Review Jiminy Kitchen - Parkdale

Mark Yee
Great food and great coffee! Pork sliders is definitely the bomb here. loaded with pulled pork and generously dipped in sauce. Despite the restaurant being busy and we had 4 orders on our table, food was served in good time. Sit facing the open kitchen. You won't regret it.

This restaurant is along Como Parade West at Parkdale. This is one of the best restaurants I like. Fantastic staffs. Excellent service . Polite and good recommendations of food. Enjoyable meal.

Nice coffee, great service and friendly atmosphere in an easy to access location make this a great spot for a quick catch up.

Great service, great chips, nice clean environment. We witnessed the chef sneeze and wash his hands so hygiene is tip top. The only thing we thought needed improving is the menu.
Daniel Smith
Fantastic brunch/lunch spot, super hearty serves and friendly staff!

This was my go to for lunch and breakies. The chef changed but regardless I kept getting burnt food even when mentioning it ahead of order. No apologies and didn't feel very appreciated as a regular customer who kept giving them chances to improve

Hungover sunday got way better with my coffee and burger. Coffee was brilliant, Wagyu burger DELICIOUS, and I only spent 20 bucks. will defs be back for more

First time here today - stopped for a quick coffee whilst on a walk. Sat outside with good table service . Refreshing fresh squeezed orange juice and great coffee. Pleasant chatty guys nice local cafe in a busy strip take time to stop here.

I really enjoy the coffee and food here. The eggs benedict has been my favorite until today. I couldn't taste the vinegar/lemon flavour in the hollandaise. What is hollandaise without the sour edge? The sauce was clumpy and bland. So disappointed.

Jim, Tina, Joel and the team always greet us with a huge smile when we come. Best food, best coffee, best everything for a bayside cafe. Food never disappoints and the service is second to none. If you are thinking of coming down - stop searching and just do it! You won't regret it

Friendly staff, yummy coffee and very generous servings. Eggs benny were a tad bland and i did also ask if i could substitute the ham for bacon and the waitress advised no probs. Upon paying the bill i was charged extra for the bacon. Don't mind paying but I was told it was no probs so to be charged extra was little annoying. Overall it was good. We'll def be back

Not usually one to leave reviews but it was my first time to Jiminy's Kitchen and the place was incredible! The meal I had (the chicken burger) was the best local cafe meal I've ever consumed, and the calamari was perfectly cooked. Great service too! Will definitely be back :)

Every visit gets better... great coffee, fantastic food and great friendly staff... i highly recommend.

Best coffee in Parkdale by a long shot. Great place for breakfast. Love their porridge.

Food here is always excellent. Just had the steak sandwich and it rocked
Pamela Robinson
Very nice cafe with delightful, well mannered young staff. But not easy trying to get through tiny space to the toilets - clothes brush against "machinery" + leave dirty marks.
Miranda Sherburn
Sat outside for an hour waiting for our meal to arrive, as did the two other outside tables...assured after an hour that our meals were being plated.... Walked out after another 10 minutes....the other two tables also contemplated this, disappointing service, won't be going back

Nice friendly staff, good food but kitchen was a little too noisy. Not sure if it was stove exhaust or air conditioning but it was difficult to hear my friends.
Liz Walker
Lovely friendly staff and excellent food .Have been before and will be back.
Niki Caramalis
Lovely cafe with friendly staff, great coffee, delicious scones and homemade blueberry jam. Can't wait to go again!

I visited this cafe for the first and last time today.
On arrival we were seated and handed menus. After ordering our coffee we were ready to order food. At the point of ordering we were told a third of the breakfast menu was not available. We ordered 4 breakfasts. After ordering the manager came to our table to notify us they were running low on spinach but could give us more mushroom. On arrival our meals had no spinach at all. One of our friends then found plastic shards in their bacon, another then found a number of hairs in her food. We called the manager over who then made excuses for our food being contaminated. No apology was offered. We asked to settle our bill and negotiated to not pay for the contaminated meals. Overall very a very poor experience.

It's a pitty to place an order and get served that wonderful and fresh food with such annoyed faces...... maybe it wasn't their day.....

Below average food. I tried this place a while ago and the coffee tasted weak and watery. When our food came the best way to explain it was it tasted old. Sort of tuff and stale. Maybe overcooked? I'm not too sure but it wasn't very nice. Hopefully it was a once off issue though.

Normally I never go out for breakfast but if I had to again I'd come here. The brioche French toast was absolutely delicious and it came with cinnamon mascarpone cream and berries, cooked banana and maple syrup. My companion had the open Spanish omelette and a green smoothie which she enjoyed. The coffee was also very good.

Excellent coffee and food. Had the pumpkin special, fritters and fish taco. Everything was excellent and could not fault. Change in management and thumbs up on all accounts
Tessa
Really good service from the baristas and front of house. Coffee is good and served pretty quickly. Decor is nice and simple. Good local brunch place in Parkdale

Cannot rate this place enough, excellent coffee and food, excellent staff and a locals dream!
Thank you Jimmy for this Parkdale gem, my new favourite coffee stop!
Nicjmclean
Unfortunately a very poor cafe and probably the worst on the strip. The owner is grumpy and impatient and serves low-grade coffee and the food is not always fresh. Have a wander before you choose this place.

After 15 years living in Parkdale this is now our favourite place for brekky. Jim and Joel always make you feel welcome and add great coffee and classic dishes done perfectly and you can’t go wrong.

Staff were warm and welcoming. We had a couple of brekky burgers which were quite tasty. We to send one back because the egg was rock hard but they were very nice about it and it didn't take long to replace. Coffee was great. The cakes look amazing. Nice place. Will have to try lunch next time.

Stopped in today for a quick breakfast before heading off to work. The service is fantastic, always very welcoming and ask straight away if you would like a drink to start , rather than waiting for someone to address you/ take your drink order. I ordered the eggs on toast with a side of avocado and tomato and it was delish. The eggs were fluffy and tasty as well as the other items on my plate. Have never had a bad experience here and is a great local cafe for Parkdale and surrounding. Give it a try for yourself!!
Split The Bill
Staff were really friendly, surprisingly the food prices are low I had these delicious vanilla pancakes $15.90. The pancakes were a great size and were light and fluffy. Great place for a lazy Sunday brunch.

Have always loved the food and coffee when I've gone here. The owner is always so positive and welcoming, too!

I'm a huge fan of the brekkie burger which is affordable and delicious. Definitely recommend going here!

Recently received some fresh roasted coffee beans from here as a gift.

Wow wow wow....... they are super smooth. Terrific body and nice subtle notes with each sip.

I was very impressed. Can't wait to actually visit the cafe and try one that they made...... this is how mine turned out at home using their beans.

Excellent food and service! Our children were being tricky and needed gravy and they obliged by letting us take it into the venue to use on their amazing food!! We had the lamb salad and it was extremely tasty!! The presentation was wonderful, can not fault this place at all!!
April_eats
Great place for breakfast, conveniently opposite Parkdale station. Friendly polite staff. Quick and tasty breakfast. Orange juice was lovely and fresh!
Carly
Nice little spot tucked away on a competitive strip - always have a fantastic meal here (breakfast), eggs are good, rosti are good & the coffee is great.
Agree with others though, service can be a little slow or forgetful, and can be hard to get a table at times. That said, staff have always been really warm and pleasant whenever we've been there. Looking forward to going back once it opens for the new year.

Went for lunch the other day, and loved it! Service and food were impeccable. I tried to ignore the pastries when I was paying, but couldn't! Try the almond croissants.
Amanda
Coffee service was prompt. That was the best part of the experience. Food took one hour to arrive after ordering. Not good enough! And when we informed the manager we weren't impressed with the wait time his attitude left a lot to be desired. Plenty of other cafes in the same strip would be more deserving of the business

A pleasant enough cafe along the Parkdale shopping strip. I cannot fault the coffee, but I would have to agree with some other reviewers that this cafe is a little expensive for the portion sizes served, though the meals themselves are okay . I have always found the service friendly, welcoming and reasonably prompt.

Went for a Sunday brekkie here a few weeks ago. Was pretty busy, managed to get a table pretty quickly. The interior is really nice. We waited quite a while for our meals, it was busy so we understood. Nothing too special with our meals, had the Benedict which was ok, hubby had the big brekkie which he didn't rave about. Coffee was good, ordered the kids babycinos and requested they just have the froth. They all came out as normal babycinos with quite a bit of milk so they remade 1 for us.

Waited 45 mins for fruit salad & yoghurt - still weren't ready so left - coffee was fine - dog was happy with the water 😐. Noticed others had left as well - waiter was nice & friendly.

Went here when it first opened, food was ok service was terrible. Thought we give it another go today, service was worse! Staff avoid eye contact, left us for twenty minutes without taking our order. Coffee took twenty minutes but was good when it finally arrived, can't tell you about the food.....we left disappointed. Never again.

Impeccable service and fantastic food! My partner and I have been here a few times and are consistently impressed with the friendly service, attentive wait staff, delicious food and awesome coffee.
They also have a great selection of cakes and pastries on display at the service counter. (Get the lamington, you won't regret it!)

Definitely recommend the big breakfast! Perfectly poached eggs, flavourful homemade beans and the chorizo added a nice bit of spice to the dish.

We are both very keen to return to this awesome little local café for lunch, saw a burger come out of the kitchen that looked amazing!

Great to see a local small business kicking goals like Jiminy!
Quite a long wait, probably due to Father's Day . have had coffee here before which was really nice - food was nice too , dad liked the breakky burrito , the eggs Benedict were light on for the cost . We all agreed we should have ordered the super food breakfast because that looked great !
RM
Very long wait for cold, overpriced food. Attempted to notify staff that we were not impressed & were completely ignored. Will not return.

First time I went here your waiter had no idea what was on the menu at all, and she didn't take a joke "literally" :P

I got a tandoori chicken which was very dry and a tablespoon of tzaitki- would of loved more.

It's a great set out. But I wouldn't return every week, because it's highly overpriced for what you buy-

I ordered the smashed Avo here. Despite it being quite pricey I thought I'd give it a shot.

It came out with one piece of toast smashed avo and one poached egg. It tasted nice but I'm sorry that was not worth my $19.50! One piece of toast, really?!

My dad got two poached eggs with two pieces of toast for $10?! How does that make sense?

Service was good but the prices were a let down.

Have been here on two occasions first time got the Super food salad with chicken and was great! The second time ordered the Bircher but it was only dry rolled oats with fruit :(! Very friendly owners though :)

Won't return. Wanting to give any newcomer a go, we visited twice after a very underwhelming experience the first time, but the second time was no better. The service was pleasant, but the food was not, and it is very overpriced for the quality. First time my poached egg was very very underdone (and I really like soft eggs, but the white was not yet white anywhere but the very exterior). Second time my eggs where extremely overcooked, really more like a hard boiled. Potato rosti was barely edible and the coffee is too weak. The interior fit-out is nice and clearly a lot of care has been taken to present the place well so it's a real shame that it doesn't deliver to the standard that you hope for when you walk in.

My husband and I go out for breakfast regularly but Jiminy Kitchen didnt live up to its new look today. Coffee was great but poached eggs and bacon were overcooked for both of us, holandaise lacking a little flavour, lumpy and put under the griller so appeared burnt looking. Have had a fabulous lunch at Jiminy Kitchen with a girlfriend previously, tangy chicken burger fully superseded my expectations but sorry to say wont be back for breakfast.

Prices are high but quality is low. Poached eggs were over cooked and hash brown was like an old wettex. Coffee was just warm and had to ask for a replacement which was okay. On a good note, the staff were friendly.
Naz
Pretty good coffee, friendly owner, cool cafe interior. I've tried a few things on the menu now and the chef can modify things for you. Best thing here is the crumbed calamari sliders! The most tender and fresh fried calamari I've ever had!
Dee
Great food, great service, will be back!

Disappointing. We arrived on a busy weekend morning and had to wait which isn't a problem. However we were completely ignored by the staff. It would have been nice to at least get some eye contact or a nod to acknowledge that you were waiting. A table became available and we were still ignored.. Eventually managed to get seated and waited 45 mins for our food to arrive. The one waitress they had working the floor apart from the owner was very apologetic and very nice. Absolutely rushed off her feet. The food when it arrived was frankly not worth the wait or the money. We had Eggs Benedict and Avocado and Broad Bean Smash. The eggs were terribly overdone and the broad beans were a nasty grey colour.
To be fair the have only just opened but they do have a lot of competition in this area with some real go to places for the locals.
I'd give them a 5 out of 10.
Coffees Out
Nice looking cafe. Service was great and not to intrusive. Coffee was amazing. The pulled pork was tasty. Need to give it a second try to prove my findings.

Nice place and atmosphere. Coffee was good, food also good but eggs need to be runny not hard boiled (in my humble opinion). Would visit again for sure.

One of the newer cafes to hit Parkers Road, this 2 month old establishment did not disappoint. The cafe was lovely and modern and most importantly, very clean! The space is definitely utilised well with lost of tables and a bright open kitchen, furthermore I was a huge fan of the massive cake display which made every single one of the 10+ treats look amaze.
