Fresh Sushi rolls and they are made to order. Great price. Small cute and cozy place to have afternoon snacks.
Nice food and good service
This is probably the best sushi place I’ve been to. All their ingredients are so fresh and extremely tasty! Can’t go wrong with a magma or grilled sushi roll- best thing on their menu. Their teriyaki chicken is also amazing! Once you eat here, it’ll be hard to eat at another sushi joint.
Delicious authentic ramen. The servings are quite big and would be good for sharing. We also had the tempura and avo roll which tasted so fresh!
Best sushi restaurant in parramatta - a small hole in the wall with majority outside seating. Sushi is fresh, dishes come in generous portions, and tempura is fried nicely. Overall food is delicious and cheap.
Great food well cooked and always fresh, a good choice of food from Edamame Beans to Gyoza to Sashimi and cooked mains as well.
Staff are friendly, polite and efficient.
Always fresh and delicious! Come here for most of my lunches, reasonably priced.
Get the hand roll for a delicious experience.
The staff are very friendly.
I visited more then once, always same quality and food service. Highly recommend.
FOOD: 9.5/10
takoyaki octopus balls were delicious,
curry was hot and medium spicy, chicken was crispy and rice was moist,
ramen was okay,
overall highly recommend.
PRICE: $
SERVICE: 10/10
Barely enough seats for a decent amount of people but the food is delicious compared to other Japanese restaurants I’ve tried. I recommend everything, but especially the rice dishes
Best cost-effective sushi I have had. In saying that, the flavour of the sushi’s is absolutely excellent or almost perfect! The ramen is fair. Will surely recommend to my friends.
I’ve been to a lot of sushi places in Sydney and Kanzo is one of my absolute favourites. It’s a hidden gem easy to miss because of its small size and low maintenance exterior.
The sushi here is amazing. The soft shell crab roll is my favourite!! They really aren’t stingy on the fillings like a lot of places are and the prices are so so affordable. The sauces they use on top of the sushi are just right. They’ve got so much variety on their menu so you’ll be sure to find something you enjoy eg udon, salads, rice etc.
My go-to sushi joint when I’m at work. The grilled scallop roll and grilled salmon roll are my absolute favourites!
Food is always good and staff are welcoming too. Restaurant is quite small with only 2 tables and a few tables outside but most of the time that’s not a problem as people tend to have it for takeaway. Waiting times during lunch hours can be longer too.
Simple but delicious
I had a great time eating in this restaurant and it was a good experience. I bought a Karage and Katsu Bento with some basic salad. The meat was tender and juicy, it was delicious.

Ramen is not good, I don't think they know how to make good Ramen. The base is wrong and it doesn't taste like any Japanese Ramen that I've tried. On a good note the Agedashi tofu is really good with the broth. It's clean, salty and taste amazing in your mouth. It's like a sexy salt bath in your mouth.
a pretty small Japanese restaurant operated by Korean. The food was not too bad with high money value. Love their tempura prawn.
Will visit the place again or takeaway in the future~
Such a pleasant dining experience with my family and partner. The food was Devine for a small place off the beaten track. My salmon was tender and the sushi was served so nicely.
I'm a sucker for teriyaki chicken and Kanzo Sushi delivered the goods with their teriyaki chicken donburi served with miso ($10). The teriyaki looked delicious and glossy on the chicken and the flavour was intense. I enjoyed the donburi however struggled a little at the end when the sauce got a bit overwhelming.
My friend tried the karaage bento with teriyaki fish ($13.50) and absolutely demolished the box. Good portions for the price paid.

Being a hotspot in Parramatta with an impressive rating of 4.5, I decided to try out the restaurant Kanzo. There’s two locations, one for mainly takeaway and another down the street for dining in. Following the first address on google maps, I was led to the takeaway locations with few seats, not realising the other location till staff directed customers outside the door. Make sure you visit the appropriate location to get the full experience!
Staff were nice and there was an extensive menu, from burgers to fried noodles. I opted for the large vegetarian roll, tempura udon (veggies only) and a side of miso soup (contains beef). The sushi was very fresh and light, however I wish tofu was only of the options for the large sushi rolls. The broth of the udon noodle soup was very flavoursome and warming, as well as the miso soup. It didn’t stop there, the noodles were the best i’ve tried, closely followed Mappen’s udon. It had a great texture, very elastic and complemented the fried tempura and tasty broth very well. I hoped for a wider variety of vegetables used in the tempura such as green beans, eggplant or sweet potato, but instead there was just pumpkin, zucchini and carrots which were very undercooked.
All in all, a great menu with loads of veg options, I would return to try the agedashi tofu, fried noodles, ramen and more udon at the dine in location.
Tried their Grilled Salmon Roll. It’s amazing! Better than expected. The texture of the salmon was nice, extra point for the tempura prawn inside hehe! Also tried their teriyaki chicken, which was again, amazing!! Love the taste of the teriyaki sauce! It’s pretty strong if you compare it to usual ones. (Not to mention, totally worth the price for such quality)
We often frequent kanzo in Parramatta and is often known as the best Japanese in Parra. It's super popular and you'll have to wait for a table after 12.30pm. The food is fresh and authentic. Highly recommended
Food 4 stars
Pricing 3 stars
Great tasting food, I love when it actually taste Japanesey and not Chinese. Everything was solid and great portions. But from a students pov, it’s slightly pricey.
This place is great for fresh sushi and japanese food at a reasonable price. I ordered the teriyaki chicken salad bowl which was very tasty and fresh. Others ordered chicken katsu curry which was also very tasty and a generous serving. The sushi rolls were also delicious.
The place is very small and there is limited seating, so it can be a little difficult getting a spot. The service was also not that great and could be improved. However i would recommend for tasty and affordable japanese food
Kanzo is the best Japanese restaurant in Parramatta. Their teriyaki chicken and grilled salmon rolle is really delicious. The salad range is a must try. The katsudons are juicy and not dry. Place always packed.
Hands down favourite sushi place!! I’ve eaten here 3 times and the service and food is still amazing. The sushi is really fresh and portions are very generous for the price! Salmon and avo sushi is a definite and the grilled salmon sushi is to die for 🤤🤤🤤 The California roll was so nice and fresh!! The udon was very nice on a cold night and gave us a generous amount. Takoyaki amazing as usual. Been to both the takeaway and restaurant Kanzo in Parramatta and both are good in my opinion. The restaurant one is definitely more comfortable and spacious.
Small cute sushi place that always but always has the freshest and nicest sushi. Prices are incredibly affordable for all on the menu, Kanzo never disappoints :)
Having opened a second location just down the road from the first, Kanzo is bigger and better than ever. With all my old favourites still on the menu, they’ve refined their offerings to provide a casual dining experience that really is value for money. Expect fresh, vibrant sushi and sashimi, and make sure you don’t leave without trying the grilled salmon roll!
This review is for their new location 'Kanzo Fresh Sushi Seasons' located just down the road from the original. With the upgrade came a fresh new-look menu, brimming with everything from sashimi to donburi, udon and ramen. Nothing particularly innovative by any means, but everything I look for in a local, casual Japanese restaurant – fresh sushi and sashimi, and all the classics done well.
One of the best ramen noodle houses out west, it is small and cozy and can be tough to find a seat during peak times at lunch/dinner, but if you can get a seat it's worth the wait. The set combo's are good value for money as well. I usually get a plain ramen with a Rainbow or Dragon sushi roll to share.
Came here with two other friends and ordered four dishes to share !
Surprisingly cheap, decent size portions and quite tasty!
Would recommend for anyone wanting to get a quick and affordable Japanese fix 😋
Staff was cute and sweet people ! Sushi is amazing, the type of sushi where you don’t need sauce. The special rolls are sushi rolls with sauce/meat on top ! Looks and taste absolutely amazing.
Large restaurant & friendly staff. Food came or quickly and was fresh and delicious. They are accommodating to specific dietary request. Pricing was very reasonable.
My go-to sushi place! Honestly soo affordable for the quality that you pay! The magma roll is a little spicy, so for all you spice lovers, this is the perfect roll! We opted for the usual salmon roll, which can never go wrong, especially when there is lots of sauce on it! And to freshen up with a small plate sashimi! Definitely one of my favourite sushi places to go to!
Always a local fave, their grilled salmon rolls are the best in Sydney! Sashimi is always fresh and their new store is great - making wait times a lot quicker.
Budget friendly and great tastes too. Worth a visit. Fusion of Japanese and Korean brings delicious meal to your table. Service is quick and precise
Favourite sushi joint in Sydney. The prices are cheap compared to other places, but definitely bigger servings here!! And you won’t believe how fast the service is here... ordered a large salmon and avocado roll and it legit came in 2 minutes and it was extremely fresh. Would recommend.
So quaint and comfortable, Kanzo is the perfect place to hide away in as you devour some seriously delicious food.
Portion sizes are amazing and everything tastes so fresh. Highly recommend the rainbow roll!
Amazing staff . Really cool venue , with fresh sushi and nigiri.
I have been to Tokyo and eaten the best sushi money can buy and I really think this place nails it for the money you pay you get good quality and friendly service.
Ordered the grilled salmon roll, a large sashimi platter and orange juice which was around $45 in total, which is a good price for sashimi and a large roll.
The grilled salmon is pretty dam good. I didn’t think the sashimi platter was that fresh but the texture and flavour was still good.
It’s just across the road from the lobby of Meriton George Street so it’s a great place to go if you’re staying the night.
Always fresh and delivers the perfect amount of items for lunch and dinner. Always ordered the magma and grilled salmon nigiri with a small sashimi platter. It is delicate and the texture of pieces makes it so delicious that it makes me wanna come back everytime.
One of the best Japanese restaurant in Sydney. Everything on the menu is delicious, the price is very reasonable. Service is efficient, would definitely recommend this place to everyone .
One of my favourite sushi joints. I used to go to the older one as well and now the newly renovated place in George Street is much nicer and more spacious. The sushi here is delicious as well as their salads. My friend ordered the magma roll and I got the chicken katsu salad base with you sesame dressing but asked to change it to the grilled chicken instead (wanted to try something new). The regular katsu salad is amazing as well. Service has always been good and prices are very reasonable. Never disappoints! I highly recommend this place for a Japanese feed.
Ordered the grilled salmon roll and swapped out the avocado for cucumber (very happy they were able to do that). The roll was fresh and had nice flavour but just a little too much brown sauce.
It is my go to lunch place if I didn't know what else to eat. Always fresh, love their sushi, and good consistency. It can get very busy at lunch time though.
In the words of Luke Cage: "Sweet Christmas!" I think I've found my new go to sushi place. Tried their special rolls, salmon salad and nigiri in 3 visits. Have not yet once been disappointed.
Let me just say that the grilled scallop roll and the volcano (unagi) roll are to die for. Each is like opening a treasure chest, where hidden inside the grilled scallop roll is a generous amount of salmon sashimi and there's also the crispiest tempura at the centre of the volcano roll. Both very delicious. Salmon salad is super refreshing if you decide to go with the sesame dressing. Very generous servings which will definitely fill you up. Will be back again!
Pretty good value Japanese. The sashimi is fresh - although lacking in variety. Lots of variety in sushi and rolls. Service was friendly. I would go again
I have previously been to the smaller Kanzo further down George St (6/55 George St), so today I tried the bigger and newly opened one (109 George St)!
It is super fresh, has heaps of options and offers speedy service. A great quick and easy feed that also happens to be quite cheap! Make sure to try the black rice too - very tasty.
Amazingly fresh and delicious sushi and sashimi, their bento boxes never fail to please! A small store with limited seating but they offer takeaway and their staff are very friendly.
We ordered the 9 piece sashimi, Karage chicken bento with teriyaki chicken and the pork katsu bento for 2 people.
Quality: Sashimi was only salmon as we were told that tuna wasn't available. Nice texture and flavour but possibly a bit less firm than chilled or freshly cut sashimi. Bentos were well presented but the pork katsu crumb wasn't particularly crispy and the katsu sauce was reminiscent of BBQ sauce. Teriyaki chicken was excellent and very well matched with the coleslaw salad bed it came on. Miso soup was some of the best I've had in recent memory.
Service: very prompt with the food after ordering. Miso was brought out immediately which was appreciated as I was ravenous. Good amount of time between the sashimi and bentos
Value: excellent value compared to similar Japanese food in Parramatta CBD. This is really good value for money at only $13 per bento.
Overall: Great service and value for money. Food is yummy but make sure you go early in the day so you can be sure it is as fresh as possible!
What I liked best about this place: I love Japanese and always suggest it when meeting up with friends. My friends and i meet at Parra often and the food choices just keep increasing. We came here because it has high ratings. And whenever we walk past it's always busy. The food was very tasty! I want to go again already!
By far the best sushi out in the west. The sushi is always fresh and is full of flavour & the new outfit on George Street is a great addition. Service is always good & with food tasting this great, you can't go wrong. Highly recommend!
Great fresh sushi , salad was definitely value for $$. Would recommend the soft shell crab roll. New store further down the road has great seating and service too
Went to the new shop further down the road. Good food - had tempura udon, large sashimi platter, unagi roll. Everything was so fresh. Great to see a small shop expand into something bigger for the benefit of the parra foodies
The grilled salmon roll and grilled scallop roll are my absolute fav, I order them every single time. Have also tried the medium rolls (salmon + avo) and salmon avo salad - consistently generous and fresh salmon portions, super tasty. Would recommend this original kanzo over the new and bigger building they opened up down the road (menu is very different in the new one and the service and quality of sushi there was disappointing).
*Cannot comment on the hot/cooked dishes as I have never tried these, my review is solely based on the sushi/"cold" dishes.*
Fresh sushi, good price and service. Also kid friendly will definitely be back. The wasabi is mild. Can be a bit saucey but otherwise great food.
Go to sushi restaurant ♡
The vegetarian tofu avo salad is a must get, I literally have dreams about this. The texture is so smooth and sweet and tangy, honestly a genius' creation. The only thing I disliked was the actual environment which was a little dinghy, but I heard they've moved partly to a new place so I'm looking forward to visiting.
Fantastic sushi! Had the cheesy katsu special and it was great! Dtr loved the tuna and avo hand roll and everything in the chicken teriyaki bento combo was delicious! Thankyou!

+3.5
Tried the grilled scallop with salmon avocado roll (6pc for $12). It was tasty and the scallop and salmon portions were generous, but there was a lot of mayo and brown sauce, which some may love and others may dislike. It was hard to taste the rice and seasoning due to sauce, so I cannot comment on this aspect.
Also tried the chicken nanban set with rice salad and miso soup. The chicken nanban was not crispy and the tartare sauce lacked tang, tasted more like a mayonnaise with extra egg. It was a filling set and good value at $15 but it left me a craving for the chicken nanban at Mizuya.
I would still return for a quick feed and try other sushi and sashimi.
Loved the old place, living the new place!!
Still the same good, solid Japanese food. Still very affordable. The new resto is bigger and brighter with a really attentive wait staff
Great, tasty, fresh Japanese food. You can order cheap eat mains or fancy or even fancier sushi rolls. The salmon salad is a delicious fresh big bowl of healthy yumminess, the grilled salmon special roll deliciously packed full of flavour. I'm told the curry chicken was fantastic. Will definitely come again!
Kanzo has recently moved into its new building further along George Street which is beautifully fitted out.
The service here is friendly, prompt and efficient and the food here is absolutely stunning and delicious.
Make sure you get there early otherwise you have to wait for a seat.
Eat here.
The ingredients are soo fresh - the food is served fast & the Japanese flavours are authentic. I've been several times - but my favourite dish is the Salmon & avocado salad. For $8.50 you get a huge portion and it's filling and delicious.
Food comes out fast, but the only downside of this place is that it's not a very nice place to sit as it's cramped, feels kinda unclean and the menus are tacky.
Worth it for the food. Check it out.
This humble Japanese restaurant honestly surprised me. We were extremely hungry and saw that this small place had a lot of people waiting, so decided to queue to see what the fuss was about. And we were not disappointed. The food was good for its price and I definitely recommend the sashimi and sushi- those were delicious. The udon was also incredibly tasty and not overly salty as I find other places to be.
What's funny is that we went past another Japanese restaurant whose interior is beautiful and new, yet there was no one inside. While this slightly run-down and humble restaurant was bustling with people. Says a lot, really.
Only one downfall is that we had to sit outside and the seats are placed on a slope which made it quite awkward. But hey, we didn't come for the seats. We came for food.
Japanese is honestly one of my fave cuisines! I went to Kanzo with my friends last Monday night and it was so good to be in a cosy little restaurant, away from the cold Sydney weather.
I've been having a ramen craving for ages now so of course I had to order their delicious chicken katsu ramen. Food was served quickly and it totally hit the spot for me. Fried chicken with noodles, soup and heaps of veggies - what more could you want?
Unfortunately, I'm not a sashimi eater compared to my friends but they did encourage me to have some of their seared salmon sushi roll and it was OUT OF THIS WORLD! The salmon was perfect and the special mayo sauce they used - it was goddamn amazing. Definitely the highlight of the night.
So happy I can hit up a place in Parramatta for a Japanese fix. For all your sushi, ramen & udon needs, Kanzo will come to the rescue!!
Kanzo is a cosy little Japanese joint in the heart of Parramatta on George St. This restaurant is always bustling with customers. While you sit inside the restaurant, there are a lot of takeaway orders being done as well. Turnover is also quite fast so I've never had to wait for a table here despite the small sized restaurant.
I was recommended by my friend to have the sushi here. The first time I went, my family wanted hot food so we ended up not ordering any sushi and I was slightly underwhelmed. After this first visit, I decided I'd follow my friends advice and ordered sushi and sashimi and it did not disappoint!
I highly recommend their Grilled Salmon Roll, Grilled Salmon Nigiri, Sashimi, Fresh Salmon Roll with Avocado and their special rolls. The salmon is always very fresh, and their portion sizes for the salmon on the sushi is quite a generous ratio.
Their prices are very decent, I've never had to pay over $20pp for a very decent feed. I highly recommend this place, especially if you're after good sushi or sashimi!
First day in Parramatta, and I was ravenous having skipped breakfast. I decided on something healthy for lunch and quickly searched for some well rated eateries.
Kanzo is a small local restaurant with limited tables seated both inside and out. Saturday lunch time it was busy but not too bad, service we adequate, but to be honest with these prices for Japanese food it's to be expected. I decided on the sashimi bento box, since I've been craving fresh fish lately. The bento box was generously portioned, on the left was 4 slices of fresh salmon, sliced prawn and what I assume is tuna, doused in sesame sauce on a bed of freshly grated cabbages and carrots. I just love sesame sauce do it was easily appreciated. On the right was 4 slices of fresh salmon and two slices of tuna, with an accompaniment of customary ginger and wasabi on the side. The fish was decent, not exceptionally fresh but still good. The bento came with a bowl of rice and a miso soup.
Overall I was quite satisfied, quality was fine and the price was good for the food that I got. Service was a bit slow but it's to be expected at these busy small locals. I will come again if I'm after cheap Japanese.
Can’t complain about this place! There are very few good Japanese restaurants in Western Sydney but this is one of them. There is limited seating but this doesn’t affect the experience at all. The food is great – it’s cooked very well, high quality, and also affordable. I enjoy the bento boxes and the sushi is always tasty and fresh. I’ve noticed that they’re also pretty speedy getting the meal to your table. Staff are very friendly and accommodating if you prefer a seat in a particular spot. They are also open until 9pm on weekdays which I think is great since there are not many other good options around the area.
I have tried Kanzo for more than 10 times. My experience is that they have the best grilled salmon rolls which is the must try. All of my friends love it after my recommendation.
It's a small restaurant with barely 20 seats inside. They're so busy on the weekend but luckily the wait wasn't too long for a table.
The salmon nigiri was nice and not too expensive. my fresh salmon avocado roll was $10 and boy was there a lot of salmon in it! Teriyaki chicken was tasty and well portioned.
Definitely one to try if you're in Parramatta
Delicious meal! For a Sunday they were quite busy but waited no longer than 5 minutes for our first entree to come out which was beautiful and fresh. lovely staff, very helpful! Have also had their salmon loves platter which was made on the spot in 10 minutes to take away. Amazing !
Great food and fast service. This is our "go to" place for lunch and dinner. Oh, did I tell you the prices are also very reasonable. They get very busy during lunch and dinner, be sure to call in advance.
Given the lack of good Japanese food in Parramatta, this is one of my favourite locations to satisfy those sushi cravings. Service isn't necessarily always attentive, but the food is always tasty.
Grilled salmon sushi was amazing! We really enjoyed the light & crispy prawn tempuras. We ordered the Pork Katsu with rice but it was a tad dry.
Great food, fair prices, quick turnaround in order. My only qualm with the place is that it's tiny. Minimal seating and what seating there is, is cheap and small. Go for the food, but not for a comfortable outing. Might be better advised as a takeaway option.
One of the best and cheapest places to eat Japanese food around. If you guys want to try authentic food at a reasonable price, come along to this place. It's small and cosy but trust me, it's worth it. :)
Unexpectedly great sushi here at this tiny Japanese spot in parramatta. If you are looking for cheap comfort food, I would highly recommend this authentic restaurant.
It was delicious ! Always seen this place and finally went to try it. Big servings and fresh. Recommend this place for anyone who wants a good Japanese feed in Parramatta!
Located in the heart of parramatta CBD is this little Japanese gem, generous serving and great tasting sushi at such an amazing price! Definitely my go-to sushi joint whenever I'm at Parramatta.
Carlo Del Fabbro really fresh sashimi and sushi ❤️ never thought it gonna be so delicious. Also takoyaki is amazing. Next time want to try the eel 😋
I can see why it's rated so well and why it's so popular. This Japanese eatery is tiny but that's ok because they also do take away. A great variety of high quality dishes.
I have visited Kanzo twice in the last month and I'm in food love. I've only had the Chicken Katsu Karaage and King Prawn Tempura. On both occasions, the meat and accompanying condiments were very flavoursome. My only complaint is the lack of seating. I pray that they one day they will choose to expand. Highly recommended and will be back!
We were invited by our friend to venture out into her neck of the woods in the west. She gave us the choice of where to eat so we decided upon this popular Japanese restaurant located on George Street, Parramatta. One thing the photos do not convey is the size of the place; it was tiny! Luckily, we were able to get a table after only a short wait and our friends showed up just in time.
