Review Italian Touch - Oakleigh

Gorgeous little restaurant with great atmosphere, the food here was some of the best Italian I’ve ever had in Melbourne. Authentic Italian cuisine with lovely staff, who are very accommodating of dietary needs. Highly recommend their roast vegetable gnocchi for any vegetarians out there!

I’m disappointed to write this review. I understand the last two years have taken their toll on many small businesses, but this restaurant needs to touch up its act. The only thing I can recommend is the wine list. The service and the food were almost non existent. When we arrived, there were four people in the restaurant. We made eight. Not too stressful surely? However, the waitress was obviously very new. She knew little about the wine or menu. But why bother when the owners don’t either? Considering the way she was treated, I’d be surprised if she returned. Eight people obviously was too much for him. Entree:
Our Mussel entree consisted of ten mussel shells and nine mussels. Rookie error. The meatballs, although apparently tasty, had been microwaved and reheated. The bruschetta was dry toast with thin slices of tasteless, pale tomatoes, large blobs of mozzarella and a few drops of balsamic. No basil. No red onion. No taste. Mains: I’ve never had Spaghetti marinara like this before. The homemade thin spaghetti was doused in a thin tomato sauce, but sadly, collected in a congealed pile in the bottom of my bowl. This was topped with one prawn, one scallop, two dry mussels, small chunks of calamari and two lumps of fish that were full of cartilage! The prawn was delicious but I don’t appreciate chomping on large pieces of fish bone. Gnocchi and carbonara were satisfactoty. Dessert. We finished with the special” - Espresso martini ripple cake”. Surely a dessert redemption! No. It really was a small section of Chocolate ripple cake, a la 1980. Four chocolate ripple biscuits sandwiched with cream with a slight hint of coffee. All smothered in more cream with shaved chocolate and a malteser on top, all for $14! Sorry, but I was expecting more… We had been looking forward to this dinner, but unfortunately we were greatly disappointed and underwhelmed. If the chef had bothered to ask if we enjoyed our meals when service finished we would have told him, however he was more interested in whatever was on his mobile and barely grunted as we thanked him and left.
Faulty Towers atmosphere, but sadly, not a Polly in sight to rescue the situation. Life is too short for bad food.

We had the seafood platter last weekend. Beautifully balanced between fried and sautéed and absolutely delicious!! Definitely going back.

Got there at 11:30 and were offered breakfast menus, so had mushroom & egg toast and a toastie. Although the food was nice, the service wasn't great and the prices seemed high for what you get. I might try again for lunch or dinner based on other reviews, but wouldn't do breakfast again.

Food itself isn't bad, but nothing special. Mostly disappointed by the prices it should be a lot better. $23 for the gnocchi that isn't fresh just feels a bit much. Positive is the good customer service

Been here many times with no acknowledgement that I'm a regular but wasn't going to die in a ditch over it. However, this morning I experienced the owner a) screaming at an employee and b) following up by throwing a cup at them. Never again.

Located in corner. Parking can be a bit of a hassle. The place is nice with nice paintings. The staff members are helpful and the food selection is good. The food is severed in a timely order. The cofee is good and I would recommend the cofee. A table can be booked online which is convenient of busy weekends. I was very satisfied with the place and will visit again.

Absolutely love this place! Friendly service, delicious and inexpensive food from a wide ranging menu and a very cozy setting! My go-to place to bring friends or family for an easy breakfast.

I called in for a coffee here and the service was really good. Professional and quick.

My latte was perfect, it had some great milk froth, and the coffee provided by Four Rascals coffee was really tasty. And I really like the stools at the counter to have your coffee.

They have a good range of traditional cocktails such as spritzers and Negroni. Mmnn next time lol

This place is definitely worth a visit.

Great restaurant with delicious authentic cuisine and nice coffee! The service is efficient and welcoming. I love how cosy the restaurant feels too, unlike some of the packed out places along that street. Would definitely recommend to a friend!

I had strong flatwhite coffe and pasta.
Even though I ordered strong, I couldn’t taste any coffee flavour. It was too watery.
And the pasta was too salty and not good portion.
But the staff was very friendly.

Went here for breakfast and being a bleak cold morning not too many people around ordered the avo on toast with poached eggs feta and diced tomato and that was very nice the missus ordered poached eggs bacon spinach and mushrooms and that was a huge feed and also nice would recommend for breakfast!! Could of had a beer but a bit early #drunklife good value 2 meals with coffee under $50

Went in this place at dinner time on Good Friday. The other cafes in Oakleigh were packed with patrons, and we picked this place simply because it was empty and quiet. We want to get some work done on the laptop, so we ordered drinks first and think of having food later.

I asked the manager if they have power point for customer. The answer was “we are not a cafe, we are a restaurant selling food, you have to order food to use our power point”. We paid for the drinks and left.

This place has no service. The manager is rude. Shocking! Despite we live in Oakleigh, we are for sure will never go back to this place again. Strongly not recommended!

The food was fantastic and coffee was exactly how I like it - everything was just so full of flavour. The service was great, very attentive and friendly. It was a perfect food experience for me.

My wife and I had the 13 course degustation dinner menu with the home wine selection. The flavours of the dishes were stunning. Mediterranean spices added hidden surprises and lifted the intensity of some of the dishes. We each had our favourite dishes but the plates were all empty when we had finished with them. The 2 hours duration was a perfect way to enjoy all of the courses. The espresso coffee was a great way to finish. Definitely, a perfect way to spend some quality time in Oakleigh.
