Review Saute Thai Restaurant - Parramatta

Fakhra Maan
Have had food here off and on over the years. Latest was last night, has good indoor and outdoor seating. Attentive service, delicious food with generous serving size. Hubby and I both had leftovers for lunch today and it still tasted great.

Went for lunch, food was awesome, friendly staff and quick service. Highly recommend lamb massaman,

Not the best Thai restaurant around. Dishes lacked vegies and flavour. Noodles were undercooked.

Usually an intimate and pleasant place to eat. When they are good they are very good. Wait staff need to be more attentive. My last visit, food wasn't as enjoyable. Have dined in-house many times and had home delivery which was always delicious. This may be dependent on which kitchen staff is on which night as to how scrumptious the food will turn out. I hope they don't lose their love for producing good tasty food. It's difficult getting good Thai food in the locality.

This was my first time in a Thai restaurant, the food and service were really good

Highly recommended authentic Thai restaurant around Parramatta. There are plenty of choices to accommodate a variety of tastebud. Staff are welcoming and proactive when asked for help. The speed of service is great. The price range is on a upper price range but you get good quality food.

Relatively good place to have a quick lunch time meal, also a great option for takeaway at pretty good prices. The service is often tops and adequate, with the minor exception every now and then, but you're treated to great Thai food at various spiciness levels and a nice atmosphere.

Food is nice, but after i asked for gluten free and explained i had an allergy, they still managed to get it wrong! Now I'm stuck with a 4-day bout where i have to deal with the after effects..... Not happy Jan! If you have allergies and need to be sure, i wouldn't again. Otherwise the food and service is pretty good!

Absolutely disgusting
I'm not one to complain about food but when you spend $90 on food - you expect it to be of someone quality or standard
We purchased beef curry, chicken curry, panang curry, pad thai, fried rice and a bunch of entrees - four people but we were starving after work
The food arrived surprisingly quick after ordering but we weren't complaining - then it made sense. The food was microwaved and they obviously forgot to microwave the chicken curry because the oil was literally floating at the top from how cold it was
The beef was chewy and dry with absolute no flavour except chillli - bits of beef were cold bits were warm
Microwaved

Mediocre Thai food. We ordered tom yum fried rice and chilly basil fried rice. The flavour was not as strong as I expected. A bit overpriced as well.

If your expecting fancy authentic Thai fare, this is probably not the place. But if you are looking for a quick lunch fry-up with value for money around the 2nd CBD- look no further.

Had the chilli basil fried rice & Tom Yam noodle. Both are decent enough but I won’t rate too highly in terms of authentic Thai food. Not sure what the other reviewers are unable about but service was decent & attentive enough.

Delicious food and very friendly staff. Me and my partner ordered the Marinaded lamb in the peppercorn sauce and beef Pad see ew. Flavours were there and I will be back 😀

Sauté mean “ jump” in French, and can be translated as fried quickly in a little hot fat.

Place:
Small place just off Church street..

Service:
It was ok, nothing special to rave about.

Food & Drink:
Very hot day, I ordered lychee delight to quench my thirst, unfortunately taste just like lychee straight
from the tin, pour over ice and nothing else...

Deep fried barramundi with tamarind sauce is the highlight, crispy skin, moist flesh and complex flavour from the sauce makes you want to eat more.

Cashed and chilli Jam was too sweet to my liking, when you read the menu of chilli jam, kinda imagined on my mind that will be balance flavour of sweet, hot and spicy tingling in your taste but.
Pretty disappointed to be honest.
The pad see ew was average dish to me.

Ordered the Padthai since its also a recommended item here... Two words.. Never Again..
The noodle seemed so hard and dry. No flavour. Peanuts were missing!?! What a waste!
The prawn dumpling weren't great either...

Stopped by for an early dinner when passing through Parramatta. The food was very tasty and good service. Only reason I give 4 stars is because I ordered noodles with vegetable however it had hardly any vegetables.

Food and ambience were great. Can focus on customer service. Not too expensive. Best place for a hangout meal. BTW, their home delivery service is pretty quick

This place has just confirmed my new found love for Thai food. All of the 6 dishes we tried here had such an intense and unique flavours. So satisfying, so tasty and so damn good. Highly highly recommend.

Food was bland and not flavour. Service was ordinary. Maybe the worst Thai food I’ve ever had and I’ve had some ordinary one before. Would not recommend this to anyone.

Have been here couple of times in last year. Service is excellent likewise food quality. Parking is the issue since it's in the heart of Parramatta CBD though very close to public transport.

Lovely ambience, fast service and delicious, affordable food! It’s very easy to customise your dishes based on your taste and preference. Newtown is no longer my first stop for a good Thai food fix.

Got takeaway.. whilst the phone order took some time and was realatively frustrating (the person on the phone passed the phone to someone else who kept having to translate to the first person who picked up the phone, but the 2nd person didn't know the prices or the dishes.. and kept saying beef when I said fish..).. we got there in the end and the food was even better than expected! Generous serves and very flavoursome. Will definitely, definitely be back ... but perhaps will just walk up and wait rather than try to do a phone order again.

Sauté Thai is a family favourite. We always go there to satisfy our thai cravings. Our go to dish is the duck with pineapple and lychees. This time, we also got the deep fried barramundi which was delicious.

Came here for a weekday dinner, and we walked in to a wonderfully decorated restaurant which doesn't seem like much from the outside. We decided to go straight to our mains, and ordered a satay rice noodles and a tom yum noodle soup. The staff didn't smile, though weren't exactly un-friendly - it was honestly hard to read them. Ordering was a bit tricky since our waiter struggled to understand what we were ordering, though to be fair he did appear to be new. The soup was okay, nothing exciting, but in my opinion lacked sourness and spice. I ended up asking for chilli to heat it all up for me. The vegetables with the soup were standard, again nothing really stood out for me. The noodles seemed a bit overcooked and mushy (for lack of better word) though were tasty. The sauce was a tiny bit sweet for my personal liking, but that is okay. The vegetables were nicely stir fried, crunchy with wonderful smokey flavour too. In my opinion the place is over priced for what you are actually offered, and unfortunately the service doesn't justify the charges either.

Amazing Thai experience with a great variety and tastes like it was very well made. A bit of a small place, but would definitely come back again.

In my opinion, the best Thai food in Sydney. Their curries are amazing. Everything on the menu is delicious and served to order. Highly recommended
This would be one of my top 5 Thai restaurants so far. We ordered the Tom Kha soup with vegetable which was perfectly flavoured and great way to start the meal. The sauce in the green curry with fish was beautiful but fish a little over cooked. The Garlic and pepper lamb cutlet was quite juicy and crispy outside. Overall the service was also very good and the food arrived really quick.

Great good and decent prices, but let down by slow service.

The menu features all of the usual suspects on a Thai restaurant's lineup. The prices are fair and the portions decent.

The staff were something of a let down here though. Took a long time to notice we'd been waiting to order. The restaurant wasn't that busy either. We had to ask for water after noticing other tables with a bottle, and waited a long time for some very simple drink orders (like water and soft drink). Had to yell out to be noticed at the counter after waiting for minutes to pay.

After waiting 1.5 hours for the food tonight, i got crap for $40. If i sound mad, then i am extremely angry. We ordered the crab fried rice and seafood pad thai. There were no crabs in the rice as it was just flavoured rice and eggs. And for $6 extra on the pad thai there were 3 pieces of fish and calamari each and 1 mussel and 1 scallop. How does that work for a whole plate of noodles? On top of that i requested to make my food spicy and i dont think they even noticed the comments. It is understood that long weekends mean hectic work but ripping off customers in this way is unacceptable. I ordered previously from them before but it was never this horrible.

Came here for dinner with friends where we ordered massaman beef, pad see ew with tofu, gang gari and panang curry. Unfortunately the pad see ew was a bit salty and the tofu chunks were far too big. They were like big bread pieces. However the rest of the dishes were amazing and very generous in size. The yellow curry was extremely flavoursome and came with a great selection of vegetables. The massaman beef was soft and tender and the massaman flavour was amazing. Panang curry was also good. This place is also fairly priced and service is prompt.

My colleagues and i ordered takeaway from here and were all impressed with what was on offer. Others had the pad thai and found that enjoyable, whilst I shared a "set a meal deal" which was good value for money. The massaman curry had large chunks of soft beef which was easily pulled apart and the sweet, creamy stir fry had plenty of vegetables and a good flavour balance - plus we got the 2 serves of rice, 2 small satay skewers and 2 spring rolls so definitely a good feed.

Excellent food. The sate sauce that comes with the curry puffs was cold-should have been hot.The sole waitress was not friendly-never smiled at all. Most unusual for a Thai outlet.
Sam
Disgusted.... Entered place and all staff on break..... Eventually got our order taken.. Vegetable dumplings dry and gritty.
curry puffs and massaman curry lacking flavour... The hokkien noodles were overcooked and soggy, yet the vegatables are undercooked almost raw AND THERE WAS HAIR IN IT..... At no extra charge !!!!!.... NEVER AGAIN

Had a dinner catch up with friends here. We got there around 6.30pm and place had a lot of seats still available. Opted to sit outside under the heaters.

For starters we got the Satay chicken and money bags. The money bags had a lot of coconut in it but still tasty.

For mains we got the Chicken pad se ew, Beef masaman curry, Beef oyster sauce and the Chicken satay stir fry all to share among 4 people.

Overall, all dishes were quite tasty. Especially the Masaman beef so tender!

Service was good and i had the ping pong cocktail with lychees and that was sweet and not too strong alcohol wise and so it complemented the meals.

Pretty good thai food. Nice ambience. Decent price. Service was ok. The waitress would be a bit rude at times then happy the next. It was weird.

We ordered a seafood pad see ew and they were pretty generous with the amount of seafood in it so im happy about that.

Nice atmosphere. Quick service and pleasant wait staff. Good food though more oily then I've come to expect from Thai. Prices match quantity / quality.

After exploring a few places on Eat Street, a row of restaurants and dessert bars on Church St, we stumbled upon Saute Thai!. For dinner, we ordered two meals to share – the Green Curry with Fish Fillet and Sticky Rice, and the Chicken Pad Thai. We found the pad thai to be quite ordinary, with quite a lot of sauce and a good amount of chicken and fresh bean sprouts, but not particularly spectacular. We also would’ve liked more peanuts in the dish.
Beef Ball
The food is quite good, although not as much meat in my stir fry dish as I would have liked. Portion sizes were ok, but I would have liked a little more. Ambience is good. Prices ok. Overall, a good thai restaurant, I can't really fault them, but just wished it could have been slightly better value for money.

Had dinner with the family and found it to be very enjoyable. The atmosphere was good as to was the food. We had the banquet A and couldn't believe how well the food was cooked. Every thing was really nice and thoroughly enjoyed the meal and service we received. Definitely will be back.

Over priced, rude staff and management. I ordered a vegetarian Penang which had 2 beans, one baby corn and 2 small mushy bits of broccoli and filled in with watery Penang sauce for 20 dollars, when I complained I was hung up on. Worst experience ever and totally tasteless food. I would say try it once, the location is great close to the theatre but compared to all the other thai restaurants I've eaten at this is by far the worst.
Snapshots Of Food
Not just another Thai place in Parramatta. It's one of the tastiest thai place ever!

Vegetable Pad See-Ew, $15.90 Flat rice noodles were so soft and delicate, cooked in a sweet soy sauce that wasn’t too overpowering. Both savory and sweet, they complemented each other without over dominating one another. Vegetables were cooked spot on, just enough to make it crisp without being crunchy raw or soft and overcooked. This left me slightly bloated as they used a lot of oil to cook this, but then again, what stir-fried dish uses minimal oil.. We didn’t have a booking and apparently the entire place was fully booked, so they gave us a time limit on how long our stay would be. Luckily the kitchen wasn’t too slow so we got our food fairly quickly.

Took a turn off Church St when we saw Messina and we were at Sauté. I would disgracefully like to mention that we were a party of 6, and our social etiquette was to wait for the entire party to arrive before ordering. This felt like a huge nono from the staff members, who were looking in our direction while we spent our time looking at the menu. Yes, we were in the wrong, but I guess from that point we were not well liked by the staff. However we very much enjoyed the interiors within. It was warm, cosy and like every other Thai restaurant, dark. After our long wait, with 2 members still running late, we ordered our drinks. I decided to grab a pink lemonade. I wanted something "different", because usually when I go to Thai restaurants, it'd be the fruit shakes or a lemon lime bitter. But sadly some of the fruit shakes were sharpied off the menu. Drinks came out swiftly late and we continued to wait for the rest of the party. However, those who were already at the table were able to pick out exactly what we wanted. I got a beautifully tangy Tom Yum soup with prawns and a bowl of sticky rice. I really loved it, there was the perfect amount of mushroom and they were amazingly generous with the prawns. It was at a nice level of spicy as well, the type that builds up in your mouth to really make you feel the burn. As a collective, we quite enjoyed our food. The service was a little iffy here as it can be a little difficult to grab their attention. We had asked for our table water on multiple occasions before we actually had a bottle set u

The star of the mains was the volcano from the sea. This was a mound of seafood in a rich thick curry sauce with a ring of fire surrounding it when served. It looked great and tasted even better.

Great food. The food here is really good. Really, really good. I long for it for a few days after every. single. time. This makes the trip to Saute worth it despite the restaurants drawbacks.

The price for the mains is decent and they are a good size, but the drinks are pretty high in price and the excess they charges for their not so large portions of rice easily evens it out for this to be a pretty average value.

The service is pretty average too, there are a lot of waitstaff and they seem to be really attentive but there is little order in how they work and it makes everything they do really rushed.

The atmosphere is decent enough but nothing special, if anything it's just a little cramped in there.

But again, these drawbacks are made up easily by the great food.

Use to be great....got too popular, portions got smaller, staff got less attentive, food got worse...very disappointed with last order

Very tasty food. My partner and I had Set Menu A, which catered for 2 people. The entree was nice and simple, not too big that it would have ruined our mains, but also not too small, that we would still be hungry by the time we received our mains. The entree was very tasty, with 2 chicken satay skewers and two vegetable spring rolls. Also, the masaman beef curry was so tender and our stir fry cashew nut and chicken was amazing! Hope to visit again real soon as it is local to us, and hoping for continual great customer service.

Haven't been back here for about a year. Food and service is still great. I won't wait so long again. I have been missing out on the best Thai food in the area

THE most OILY food i have ever put in my mouth!. I read all these comments om this website about how good Saute.in parramatta is! i jadnt had my favourite cashew nut chicken in about a year since the last place i went to gave me food poisining. so i thought id give thai another chance and tried this place. I feel like i have just drank a cup full of oil!!! literally all of.my food was having a bath in oil, they even put it in a plastic bag on top of the paper bag so that the oil wouldnt run through!!! BIGGEST waste of money. i feel so sick from all that oil. that has put me off thai forever

Awesome Food and Service. We organised for a birthday dinner for a group of 15 people along with three young kids. The manager was very friendly during the enquiry phase and accommodated most of our request. We ended up having banquet for the group. We had an almost private sitting outside with gas heaters and although a little cramped, was very comfortable.

The staff looked after us and service was reasonably quick (considering how busy the place was). Food is the highlight of the place. Very fresh, very tasty and large serves. www.kedr.com.au
-kedR.

Really really good!!. Me and my partner came across this by chance because we had to eat so late and everywhere else was closing. Thank god we did. We have come back at least a dozen times now with family and friends. The food is always a high standard and very fast! And you don't hear as much of the cars along church st.
Nicholas C
Yum. Everything we had was good, but the duck in plum sauce was my standout dish.

The food is flavoursome and the atmosphere great! I have only eaten here once but I am waiting for a reason to go back. For the quality of the food, the price is reasonable definitely not your average food court kind of Thai

Love it! Love it! LOVE it!. Eat in, take away or delivery - this place is amazing.

Food is always fresh, reasonably priced (on the higher side, but well worth it!) and hot to your door.

This is one of my favourite places to eat in Parramatta and I always find them to the friendly and professional... ok, on busy nights the standard falls a little, but whose doesn't, under pressure?

There is nothing on their menu that I haven't tried, loved, and will go back to again and again...

Favourites:
- Mixed entree
- Tod Mon Goong
- Duck Pad Thai
- Massaman Curry (chicken and beef)
- Roti!!

Enjoy!

Peanut satay. FANTASTIC. I don't know how this place has gotten below a 90% on this site! The food here is FANTASTIC. I order something different every time I go here and I am surprised by how tasty it is. Even though I live in Newtown, if I am ever in Parramatta for work or to meet with friends, I will go here - FANTASTIC. The girls that work there are lovely too and the owner is personable and greets you with a smile.

Expectations were more than satisfied when I decided to brig good friends here for dinner. One friend was a chef and he was extremely impressed by all meals ordered, as were we all. Service was great, and the duck in plum sauce was amazing! All food was better than good and we left very satisfied and impressed. Definitely recommend this place.
A Tasty Affair
Tasty Western Thai. Went on a busy night and sat right up the back. Service was ordinary but not overly concerned as this was a reunion dinner with plenty of catch up conversation to be had.

The tables and chairs are not built for tall people with long legs. Both my dining partner and I were uncomfortable.

That said, the food was delicious although some dishes don't seem terribly authentic, more westernised (lamb cutlets?) but still tasty.

Would dine there again.
Bruce Hendry
Great service and excellent food, huge king prawns what more do you need?

Best Thai in parramatta and great service , been there many with wife and daughter Cheers Tony & Vicky

Service poor. One of my friends favorite places but when I got there for lunch, I was left standing while the lady at the counter just chatted away on the phone like I was invisible. I did not know I had such abilities! I must of stood there for at least 30 seconds before a lady popped up from behind the counter.

The food is good but for me, not as highly rated as the other reviewers. The mixed entree was average and I did like the pad thai. What I did notice is that there is no pork dishes at all. The ambience is nice, with the cushions inside and an option to sit outside.

Value: its a little more expensive than other thai places. Overall, there is nothing that makes this better than the average thai place apart from the ambience and if they want people to just stand waiting at the counter, they are not going to have my business again
Ian Kesby
Excellent Casual Dining. Have been here several times and intend to go again tonight. Firstly decor sets a calming mood, great for dinners for two or small groups. Food is always high quality and fresh ingredients are always used. Prices are average and justifiable for the quality of food. Service is prompt and professional.
Highly recommended

This was the best Thai food I have ever had! Compliments to the chef. The service was also excellent. Can't wait to go again.
