Review Olinda Tea House - Olinda

Q H
My family and I dined here on Good Friday on the $66 set menu and left extremely satisfied. Everything came out not only aesthetically pleasing like the venue itself but delicious and filling. The portion was very generous hence why we had to leave with takeaway boxes. The star dish apart from their signature dessert stand (which is a must order) was Stir Fry Eggplant with Potato with Sweet Soy Sauce and their Pickled Tomato that was apart of the assorted cold dishes, the sweet and tangy flavours worked very well. It is very fitting for large groups and would recommend for a nice little getaway from the busy city chaos.

High- Tea Location is a lovely venue in mount Dandenong that is highly recommended if you want to be in nature and away from the city for the weekend. The desserts and food stands were fresh and visually stunning! They provide you with good quality tea and you can request them to fill up your teapot as you go. The scones and jams were also fresh, and we were allowed to take the rest of our desserts home. Also, you can tell them your dietary requirements and they change them for you. Also, you can request more savory items or sweets as you like. There are few animals out in the garden, you can feed them as well.

We went here for dinner as we were in Olinda for a little getaway and let me just say I'm still thinking about the food absolutely delicious! The pork dumplings were the best I've had, ribs were but sized and so tender and the star was the honey chicken so delicious and fresh wow. We got the chicken for dessert and that was nice little dessert to finish off the night. The service was spot on, so glad we came here!

Always see this on my Instagram and finally had a chance to be there. Oh boy do I like it? I love it! The High Tea was delicious and the service is unbeatable. My partner and I are savoury person and the lady said next time we can request the High Tea to be changed to the savoury instead of too much sweet. She also said that because we paid for not little money so they wanted to make sure we enjoy our time here. What a lovely person. The view is amazing and just perfect for us.

Very tasty and beautifully presented food, more than enough, we had to take some home. I worried that the kids high tea would not be generous enough, but my daughter also couldn't finish her food. Lovely gardens and the kids enjoyed feeding the alpacas. I will visit again.
Rowena Johnson
Had the high tea which was fun! Got to sit on the deck on a swaying chair which was actually really relaxing, especially with tea and the snacks. The amount was definitely enough for two people, we couldn’t actually finish everything, but we were able to have a taste of it all, and it was amazing. It is in a beautiful area and was fun to explore around the garden too.

Loved it! Everything tasted amazing and there was a good balance of sweet and savoury. The waitress serving us was lovely and polite. The place itself was beautiful with gardens out the back that you can walk around in. It's definitely one of the better high tea places that I've been to and I highly recommend trying this place for yourself.

For my early birthday treat, I wanted to try this place out. All I can say is, I wish there was a tad more savoury than sweet, but the food was overall good. Service was a tad slow at the beginning, but the waiter that served us was lovely. The atmosphere was nice. Thank you for the experience.

Took my husband out for an early birthday lunch date to experience their Asian fusion lunch. Our experience was absolutely perfect in every way. From the greeting on arrival to the choice of indoor or outdoor sitting area - we chose outdoors, as it was a perfect Autumns afternoon with the sun shining directly onto us, surrounded by all the beautiful autumn colours on the trees around the gorgeous gardens. The food was superb. It is the best chinese food we have ever had. Servings are large yet absolutely fresh and delicious! We cannot wait to go back, and will be making it a regular place to visit for a meal for sure....If you haven't been and are thinking of going - stop thinking - just go -you won't be disappointed.

Beautiful place, great services, tasty food, what more could you ask for? I celebrated my 21th birthday here, we hired out one of the small gazebos so we could have a little space to ourselves. It was a busy day on the sunday and everything still ran smoothly, the staff were very accommodating making, sure everyone was happy and well. The distance between the kitchen and the gazebos are a fair distance apart, staff running a mini marathon to get the food out on time. Everything was beautifully presented and pre-preparation for the event was easy to organise. I even got an authentic ceramic tea set as a gift from the venu and i could not be more surprised and thankful. I would highly recommend Olinda Tea House for casual dining, special events, functions and meetings, you name it, you wont be disappointed.

The place is truly a gem in the hills the service is fantastic and the staff a real credit to hospitality the setting and decor is lovely. The food is some of the best Chinese I have had. I dined with Chinese friends and two of the standout dishes we had met the highest scrutiny of good fresh produce and a high skill of flavor balance. The food presentation went the extra mile with attention to detail a real key. This was my second visit and will return again.n

Modern Chinese style cuisine. Good fresh food. Beautiful desserts too. Delicious, kids loved it too. We will be back! Best pork belly we have eaten! Highly recommend this place

Honestly my favourite restaurant in all of existence. The combination of kind staff and incredibly crafted Asian cuisine has made me one darn happy human and a return customer for life. For anyone who visits the hills, I highly recommend you make a stop at this beautiful restaurant.

Absolutely sheer bliss, worth the drive for the serenity and incredible tasty artistically presented food and all seated on swinging booths, heaven on a stick

The high tea was appalling was very disappointed for the money the cost doesn't match the amount of food that was supplied, will never go there again and will not be recommending this place to any of my friends$98 wasted not including my time

Stopped by for a nice cafe lunch (after seeing them on the back of a supermarket docket) and was very surprised that this was a nice Chinese restaurant. All meals were served by a very friendly manager Jacky and other helpful staff. Food was great but I must mention the amazing Eye Fillet with a special Dry Chilli. I would go back especially for this dish.
Carolyn Ford
Stopped for Devonshire Tea - scones were absolutely delicious, turkish delight tea was very nice & loved the novelty of the swinging tables!

Emily McKerrow
Food was amazing, staff were lovely & the view from back verandah was gorgeous! Can’t wait to come back & try the oriental high tea

Went with a group of friends and had a great time. We enjoyed the atmosphere near the fire place and had some kongpao chicken, fried rice and chips for something to eat. We then finished off with scones and coffee. Scones took some time but were very well worth the wait. So fresh alongside some cream and jam. Scones were the highlight and the beautiful scenery. Will definitely come back!

位置在Mount Dandenong,世外桃源般的餐厅。印象最深的是那两只草泥马!超可爱。绿水青山,环境真的是没话说。菜品挺精致,摆盘,服务都🉑。

Excellent food and nice environment. Staffs are very friendly. Definitely will come back again!

The Service is pretty good and especially I need to point out Zoelle, as she served us and explain menu very well fell like she treated us as family.
Hangry Jules
Our family had such a good time here when we went for my sister’s birthday. You can tell every meal had been prepared so carefully and they really thought about the presentation. The staff also gave us a complimentary cake for the birthday girl (they called up prior to ask if I’d like this idea and if so, what they should write on the cake!) and honestly it was such a beautiful cake... for free! <br/><br/>Everyone was satisfied with the food and as a family we ALWAYS had someone who disagrees! The place is a bit far from any where but what they have makes it worth the travel. They have such a beautiful garden and animals! <br/><br/>I will definitely come back next time I have another big group gatherings 😇 thank you so much guys!
Emma
Siobhan was so attentive and friendly. 10/10 for customer service. If you come for the High Tea, make sure you come on an empty stomach because it was above and beyond and extremely generous for the price you pay. We will be rolling out of here today!
Katrina Marsh
Fabulous setting and wonderful food combined with excellent presentation. It’s the second time I’ve been to this Hills gem and I will definitely go back. It’s refreshing to have a great vegetarian options too.
CoupleOFoodies
Absolutely the best high tea I've had! Came here for my partners birthday and loved the Asian themed food. Unlike other high teas, the range of savoury food was plentiful and satisfying (not just your boring sandwiches) and the sweets all had unique flavours eg. Salted egg pineapple tart and pandan roll. The staff were very attentive and friendly and the venue itself is beautiful - perfect for large group occasions I'd say! Will definitely recommend to others and come back again.
Paddy
Great service and food.<br/>Cozy new decor.<br/>Had the high tea.<br/>Very well looked after by Siobhan ave l and Rebeca.<br/>Compliments to the chefs.

Been here the 2nd time and is food and service is great as usual! Thanks to our waitress Leanne, she have been very attentive. Highly recommended!
Julie
Signature dishes need to be reviewed, as other food on the menu are more delicious
Jai Luke
Wow! The ambience from the gardens, lush leafy surrounds and birds make you feel like you’re in another world from the city. The service is friendly and attentive, the food is scrumptious - the spicy crispy chicken and the sweet braised pork belly are some of the best I’ve had in Melbourne. This place is a gem, can’t wait to come back!!

We wanted to try the place for really long the food was average and the prices are a bit expensive. The portion sizes for some dishes are really small.

Amazing foods and environment here

Delicious food with immaculate presentation. Beautifully tranquil ambiance. Only let down was bringing mains out whilst entrees were still being eaten. Would definitely recommend.

Beautiful setting and relaxing restaurant vibe. Delicious pork dish! Slightly overpriced for Chinese food. The salt and pepper calamari and fried rice needed seasoning. Overall great experience and would return.

The restaurant is simply amazing. Very beautiful place with tasty food and friendly staff. Very relaxing environment where you can enjoy a fantastic dish.

Went here for my birthday. Very welcoming and warm service. Relaxed, quiet and cosy atmosphere. Perfect to take a date. The host was funny and very friendly, he gave me complimentary cakes. The tea here is amazing, must try the well-being tea and Japanese morning dew tea - very aromatic and delicious. The food is presented beautifully and flavours and textures complemented each other well. I got the pork belly and bok choy dish, diced beef with abalone mushroom - highly recommend these! Ps. Pick the dishes with photos displayed on the menu 😉👌<br/>

It’s a really nice place hidden in the mountains. The food was great with very friendly service. We were too full to try the dessert but apparently it was highly recommended by friends. Next time we definitely have to tryout. The only thing is annoying is that if you follow google navigation it will lead you from “Perrins Creek Rd” to “Howard Rd” which has been disconnected as a private road, so be aware of this when you drive to there.

We were up in the hills and the Olinda Tea House has some decent reviews so we stopped by. The Chinese owners have spent some serious money on the building and fitout of this place - it has its own garden and various outhouses for weddings and functions. We started with the prawn dumplings which were the best dish of the night. Plump and delicious. The san choi bao looked pretty on the plate but was a little lacklustre in flavour. Mains was the salt and pepper calamari of which there was a decent serving size and the Shanghai pork ribs which came with icing sugar and strawberries which was rather novel. Not a bad meal but rather pricey for what it is. On a positive note, they honour Zomato Gold here.

We came here for dinner on my partner’s birthday after a day on the Puffing Billy. The ambiance and location is amazing. The beautiful garden welcomes you into a highly zen, cozy and elegant atmosphere. The food was stunning and true to its roots. Strongly worth the trip here. Definitely recommend t 👌🏻

We spent few hours relaxing time just to enjoy meals and the surrounding. The food is delicious and the serving is good for two -three people to share for one main dish; we ordered two dishes -the cumin mutton and mix veg (chestnut and snow peas), they both are delicious , and desert we got the rice wine balls and tiramisu! No doubt that o am coming back again. <br/><br/>The high tea form next table looks fantastic as well, it is the next on my list.<br/><br/>Highly recommend this place and need to book during the weekend and public holiday.
The World’s My Oyster
Came here on Zomato Gold and the salt and pepper calamari dish was honestly some of the best we’ve had. You could definitely taste it was calamari from how tender is was and not like your fast food Chinese which does S&P calamari that is tougher than rubber. The fried spicy chicken was really tasty but quite spicy even when we asked for mild. The flavours were all top notch and the food really did taste like great quality Asian food. Unfortunately we came at night and couldn’t enjoy the views, we’d definitely return. We came at about 8pm on a Sunday and it was a bit hard to get the attention of the waitress to refill our water and the two male managers were just chatting among themselves -this is probably the only minor fault of the night. On Zomato Gold I think the prices are quite reasonable but without ZG it is a bit pricey at about $30 for a main.

Great environment. Recommend spicy fried chicken 10/10. Service was exemplary. Manager was great. Came here on a Monday night and was fairly quiet, would definitely recommend coming during quiet times as it is so serene.

Olinda Tea House is a scenic restaurant located near Dandenong ranges. They offer traditional Chinese cuisine and not only is it very authentic (spicy!!), but they also put a lot of effort in plating it attractively. My favourite dish would be the pork belly which was thick cut yet very succulent and flavoursome.

We had a quiet and relaxing time here and thoroughly enjoyed the food we had. We had the hightea with complimentary coffee and tea. The staff were really nice and we got to enjoy a live band perform which was really amazing.<br/><br/>Highlights: the scones were so yum! Perfect and crispy. The desserts were good too although i prefer the savoury dishes most. It came out looking very pretty <br/><br/>Lowlights: coffee wasn’t as good as ones you get at the cafe although it wasn’t bad. Only downside is it was quite pricey and although the sweets were good but it wasn’t anything special compared to other high teas ive been to.<br/><br/>Overall ill still visit here and probably order their other dishes instead of the high tea.

We absolutely loved the high tea experience here, my new favourite in Melbourne! For $59pp you get 2 hit drinks each (I had the Jasmine Tea and a Skim Latte), a savoury platter of 3 dishes each (we had a mini poke bowl, karage & pork belly bao), a 3-tier dessert stand (mousse, profiterole, apple tart, brownie cake, macaron & chocolate roll) and scones (date scone and plain scone) with jam and cream! You can also get a discount with the entertainment book which took this down to just over $88 for 2 people!! The venue itself is just beautiful and the staff were truly lovely!! Must try!

A beautiful restaurant nestled in the heart of the Dandenong ranges. Service is efficient, helpful and very friendly. The ambience warm, quiet and relaxed. Importantly the food is delicious with generous sized dishes. A wide range of choices both vegetarian and meat are available. And the desserts are to die for. Finish off with a choice of palate cleansing teas - we highly recommend the Japanese mountain view tea. <br/><br/>Highly recommend - the homemade dumplings, Stir fried eggplant with sweet and spicy garlic sauce and the shredded potato with chilli. Finish off with a cheese tart layered with strawberry or if too full try a bite sized macaroon. <br/><br/>It’s also very much worth a wander through the surrounding gardens which are green and tranquil <br/><br/>From Ginny, Megan, Sara and Shallon.

Loved this place! Husband and I had our first wedding anniversary dinner here and staff were wonderful! Food is amazing! Will be back for sure.

Lovely service and amazing view!! Food was so delicious but it was just a bit expensive for the portions that came out : (. Would recommend though!!!

Ideal location for a lovely Chinese lunch after walking in the nearby Sherbrooke Forest. It has balcony sitting area with view. The food is beautifully prepared with both Sichuan and Shanghaiese food on the menu. The staffs are friendly and attentive. We saw people enjoy having high tea here as well. Will definitely visit again.

Amazing place, great ambience and excellent service! One of my favourite restaurants to go to! And the swing table is definitely a great addition!
Angelic Ferreira
The food was rather average, we were so excited to give it a go as we happened to be in the area and had wanted to go for awhile. The food was bland and out of the 6 dishes we ordered we only enjoyed the crispy chicken with peanuts. It was full of tourists and a few locals which wasn’t an issue except it made one wonder why are the reviews so high yet the food didn’t reflect the reviews...

Our day trip to Olinda Tea House was an ideal, relaxing escape into the sprawling Dandenong Ranges away from the business of city life. The autumn foliage of the Olinda gardens, the impeccable customer service, along with the beautifully executed Chinese dishes – Olinda Tea House provided us with a truly memorable dining experience in Melbourne that has me impatiently waiting for the next opportunity to come back.

We have been in this place twice, this is a beautiful ambiance in there specially the garden at the back in Autumn, but the food is not good.we tried the food first time and the high tea second time.<br/>We were not happy with non of them.<br/>

Honestly, the Indonesian nasi goreng taste terrible. I never tasted this fried rice before in my life. I am indonesian, and this seems like curry fried rice which is not signature at all. The favorite things from here is their tea, which is pretty good.
Kylie
Came here for a wedding, and the food served was delicious! Quite authentic Chinese food, with insta worthy plating and lovely service from the staff. These were only some of the dishes we had (full menu attached below) but the lobster to the pork belly to the mapo tofu, were all of excellent standards. The lamb eye fillet was my overall favourite. It's quite a trek up the mountain, but this tea house has a beautiful garden (with alpacas!) and lovely mountain scenery. Would imagine this to be a great place for a romantic lunch date ❤️

When traveling through the ranges, a great place for either a high tea style meal, or a modern Yum Cha , or modern Chinese... this is the place. The gardens that surround the place are amazing. Very good ambiance, for a break in traveling.

I came to the Olinda Tea House for a lunch to celebrate my partners birthday. I think that the setting is extremely relaxing, clean and fresh greenery contrast well against the polished floorboards and modern yet Oriental inspired design. The food was presented extremely well, I found that the service was relaxed which I didn't mind given the setting. The main dishes vary in size some will be more filling then others but my partner and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Pineapplejuicy
Olinda Tea House is nicely designed and built. There’s an opening deck area if you like a bit of sun shining into you while you dine. Note, there are a few swinging chairs for reservation too. The dishes are delicious and a few signature ones are showed with pictures in the menu. My partner and I ordered the truffle fried rice, bbq rib and stir fried lamb fillet. And of course, some tea. We are all filled up after the meal. I heard that there is a garden in the place. I saw a front yard with a little bridge in the front entrance and I’m yet to discover a main one somewhere else. I read some reviews saying the service can be awkward which I have the same feeling. But I think the waitress is just being a bit shy. Overall it’s still a five-star experience.

We had a scoopon for this restaurant so it was really good value for money ambiance was nice and service was ok. Food was good but pretty similar to most asain restaurants nothing that really bedazzled me

Olinda tea house - staff polite ✔️food ✔️ambience ✔️inspite of being busy we were given table almost immediately. We started with king prawn dumpling and vegetable dimpling. The prawn dumpling was very well stuffed and fresh and hot. <br/>For the mains we ordered diced chicken fried rice and boy! Were they fresh and good. The egg, the veggies and the chicken tasted amazing. We also ordered chicken curry and vegetables which was good. For drinks we had a beer and iced tea of the day which was really fruity and refreshing. Lovely experience and amazing food.

Each trip to Olinda Teahouse was a delightful experience and the kids simply love this place. The serene surroundings and the relaxed atmosphere offers plenty to do before and after the meal to keep them engaged. The food is exquisite and delicately prepared, the portion is quite modest but the presentation and flavour will definitely leave its impression. Not many choices can go wrong but we particularly like the Crispy Fried Chicken with Dried Chilli and the Sweet and Sour BBQ Ribs, the children always order the Special Fried Rice and the desert in the form of Hightea is their favourite and is highly recommended. For us this a must visit when we venture out to the Dandenong Mountain and the surroundings and we will sure be back in the not too distant future.

First time here. Group of 4 of us. Ordered 5 meals and was not disappointed, each meal was delicious. Grounds are very nice and service excellent. Will be back.

Siutated in a beautiful and tranquil part of Melbourne just over an hour’s drive from Melbourne, Olinda Tea House offers a relaxed and serne atmosphere that’s perfectly accompanied by authentic Chinese cuisine and delicious High Tea options.<br/>We thoroughly enjoyed sampling a range of dishes originating from all different parts of China, all while sipping on some the best tea we’ve come across! For Chinese food lovers looking for an experience that’s both unique and memorable, Olinda Tea House is a must.

Amazing experience at Olinda Tea House - love their home brew tea along with their delicious spread of asian fusion dishes and last but not least, the incredible high tea. Their scones are the best we have ever had 😍 We will be back!

What a delight to be invited to Olinda Tea House. A lovely relaxing restaurant amongst the trees in the mountain tops.<br/><br/>A variety of delicious specialty teas were presented to accompany our meals. We started off with the pork and chicken San Choi Boi which was very refreshing and the perfect appetizer!<br/><br/>Our feast comprising of the following amazingly presented dishes were full of flavour and we had very generous serves for our table of eight.<br/><br/>- braised pork belly cube with sweet soy sauce (one of our favourites)<br/>- roasted honey soy eye fillet steak with abalone mushroom and asparagus<br/>- the lamb fillet with cumin chilli and onion which packed a punch of spice<br/>- Thai style king prawn<br/>- kung pao prawns (another favourite)<br/>- plum flavoured cherry tomatoes (a very unique dish)<br/>- mango tofu with pork (was nice but I could not taste the mango)<br/>- crispy fried chicken with dried chilli and peanuts<br/>- stir fried shredded potatoes with chilli and vinegar (were very uniquely different but had lovely flavour)<br/>-Stir fried eggplant and potato in special soy sauce (another favourite)<br/><br/>Our feast was completed by a gorgeous high tea stand comprising macarons, cream puffs and an Asian inspired dessert. Every one of them was delicious.<br/><br/>Overall the ambience of the restaurant was full of light and plenty of space to relax for a meal. The gardens were well presented and it looks as though there will be a children’s area in the future.<br/><br/>Service was excellent and we were all very happy with our experience. Highly recommend. Thanks for the invite. We look forward to coming back and trying the High Tea menu.

Was wonderfully surprised by this little oasis of peace with serene gardens. We were not expecting Chinese cuisine but it was very good food with pretty presentation. Service was good too as we were the only group seated outside but not forgotten as tends to be the case. The oolong tea was also nice and light - not your run of the mill standard lunch teas. Overall one of the best meals I’ve had!
Quince And Cheese
Had the privilege of dining at the beautiful Olinda Tea House the other day. It's on such gorgeous grounds, laden with animals and pagodas. The large space is bright with a variety of seating for groups big and small. Staff were attentive and friendly and ambiance was pleasant. To start, I tried two teas- a black Turkish Delight flavoured variety (light and subtly sweet with hints of rosewater), plus a house lend wellbeing green (pleasant, easy to drink with a strong but not bitter quality).<br/><br/>For food, the vegetarian san choi bao and plum flavoured tomatoes came first. The latter was a standout. The tomatoes were the best tasting I'd ever had thanks to a soak in plum juice (I'm assuming). The crunch of accompanying Rice Chex was interesting as well.<br/><br/>As a main, I got the eggplant and potato in special soy sauce. The sauce was probably highly caloric, but man was it delicious. My partner couldn't resist stealing some, although he also thoroughly enjoyed his soy fillet, abalone, mushroom and asparagus (served with a big cocktail glass of fruit). We also shared the shredded potatoes, which were like noodles with a delightful crunch.<br/><br/>Although I was very full towards the end of my meal, I couldn't go without sampling the restaurant's trademark dessert stand full of housemade pastries. They went down wonderfully with a soy flat white. While all the sweets were nice, the chocolate mousse and macaron took the cake (no pun intended).<br/><br/>Whether for a special event or just a meal in the Dandenongs, I can't recommend this teahouse enough.
@twogoodtoresist
step into an oasis of wellbeing and heaven at Olinda tea house. Where the gardens are green and gorgeous, the chairs are rocking and the tea menu extensive. We enjoyed a specially crafted meal (tailored to vegetarian dietary needs) and finished with a gorgeous high tea.
Barley And Hops
Very nice place for our Christmas lunch. The atmosphere is very good both inside and out. The staff are friendly. The foods great and well priced. Only problem we had was they seemed to be having some septic tank issues or something outside judging from the smell but couldn’t smell it inside. happy to go back. No good beer available though.
Ken Deng
The good here is fantastic. My friends and me went here for afternoon tea. We ordered the deserts. They look so cute and delicates so that we would not even dare to eat them. The macaroons were pinky ones and that's my favorite colours.
Naya
Nice afternoon tea,I like it. The architectural style is very Chinese. The deserts is really cute and delicious.Good customer service. We do really enjoy it.
Good Food Good Mood
We were invited to Olinda tea house today to enjoy an absolutely sublime meal in the most peaceful and relaxing of settings. This beautiful space is located less than an hour from Melbourne in the lovely Dandenong ranges. <br/><br/>A tea house with an Asian twist, we enjoyed a variety of teas with each of us favouring something different. The Turkish delight proved popular and we were also loving the oolong variety with red dates and goji berries as well as different blends of green tea. <br/><br/>We tried many dishes all of which were stunningly presented. The honey spiced eye fillet was a favourite as were the kung pao prawns. They had a slight kick to them but the sauce was so well balanced it was simply delicious. Those that can’t handle the heat should certainly shy away from the crispy chilli chicken but one of my fellow dinners who has a high spice tolerance happily demolished it!<br/><br/>There are so many different dishes here. The style of food does not focus on one variant of Chinese cooking and offers some very unique options, the plum flavoured tomato entree dish we had was a prime example of this. Not only flavourful but very special, the type of food you can’t just find at your local Chinese restaurant. And you certainly can’t find the gorgeous natural surroundings and serene atmosphere just anywhere either <br/><br/>After a walk around the grounds were we met the resident silky chickens and saw the herb gardens we then engaged in dessert. Seriously good coffee was served alongside a round of warm scones with house made jam. Delectable!<br/><br/>A dessert tier from their high tea stand was the perfect way to finish. The sweet offerings are always changing on the whims of the very talented pastry chef. I adored the chocolate mousse so much I can’t even describe to you how unbelievably perfect it was. I also loved the daifuku which is a traditional glutinous rice flour dessert with strawberry and red bean inside.<br/><br/>I couldn’t recommend this place enough be it for high tea or a spectacular lunch. They even have private function rooms which would be ideal for a celebration or special event. A truly fabulous day out

With beautiful atmosphere, welcoming staff and high quality dishes across the board, Olinda Tea House is absolutely worth the visit (and re-visits)! My children and I thoroughly enjoyed our dining at this restaurant, and look forward to coming again :) We especially recommend the salted fish eggplant dish, which is by far the most authentic Chinese-style eggplant dish we've had in the Melbourne area! Even the bowls of rice we ordered smelled delightful *^* The Olinda Tea House staff definitely deserve greater recognition for the effort that goes into maintaining such an excellent standard of dining.

Nestled in the Mount Dandenong Range area, Olinda Tea House (OTH) is located surrounded by the natures. Basking in plenty of natural light, complements with the serenity of the surrounding, chirping of the birds and modern designed restaurant, OTH offers range of Chinese cuisines with High Tea sessions as well. Located in the 17 acres flower forest, OTH offers also outdoor space for functions and also 3 functions spaces that can easily accommodate 30-120 people.

A beautiful drive up mountains you come to this lovely tea house. Beautiful property with gardens, vibes and views. Great service. The menu was interesting and had heaps of delicious options. Some of the flavour combinations sounded so appealing. All the food was cooked perfectly and presented so beautifully on plates. Lovely day out

I’d been to a wedding up here a number of years ago so was happy to see the oriental gardens still had plenty of charm. Recent owners have taken the restaurant in a different direction and they now serve asian inspired menu with a few added twists. The venue itself was modern and neutrally tonned with plenty of natural lighting and areas able to be divided off making it perfect for private functions or a more intimate feel. <br/><br/>We sat and ordered wine by the glass while the driver in our group spoke highly of the Turkish delight flavoured black tea. The menu was well presented we generally ordered based on the the photos and how good they looked. <br/><br/>When the first of the entrees came out I was surprised just how good the plating presentation was. We had a couple of light entrees, the plum flavoured cherry tomatoes and the Thai style king prawns. Both were elegant dishes although it was the vegetarian tomato dish that surprised us with the burst of flavour on each bite. <br/><br/>The chicken San Choi Bao had plenty of flavour with water chestnut for texture and the lettuce managed to contain the sauces nicely <br/><br/>For mains we tried the Pan Fried Honey Spiced Eye Fillet, the braised Pork Belly, the King Pao Prawns, the Crispy Fried chicken with a scary amount of chilli and a side of asian greens with garlic. Again top scores on presentation for all these dishes. My favourite was definitely the Braised pork which came out with bok choy in a sweet soy sauce. Slow cooked and fall apart tender I would eat this dish any day. Other in the group really liked the spiciest dish we had which was the Sichuan style crispy chicken covered in peppers and chilli but quite a dry dish. The king pao prawns were the sweetest of our mains and were in a sticky sauce and the eye fillet cubes were oh so tender.<br/><br/>We finished the meal off with a sample of their high tea selection served on a visually stunning rounded tier. We ate this with enjoyable coffees before heading outside and trying the rocking tables where we finished off our huge feast with plain and date scones with jam and cream.<br/><br/>Such a wonderful lunch, high tea and venue set in amazing surrounds... I can see why they are already starting to book up for Christmas.<br/><br/>Thanks to Tony and the team for inviting us up into the hills of Melbourne.
FOOD TRIP
Olinda Teahouse is a stunning restaurant in the Dandenong ranges serving up some amazing dishes. We took over an hour to drive here and it was definitely worth it!. The venue itself is beautiful with vibrant flowers and serene water features all the way around. Perfect for a wedding or other celebration.

Tonight I went for dinner to Olinda Tea House. This a Chinese Tea House that serves some amazing food. There was a lot of food but below are some<br/>of the highlights.<br/><br/>We started w some San Choy Bao which was served on crispy lettuce leaves, Yummo! What a great start. Then onto delicious cooked prawns, and the presentation was so amazing. Wow! <br/><br/>Then we had some roasted honey eye fillet w abalone mushroom and asparagus. This vegetables in this dish were still crispy and crunchy... perfect. The meat was soft and cooked really well. <br/><br/>Another highlight was the pork belly. Oh my goodness, the meat was sooo tender and it just melted in my mouth. And so well balanced w the bok choy. <br/><br/>And I can’t forget the spicy chicken (the only spicy food on the menu) as this was one of my favourite dishes. <br/><br/>This place is famous for their scones so I was excited them fo dessert. They were served hot and they were absolutely delicious, served w home made jam, yummo, and double cream. <br/><br/>They also do an Oriental Fusion High Tea, which would be fun to try. This place is a must visit, well worth the drive up the Dandenong Ranges, it was so peaceful, there were native parrots and I really enjoyed the gardens. <br/><br/>Thanks for the invitation and I look forward to going back.<br/><br/>Aman Saraf

An absolute gem in the Dandenong Ranges. Beautiful oriental setting with well kept gardens. Really pretty wooden gazebos scattered around their grounds. Great photo opps. <br/><br/>Staff were attentive and efficient. We had a party of 11 and they sat us down at a large round table. Food came out on queue with little wait time. <br/><br/>Food was presented nicely - modern Chinese. Enjoyed every dish that we ordered and boy did we order! I’ll list a few dishes. My favourite was the king prawn dumplings (yum cha style). Nice plumped dumplings! Then there was this other dish I’d not had in Australia before - Steamed Egg with Fresh Shrimps and Flying Fish Roes. It was interesting, very well balanced and enjoyable. The Indonesian Fried Rice and OTH Signature Fried Rice were average, good accompanied by other dishes like the Crispy Fried Chicken with Dried Chilli and Peanuts (Sichuan style). The Peking Duck wraps were nice but probably not the best I’ve had, too much hoisin sauce - could have done without this item. Another menu item I really liked was the Slow Cooked Beef Shank<br/>with Special Soy Sauce. It was delicious! There’s a slight hint of star anise spices through the beef which was nice and soft. The sauce was well balanced - not too salty. <br/><br/>Overall had a great dining experience at this establishment. Can’t wait for the next occasion to return!

The resturant is beautifully surrounded by a well-maintained Oriental garden. It was nice to be able to walk around and take some time out in the shelters along the garden. Food wise, be prepared for humble servings and to pay a premium for the nice venue and fine presentation of food. We ordered the fried kway teow, peking duck wraps, signature sweet and sour bbq ribs and slow cooked beef shank. Overall food tasted alright but nothing too wow. The service was always there with plently of wait staff up the front to assist when needed. I walked up to take a look at the cakes up the front and there was someone right next to me to take the order. Our waitress also kindly gave some recommendations on what to try.

The lunch that we had were pleasant, the food overall were good but not special, just that the portion was tiny for the price charged which we definitely could get in any sichuan restaurant in the city for much more. For comparison, 4 of us ordered 2 portion of dimsum, 1 appetisers, 3 main, and it was far from enough, which if we order it in a normal sichuan restaurant, we will need to take away the left over. Service were a bit awkward as one waitress (wavy hair with glasses) accidentally spilt the tea pot and she used my friend tissue to wipe it, when he asked her to bring another tissue to replace his tissue, she brought it but then again used it to wipe the table again.. i was like..... why? I told him dont bother to ask her anymore, ill ask other waitress. The har gou skin was very thick btw, i think with the other dishes were good, this one was the least pleasant tasting. Overall just okay and wont purposely go back even when im in the area considering the price and portion wise.

A lovely hidden gem in Olinda! So glad we decided to stop by and experience a wonderful meal with great service and exceptional food. The dumplings were extremely juicy and we left carrying our stomachs out.<br/>Only negative would be that they gave us cutlery while other patrons got chopsticks. Please don’t assume based on skin colour, I am quite capable with chopsticks.

I have tried there tea selection and I was given the gift of their French Earl grey. And it is superb <br/><br/>So now we went to lunch this time. Sat outside on the swing chairs. Very cool. A very peaceful view of the gardens. We ordered the Kung pau chicken <br/>And the lamb with cumin and some stir fry broccoli <br/>Well the lamb was incredible full of flavour and the lamb was melt in your mouth tender probably to much onion to meat ratio<br/><br/>The chicken was a first. It was a bit to sweet and too sticky vegetables were tender <br/>Broccoli was perfect <br/>Olivia was our server and she was brilliant <br/><br/>I will come again

A good place to rest, have a cup of tea after enjoying national park nearby. I ordered chai tea latte but it was too sweet. The earl grey tea is so so

Really good experience! Would like to come again! Love the oriental high tea set! Environment is really good, and they have this really interesting cuddle chair. Highly recommended to sit outside.

Delicious and delicate flavours. The seating outside is gorgeous with swinging seats. The staff were very friendly and quick service. I will be definitely be coming back again.<br/>

Food: 🌟🌟🌟🌟<br/>We felt a little fancy so decided to order the oriental high tea. This comprised of treats such as the gua bao, tartlets, raspberry macarons and some freshly baked scones. These desserts were enjoyable and surprisingly filling. However the coffee on the other hand was a little weaker than what would have been preferred.<br/><br/>Service: 🌟🌟🌟🌟<br/>Set in the scenic and beautiful gardens on Olinda, Olinda Teahouse was the perfect place to spend a Saturday afternoon. Staff were polite, attentive and responsive. Food also did not take long to arrive.<br/><br/>Price: 🌟🌟🌟.5<br/>Fairly reasonably priced for the quality of the meals. We enjoyed our experience and would like to return to try out other menu options.<br/>

Very inner location in Olinda area. Food style is like Sichuan food, but not that spicy! There also has Shanghai style pork belly is really nice and traditional! Views are good but highly recommend a booking before you go.
La Ola Es Mia Cocina.
The restaurant is absolutely beautiful inside and out and the food is definitely top shelf delicious !!<br/>Unfortunately the service although friendly, is quite slow and our meals came out at different times.<br/><br/>I was last to eat after our entire party was completely finished which was 20 minutes behind the slower servings of the other dishes.<br/><br/>Also I notified the restaurant 6 months in advance and even called twice to confirm this was a birthday and even once more before the actual date and they forgot our complementary birthday cake which was meant to be included !!!<br/><br/>We asked about this and they said we didn’t give them enough time which is a poor excuse as I mentioned it via the Dimmi website and 2 follow up calls !<br/><br/>So that’s completely all on them for making this huge mistake and forgetting my beloveds birthday cake and they can’t blame the customer in this case as I did all the correct things to make it happen.<br/><br/>So they lose points for that and the slow service and not serving everyone at once as that becomes awkward.<br/><br/>Otherwise it was definitely a great day and restaurant with everything else and would return, but not for a birthday party again !!

Love coming here every time! The ambience is so relaxing while you sip on your tea and munch on your afternoon tea bites. If you like taking photos of your food and have little cute Japanese inspired wooden huts to take that Instagram worthy pic here, definitely worth the visit! Service is wonderful as well and staff are super friendly! Will be back the next time I’m in mount Dandenong!

We visited Olinda Teahouse on a Saturday morning for their Oriental High tea. As we drove into the car-park, we were already excited at the sight of the pagodas and japanese inspired gardens. Inside, the teahouse is very spacious with an inside and outdoor area. As it was a sunny day, we decided to sit outside on the swinging chairs which was fun and a unique experience.<br/>As part of the oriental hightea, we were offered: <br/>- 2 drinks of choice- Savory: Bao, dumplings, and raddish cake- Sweet: Strawberry Macaron, Baked Custard, Red Bean Mochi, Creme Puff & Apple Tart- Scones with Jam and Cream<br/>The food was beautifully presented and tasted nice. The dumpling skin was a bit chewy though. <br/><br/>Overall, it was a fantastic experience and we were so full by the end. Some of my faves would be the bao, the scones and the apple custard tart. <br/><br/>Instagram @Flabnbone_Food

Came by Olinda Tea House for a lunch gathering of sorts with a group of friends. We had a large group, and the manager sat us in one of the private rooms, which turned out to be akin to a stand alone cabin, which provided for a lovely environment for a leisurely weekend meal where we could engage in conversation and the little kids could wander around without disturbing the other diners at the restaurant. Definitely top marks for service, top marks for dining environment. Big plus for the lush grounds that you can wander around before or after your meal.<br/><br/>In terms of dishes, they were mostly outstanding. We ordered way too much as usual, and the outstanding dishes included the prawn skewers, the pork belly, the chicken wings, and the diced chicken. Truly a great meal, and definitely a good suggestion for a large group to gather and feast.

Really liked their high tea set here at this beautiful tea house, well groomed garden with landscape and a few secluded private dining area. We ordered the oriental and western set and they were perfect, every item was on point from the scones to sweet delicacies to gua pao and pastries. Coffee and tea was great quality and good service. Only tiny issue is that they have wasp bees surrounding the area if you sit outdoors and it might be pretty annoying.

I’m definitely going to this place again ordered egg plant sweet n spicy and fried rice with silver needless tea .. amazing food. Now want to try their high tea. Ambience is amazing and kids friendly place. Rocking chair is new concept.

Unfortunately we had a bad experience at the Olinda Tea House. We were really disappointed with the poor service. We waited for 1 hr 40 minutes for our food to arrive, which is well beyond a reasonable wait time for any restaurant. The waiter told us after an hour when we asked that they had a function in another room, however they didn't advise of a potential delay when we arrived nor how long we would still need to wait. The quality of the food was just ok, however it didn't live up to our expectations. I definitely wouldn't recommend this place to my friends or family.

Seeing the Olinda Tea House open for business again brought great joy so was pretty keen to get in a check it out. The menu is quite different to the old, swapping out contemporary cafe fare for more Chinese cuisine (not a bad thing! I love Asian food). I had the cumin lamb which was tasty however the spices were a little overpowering. Service was good even though it was a full house with 4 servers (Easter Monday). Overall it does feel like there’s a bit of an identity crisis going on. High tea, cakes and scones on one hand and Asian food on the other is an bit of an odd combination.

I enjoyed the high tea with unlimited hot beverages. We sat outside on awesome “swinging seats.” It was a pleasant experience drinking tea surrounded by trees.

Olinda Tea house is in a beautiful location, surrounded by lush forest. It’s a great place to have afternoon tea with friends and family.<br/><br/>The tea is served in a delightful teapot and cup. There is a wide range to choose from. <br/><br/>The only downside is the service is slow and the food is overpriced for what you receive. <br/>For 3 little dumplings you pay $8.80, they aren’t overly tasty and are VERY small. <br/><br/>I’d recommend coming here for the ambience, the tea and deserts.

Please book the table #4! I believe that’s the best table in this place if you enjoy the peaceful environment.<br/><br/>The swing chair is so unique that you won’t find in some other places. The restaurant sacrifices lots of room for the natural view to spoil the customers’ eyes 👀. I have to say that comparing with the popular pie place on the top of the mountain, Olinda tea house maybe an outstanding. <br/><br/>It’s interesting that my partner and I didn’t order afternoon tea but the normal Chinese food in the tea house. The slowly cooked pork belly is fabulous and the chilli chicken with fried peanut tastes yum as well. <br/><br/>Pity didn’t spent some time on walking in the nice backyard because of the heavy raining. Will do it if coming back next time.<br/><br/>
