Review Pho Pasteur - Parramatta

Bruce Kerney
Absolutely magnificent.... Not nice ... not good... MAGNIFICENT.... I can be prone to coughing fits ... Unfortunately I had an episode and the amazing Rita was courteous prompt and polite to help with water till episode passed... The Lemon Tea was beautiful.. The Beef Pho flavoursome and filling.. The older owners/staff couldn't do more for a beautiful dining experience.. Many thanks to life saver Rita...

A great place for quick and comforting food. Ordered the pho (beef and beef balls as well as special) and the northern style spring rolls. Large servings. Tender beef with fresh produce, though the broth could be more fragrant with a less water ratio. The spring rolls was well seasoned with lots of fillings. Efficient and friendly service.

Had a great broken rice here on a weekday for lunch. Service was fast. Plenty of others in the restaurant. Comes with tea for free and can pay by card. All up came to $17 for a very filling meal. Will be back.

This was my first time having pho and I loved it so much. Lot of vegetation options. The food is delicious. Will definitely go back to try more

The Special Beef Pho (Pho dac biet) was full of flavour with plenty of rare beef, brisket, meatballs, tendon and tripe and the broth was perfect. The staff friendly and attentive.

Great food, no frills dining. Service is fast and polite, and takeaway is also quick and well packed. Pho and rice dishes recommended.

Delicious Vietnamese food. Generous with the fresh veggies and massive portion sizes.
Sharyn Benson
Best Vietnamese food I’ve found, including in Vietnam. Traditional Vietnamese flavours with fresh ingredients at great prices. Has been my regular for many many years and I happily travel across Sydney to eat there
Nicole Hu
Quite disappointing that the signature pho dish came out very salty. Clearly the chef hadn’t tasted the broth at all. We ordered two bowls and both came out the same. For the price, the bowl size was very small and below standard average you’d expect. Would not come back again. There are many pho gems elsewhere
IanFJ
Authentic experience and delicious food. Generous and creative presentation of food. Not happy I was charged more than prices in menu.
Gloria
it was alright. the service was fast and the portions were large, but the beef was a bit chewy and overcooked. i personally don't think i'll come here again.

Very nice and light pho!
It’s the best rice noodles I’ve ever had, it’s thinner than normal ones which makes you feel light and easy after eating, the portion size and amount of beef they give is very generous too.
Soup is a bit too sweet for me but still acceptable.
I like the onion pickle in particular too.

The worst Vietnamese restaurant ! Why in the menu they rice paper roll have vermicelli inside but the the food came I couldn’t see any vermicelli!
Peterbradley456
First time eating Viet in Sydney, and well, that was a waste of $15 ........... a fried egg, deep fried pork, rice taken from the freezer (hard and crusty) ............. but the service was quite ok. The tea was good too However, never again, Ever. Waste of money.

It's the original Pho Pasteur, what more do you want? Food is cheap, plentiful and tasty; come here and eat like Vietnamese royalty! One of the best pho in Sydney.

Pho as old as time

I was very sketpical about the place, the place looks dodgy and old. The staff war friendly, he smiles and greets to you as you enter the restaurant. People says don't judge a book by it's cover and I believe it is true from what they said. The mango drink was really good, it taste really refreshing and fresh. The pho is pretty good, not too salty and it was a clean broth.

I would recommend this place for lunch/brunch/dinner.
The Viet Guy
This is one of the top three places I come for good Pho within Sydney. The broth here is tasteful, the rice noodles is fresh and the meat is really great. The large Special bowl at $16 is HUGE! The staff here are friendly and are willing to customise your dish whichever you like.
Hungry Foodies
One of my absolute favourite pho restaurants!
Pho is always good and consistent, flavour is always there and well balanced.
Only regularly come here for their pho but their rice paper rolls are also delicious and fresh! Would highly recommend- they have large serves as well!
RWfoodie
The portions here for the Pho is quite large! Very filling with its juicy broth and meat. The rice dishes however, personally don’t meet up to par with the pho.
Jen Yen
Overhyped and the tastes just average. Portion sizes are decent and staff don’t seem to pay that much attention to you. It’s good if you’re hungry and need a quick meal but if you’re curious about what good pho tastes like I wouldn’t recommend.

If you’re craving pho around Parramatta then I would recommend Pho Pasteur. Surprisingly it tasted a lot better than the Pho Pasteur at Bankstown. The broth here was flavourful and the portion sizes were generous. Staff were quick and efficient but not friendly.

This is one of the three places in Parramatta I often visit for pho beef noodles. It wasn't too bad but I'd only rank it second after Vietastic. There was lack of flavour in the broth, which basically makes up a good pho. Rare beef came in bits and chunks, pretty inconsistent.
It's often busy during lunch hours, you'd expect to see staff walking around busily, not giving much attention to diners. It's not a bad place overall. I've yet to try their rice or dry noodles though.
I used to frequent the CBD branch and liked it a lot. Not sure what has changed over the years, but it doesn't seem to be the same anymore.

I really recommend this branch of Pho! I loved the service and the interior of the store, it’s so much like Vietnam. The taste of this Pho isn’t like any other, and it’s so unique I absolutely enjoyed it. I also ordered the peach tea and matcha tea which go well with the Pho dac biet and Pho tai.

+3 standard points for standard food
+1 sweet pickled onions
+1 deep broth
+1 no cilantro
+1 nostalgia
5 = pho-rever in my heart

The pho broth here is rich with a heavier beef flavour. Not as clear and crisp as some other establishments, but warm and so very soul reviving! Portion size is very satisfying too :)

I highly recommend the spring rolls! Wrap in lettuce for extra crunch! The noodle salad with pork chops is good too.

I was torn on this place, but after trying a bunch of other pho places (city, strathfield, hornsby) I really can’t find anywhere that tops this. Might be the nostalgia though. The family that runs this joint I remember as a kid.

Delicious and hearty pho, what else can you ask for on a cold winter night? The broth is nice and fragrant with a bit of sweetness to it. Generous portions. Service was a bit slower than your average viet pho restaurant but it was a busy Friday night and they have such an extensive menu, just not pho! So I can’t fault them on that. This was my first visit, and my boyfriends too, or so he thought. But once we had sat down, he was taken aback with a wave of nostalgia as he remembered his family had visited here before when he was a young boy (that’s how long this place has been around!). Definitely would be back if I was in the area and wanted something warm and soupy.

I heard that Pho Pasteur Pareamatta shop is different from the Sydney shop, so move my feet to try it out. I ordered a beef pho, crispy chicken tomato rice, BBQ beef rice roll and a special Vietnamese herb tea. The herb tea is interesting, but not my cup of tea. The chicken rice is average. The rice roll is good. The beef pho got different taste to the Sydney shop's one. It tastes a lot lighter and less MSG. I like it that way.
Our Flower
Large portions for an incredibly reasonable price. The pho tastes very good and the broth does not have a strong taste of msg like other places.
Michele Hackney
The chicken noodle soup here was delicious. So too was the honey chicken. I didn't love the prawn and pork spring rolls but they were ok. I loved the accompaniments that came as extras like lettuce leaves for the spring rolls and herbal leaves and bean sprouts to put in the soup amongst other things. Also very good value for money. Worth a visit.

Amazing Vietnamese food!
Come here every week after hard working. It’s a place to relax yourself with fantastic dishes.
I really love the sweat & sour flavored pickle onion and basils adding into soup.
Pho Pasteur Parramatta never fail me!! One of my fave Pho Place.. I always order the cook one and my husband love their raw one.. the kids love the pho and spring roll!! Spring roll always crunchy and tasty!! Great job!!
The waitress are nice and fast 👍

I've been to this restaurant since I was a child. Their food is so yummy and the workers there are quite friendly this restaurant takes me back to my childhood. I recommend this place 😊😊

Nice food only if you eating in... don't buy takeaway. They give you all ingredients uncooked, even the beef. If you working in an office environment you have to take uncooked beef and hope it cooks in the hot water they send you with.... dangerous!

Have visited this place several times. They are located outside Westfield Parramatta so I normally just park at Westfield and walk there. Pretty close from station too. They have wide variety of dishes and I've tried many of them. My all time favourites are the beef noodle soup (obviously) and the spring rolls!

It is not shocking that Australia may be the next place to enjoy some authentic Vietnamese food out of Vietnam. We are off the west side of Sydney today for some good Pho at Pho Pasteur just right next to the train station. . To me, growing up in Melbourne, a good Pho restaurant has to have that unique smell. As soon as I stepped into the spacious eatery. I could already smell the herb aroma, as well as the sweet and sour taste from the fish sauce, spicy chilli sauce and much more.
Zara
The best phô place in parramatta. I come here all the time if I want Vietnamese close to home at an affordable price. There's nothing special about the decor or service but the food speaks for itself

I usually get raw beef noodle soup whenever I come here but I wasn't feeling it on a Thursday night :P My friends felt like pho though, so who was I to argue? First time trying something that wasn't their pho so went with another favourite of mine - combination chow mein with crispy noodles!

Portion size was huge which is good considering it was pretty pricey. But there were no scallops at all (understandable, scallops are soo expensive right now) and only one King Prawn! Everything else was great, the chicken perhaps a bit bland but it was decent all in all. The noodles were fried very well - not oily and had an interesting airy texture to it when you bite down.

Will probably try something else next time, or just stick with a good old bowl of pho which they do decently ^^"

My favourite Pho in Parramatta. As a vegetarian their menu gives me plenty of choice and options. I recommemd their spicy vege pho, really tasty
Never fails to satisfy!!

Cheap, tasty and fresh. Authentic Vietnamese food with minimum fuss or fun fare.

And their orange juice is also really good too
A short walk from Parramatta mall sits Pho Pasteur, a reasonably sized and price pho restaurant. Family friendly with space to park your pram and plenty of high chairs, it's a good spot to hit in cold weather.

We ordered the rare beef pho. The quality was average. I found the broth a little salty and my beef was rather chunky and sinuous which is not how I've normally had this dish but it was warm and filling and the service was good. It's a no frills place to eat.

Would go back.

I always test how good a Pho place is by their Special Beef Pho. The first thing is the colour of the broth, the mix of meat in the special (raw slices, briskets, Beef balls, tendons & tripes), then the ratio of meat to noodles. In a way Pho Pasteur's version did tick all of these boxes. The broth was dark in colour, and tasted full of favours. All of the variation of Beef was included, and was generous in amount of meat in the serving. However, the texture & consistency of the tripe was a bit mushy as you bite into it, like it was over bleached. I was left really thirsty after the meal, so there's possibly msg in the broth to booster the flavours. Aside from the Pho, also got some grilled pork rice paper rolls to takeaway. There's not much filling inside each of the roll, but of what's inside was delicious & well balanced. Over still a good option for Viet food in the area.

First time I've been here as recommended by my brother in law, parking for this location can be a pain to find sometimes. Ordered their special combination beef pho, the serving size was good and plenty of meat too, soup was great! Will be back
Quality! It Shouldnt Be That Hard! Love A Wonderful Mouth Full Of Wholesome FOOD!
I have been coming here for years, it always taste the same and its consistent, there pho soup is always good, i love the chicken and tomato rice add a fried egg its amazing. I have never tried this sea food photo my partner always gets it he enjoys it better with soft noodles, the spring rolls are moth watering and leaves u wanting more...

It does not look like much when u walk there is no ambience however sometime i just like going to a restaurant eating and just sitting there in my own thoughts, the stuff are friends and easy going....

Cant wait to go back there this place reminds me of when i was over in Vietnam
Ph.D!
Decent pho place in Parramatta. Vietnamese ice coffee is ok, just a little bit diluted for my taste. Restaurant can be a bit more clean. Overall, not bad.
Hungry Vibes Only
Felt nearly like a home cooked bowl of pho!

Garnishes were abundantly provided--fresh chillies, onions, rau Huế and plenty of bean sprouts. My only gripe would be the meat could've been sliced up thinner and smaller...had trouble eating it or maybe I'm just clumsy. My personal preference is also the thicker noodles for pho.

Their lemon soda was tip-top! Avocado shake was a bit lacking in flavour.

Also, the path to the bathroom proved to be a tad dangerous.
Tastingthecloud
the place looks a bit dodgy but actually is very famous for its pho.

Delicious beef soup with load of beef. Good money value. Taste is very authentic according to my viet friends.

Despite pho, fried rice and noodle also recommended. I often came here when I worked in parra office.

Cheap but delicious eat
Crème Brulee Crack
Cheap, quick and easy pho. Flavour was OK, but I suspect a fair amount of MSG as we were very thirsty afterwards! Generous servings of basil, sprouts and chilli. Fried chicken with noodles was tasty, not too oily but very crispy.

Been walking past this place for several consecutive days without paying attention to the name. planned to see a movie in Parramatta and Pho Pasteur was suggested for dinner and just so happened to be this place. The special beef pho here was very good and the soup had good rich flavour to it - definitely one of the better pho i've had in sydney.

Pho Pasteur... What do I say?... For Vietnamese food in Sydney, it does the job. They do good. It's not crap, but it's not the best quality either. It's not the cleanest of restaurants either. It always feels like you're walking on ice skates in these restaurants. But this Pho Pasteur is one of the better ones. The pictures I've posted are of my egg noodle soup with fried pork chop.
Hello
When here with a couple of my mates. The food was decent, but we mysteriously got charged an extra $25 for "Spring Rolls" which we didn't order. I had to ask for the receipt because they don't give it out automatically, but I only realised we were overcharged/scammed once I was on the train home. Disappointed.

I've been coming here for over a decade. It's a reliable spot for a bowl of Pho. The bowl of pho is flavoursome in broth and you get your usual trimmings of thai basil, bean sprouts, lemon and complimentary tea. The food comes out pretty quickly. Bring cash!! I always take a few minties for the road as well. A great spot for a casual meal.

Decore is out dated and hasn't changed for decades but that's OK!

I've been coming here since I worked in Parramatta about 11 years and have been a regular since I moved to the area 5 years ago.

The place literally has not changed...and that's a good thing I think. The fit out is very basic (laminate tables, all the condiments on the table in a plastic tub, tissues for napkins) so you're hear for yummy food and not a fancy restaurant.

The staff are efficient and will occasionally crack a smile. The are not unfriendly, just....efficient...get 'em in, get 'em out.

They provide a picture menu and lots of menu photos on the wall if you're having trouble ordering. Pho is very popular here, but I love the Bun (Vermicelli noddles) with grilled beef - about $13.50 for a huge bowl. I usually also order a coconut juice which is coconut water with big pieces of coconut - like a drink and dessert all in one! They have some non vietnamese things on the menu like Laksa and salt & pepper prawns, so the menu should have something for everyone.

This is a great place - good value, big serves and nice, fresh food that comes out fast.

This place has been around for so many years and still remains as one of the more popular places for Vietnamese food, in particularly their pho. Don't expect overly fancy decor nor service but you'll definitely receive your food quickly.

Been visiting Pho Pasteur all over Sydney for years. I started regularly visiting when it first opened in Bankstown almost twenty years ago. The food was delicious back then. Over the years, the quality of Pho Pasteur has varied between the locations, likely due to management changes, high staff turnover...but these are just guesses.

A while back I had a horribly disappointing meal at Pho Pasteur on George Street in the city and decided I wouldn't visit the city Pho Pasteur anymore due to the poor quality. Today I decided to give Pho Pasteur in Parramatta a try today and was pleasantly surprised by the generosity of the portions and the quality of the food. I felt transported to my childhood in the 80s.

I ordered the roll-your-own lemongrass grilled beef and it was really tasty. The bits of beef were nicely barbecued and the lemon grass gave it a lovely aroma. The rice noodles were just a little bit over steamed but still went great with the beef wrapped up inside rice paper, with some bean sprouts, pickled carrots and mint. To accompany my meal I had a ca phe sua da (iced white coffee) which was the perfect balance of bitter and sweet.

I enjoyed today's meal and I'm looking forward to visiting again for another meal.
Sweetandyummie
This place is quick and reliable if your craving vietnamese. It use to be Pho Ben for many years but then switched over to Pho Pasteur. The menu is extensive like most vietnamese restaurants with all the favourites. I highly recommend the crispy noodle dishes. Food comes out in 5-10 mins. Bring cash,

Ordered special beef noodle, lower than my expectation, chunk of raw beef is weird, the noodle is not tender enough in a warm soup( not hot) , maybe I am the pho-lover, so expectation was high, not recommended at that price $14

Food: Pho, chicken + rice, spring rolls.
we have visited this place once, as recommended by a friend of ours.

The food was average, the flavours weren't as strong so it made the food a little bit bland. The service was fast which was good!

Prices weren't the best for the quality of food we had ordered.

Delicious beef noodle soup
Super healthy and tasty, a great way to have more vegetables
The spring tools are served with lettuce leaves, great combination
Will come back again
The Very Hungry Katerpilla
Good if you are after quick casual Vietnamese fast food, although I find it quite inconsistent. Sometimes the food is great, sometimes it is fine, and sometimes it is bad - the issue is usually bland soup noodles).
But with all chains, I keep coming back as Pho Pasteur is a famous chain - original in Bankstown is still the best, the city one I only went a couple of times ages ago and found it so alarmingly bad (as though the flavours were watered down to be less authentic) that I haven't been back since.

Back to the Parramatta branch.

My favourite dish to get here is the combination hue tieu.
A clear rice noodles soup with prawns, balls and pork with a lovely flavoursome broth and springy chewy rice noodles, yum. This one hasn't let me down yet.

Their pork and seafood spring rolls, as well as the vegetarian spring rolls are good too, long, crunchy, tasty filling.

Another good dish is banh hoi bo lui nuong: Grilled beef with steamed vermicelli sheets. Wrap some vermicelli, salad (lettuce, mixed mints, pickled carrots, cucumber, bean sprouts) and a grilled beef inside a sheet of softened rice paper, dip in fish sauce to eat. There's a delicious piece of onion in each lump of fragrant beef too.
If you're too lazy to diy, this grilled beef is offered in a vermicelli bowl called bun bo lui nuong so you can just dig in with chopsticks.

The bun bo hue (beef and pork spicy noodle soup) is not bad, but no Dong Ba (different restaurant).

The pho is sometimes so tasty and other times so very bland and disappointing that I don't finish.
Same with the crispy chicken which I have had with red rice, dry noodles and wet noodles.
Other dishes I found disappointing or average:
Hainan chicken rice (just boiled overcooked), com bo luc lac (pepper beef red rice) was bland, pho bo kho ( stewed tomato beef with rice noodles) was very bland.
Com bi suon cha trung - pork chop, pork skin, pork cake, fried egg, broken rice, pickles carrots, fish sauce and soup, all the elements were very average in flavour.

Still this place has a trusted name, and for the area, is the best authentic Vietnamese.

I have been here so many times I've lost count. I love the food so much I always forget to take a photo. My staple meal there is the Boiled chicken with noodles (which I always sub for steamed bok choy without hassle).

My sister and I are regulars there because the experience is always the same. The service is great and fast paced! Our food on the table within 10 minutes everytime.

The food has good flavour. True to its Vietnamese roots and the portion and prices very reasonable. This is my go to place when I'm tired or in a rush as there is little expectation from staff or patrons. I rock up In trackies scoff my food down and leave. 👌

Definitely the best pho in parramatta!

Pho Pasteur at Parramatta is your typical Vietnamese restaurant focusing on pho, don't expect exceptional but you can definitely trust the restaurant to serve up consistent pho. It's the best I've had this close to Westfield and it's cheap and convenient.
I Wong More !
Had a special beef pho, fried ice cream and rice paper rolls with friends. I like the layout of the bean sprouts, fresh onions and fresh chillis but beef soup wasnt as aromatic as other phos I had. Beef was really tender and yummy. quick lunch or dinner at Parramatta is okay but dont make a special trip to try it

Typical viatnamese soup joint. A lot of variety, not too expensive, ok ambience. Certainly not bad for a nice hot bowl of soup on a cold or rainy day.

Recently reopened Pho Pasteur not so good. Went to this recently reopened restaurant and we were disappointed with the meals and the environment. Beef Pho tasted mostly of cloves and was way too salty. Have had this meal in other vietnamese places and was much nicer elsewhere. Even tasted this here prior to reopening and it was better before. During our meal, a staff member sat near us eating their dinner which would have been ok but he was coughing loudly and not covering his mouth when doing so. There were some kids (owners kids I believe) playing ball in the restaurant while we were eating which probably is part and parcel of a trip to vietnam but seemed out of place here. Have been here twice since it reopened - first time we were wondering why we were the only ones there (normally a few other diners around) and the 2nd time we ate there was just one other couple. Now we know why - very disappointing that the standard has dropped so much after opening as Pho Pasteur. Maybe the owners could learn a trick or two from watching the kids playing in their restaurant - they didn't drop the ball.

Pho pasteur is my go to place for pho back in Sydney. Conveniently located on the Asian side of Church St Parramatta, this is my travel family's favourite place to dine. Fast, friendly service and cheap menu make for a good meal all round.
Raw Beef Pho - $11.50 (reg), $13.50 (large) I love the darker soup that comes with the beef, I think it has a richer flavour, but I'm not a big fan of red meat apart from heavenly lamb. That being said I do go for the special beef if I want beef, but my friends love raw beef. The meat is quite good quality, not a lot of sinew and doesn't get tough too fast. Also their serving sizes are massive, unless I've skipped a meal and am starving, I never manage to finish a regular.

Pho Pasteur is a well known restaurant in Parramatta. There's a copy cat on Argyle St as well which is a cleaner version. I like to go to both for different reasons. I line the original store on Church St because I think the Pho (Noodle Soup) broth is amazing and full of flavour. This restaurant has been in Parramatta forever. Apparently it's famous in Saigon according to the spoon. The regular size of Pho Tai is $11.50 (Noodle soup with Raw Beef) and is more than adequate for your average appetite. The broth is full of flavour and packs a punch of flavour. Compliment the flavours of the broth with thai basil, lemon, chili and bean sprouts! If you love the classic pho flavours, you can also add more hoisin sauce and thick chili sauce. If you read through all my Vietnamese blogs, you'll see that I order the Vietnamese pancake when I can because I love it! It's generally full of bean sprouts, a touch of pork and a few rare prawns ($14.50). The Pho Pasteur Church St version is good b

Once upon a time Pho Pasteur (137 Church Street, Parramatta) was the place to go for some decent Vietnamese cuisine in Parramatta. My last memory of the restaurant was of high quality, flavoursome food without needing to dig deep into the bank, but having not been there for two years, a lot has changed since then. Located opposite Parramatta train station and along the bus interchange strip, Pho Pasteur is hard to miss, but in hindsight it probably would have been wiser to miss it altogether. Afterwards, we realised that going to the original Pho Pasteur around the corner would probably have been the smarter choice, but I've also had friends telling me otherwise. Outside We grab our orders with the help of the picture menu and it looks really promising. Picture Menu Inside Nuoc Mam, Beansprouts, Mint, Lemon & Chilli This is the large Pho Bo Special ($12.50) with all the usual suspects including; rare beef, beef balls, tendons and tripe. The place is called Pho Pasteur, and it's just outside the westfield. It was pretty easy to find, even for me who's only been to Parramatta like twice. It was actually really crowded- we got there at almost 2pm and the restaurant was full! There was 7 of us- my parents, 4 relatives and I, but we all got put on a small, corner table that only sat around 4 people and was way too squishy. We struggled a lot to fit plates on the table and had to do a lot of dish stacking.
On The Chopping Board
On my recent visit to Sydney I had a few hours to spare in Parramatta on a weekend and was walking near Westfield shopping centre when I saw 3 letters that caught my eye - PHO.... Those who've been following this blog will know I love my noodles, especially Pho. The next thing I knew, I was sitting down ready to order. Pho Pasteur in Parramatta My benchmark dishes for any new Vietnamese restaurant is a Pho and Combination Broken Rice. My current favourite in Adelaide is Hoang Gia Quan where in my opinion have been serving the best Pho and Combo Rice for many years.

I was catching up with a friend who lives around Parramatta, so we decided to revisit one of our old haunts at Pho Pasteur. Today we decided to try the newer one of the two located in Parramatta (under Westfield) and went for the rare beef pho and the special pho. The prices have gone up since the last time we visited (probably 2 or 3 years now), but are still at a reasonable price of $11 for a regular bowl or $12 for a large size. Both toppings were delicious, but it's the broth that makes it stand out. The broth is definitely sweeter than most pho places, and is light and refreshing.
Miss Kimbers
It is simple, the food is tasty and that is all you need. You go in, eat your phở, feel full, happy and warm.
The Random Foodie
When you ask where is the best place for Pho, Parramatta will not be the first suburb that comes into mind. Despite that, they have quite a few Vietnamese restaurants including two under the Pho Pasteur brand. Back in my uni days, Pho Pasteur at Haymarket has been a regular place to eat in between and after lectures/tutes. The newer, glossier branch is located at Westfield near Nando's while the original Parramatta branch lies a bit further on the quieter side of Church Street. This review focuses on the latter. Despite the availability of two Pho Pasteur restaurants in close proximity, the old-school branch with retro-style décor still gets very packed throughout the day. In fact when I got in, there was at no seats available bar a small table near the back.

Deep fried ice cream was pretty good except it was cooked in old oil that was used to cook savoury dishes... you could taste it. I'd continue to shop around for deep fried ice cream.
Potato Princess
J chose the Bun Bo Hue, a spicy beef and pork soup with noodles. She said it was quite good, but towards the end the spicyness built up so it was quite hot!
Le Bon Vivant
Pho Pasteur, named after a street in Saigon renowned for its celebration of Vietnam's national dish is unabashed in laying its cards on the table, and despite the large and diverse supporting menu, not surprisingly it's the heart warming Pho that clearly steals the show. Humble in origin, but so immensely rich in tradition, the soulful and restorative qualities of this incredibly versatile noodle soup has brought such profound joy to both sides of an often troubled nation. If anything positive has come from the tumultuous events that have forced some of those to flee their homeland, it's that this dish is now shared, loved and re-interpreted the world over. Located in the Chinatown precinct of Church Street (also in Haymarket and Blacktown), the slightly dated interior and street façade brings a raw street food like authenticity to the long mirrored room that bustles with the local Asian community not in the slightest bit concerned with preconceptions over hats, ce

As neither of us fancy hanging out in the rain we jump on a bus and although heading out to an Indian cultural festival we decide we’ll grab some quick and tasty Vietnamese from Pho Pasteur.

Good food - worse customer Service. Been coming to this place for nearly 5 years every time I shop in Parramatta Westfield. Always try to think that the owners should have know me by now. But till today no "polite customer service". I always hoped that this will change but today they just crossed the line. The same lady and same way of talking to a customer. I Don't want to be treated like a king but at least a little bit of gesture would not kill anybody. This is the last lunch I am having in this place after 5 years.
4chillies
Ok.... The broth was flavoursome but was a bit on the sweet side. Lots of stuff in it which was good. It filled me up.
Daniel J
Don't be fooled. This is not the Pho Pasteur that once stood where Pappa Rich is now. This place on Church Street has food that is far below par. Tasteless pho tai, plain tomato rice and luke warm fried dishes. Best you look elsewhere for your Viet food hit.
Micko
Best Pho ever. The Pho Tai at Pho Pasteur is perfectly balanced, and the Bun Bo Xoa is delicious too!
GabrieltakesonSyd
Great cheap eat. Whenever in Parra I always stop by here for lunch. I've fallen in love with their special beef pho and their beef phos in general. Such fantastic flavour. The regular is certainly more than enough to fill you, but in case you want more noodles and meat the large is only $1 extra. Hubby had the large and he eats a lot so it was good to hear him say that his meal completely satisfied him.
Whenever I get noodle soups I don't usually drink all of the broth, but this broth demanded to be drinken. It was fantastic! I absolutely loved it. No sauces were needed to be added.
This place also provides tea free of charge with every meal. Highly recommend this place even if it is just for the pho. Staff are also lovely and the food arrived very quickly.

Not a baby friendly environment. I have been there today with my baby. The waitress keep mentioned that our prams will block the place after 12:00 PM since there will be more customers to come. We have put our pram in the place where they instruct us. But when they didnt mentioned these to the newest customers which bring their prams. Then when I asked her to heat up my baby food for 30 seconds, she said the kitchen is busy and because my baby food has no lid then it will make a mess on their microwave. But honestly this is a sandwich!!! She mentioned sandwich can eat cold while i said there is a chicken inside. She keep insisted that i can not heat up my baby food eeventhough i cover it on the plate with tissue. then I asked another waitress and she heat up the baby food for me for 30 seconds.
Therefore, after i make a payment, i asked the cashier (old man) whether in future i can heat up my baby food there if I eat there. He said yes. Then I said that lady said no, while i point my finger to her. Then I walk away from that restaurant.
Really dissapoint with this treatment!!!

Where did my previous review go?. I usually come here to eat if im around PArramatta, though prices have gone up the food is still good, service is usually fast and ambience is limited.
AS good as the Vietnamese you would get in Cabramatta

Decent Pho. Food - 7/10
Service - 5/10
Ambience - 5/10
Value - 6/10

I've only really tried the Pho at this place, the broth is very sweet and syrupy? Nicely flavoured. The service is pretty crap and the decor's similar to all Vietnamese restaurants (minimal). For about 10 bucks you can be decently well-fed on the pho. Be warned though, you'll be very thirsty afterwards!

Good Pho!. After hearing great reviews about Pho Pasteur across the Internet, we decided to find out what all of the fuss was about and to put our taste buds to the test. Our first test though was trying to work out why there were two Pho Pasteur restaurants in Parramatta. Apparently they are both part of the same chain of restaurants also found in Bankstown and in the city.

We opted for the original Pho Pasteur restaurant on Church Street seeing as though the Westfield restaurant was disappointingly empty dead on lunch time.

The usual range of Phos were available: Raw Beef, Cooked Beef, Beef Balls, Tripe and Chicken Pho. They also had a Stewed Beef Pho and a Spicy Pork & Beef Pho. The regular sized Pho was $10.50 while for a mere $1 more, you could up size to a large. We did notice however, that the larger size consisted of more noodles not more broth.

The Raw Beef Pho was superb. It was light, fresh, clear and very smooth. I could drink this broth straight, no noodles required. They seemed to be more generous with the onion garnish here than their competitors however we did notice that satay sauce was missing from the table. This was easily rectified with a call to the waiter.

The Chicken Pho however was very disappointing. The chicken tasted like a roasted chook, it didn't seem authentic at all. The broth did not taste light and fresh as did its counterpart. There was a great difference between the qualities of the two Phos which made it very hard to believe that they came from the same kitchen.

The experience here was a little hit and miss. If you do find yourself at Pho Pasteur on Church Street, we'd recommend ordering a Pho with beef broth and giving the Chicken Pho a miss.

Great Vietnamese. We ate here last weekend and the food was excellent. We had beef pho (raw beef), prawn rolls, chicken curry and prawn/pork with noodles. We only recently came back from Vietnam and this is a pretty good copy.

I've been going to this place for almost a decade now. Best pho I've ever had. I've move further away from it now but still go there once a week. Don't be fooled by the look of the restaurant. The best Asian food comes from the least modern restaurants.

This place has a large menu so the choice is there but the quality isn't the best. I tried the tomato rice with beef. The rice was a bit dry and the taste was average. The price isn't bad but you could pay the same for a good meal in Viet restaurants in the Canley Heights, Cabra and Bankstown.

Below average. I've never been a fan of Pasteur but I thought I'd give this place a go. This ambience was pretty bad, as you can see the place did not look clean. The food was quite expensive and the quality was pretty bad. I wouldn't mind paying for that price if the place was cleaner.
