta!
Pizza for my sister, soggy base could have used another minute or two in the oven.
We left, without eating much at all and went down the road for dessert.

And a tip to caffe buongiorno, remove the sign from your window stating you won an award in 2005 - that's 8 years ago, if you haven't won anything since then it's time you improved both your food and your service!

Incapable of making a vegetarian pizza without meat on it. Today was the last time. Never again.
Kate
Horrible soggy pizza. Tonight I ate at Caffe Buongiorno, Norwood with 5 others and we were served a horrible, soggy, seafood pizza. The pizza came to our table covered in water and undercooked. The cook had clearly put frozen seafood straight onto the pizza base and it had leached water everywhere and not heated through. We didn't send the pizza back as we were in a hurry and didn't have time to wait for a replacement. I am highly unlikely ever to go back.

Very busy vibe and well serviced with staff. Can't help getting the feeling they want you out as soon as you finish. Food is what you can cook at home but can't be bothered with the dishes. Osso bucco very good but why they accompanied with tomato rice???? Still dont get that. Won't be racing back but food good
Casey Evol Stephen
Disgusting. Over priced salad made with rotten ingredients, artichoke should not be that dry and crunchy. Second attempt eating here, not happy
Ali Beach
Decent parmi's and nice pasta. Good size portions too. A good choice for an informal meal.
Cheesy Chelsea
Just 'OK'. Nothing special, average food, service was alright. The owner needs to stop staring at everyone.
Overall an 'ok' experience.

Smoker's cough. Dropped in for a coffee. It was bitter. Would probably appeal to smokers, though. This restaurant is located on a corner, with tables outside. They are mostly taken by smokers. And there's a cigarette dispensing machine inside the restaurant. I haven't seen that in a restaurant for about 25 years. In short, it's all good. If you're a smoker, or enjoy side-stream smoking.
Jaron
Poor all round, avoid at all cost, out dated decor, food undercooked (or was not microwaved enough) average service, weird guy (the owner) walking around putting all the staff on edge.
Brandy
Great food - never disappoints!. Our family has frequented Buongiornos for a long time as they have the best pizzas, gnocchi and veal scallapini and a good complementary wine list to go with it, friendly service and mature managers.
Adelaidefoodcentral
With about half a dozen stores across the state, the menu offerings are very typical of any Italian eatery. There are pizzas, pastas, salads, foccacias and meat dishes.

Sunday night dinner at an Italian restaurant not too far away from my sister's place, the ideal place to head to for something to help us wind down after a party-crazy long weekend (and hopefully get us tuned back into working mode!). As usual, there would be a variety of cakes, gelati ice creams and biscuits to tempt you with. House bread~ a must have at any Italian restaurants!:) Fettucini with bacon in a cream sauce~ simple but satisfying at the same time:) Buongiorno pizza~ pizza topped with capsicum, mushroom, olives and bacon pieces. Nothing too fancy but I am pretty contended with it:) I guess I am lucky to be able to drop by my sister's place on most weekends as it is probably quite an ideal food location. There's so many places to choose from and if all the shops are closed, one can easily head to the late night bakery for a good pie or sugar-y bun and maybe a cuppa?

Your reviewer tried his second Caffe Buongiorno recently. The Norwood Café is at 145 The Parade diagonally opposite Café Bravo . Like the Mitcham Café Norwood it is a big efficient Café although there are significant differences.
