Review Percy Plunkett - Penrith

Siena Crisafi
Really enjoyed our time here on Sunday Brunch! It was a cute cottage house with a great atmosphere. All the staff that helped us were great too and all had a smile on their face. I ordered the banana smoothie, tasted a little more artificial than real banana… probably a little less syrup and more fresh banana is needed. Consistency was more thin too like a milkshake. Our meals were pretty good, happy to pay the price. I ordered the fritters, personally they were too fried so you get heaps of crunch and not much of the actual filling. Would have liked more filling to taste the flavours.

Went for a small road trip to Penrith for some brunch & aqua golf on Saturday. Came across Percy Plunkett on Google with really good reviews so decided to try it. Lovely building with buzzing environment and nice courtyard with small enclosed kids playground. We ordered brisket Reuben which was very tasty & big portioned. Brisket Benny which was a popular dish ordered by most tables. Kids had their meals of nuggets/chips & eggs/toast which they liked but not as much as their kids bubblegum milkshake with fairy floss! Worth a try if in the area.

Nice food, nice coffee & nice decor but you need more than that for a nice/good experience. I waited at the “please wait to be seated” sign only to be shouted questions at by the waiter across the room then told to sit wherever I wanted. I sat inside but the loud dance/hip hop music drove me outside to the verandah to eat my lunch in peace & quiet. Next was a tiny size “regular” latte that was finished in 3 mouthfuls. Perhaps they should budget for less expensive butter so they can afford to serve a proper sized “regular” coffee.

Quite vibes near the shopping centre. Reasonably priced. Food was tasty and their coffees are really good. We sat in the sun outside which was beautiful. The service is prompt and friendly.

We had the Lamb Eggs Benedict and the deep pan pancake. Absolutely delicious and fresh. The pancake defeated us, but we had a good go. 🤣 Finished with a fresh juice and house soda. Can't wait to come back. Thanks guys. 💚🕊

Good sized portions and alright prices bit high but for the size of the food it’s pretty ok. The avocado toast was really good (minus the avocado skin I found in there). I think it was called the bacon and egg roll it was quite small and the chips with Aioli was really good!

Absolutely love this place. The service is always friendly, the decor and lush plantings outside and the food, of course. Coffee is great, too.

I looked up on Google for a nice place to take my wife for a brunch today, and found Percy Plunkett. When we got there, the place was really busy which was a good sign. Then we got an inside table, they have really nice service, we ordered two coffees and food. Coffees were really good, but the food took forever to get to the table and once I got my eggs benne, both eggs were overcooked. I mentioned this to the waiter and my plate was taken back for replacement, took another 5 to 8min to get my food back, and when I got it, eggs were right but the bread and mushrooms over heated and dry. My wife had already finished her food by then and I just gave up trying to have a good experience. Bill came over $74 for two coffees and two meals, they also don’t accept the NSW dining voucher. Just a bad expensive experience, we probably are not going back there.

My partner and I visited on Sunday 20th May for a late breakie. It was crazy busy inside, but the staff handled all the chaos in a professional and friendly manner. We put our names and numbers on the wait list and headed to the front door. The wait was short, less than 15mins - we were impressed already! The wait staff were friendly, approachable and made us feel very comfortable. We ordered x2 Percy Plates, with a couple of extras on the side. The meals were delicious, very filling. My only comment would be a larger plate for this meal as there was so much food, it was falling of the plate - not a big fuss in the scheme of things. We will be 100% returning

If you haven’t had lunch or breakfast here yet, do yourself a favor! Beautiful grounds and atmosphere and the food is top notch! The attention to detail is what makes it special.. I can’t wait to try everything on the menu

Was really looking forward to coming and seeing PP. But was really disappointed. They made out they were child friendly but only had 3 options for children’s breakfast, then I told the waitress I wanted kids pancakes but would still be charged for an adults one. No communication from waitress how thick they were so ordered 2. Was charged for 2 adult sized pancakes plus all the fruit and sides that we didn’t want. $38 - wow! Philip was good and gave us one off. Some pancakes need to be added for children’s menu and some flexibility needs to be made with charging for a children’s size of something without all the bells and whistles. Communication needs to be made between wait staff and customers and who are looking for children’s size of something not coming out with enough for 2 adults! Ruined our first experience of PP. We won’t be back.

My partner and I came here for Breakfast today, our meals (especially the coffee) were delicious and the staff were amazing and very genuine. Thank you for letting us come behind the counter and learn some coffee art tricks from the very talented Barista. We had such a great experience and definitely will be back : ) thank you again!

My partner and I tried Percy Plunkett out for the first time today and absolutely loved it, when we first arrived there was no tables and having a 2 week old baby wanted to sit inside and within 5 mins Phil and his team had a table ready for us with enough room for our pram too. The food was fantastic, the staff were really friendly and even though they were super busy our coffees and food came out in no time! Will definitely be back!!

Had breakfast there on Saturday , staff and service were terrific , Percys Plate was fairly average , will probably try it again just to see how it shapes up ..One meal is not enough to form a conclusive conclussion , but wont be rushing back .!

I took my husband and daughter here today for breakfast and I was impressed from start to finish. We had the Percy’s plate & pancakes. Both meals were amazing. The staff are efficient and the restaurant is super clean. We will back for sure. Thanks Phillip for opening an amazing place we can sit and relax in.

Omg the scones. Incredible. My husband and I have never had a bad experience (and we visit a lot). The staff are welcoming and will always go out of their way to help. The food is wonderful and the coffee is sooo good. It’s our new go-to!

Had lunch here to celebrate my birthday with family. Very busy when we arrived and glad we made a booking (recommended). Great atmosphere and staff were friendly and helpful. Food was enjoyable and no complaints from the table. Coffee is excellent and is what you would expect. Pricing was on the higher side for some items, however it was quality. Good to have a great cafe in Penrith.

BY FAR THE BEST FOOD & COFFEE IN THE AREA. However, it is the outstanding customer service that truly sets them apart from any other local café. They are focused on building community and leaving a lasting impression- by my second visit they remembered me by name. They were able to fulfill takeaway orders for 15 people or more in a timely manner and the quality of the food was never compromised. I was only able to get takeaway but every time I was more impressed than before. I can't wait to return to dine in, the café's aesthetic is absolutely adorable!

Thank you so much for the wonderful experience!

Lovely quaint cafe in penrith with warm staff. The outdoor seating is fantastic but so is the decor inside. I loved how the coffee came quick on ordering and the food too didn't take too long. Will be my go to place before my opds in penrith for the next year. Good job guys, see you every week.
Does My Bomb Look Big In This
(3.5 stars)
Housed in an 1866 cottage, from the street, Percy Plunkett looks quaint and historical behind its white picket fence. It’s named for one of the cottage’s former occupants, who resided on the site for more than twenty years from 1921. Mr. Plunkett’s 1946 obituary in the Wagga Wagga Daily Advertiser heralded him as “one of Penrith’s most popular citizens” celebrating his community-minded contributions from being part of the mounted Police to being a hotel licensee. Now in the hands of local foodie, Phillip Hallani, the café builds upon the idea of localism both in the Matt Woods (Killing Matt Woods) fit-out, the tradies who worked on it, the staff they employ and the products they use. I dined here this morning with a friend. I ordered the Percy's Plate breakfast of lamb sausages, poached eggs and toast. She ordered the mushrooms on toast.

Both of our food was borderline cold. Her toast was cold and her mushrooms were only just warm; my toast was cold and tasted old. The portions were also too small and lacked generosity (particularly for the inflated price of $23 for mine and close to $20 for hers). We both had a sense of disappointment after eating here, particularly considering we were looking forward to eating here.

Lastly, the noise level is insane! We couldn't have a conversation over the loud music. The one good point is that the decoration of the room is nicely done.

Great place for a good meal and buzzing atmosphere. Appears to be family and animal friendly and have always had very friendly service! Excellent coffee as well to top it off.

Love this place for the food, atmosphere and the service.
I always go for the Percy’s plate and when I feel like having vegetarian then I go with the green bowl.
The almond croissants are amazing if you have a sweet tooth.
Lovely venue, which is made even better by the fact that it's dog-friendly. That said, I unfortunately had a very poor breakfast here. My friend and I both got the pancake, which was undercooked to the point of it still being liquid in the middle. Moreover, the two coffees which came out were completely different. My friend's came out great, mine (which was a flat white as opposed to a cappuccino) came out ridiculously hot, which meant that the shot itself was burnt. I hope the place does well and the kitchen get into a rhythm, but I won't be going back for a while at least.

really nice decor, good service however the food was nothing special. I had the avocado on sourdough. I did not like the meal placement and would have much preferred the eggs to sit upon the avocado as opposed to on the side. My father had the deep dish pancake. It was nice although too thick, heavy and dense and therefore it was easy to become sick of it. The white chocolate mousse was nice though.

I am aware that the cafe is a rather new establishment and therefore perhaps may improve.
