GENEROUS SERVES
Service was a bit slow but always friendly.
The food was tasty & satisfying.
I had saltinbocca with 2 pieces of very tender & delicious veal, a huge serve of sometimes gritty spinach and roasted kipfler potatoes.
She had fusilli ragu, rich with falling apart veal chunks.
He had the special calzone which was a giant parcel of chicken, bacon, mushroom & cheese covered in bolognaise sauce. It really was huge and could easily be a meal for two.
There was a $1 takeaway charge for a pizza box for his leftovers.
Guaranteed good, hearty Italian food at Gusto. My go to dish is always gnocchi with ragu - it's not strictly on the menu but they are always happy to mix and match sauces. Service was attentive and friendly all night. Good selection of drinks. We started with an entrée of homemade sausage - beware this is a generous serve - so tasty though. The duck confit pizza was also excellent.
My first time in Adelaide and this restaurant made my trip worth the experience, in my opinion the food was authentic and fantastic. The service was fantastic, the atmosphere and vibes of the vicinity - pleasant. The guys/staff we spoke with - top notch blokes, had a good yarn and banter. Would without a second thought go back again and recommend!!
This is a place I frequent often because I love their crab pasta. The service is always a bit hit and miss - it ranges from very slow service to just average service. I've never had wonderful service here.
The last time I was here, the service had picked up a tiny little bit, but the crab pasta didn't taste as wonderful as it normally did. It was a lot heavier on the tomato sauce. I wonder whether perhaps there's been a change in ownership.
I always use my Entertainment Card when I come here, but I'm not sure if I would come here without my Entertainment Card, because apart from the crab pasta, there's not much here I like to eat.

I only come here for the gnocchi. Best in town thus far.... if i found better gnocchi i would go there. Service is always below average, randomly forgetting something, mumbling through orders, hanging around the table, talking to locals and chatting to regulars outside on the path. Just plain uncomfortable. In one minor instance i asked for a diet coke, he came back with a coke zero. "I said this isn't Diet Coke", he said "oh we dont have it". I said "Well i dont like Zero j am sorry", he said "It's the same thing"...I explained, no its different, which is why i asked specifically for Diet Coke... he continued off laughing and just walked away. I refused to pay for it! Seen a few little arguments between two guys on a few occasions, assuming they are brothers?!, but i literally come here for the soft pillow like clouds that melt in your mouth, not the service. Some time you just have to take the amazing with the average. I am normally all about service, but literally my score is for the food downgraded by what you have to put up with when you get it.
Love this place for good hearty large servings of Italian. Poppy's favourite dish is the crab linguine. Just look at those photos! Loaded with crab meat and chilli. Zucchini flowers were delicious as was the melanzane parmigiana! Can't wait for my next visit and next plate. Thumb up, definitely worth an eat.
Very good food with great table service. Entrée are very generous. Zucchini flowers are always a special treat. Always had a great meal here.
Fresh handmade pasta. Great food and prompt service! The food came out at very reasonable time and the serving sizes are generous. A must-go place to eat for good Italian food!
Lovely. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Gusto! Despite a more than half-empty large room with a sparse fit-out, surroundings were pleasant and our food was really good: well cooked, well sized and well priced. We had heard that the service wasn't much, but apart from an unfortunate (but sadly ubiquitous) removing-of-some-plates-while-others-are-still-eating situation, the service was pretty reasonable by Adelaide "standards". I'd certainly be happy to return!
Incredible value!. Myself and a couple of my girlfriends were in Norwood and thought wed give Gustos a go for dinner!

Food was amazing, the serving sizes here are HUGE! This is definitely an authentic italian restaurant the food was so yummy our pastas were to die for, My gnocchi was so light and fluffy, My girlfriends had the Porchetta and the crab pasta they both loved their meals and my gf said it was the best Crab pasta in adelaide! Sadly we didn't get to try their desserts as we were so full from our mains, definitely giving them a go on my next visit!
I was reading some bad reviews about this place but everything we experienced was fantastic, The staff were all really lovely and attentive and the girl serving its recommended our meals and had great knowledge of the menu. Definitley will return!
The Best Gnocchi I've ever eaten and that's every time - consistently delicious
Food was beautiful but had to wait 70 minutes for it. No bread to nibble on and had to ask to order. Terrible service.

I was a little surprised to read such negative reviews on here our family have been coming to gusto for years and years and have never experienced any problems!
We have always left satisfied with enormous serves and such a high quality meals every time we visit!
I think the meals here are amazing value for the prices. Especially the pastas they are amazing. Our family favourites are the Mare and the Blue swimmer crab pasta (best in Adelaide)
I must mention the home made gnocchi TO DIE FOR!! melts in your mouth so light and perfect not like frozen packet gnocchi that can be heavy and over filling!
We've always found gustos wait staff and management to be attentive polite and always very friendly! They always accommodate us even on busy nights (especially tonight, we had no booking and the girl raced around and got us a table)
Well done Gusto 10/10 and we will always be back!!!
Decent!. Had a voucher from Entertainment Book and used it on. Saturday lunch.
Was able to get in without a reservation and got served within 25 minutes.
Got a wood oven pizza and chicken salad. Both we're amazing and the portions very generous.
Wish we had more vouchers!!
I have had gusto a few times and always a good experience. Best pizzas on the parade. Went in tonight for dinner and was most impressed with the waitress. She was very professional and attentive. They had a good crowd for a Tuesday night and service was all within a reasonable time.
AMAZING FOOD. what a delight to our taste buds. Gnocchi was delicious (home made apparently). the wood oven pizza was by far the best I have had on the parade. Couldn't stop eating my partners pork belly too. Little noisy but understandable as it was full house. Large servings and price fair. WE ARE DEFIANTLY GOING BACK TO GUSTO TO EAT.
Hadn't been here for about a year and last nights meal was brilliant, gnocchi always great and fettuccine with eggplant was just amazing . Our waiter was the best too - great all round :) highly recommend
You won't get a bad meal here, and I might add its my wife's favourite place. Two things spoilt it for me last night, first, one of the waiters berated another waiter at the next table and in earshot, Secondly, part of the dinning experience is to enjoy a wine of your choice with the meal, my wine never came,interestingly by the waiter who berated the other waiter. Can this be fixed? Sure, and I will go again.
Positives and negatives with this place. Positive: the food. Serving size was great, the food was nice and tasty and rustic which is what you want from a Italian restaurant. Negative: some staff were a bit impatient and awkward. After politely refusing dessert we were almost instantly given the bill which made us feel like we were being kicked out, even though it wasn't busy or late. That put a real dampener on what was a good meal
Great service, great food. I can only vouch for my own experience with Gusto and on this occasion I was delighted with amazing service and fantastic meals. My partner and I arrived at about 945 on a Friday night- not that any of the staff made a big deal about our late timing! We weren't at all rushed by the staff. Our meals arrived in the exact order we requested, each looking and tasting outstanding. I have noticed a few bad reviews on here and whilst I've only been to gusto once, I'd like people to keep in mind that fewer people post 'positive reviews' than 'negative reviews' and sometimes I feel that that can unfairly impact upon a restaurants credibility on urbanspoon. Anyway, I guess I will have to see whether or not they are consistent next time!!
The best Veal Saltinbocca I can remember having for the last 5 years. Service & atmosphere pleasant.
Have been many times and really enjoy it. but it is true that they can be hit and miss. I find they overload on chilli alot which can put people right off. hopefully they find some consintency because it is a great place
I love the ragu but the food can be up and down at Gustos. There is a particular staff member there who is very rude and abrupt even his phone manners are terrible. After ordering my main I then ordered another meal for takeaway for my partner it sat on the bench for 20 mins without moving after telling that staff member in particular he argued with me that it wasn't 20 mins, so while I do like the food rude staff are a big NO NO and will not be returning my business there

Lovely food!. I went to Gusto last night. Although it took a while for the staff to take our order, but we didn't have to wait that long for the food to come. Crab pasta is the best. Love it.
Great food and drinks on the menu- if you want a good beer you'll pay through the nose but it's worth it. Any pasta is worth trying- delicious!

Gustonomincal.. When we walked in (on a Tuesday night at 7.45pm) the place was packed. Much too noisy inside for our liking so we opted for an outside table. I never understand these places where they have a semi-open kitchen & tiled floors with metal chairs, it doesn't make for a quiet meal?
We ordered the pork & fennel sausages to share for entree. A large serve & the flavours were gorgeous but it didn't look particularly appealing. There were two slices of slightly burnt & very hard ciabatta on top. For a dish with so much sauce I would have served a few slices of some lovely warm bread.
For mains I ordered the pork belly & my partner the seafood risotto. We waited about an hour for these to come out but that was no big issue. The pork belly was very nice, the beans spot-on & the berries added to the dish. Sadly, it was accompanied by a woeful slice of something (polenta?) that can only be described as a slab of fried breadcrumbs. That let the whole dish down, and the overall flavour seemed to be lacking a little something (and that little something wasn't breadcrumbs!)
However, my partner's risotto was AMAZEBALLS. I can honestly say that over the years I have tried risotto on a few occasions & always found it to be a gelatinous mess. This was a taste sensation & had a gorgeous consistency. It was full of big, juicy prawns & was HUGE. I could have gladly forked him in the eye for it.
Overall, the service seemed a little haphazard, although all the waitstaff were very friendly. The wine list is good & the menu impressive. We'll definitely go back, next time for a risotto of my own & the crab linguine that everyone is banging on about!

Impressed. Our first time at this restaurant. Initial impression was that the place was very busy and not as 'flash' as we had expected.
I had read that the serves tend to be large so we opted for a garlic bread to share and a main course each, thinking we could always add to our order if need be.
Next time I would skip the garlic bread. It was nothing great (a little burnt actually) and we certainly should have started our mains with an empty stomach!
We both ordered the crab linguine and it was huge! With masses of blue swimmer crab meat and loaded with flavour it was an excellent choice. Really, really nice.
No room for dessert or any side dishes. Managed to fit in a good bottle of red though. :-)
The waiting staff were attentive, knew their product and seemed to actually enjoy working there. Rare. Our waitress Catherine (Katherine? ) was just lovely.
Am basing the review of the food here really on one dish as we both had the same thing. It was superb and we will certainly return hoping the other choices prove to be as impressive.

Came here during the week with family, no booking just rocked up... What great food & service. Lucky I did not read any reviews before coming as it may have put us off. I'm not sure why they have so many negative reviews but I would definitely recommend to others & will definitely be back. Keep it up Gusto, I think you're great (especially the eggplant parmigiana - perfect!!) :-)
Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable of the wine and food. The food was great, good wine list at reasonable prices. Overall would recommend to go and I certainly will return
