Review Barbeque Sun Ming Restaurant - Parramatta

I didn't have too much expectations but omg the food was delicious... everything we ordered was like.. perfect you know? And the fish my goodness so soft and juicy and how it just melts in my mouth. Like the presentation of food and the atmosphere of the restaurant was why my expectations were low but that was low of ME. 100% recommend šŸ‘Œ šŸ‘

The best Cantonese food in Parramatta! This is a classic Hong Kong style BBQ restaurant with BBQ Pork and Roast Duck hanging in the window out the front. I been here a few times for their awesome roast duck with rice. This time I had their delicious Soya Chicken Noodle Soup. A plate of their slow cooked soya chicken and a bowl of Noodle Soup with a choice of egg Noodle or rice noodles. I had the lovely slippery rice Noodle. $16 for this delicious meal. 2nd update - been back 2 times and tried their Pork Ribs with sweet and sour sauce $20 and their Won Ton Noodle Soup $15. Both delicious šŸ˜‹ Awesome food

Delicious and very affordable food. We made a huge takeaway order to feed 9 people. I don't expect good service at places like this but the ladies were so nice and helpful. They double checked everything and had smiles when serving us. Made sure we were getting taken care of. Best service from a Chinese take out restaurant I've had.

Me & my partner always order through ubereats and never disappointed with the food. Always come in hot with good portions. Their roast pork is amazing, duck highly recommend and their peanut pork ribs is to die for.

Classic Cantonese BBQ style food. Be sure to get the rich Ceylon tea

I've been dining here for many years and the food is delicious!

Every time we visit Parramatta, we will have take away. They have the best roast duck in Sydney, the BBQ port quality varies, the cantonese style noodles and Yong chow friend rise is the best in town. Thanks for the good food.

Extremely disrespectful. When waiting for me to decide whether I wanted a medium or large sized takeaway box, the butcher rolled his eyes and threw the container on the table. Did not even bother explaining that different meats had different minimum takeaway amounts. Iā€™d recommend getting food from somewhere else.

The roasted duck was perfectly succulent n roasted. The BBQ pork well also very surprisingly well done. Not chewy or dry at all. Both meats were flavorful .. the rice on the other hand was very dry. It wasn't well balanced in flavour or mourners.

I ordered some congee, it was terrible. It was the worst bowl Iā€™ve ever been served. Maybe it was just a once off but Iā€™ll never go back.

Not sure why this place us rated high. Everytime I eat here, I get a bad tummy ache and diarrhea. Stopped coming here for a few years now. Too scared about the hygiene.

It a great place to eat but waiters and people there is like rushing you to go out. Very disappointed. The plates are old and yellow makes me feel that the food is unclean

Located just outside Westfields, near Aird Street, this is a traditional Chinese BBQ restaurant, complete with glistening whole roast ducks suspended in the front window. We took home a piece of BBQ pork, it was tender and nicely flavoured apart from being too salty for my taste.

Been here many times. Food is reasonably priced and tastes pretty good and authentic. Highly recommend BBQ pork and roast duck. If you are looking for a quick authentic Cantonese meal, you'd love this place. But if you have high expectation of services, probably should go elsewhere.
Quality! It Shouldnt Be That Hard! Love A Wonderful Mouth Full Of Wholesome FOOD!
I have been here a few times over the last couple of years. I though I wrote a review but it seems to now be on here any more.

This a great restaurant in parramatta right next to Westfield. The food is amazing if youā€™re wanting something cheap and tasty! However the service is not the best. It a little rushed and some of the waiters are rude! However I was there on the 16 September 2018 and the young lady waiter who was doing table service and packing the uber eats take away was so lovely and polite I will give her āļø stars

I asked about the fresh fish she said yes we have barramundi!!! I said yes please one of those! She brought it out in the net... she smiled I took my photo.

I also ordered some veggies with fermented bean curd with Chile was amazingā€™ itā€™s my favourite Highly recommend it!!!

My friend had Won ton noodle soup was nice also!

If you looking for somewhere romantic I wouldnā€™t recommend this restaurant :-(

Went a few times before but just this week me and my friend both got diarrhea the next day for the whole day after eating here. We will never go again and recommend people stay away.
Constant Cravings
Iā€™ve been seriously craving some Cantonese BBQ and itā€™s much more expensive here than in Vancouver. I used to eat roast pork at least once or twice a month! Lucky meā€¦ but itā€™s a different story now. I was really glad I discovered Sun Ming and itā€™s located right by Westfield mall in Parramatta and near the train station. It looks like your typical HK style cafe with BBQ meat that you can order at the front of the shop. No frills here.
Authenticity
As authentic as it could be. One of the last few remaining BBQ houses left in Sydney. I recommend to visit before the chef retired and the ā€˜fusionismā€™ comes. For the price, I was not expecting the plating and services, and the roasted duck tasted so delicious.

Came in from the freezing cold and they greeted us with hot tea straight away.
This place is definitely one to visit.
The food is so good and comes out so quickly.
Service was pretty good too.
You have to try the honey dew milkshake - best thing ever!
Located on the side of Westfield parramatta so is easy to get to.
You can't miss the place as the window is adorned with hanging ducks.
It might be a turn off for some, but the food really is delicious.
Would recommend it to family and friends.

Been here on many occasions, my family and I used to eat here nearly every fortnight! Everything of the menu is delicious! Best noodle wonton soup in town!

Terrible customer service.Ā Ladies shout at each other and bang the plates. I moved tables and the lady gave me the evil eye.

Plates are dirty.Ā

Free leftover soup (pretty disgusting).

The place smells.

Guy sneezed on the meat (must add to the flavour).

Good authentic asian street food. BBQ pork was good and so was the roasted pork. Duck was average. Noodle broth probably had a bit of msg but very reasonable pricing here. Good for a quick meal.

Horrible place. Would not recommend. Service is awful and slow.Ā I attempted to pick-up take away and was not entirely sure of what my friends had ordered however y the takeaway is usually listed under my name. The staff member was so rude that while I was still infront of her- she talked crap about me in Chinese to another customer.Safe to say- I walked out. This rat bag of a restaurant does not deserve my money.Ā This is not the first time I have experienced bad service here- previous take away orders have had containers that leaked, and when I dine in my order is usually incorrect

Felt like some Chinese BBQ meat and found this HK style BBQ restaurant just outside of the Parra Westfield. The place was not packed but there was a steady stream of people coming & going. The staff were quite friendly, but the kitchen was a bit backed up, so had to wait a bit for the vermicelli noodles. I got the BBQ roast pork & crispy roast duck. Both were quite good, the meat were not too fat but yet quite juicy. Overall a satisfying meal.

You know you are in the right place if the owner can't speak Mandarin let alone English. The younger staff came to rescue and made our day.

Ordered Peking Duck dishes and Pig Blood Jelly Congee. The later sounds a bit exotic but we are glad we tried it as the dish is great from culinary as well as nutrition point of view. The added shredded ginger and the crunchy crackers not only complement the well balanced dish they also make the dish excitingly delicious.

Food came out within the 15 minutes benchmark. And the warm tea was refilled timely.

Now analysis on Peking Duck dish. This is typical HongKong version which has thinner cut hence you can taste the crispness of the duck skin, the pancake is divine, thin and tasty. The cucumber and shallots are freshly cut making it a memorable dish to enjoy.
With price tag of just over 40 bucks we would definitely come back soon.

Was brought here by some guys from Hong Kong who eat here regularly.

Had the roast pork and roast duck with rice and enjoyed it. Roast pork had a crispy skin and was nice and juicy. The duck was also cooked very well.

A classic old school eatery, service isn't the best but the food makes up for it.

This is the long-standing Hong Kong style Chinese BBQ in Parramatta near Westfield. Don't order off-menu, ask for substitutions, or expect dietary needs to be met. I suggest not ordering random dishes from their enormous stir-fry menu. No, they don't do yum cha. Don't rate this place based on their service--it's not what they're about--they're about efficiency and productivity.Ā

My partner and I come here almost weekly (mostly for breakfast) for years because we love the place.Ā

Do order:
-Any of their congees (especially with fried dough)
-Pork chop in portuguese sauce (it's a baked dish with cheese on top yum)
-Chow mein with crispy noodles
-Any BBQ with rice or egg noodles on soup

If you go at dinner time, make sure they bring you the house soup. It's always a treat and it's complimentary.Ā

I strongly suggest trying the afternoon or breakfast specials. They're mostly around $10 and include a drink. Favs are hong kong style peanut butter french toast, or chicken or beef congee with fried noodles or fried dough. Hong kong style iced milk tea or lemon tea is always great (breakfast); or fried pork chop with egg noodles on soup (ask for curried sauce in the soup) and iced milk tea (afternoon).Ā

Now...if anyone has any favs please let us know in the comments below--always love to try something here!

Walked in and had a typical asian feel, very casual. Was quite efficient with getting the food out and food was mediocre. However the Char Siew with white rice was decent the meat was moist however rice was cold. The customer service here was atrocious.

I was next in line at the cash register and once the lady was finished serving the customer before me a man jumped the queue and was served first. The cash register disregarded me and totally did not acknowledge my existence. Never have I felt that disrespected in my life. She then proceeded to give me the wrong change. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND AND WOULD NOT GO BACK AGAIN.

We ordered the family set, which gives you 3 choices of different dishes, some slices of bbq, rice, and a soup. Quite average char siew (bbq pork) and roast duck. The 3 cup chicken was even more average. However the minced pork and eggplant was quite ok, and the salt and pepper pork ribs quite nice. Still, it's quite reasonable value for money for what you get.
The Happy Tummy
Sun Ming took me back to Hong Kong. They have baked pork chop! Although not as good as the one I had in Hong Kong, I will have to settle with this one for now.

The star of Sun Ming is their roast pork, pork barbecue and roast duck. We tried roast pork and it is just divine. Lovely cracklings!...

Good for a quick bite to eat, the portion sizes are bigger than average and the prices are better than you would get at most places. It's definitely not as cheap as it use to be but then again, no where is. The food comes out very quickly and the service is about what you expect at a casual Asian dining restaurant. It's very casual and they won't come to you unless you ask or you need to order.

I'll be frank, this was one of my favourite Chinese restaurants in Parramatta, I have introduced many people to this restaurant and have been coming here for years and recently I returned, the service we received when we arrived was atrocious, the staff didn't take notice of us (4 people and 3 children) for maybe 2 minutes. My sister doesn't eat rice and asked to have vegetables instead and they said no, and that she would have to order a side of vegetables for 8 dollars ! Eventually the staff considered her request and made it happen but with great difficulty, the food is nice but it always tastes different even when you order the same thing. It's a shame because I really liked this place.

WORST SERVICE EVER, WAS WITH PREGNANT WIFE, ALMOST ENDED IN TEARS. Thursday 28/5/15 - I ordered roast pork one serving. Chinese lady brings out roast duck and I politely said I ordered pork. The original lady who took my order came over, yelled out that it was roast duck in front of 2 dozen customers. I was with my pregnant wife, humiliated, made us feel like we were idiots. 5 minutes later she realises she made a mistake with the order and said "I make you roast pork with rice" I said don't bother please. Never ever coming back again!!! I waited for my wife to finish her meal and that is the last time. Never been so threatened in a restaurant ever. HIGHLY NOT RECOMMENDED UNLESS YOU LIKE COPING ABUSE FROM RUDE STAFF.

The food is tasty, well priced and the service is fast. This a great place for a quick meal and I would love to go back and try more of the savoury dishes. And as for dessert, Iā€™m told the sweet toasts are amazing! Itā€™s one happy face for me!

...the Congee? I LOVED it. It's warming, comforting, and perfect for the cold weather. It's simple, unassuming but so packed with flavour. There are slivers of ginger floating around in the bowl giving the Congee an unexpected "zing". I loved the plump king prawns and the crumbled wontons dusted across the top of the bowl. The dish is HUGE though - I would struggle to eat a bowl on my own...it is a dish best shared, which is comforting in itself.
Extremely bad service. Ordered a standard toast and hot milk tea. Tea came in 5 minutes. Waited for more than 30minutes for the toast. Required to ask the rude waiters twice to chase on the order. I requested exchanging my tea when the toast came which I have not drank, the waitress was so rude about it. The best she can do was putting it in the microwave. Never coming back

Very bad service. Went for breakfast early Sunday morning with a group of friends. The waitress who took our order was very rude.

As we were ordering our individual dishes, one of our friends decided she wanted to order the same dish (one extra quantity of the same dish). The waitress rolled her eyes, gave a big sigh, and slammed her pad on our table to cross out the quantity 3 and made it 4, as if it takes her a massive effort to make the change.

It was not because we were indecisive of our orders, we were still going down the table for our orders, and it was the only time we made a "change" to our orders (technically not making a change as we were ordering).

Overall, not happy with the experience, we knew the service was not that great already (typical HK BBQ restaurant style), but this was unacceptable attitude to me, bad start to our Sunday.

Food - average standard, not worth being ill-treated.

It's nothing fancy but the food comes out quick, portion sizes are bigger than average and cost is no longer as cheap as it was since I last came years ago.
My dim sims though I'm sure was something bought at the supermarket and steamed!

Best Chinese roasts in sydney ...I even prefer sun Ming BBQ to Macau BBQ when I went overseas! So so good. Love the seafood laksa too! Double roast BBQ with rice or noodles for $12.80 :) have been coming here since 2006 and still a regular customer!

This place used to be good but my last experience dining there was bad. my favorite fried rice was terrible and service was lousy too. i won't go back again!

Only visit here if you would like a quick chinese meal. Service and environment are horrible.
