Review Itihaas Indian Restaurant - Parramatta

Shristi Narayan
Went to this restaurant for the first time with my kids. I live in liverpool so travelled to Parramatta for dinner at this restaurant. I must say, the food was so delicious. But most importantly, the staffs are so friendly & well trained. They welcome you with a wonderful smile. I have been to many restaurants, but haven't had experience of such a wonderful customer service like Itihaas restaurant does. Excellent food and excellent customer service. I would definitely go back there again with my family.

Lovely service from Shiv on a busy Monday night. He remained fast, polite and patient esp. with my concerns as an anaphylactic. Food was rich in flavour and very beautifully presented. Very impressed, will be here again soon. Thank you!

I've been to a lot of Indian restaurants in Melbourne and Sydney but this one tops everything! The ambiance is perfect, the quality of food is good and the taste is exquisite! Everything we ordered was amazing! The presentation is mind blowing! The cheese garlic naan is a must order dish! They also have something called as a chefs special daily complimentary starter which was also very nice! The only bad thing is the quantity according to the pricing but otherwise it's top notch!

Absolutely amazing gem of a restaurant.. So blessed to have the best Server/Waiter in many years in Shiv you proudly, enthusiasticly and patiently introduced and explained the expansive menu... Food was exceptional... But the service and professionalism of Shiv ensures the exceptional dining experience of any customer who visits this gem restaurant..

Absolutely delicious dishes! Love the Goan Barramundi and the Goat. The cumin rice and roti bread were perfect as sides to them. Good place. Great customer service. Staff were helpful and knowledgeable about the dishes. Would definitely recommend this place.

Went with a group of 4 people. Ordered Prawn Balacho , Kadak goat as part of 3 dishes we ordered. The food is good especially the prawns , portion size is generous for sure. Would most likely visit again to try other dishes.

excellent value for a $14 lunch and it’s Yummy!! It would be perfect if The goat’s meat can be cooked a bit longer. And we did come back for dinner a week later.

A very nice Indian restaurant. Great food, wide variety for all dietary requirements, decent portion sizes. Recommended.

We ordered Ananas Paneer Tikka, Roomali roti, subz jugalbandi, garlic naan, lamb and chicken biriyanis, Mango and Pista lassi. And I must say all the veg items were yummm.. The Paneer Tikka and mango lassi should be rated 5. We found rumali roti after a long time, as that is not usually available in most Indian restaurants here. My friends did like the biriyanis as well.
Quantity vs Price would be a 4
Service - 5
Taste - 5.5 ;)

Was worth it

Love this place! Been going here for lunch at least once a week for the last couple of years. Easily the best Indian restaurant in Parramatta in terms of quality of food and service. Tried the non-vegetarian Thali which was great but my favourite is the butter chicken platter.

After reading really good reviews on Google & Zomato and being on Parramatta's famous for all cuisines street (Church Street), I went in to expect some exotic food experience.. Itihaas is located on prime spot and this place has a really nice ambience.. And we were welcomed warmly with smile.. Ordered some entrees and followed by biryani (apparently read that it is must have here) but was really disappointed.. Biryani lacked the aroma and taste..
To give another go I went again after few days on weekdays, food quality was worse than my first experience..
Last week went again, they had changed the menu so just to give it a go ordered Ananas Paneer Tikka.. Dish looked amazing but no taste at all.. Paneer wasn't soft.. My friend couldn't even finish 1 piece of it..! We just left after that without going for mains..!!

Taste: 2/10
Presentation: 6/10
Ambience: 8/10
Service: 8/10
Value for Money: 2/10
Overall: 3/10

PS: Maybe good for Non-Veg options but definitely NO GO for Vegetarians..! 🤗

One of the best restaurants for Indian cuisine. Ordered Paneer Kadai, Veg Sampler, Rose Lassi, Cheese Naan and Kulcha.

Paneer Kadai was delicious with a combination of sweet and sour taste. Paneer was soft and fresh. The serving was sufficient for 2 people.

Veg Sampler has three varieties of starters. The stuffing in Samosa Potli was yummy and heavy with a combination of paneer, potato, peas and assorted Indian spices. Then there was Paneer cooked in Tandoor in Turmeric and toppings with Capsicum and Potato cutlets. It came with a Tamarind and dry Mango sauce.

The service is too swift and the staff is polite and friendly..

Went for lunch. Ordered some naans and veg curry. The food was good . It kept the taste buds engaged. The vig biryani was equally good. Had a decent time. Good choice if u searching for indian food in parramatta

Decent Indian food, good ambience at a premier location. We ordered a paneer tikka masala and malai kofta with naans and tandoori roti. The breads were nice and crisp, not doughy like in most Indian restaurants in Australia. The curries had just the right amount of spice. Will be back for sure :)

A casual Saturday night dinner went to church street Parramata. It was hard to find parking space.
We went to Itihaas as we wanted to have Indian food. We ordered murgh malai tikka, nilgiri korma and Naan. The ambience is good and service was also good. The starter murgh malai tikka was awesome. But the main course nilgiri korma was average nothing special or different for any chicken curry at many other restaurants.
Overall good one time visit place

Food 3/5
Ambience 4/5
Service 4/5

Itihaas sits in a plush locality of Paramatta! As you enter, the decor is very modern and attractive! The service is cordial & the food is yum! The food has the touch of fine dine on traditional cooking, which makes it eye pleasing and tongue tickling at the same time!

Had a great time here! hopefully again on next visit to Sydney

As the name suggests the restaurant will make history in future, a one of a kind authentic Indian cuisine on the oz shore. The ambience is intriguing and rusty with the view of the kitchen clearly visible where a sardarji with his team of people trying to present the best on your table in a presentable way.

I have been here on few occasions and have tasted a variety of Indian delicacies and believe me I Was never disappointed. There might be few glitches in wait time and delivery but that can be totally overlooked as there are busy periods which the staff find difficult to manage. I would strongly recommend you try the lunch thali and the banquet dinner. Masala chai is also a good option to keep you warm in the winter period. The desserts are too good not to resist the temptations of binging on some extra sacred calories😜😜

Located in paramatta this is a legit Indian restaurant!
We were craving Indian food and went right in and ordered what we like!
The vegetarians had the kachori chaat, chana masala n cheese naan n tandoori roti.
The non vegetarians settled for the banquet menu non vegetarian
We got entrées -malai murgh , masala dosa and seekh kebab...
In mains we had the butter chicken with saffron rice ! The eggplant gravy was tasty too!
Dessert was rasmalai falooda which was unique and very yummy!
Totally worth the money !!

Ambience- 4/5
Cost -4/5
Service-4.5/5
Food- 4/5
Quality- 5/5
Quantity-4/5

The food tastes well and the place has a quiet ambiance. Disappointed with the portioning, can be better. Not going in here until I get a review that says they changed their portioning.

When this place had opened up I had my reservations reading the name of the place. After exhausting all other nearby options my wife and I decided to give this restaurant a go. We went here on a quite weekday for dinner with no expectations. I ordered the sheekh kebab to start. The Kebabs were good but maybe a lil too much cumin for my palette, but went beautifully with the mint Chutney. For the mains we ordered some Lachcha Paratha and Paneer Tikka Masala. My wife went a lil adventurous and ordered the Cheese Garlic Naan. The Paneer Tikka Masala was the best that we ever had but that wasn’t the best part. The Lachcha Paratha and the Cheese Garlic Naans were better than ones I’ve had in India. The kitchen is open you could see the chef working his magic. I learnt my lesson to never judge a book by its cover and would definitely come back to try more of their menu. Kudos to the Itihaas team

Visited this place on a Friday for a friend’s birthday dinner. It turned out unexpectedly good. The bhindi masala was good but the dal makhni stole the show.

Nice food, good staff and reasonably priced . One of the few good authentic Indian restaurants in Parramatta. Must try specially some of their unique curries which you don't find in most of the other places

One good Indian restaurant in Parramatta!
The staff friendly and courteous. The food is good. They adjust the spice level as per your liking. The naan was hot and soft. The paneer masala was really very yum. Fresh paneer. The lassi was good to.
The dosa with minced lamb filling was nice a crispy on the outside. The lamb filling felt rather dry, didn't do much for my taste buds. Good sambar, red chutney and coconut chutney as an accompaniment all tasted freshly made and were spot on!

Went for dinner last week. Ordered quite a lot of things - panner tandoor for starters, then we ordered cheena palak, nihari, and roomali roti. While all the items were good, the cheena palak was too salty - when we asked them to temper the saltiness, they added loads of cream. Apart from that we had a pretty amazing evening. The drinks were good too. They have a lot of options for non alcoholics. The drinks were very well made.

I went there for a weekday lunch and ordered the non veg thali that came with a nan, rice, and 5 different bowls of daal makhani, butter chicken, mutton rogan josh, raita and gajar ka halwa. And a papad... it was a good experience. And reasonably priced.

Pathetic service...Went with my wife and 11 month old...Took my order and made me to wait for 40 minutes with no response. Reminded the waitress that I have been waiting for 40 mins with my bub, but got no response...eventhough I stay in church street would never visit this place again

I came here with my girlfriend on a Saturday night.

Service: very nice staff who looked after us very well. We were given a table outside but the portable gas fired heaters did their job well in warming us up before we got our food. Food was served very quickly too which was welcomed as we were famished.

Quality: we started with two of the $5 happy hour kingfisher and papadum deals. The chutney which came with them was minty with coriander and both of us loved it. We then ordered the clove smoked eggplant and slow cooked goat. Eggplant was the standout, perfectly smoked and seasoned with spices. The goat was also pretty good but there were a lot of bones and less meat that we expected.

Value: along with garlic naan and rice the total bill was $50 which was great considering we started with a drink. On church street this is good value overall but I'm sure you can eat for much less when dining Indian in Parramatta and Harris park.

Overall, a well priced upmarket Indian restaurant in bustling Parramatta. Worth a taste!

Went only for the starters and was amazed with the taste.. have heard good reviews from friends, so went to try out the platters and felt worth of the money and the taste was awesome

I went here for a dinner with a group of friends and we book a table via zomato. Upon arrival there was a reserved table to us which was excellent as it was full due to dinner hours.

We were seated and given menus and was given our water and drinks right after the order was taken which was good.

❌ sometimes the food did take a bit longer to come out but we did go during a busy time.

—————————————
The food we ordered was really good and full of flavour.

NON VEG:
•butter chicken
•chicken tikkamasala
•The butter chicken was delicious and the naan breads goes well with the sauce.

🌱 VEGETARIAN:
• The garlic and cheese naan was freshly made and really tasty. It is worth trying. We also got the plain and garlic naans and they were all great
•Kolapuri
•Paneer Samosas
•Aalioo Ki Tikki
•Saffron Rice + Pulao Rice

Does My Bomb Look Big In This
Parramatta is a bit of an odd dining area, but this is no reflection upon the tastes of the locals. Rather it’s about the suburb’s massive growth attracting in satellite restaurants of inner city spots with their eyes on profit-driven expansion. Church Street has become a bit of a parade of those brands focused upon the numbers - Bondi Pizza, Coco Cubano, Soul Burger, Harry’s Café de Wheels and Jamie’s Trattoria among them. While I acknowledge that the benefit to Parramatta locals is that they can now access brands they formerly had to drive to the CBD for, when I’m dining in Parramatta myself, I take the time to uncover an independent. On my last visit to the area, that search led me to Itihaas Indian Restaurant. It’s also part of the all-weather alfresco dining brigade that lines both sides of Church Street. Itihaas uses a two-hour happy hour of five-buck beers and free, well-presented pappadums and chutneys to lure in indecisive diners. After smashing a few Kingfishers myself, I’m finally cool and refreshed enough to think about food. Indian food is great on a hot night, because the capsaicin in chillies gets you sweating, which cools the skin. I kick off gently with a...

Excellent food and friendly service. Enjoyed the kachori entree, both to look at and to eat. The dal makhni was very good too. (Zomato you really shouldn't have a minimum review length.)

Been to this restaurant on a weekend. Located close to parramatta river this indian restaurant among other cuisines surely had to try it.

The ambience is done up in a rustic manner. There is indoor and outdoor seating too. We were seated inside. For drinks we ordered rum with coke.

For starters we ordered panchforan fish. Awesome presentation and very yum too. A non fish eater like me had fish. Very tasty and hubby a lover of fish relished it.

For mains we ordered malmali palak that had cottage cheese dumplings in palak gravy and garnished with ginger and green chilli. Had it along with garlic naan. Very yummy and good quantity too.

Pricing is like most other places plus drinks is also available.

Service here is a added point. The servers are very attentive and smiling too. Definitely best service to its patrons.

Would love to try more of their dishes n will be back for more. Cheers!!

Lunch specials are great. Good quantity for the price paid. Food was delicious. Only one drawback, reached the restaurant for lunch when it was 38°c. No air con was on. After requesting to turn it on the main door was left open. Little things like this matter for a fine dining restaurant. The staff need to be more accommodating and careful about this.

Centrally located on Church street, we had an great dining experience at Itihaas with freshly made mouth watering Indian Cuisine and friendly service provided by hostesses. They made us feel special and it is a must visit place for Authentic Indian food. The Bhuna Ghost and Channa Masala dishes were awesome.

Went with family for lunch and it was amazing! We ordered the lunch banquet, it was delicious and really good value. The staff were lovely, and they catered excellently for vegans (which 2 in our party were). Definitely recommend!

This place is great. It treats its patrons as true customers, the way you almost would forget should be the standard everywhere. The food was great and fresh. Strongly recommend.

we (2 couples) visited for dinner a few weeks ago and had a good experience overall!

Food was very good, not divine. The dishes were a bit off the mark on flavour and texture, but still quite good. Above par for the course certainly!.

The setting was very good, food presentation is very innovative, we really liked that. Staff was very courteous. We were offered complementary papads and a dessert platter which we felt was a very nice gesture indeed. Wasn't needed, but no one's complaining :)

I went there for the first time. We ate in the out side area. Really loved the food and the atmosphere. Complementary deserts was a pleasant surprise 🙂
