Review Charlotte's Little Sister - Pennant Hills

My friends and I like the coffee here, and that has never disappointed. It's our go-to coffee in that block in Pennant Hills. However, the other day was my first time getting a sandwich, which was nice until halfway through when I found a dead moth in it. Thankfully the sandwich was pressed. The lady apologised and was reasonable with the compensation, but from the way she handled the food and money, I was concerned with the hygiene and food safety of the store.

There must have been a change of ownership. The barista was terribly unfriendly and grumpy. They’ve also added $0.50 per cup if you order from Hey You app. That’s a 12% surcharge so a $4.20 (already expensive) coffee is now $4.70 if you dare order using the app they voluntarily joined themselves. Used to be great. Not any more. Would’ve left a rating if I could.

Love the coffee, food and the friendly service. Can be busy / noisy at times, but I'll stop here whenever I can find a free seat! Even the hot chocolate gets special presentation!

Getting snarky with a customer because you're not listening to what they're ordering is a great way to lose business. My staff and I will not be coming back.

I’ve been going to Charlottes for years however clearly there’s been a change of ownership and the new owner is so unfriendly and plain rude. I’ve stopped getting my coffee there now. Why run a cafe if you hate serving customers!

Went two days ago to get a coffee and I was surprised that it was for $5.40 for a small one ! Over priced not a good customer service I wouldn’t bother to again tbh .

We come here almost daily - always great service and a very busy place - always popular - I see service with a smile - great quality cakes and pastries - fresh juices, ice blends, Campos coffee - enough brekkie options- I get bacon and eggs - it’s outside a busy shopping area - so glad it’s here in Pennant Hills

I have been going there for the past 1 year and half with my little girl. She is always fascinated by the pretty displays (with flowers) and marshmallows at the counter. We usually get a soy cap for me and a green cupcakes which is my daughter's favourite. She sometimes stares at the marshmallows and often one of the staff notices and offers her one which is very nice of them. I always have positive experiences - wonderful service from both staff working in the kitchen and barista ladies. Thank you.

Becca Bites Today I visited an old fav cafe at Birchgrove. Charlotte Cafe. Cello and I loved this local cafe when we lived in Birchgrove and its still there with Campos coffee and some good food choices. I got my almond milk mocha and it came out with a teddy bear in the froth, such a cute touch:) We ordered the Charlottes Big Sister breakfast as it's great value for money and was huge when it came out. Everything was tasty, the eggs a touch over but still good and the hash browns were a little crunchy and not as fluffy on the inside like I'm used to but I liked them being a little different from the norm. The chorizo was good, bacon and mushrooms and avocado also nice, It's easy to forget about this place tucked away down at Birchgrove but I liked the menu and even the specials menu was inviting so I will be back to make this once again a regular eatery. Great lay out and good service. Weekends the place was also packed out so always a good sign it's popular for all the right reasons. Becca Bites

Our favorite. We are so lucky this is our local cafe. The food, coffee and fresh juices are amazing and such great value. It’s also very child friendly which is important for us parents. I recommend their delicious salads and Lentil soup as a special. I would give 10 stars if I could :)

Use to be the best cafe in the area. Now it's disgusting under cooked food with a grubby taste, pancakes like sponges, coffee has poor flavour. Disappointed and won't be back.

Great breakfast, great coffee! Highly recommend the French Toast - super yum!

In the past the coffee and food has been OK. However I was disappointed to find black hair in my takeaway food today. Whilst the hair won't hurt me and these things happen, it's very off-putting and I couldn't eat the eggs after I found it. I don't think I'll be back for a while.

Best coffee hands down .... friendly staff and awesome atmosphere. Owner obviously doesn't go for the quick buck but insures what is served to the customers is of highest quality and freshness . Very impressive 😊

Excellent coffee and breakfast. Cool vibe and fast service.

Just love this place...delicious fried oyster dinner like no where else. Sad to hear about the cure this morning. We were planning on dining there 12/20 with family but it probably won't be opened. If this place is ready in time we will be there.

Visited your cafe at boronia park today. Purchased a muffin and it was very disappointing. Very stale and tasted like it was 4-5 days old. Terrible!

Great coffee, yummy food and awesome service

Food average, bacon rubbery, coffee average and took a long time to arrive.

French toast was exceptional, coffee was strong and service comes with a smile

Redfern soft opening today. Offering free coffee and pork rolls. Had a coffee earlier and another after lunch. Both awful. 4 cafes on site now and none make a good coffee. no prices up yet so will be interesting to see how much poor coffee costs

I am a complete coffee snob, so when I say some of the best coffee in Sydney, I am not faking it.
Jessica Bragg
This is by far the most child friendly cafe in Sydney! Love love love it.

Amazing food great coffee

We ordered a mocha and a chai latte each for our usually afternoon drinks. Both of us found our drinks to be rather on the sweet side. Maybe we should have mentioned to tone down. Other that no complaints for us.

This is now my go-to coffee spot in the area. Good customer service (it has definitely improved) and fantastic coffee with a good little food menu to accompany. Also one of the best long blacks around.

It is also conveniently located just outside the shipping centre.

Only downside is that it's right on the carpark and there's not many seating options. But it's worth the wait for a table. They also provide blankets for you in winter!

They are located at the front of the shopping center where I visit every week. Purchased a few coffees here but unfortunately I have not had a good one further as yet. Batista obviously not very knowledgeable or experienced. I normally have my coffee black, either long or short. Tried both different times and they all have bad faults. From dirty group heads to under extractions. The third time I went I asked specifically to have my double expresso slightly over extracted and I got a puzzled look from the Batrista who obviously has no idea what I was asking for. Needless to say I won't be going back.

Delicious food, great coffee and friendly service. Food was delivered quickly and just as requested. Plenty of parking and easy access. Will happily go back again.

Charlotte continues to spread her wings and expand, and has now added a cosy corner in suburban Pennant Hills to their expanding brand. Their growth is based on having a great suite of products and matching service that clearly gives customers what they want or are looking for. This place is small. They do have a few tables and chairs so there is space to sit, soak up the sun and enjoy what's there.

I wanted to give it a 4 because in many ways since moving to The Hills this is the first cafe in the area that I thought was up to the standard I was used to in Newtown, Glebe, Erskenville & Alexandria (as I previously lived in Newtown).

From a coffee, drinks and food this place is excellent. Really up to the standard I was used to in my old barrio. Music as well is dope - they tend to play R&B and Hip-Hop (incl old school stuff) which I love. Again, felt like being in Newtown and the surrounding suburbs.

Even the staff are cool, yes they come off rude but they loosen up once you get to know them and engage a little. But, I can understand why people are put off by them so they lose some marks on this.

The biggest problem and why I marked it down the most was the location (as per another reviewer). They need a bigger space which they could make more it's own world. Currently, it's a hole in the wall joint next to a car park and rubbish bins and Harris Farm Markets with little space for seating.

Either way have been 3 times with the wifey and will be there again considering the alternatives in the area.

Dan

The service isn't the best, the staff can be a little cold and snobby like as though you asked them for a favour when you are the one giving them business.
Ayla Yuile
Service is average and the food/drinks are up to standard but the pricing is asking for a bit more than it's worth.
They can be really inconsistent in how they make their drinks, it can be a hit and miss.
Jess
It was a nice, small, local cafe with decent drinks! We got an iced mocha and matcha green tea frappe, along with a donut ball. Green tea frappe was good, iced mocha average but the donut ball was delicious! Rating a bit lower because it was a bit on the expensive side, especially for the donut. Not bad though!
Bernie
It's a funky little shop and has a good vibe. However, you're sitting right on the car park, next to the bins and loading dock of Harris Farm. They serve Campos coffee, which seems to be a draw card for many people, but each time I've ordered the coffee has been terrible I've now been there three times to make sure it wasn't a bad day, but have been disappointed each time.
