Love this place! A chic, beautiful interior; fabulous staff who are both friendly and efficient; and absolutely scrumptious food! It's hard to pick favourites, as the menu's full of must-trys, but the green jumble (which is so full of goodness it'll set you up forever), the Korean-style fried-chicken burger and the more-more-moreish zucchini fritters rate a special mention. This is a gem of a cafe.

One of my favourite cafes - great food, service and coffee to die for. They are happy to cater for all dietary requirements and I’m blessed to have them so local.

Loved this little place. I had been wanting to visit since it opened however I am not from the area so it’s hard to get there during the week (when it’s open). I enjoyed my flat white and corn flake crumbed chicken burger. The service was prompt and friendly with decor that is quirky and sweet.

Ok. All I have had is the bacon and egg brioche rolls (complete with delicious homemade sauce) as their $10 deal for coffee and rolls is too good to go past so every time I’m on rooks road wanting a quick snack it’s little Hugh’s who keep the standard up every time. And it’s now six out of six times.

The first thing that struck us was the smart interior and the smiles from the staff
The cafe was noisy considering it wasn't full and the tables are very close together
We had the fritters and a beef burger. Both were excellent with great taste and freshness
We will be back to taste more of the menu.
Great 👍🏿 to see such good food provided in a strip of shops in an industrial area

As a born and bred Melbournite, I can tell you when that wind-chill factor drops sometimes it feels like only a hot bowl of soup will do. Imagine then my dismay at arriving to find the Spring menu had started so that soup was off the boil. Things were looking dire, that was until I was handed the aforementioned menu. Hope sprung upon seeing a dish titled 'Campfire Baked Eggs'. Spicy maple and whisky baked beans with two eggs, confit tomato, Persian feta and grilled bread. The option of chorizo for a small extra charge, though I stayed meatless for this dish. Maybe, just maybe, this would be a saving grace. I'd give it a go.

The one issue I have with baked eggs is that so often, they end up 'dead', so hard and dry, as to be enough to turn the whole dish away. I was told these eggs would be 'medium'. What arrived was a pair of perfectly cooked and still soft eggs in a single cast-iron dish filled with gently sweet (couldn't detect 'spicy' but I do like things quite hot) sludge of well-cooked baked beans. Four ready-to burst vine-on cherry tomatoes were perched on top with a final garnish of baby herbage. This dish, with a golden doorstop of toast left me wondering who would want soup, when this is an option? Warmed me to my core. Honestly, it's not 'just' baked beans and eggs - for those who have disdain for the poor old baked bean!

Determined to return to try the slow cooked pork neck with mac and cheese croquettes and hollandaise (Hugh's Benny).

Staff went out of their way to ensure I got what I was hoping. There is banquette seating in a lovely royal jade colour and the free-standing seats with their bucket shape and angular design are pleasingly comfortable. Water is brought to the table as you are seated, there are real pepper grinders left on each table.

Only open Monday to Friday, but must find an excuse to be here again soon.

Went to Little Hugh for the first time with my daughters today and found a really well set up cafe. The decor is very modern and the counter area over powers the room. The space allocated for tables almost appears an after thought, if not a little cramped. The menu has a good range of options, we tried the Happy Cow, Hugh's Benny and a Croissant, all were quite good although the Happy Cow could do with other fillings. The coffee was very good and worth the visit on its own.

My friend showed me this cute little place. The decor is reminiscent of an inner city cafe with the laid back attitude of the suburbs. Haven't tried the food yet but the coffee is great. Would definitely recommend!

The other reviews here must be from spoilt rich Toorak mums. The food is fantastic, especially compared to what else is available locally. This place would be a go to in camberwell, nevermind the tradesman heavy area around rooks road.

Great business plan:
-Hard working men in the kitchen providing consistently high quality food in a timely manner
-Lovely girls out the front with impeccable manners and service
-The coffee is fine, not particularly strong but rather a sweeter blend with the right amount of bitterness. Coffee is almost entirely subjective so I can't value any reviews criticising the coffee. My partner and I have always been perfectly happy with it.

Had the No chicken no cry twice now and both times it was ok without being amazing. Well put together but definitely lacks a bit of a kick. Nice comfortable vibe for a midweek place. Coffee a bit hit and miss.

Great effort at decor! The patterned walls and ceiling really gives you a sense of being somewhere unique, topped off with the matching chairs and blue hue of on their dessert cabinet. Even the menu itself has some extra thought put into it.

I had 'No chicken, no cry' - the creatively named version of their spicy chicken burger. It was well made and tasty, though lacking anything extraordinary. The coffee was very well done as well! Keep up the good work!

This is a lovely little cafe tucked away on the busy Rooks road. The decor has a fresh and modern vibe with lovely staff. Little Hugh has an impressive menu with a handful of cabinet options including a few stunningly presented desserts. It was so hard to choose with so many great sounding options but I finally settled on the sweet potato and haloumi fritters with a chai latte. The chai came quickly - looked and tasted great. The fritters followed soon and were presented well in a gorgeous plate. So overall I enjoyed the fritters - the corn salsa and pumpkins hummus complimented them well but by the end of the first fritter I found I was struggling to get through the dish. They are quite heavy being deep fried and a tad salty the more you ate. Whilst the flavours are great, I feel the dish needs to come with another complimentary flavour that freshens the palate in between bites such as avocado or a tomato salsa. The corn salsa doesn't quite cut it. Overall I was really happy with the cafe and with so many great options I will definitely be heading back to try them out!

Have been a Hutch regular since it opened and now I love heading out to Nunawading for Little Hugh. Awesome food, great menu and coffee is just as good. The girls are always nice and the setting is great - can never go past the desserts in the window.

Food was delicious! Ordered the smashed avo! (See photo) fresh and delicious - added bacon too! Coffee was good, sad to see the cold drop wasn't on the menu anymore. Will be back to try the many juice and lunch options!

Hutch & Co is my favourite place for brunch, so I'm super excited they've opened another cafe. Little Hugh doesn't disappoint! Coffee is great. Service is great - staff are really friendly and service is quick. And the food was absolutely delicious, just like Hutch & Co. Smashed avocado is fresh and tasty, well seasoned, with yummy flavours, and a good serving size. Only disappointment is that they're only open weekdays, but I'm sure they'll open weekends soon. Decor is lovely, modern and bright. Perfect!

Had been trying to get here for months now but was tricky as they're not open on weekends yet. This is the little brother to Hutch and Co in Lilydale. We really enjoyed the food and it looked pretty on the plate too. I had chocolate French toast with berries which was really yum. It was served with a slab of over cooked honeycomb which it didn't need and I didn't eat but apart from that, very enjoyable. We found the music a little loud but the friendly staff were happy to turn it down a little when we asked. Coffee was good although I like mine a little stronger. Quite a small cafe. Will definitely be back when they open on weekends which they told me was on the cards.
