My wife and I finally found some time to have a date night and they have done it again. Every time we go everything is always perfect. The cob for an entree is always perfect an fresh then what ever meal we have is always perfect and very well priced.
It's understandable that the best thing to do is book and make sure you can get a spot.
This is by far our happy place and our only disappointment is that we can't be there more.

Love this pub never had a bad meal yet, reminds from when we in the UK last yr good old english pub which we loved over there we had or favorite one stoped into everynight after we had been out and about have recommended this pub to many poeple have been up there lots with family for my bithday and with freinds as well everyone loved it and the food too Yum ..�

Amazing place. Might look pricey at first but wait till you see the size of the meals. Had Chicken parma, Fish'n'Chips and Beer Pot Pie. Divine. Service was great. Very polite and friendly staff. Atmosphere of an old English pub with light wood smoke in the air and ale scent. Definitely will come back again! :)

Honestly one of the best parmas I've had. Soft and tender inside and really crunchy outside, generous amount of sauce and cheese - just divine. Good friendly service too.

Always sit in the half outside half inside section except last night we sat inside. It was travs 27th birthday so Nath, Yul, Jono ( he left early cause he had Indoor soccer) Travis and also myself were there. Was gonna go play darts after but we were all too tired so we went home.
Went on a sunny winter morning with husband and two dogs.
Service wise- 3 stars. I had to get my own cutlery and water as there doesn’t seem to table service for those sitting outside, even though we were there at 11am and we were the third table there. Disappointing.
Food-4 stars. Really like the huge serve of schnitzel and salad. Enough for two people to share. Schnitzel was moist in the middle and crunchy on the outside. Yum! Pork belly on the other hand was tender, and the sauce went well with the mash.
We’d be back for sure, but hopefully this time we’d get proper table service.
Worthwhile to check out in Olinda. Better than any other cafes in the area.
Wow what a beautiful little old style English pub. If your after a decent feed this is the place. The sausages are amazing. And what better way to wash it down then with a pint of old speckled hen
Great atmosphere! Make a booking before you go if you are going with a big group. Love their kids meal which basically a smaller version of quality adult meal. Our toddlers love their pork sausage and mash. We love the pomme platter! Bread is fresh and super tasty!
A gorgeous old-style pub that is exactly what you want for a generous-sized meal. Schnitzel is the size of a full plate and very fresh. Atmosphere is authentic and interesting. Service was attentive and menu was excellent and could cater for everyone. Definitely worth a stop in if you’re in the area!
Love this place! My only issue is the cramped restaurant. We ask to sit in the bar instead which is super lovely when the fire is lit! Food is perfect English style cooking and the complimentary schnapps and choc cup just add to the charm!

April 2018: Still good , bring my mum there, love their pork rib but their nachos is so so. Pork belly is $26 for larger portion, worth it!
Feb 2018: My Hubby likes this place, said that their cooking is always consistently good. He gave a 4. However, surprisingly my kids are totally disappointed with their food. Not sure is it because its the last day before the holidays or they thought that Kids Meals are not worth putting extra thoughts to them as the kids will not border. I am totally disappointed with them. My daughter likes the chips more than the fish, and my son said their food tasted liked they were cooked like mass-canteen food. Furthermore, the banana shakes tasted so artificial, with banana syrup and milk....Forget about the kids'meal. The adults' ones are actually really good. The "melt in your mouth" pork belly(small portion) is really filling for me and the steak my hubby order is really cook to perfection. We had their desserts before and find them quite good. Overall they are worth it if you pick the right meals. Price wise, on the high side but once a while, is good to spend a little for an enjoyable meal.
Such friendly and accomodating service found at the Pig and Whistle. Ordered the piggery platter, the small serving of the pork belly and the chicken and veg pot pie. All parties very happy with everything that cane out of the kitchen. Tasty and with decent prices! I would def rec this place to not just those driving by, but those willing to make a trip out :)
Awesome kids meals, my daughter ordered pork belly and veggies as her meal for $10 which we both thought was great value. Good option if you're a carnivore, not so great if you're a vegetarian. Service was wonderful, I would come back but only for a wine, fresh bread and for the kids to eat and play and save room for my veggies elsewhere.
Generous servings and a nice cosy place for a meal in winter. I had a chicken and leek pie which was delicious & my partner enjoyed his parmigiana.
Cosy, welcoming pub up in the hills. Generous food at reasonable prices and friendly staff. There's a front room with screen that would probably be ok for pints and the footy, but this is probably not the place for a big night out. The rest of the place is filled with tables. Nice spot for down to earth pub grub.
I really enjoy this place. Service is a bit better than average but I love the English family pub atmosphere. Especially in winter. Getting a table by the fire and the enjoying a nice cold beer and a good pie. If your after a low key place for a casual catch up with a mate then this is a good place for that.
Second time we have been back to Pig and Whistle! Steak was cooked perfectly and the chicken Parma was huge!!! Great service and atmosphere, definitely will be back 😀
Great little gem located up in the Dandenongs have been here numerous times and never disappointed all I can say is get the pork belly it's amazing great selection of drinks and food a great little cozy place to visit on a cold night
Our lunch at the pig and whistle in Olinda was lovely and met with warm hospitality. The portion sizes are HUGE so come with an empty stomach. The food was great pub-fare & reasonable in price. Great selection of beers & British treats for sale if that's your thing. Thank you!
Took my partner here for his 30th. He ordered the Piggy Parma which was HUGE and delicious. The ham was not too thick and every layer was perfect. I had the Pork Belly which was cooked to perfection and was perfectly matched with the beans and the yummiest of sauces. Price was very reasonable for the size of the meal and the young lady that served us was super friendly. Will definitely return :)
Beautiful pub out in nature. Fantastic meals on offer, pies, parmas, calarmari, pork, fish! Can't go wrong. Service was friendly and attentive. Would recommend if in the area :)
Had a lovely lunch here last week. I ordered the pommy platter and it was enough for 2 people, it was that big. Loved the curry sauce and the sausages were delicious. Cost atmosphere with the open fires set in a beautiful location.
Absolutely loved it. Steaks were great, Pinot noir perfect, atmosphere buzzing. Wish it was my local. Went on a cold winters night and wanted it to snow so that we would get snowed in and never have to leave.
Our food experience here was great - hearty, heart warming english food served by the fire on a cold day! Fish & chips, parma & pot pie were so good all plates were cleared! Staff were probably a bit too relaxed & could probably do with some more restaurant training, although at the end of the day it is a pub and the food did make up for it! We had a wine tasting at the joined winery in the bar - the waitress really needs to go on a wine tour & see how it's properly done. Also comments about past & present owners don't need to be shared with your customers. This alone let the whole pub down unfortunately.

This always been my favorite, their roast pork belly is indeed special, and i love their pesto bread and antipasto platter.
whenever i visit mt.dandenong then i will definitely visit this restaurant as well.

This place holds its own as a great place to get a nice English pub style meal. The onion gravy is delicious. Delicious Comfort food but it is a little high in price.
visited pig&whistle for dinner on Monday with whole family, while we stay in Olinda during a 2 day tour to Dandenong Mountain.
just wanna say: most satisfying meal I ever had in a decade.Â
We ordered pesto cheese bread, fishing chips, snapper, chicken involtini, roast pork belly. We shared the dishes among us and love every single of 'em.Â
The only downside (if this counts) is that we had to seat at a table on the highest deck outdoor, bit cold for my little boys, because I really didn't expect that a restaurant 50 Km away from the CBD need booking
One of the reasons I like visiting the Dandenong ranges - this place is great! We ordered the chicken parma, fish and chips , pork belly and lemon lime and bitters - it all tasted great. Â The portions are huge and the price is okay for the quality and size of the dishes.
Great food at an even better price. Lovely setting and friendly staff. I'm sure we will be coming back soon. $9 for a pint of London Pride gets my vote every time!!
Best parma!!! It's absolutely huge (possibly unnecessarily huge) but the cheese is perfectly melted, reaches the sides, and the chips were yummy too. Staff have been lovely the times we have ventured up the hill.
Fully met expectations. Busy, noisy, crowded for a wet weather Sunday lunch. Staff were busy but maintained a friendly service and pacing was fine. We had the Xmas in July three courses which was great value. The food was hearty and tasty, in generous portions, with the slow pork a particular delight. I tasted the Speckled Hen stout which topped off the Irish a pub experience nicely.
Came here on a cold day at 11am, so the heating only just started which meant that we ate our entire meal in the freezing cold environment, even though we were right next to the fire. Service was minimal - had to wait for a while to be taken to our table, had to chase the waitress to order a beer and after our meal was served, no wait staff paid attention to us anymore. We shared a Piggy Platter between the two of us and it was plenty. Bread was warm and crusty and the other components were tasty.

Although the standard menu is a little boring, I would not be surprised if the Pig and Whistle Tavern can produce your favourite meal a cut better than most pubs, judging by the strong recommendations from everyone, the plates we saw pass us by and their ability to produce this excellent risotto.
Excellent lunch on a busy day. A full house for Sunday lunch on a long weekend can often mean serving delays and frustration - but not here!
6 well cooked main courses and desserts were well presented; there were plenty of capable and efficient staff, all within great pub surroundings. Plenty of drinks choice too - London Pride especially good! Well done to all the staff!!

Country Food for a Good Price. This is my to go pub when I am in the area. The atmosphere is relaxed; staff are friendly and know their menu well. It is not trying to pretend to be something it's not. From the massive outdoor seating to the piggie platter, it says country pub through and through. Deco is worn, but provides a warm feeling. Food is hearty and delicious. Unlike the new trend modern food, the food sings with classic flavours. Coupled with a reasonably priced menu, makes this my favourite pub in Melbourne. The meal is finished with a complementary chocolate cup filled with schnapps. A happy ending indeed.

A very satisfying Friday lunch. My wife and I enjoyed a day in the Dandenongs, including lunch at the Pig & Whistle. We just dropped in without a booking. It's a quaint tavern with an interesting old world ambience. The welcome from the staff was very friendly and efficient. We quickly had our selection of ciders and had ordered our meals. The waitress was very helpful in advising on serving sizes although we also had the assistance of photos on the Urbanspoon site. We went for the signature dish of Pork Belly and the good old reliable beer batter fish and chips. For a starter, we shared a plate of lemon pepper crumbed calamari with a greek style salad - very tasty. Fortunately we shared, because it was a very generous serving for a starter. The main dishes were also quite generous in size. The fish and chips met our expectations; the pork belly was very good but we have had more tender meat elsewhere. We were both "stuffed" but we wanted something sweet with coffee so we went with the sticky toffee pudding with caramel sauce - really yummy. We took our time over the meal so the generous servings were not a strain on us but we skipped dinner tonight! Service was attentive and friendly. The room was not too crowded; while the tables are close to each other, the background noise of the hum of conversation gave us some privacy in our own conversation. Overall, we enjoyed our experience and will be back there for more.
I can not speak highly enough about this place. The food is always delicious, the staff is friendly, the service is great and the atmosphere is just perfect. Their pumpkin soup is possibly the best I have ever tasted. If you want a good meal for a great price I would definitely go here. Have been many times and will most certainly go many more.

The service was exceptional, a credit to this restaurant and something many other establishments could learn from. There was a lovely woman serving us - she was a credit to the Pig & Whistle.
The ambience was lovely.
The food was simply perfect - pie and chips - best pie ever, real chips. Effort had been put into creating a beautiful pie at a very reasonable cost, we were highly impressed.
Every now and again you stumble upon a place that every establishment should be like - this was one of them.
We will definitely be back.
Good pub grub. The Pig + Whistle does not try to be what it isn't. This isn't a place for a la carte or fancy dinners. They'll not be troubling the Michelin judges any time soon.
If you have simple needs and want huge portions of good pub grub (washed down with British beers) then this is the place to be.
I like it however it's not for everyone - as long as your expectations are managed then it is worth a trip. (Particularly recommended for a cold Sunday afternoon up in the hills in Olinda. Nothing much beats a roaring log fire, pub grub and a pint of Stella)
