Review Silver Spur Steak Ranch - Penrith

After a previously poor experience, we had low expectations going in, but they promised a table for 7 with a short wait on a Saturday night. Unfortunately after 20 minutes of waiting at the bar, they still hadn't let us know a table was available as they'd said they would. When we went to leave they immediately gave us a table that had been open the whole time (we'd assumed it was reserved). The service was slow, but friendly, food took about 40 minutes to arrive after ordering. The sizes were generous, but matched the inflated prices. The meals were mostly sufficient, nothing particularly horrible, but no stand out flavours either. The "onion rings" were limp, and the meat in the burgers was quite bland. It was quite busy, and the atmosphere wasn't appealing. The decor is quite outdated, and the seats were fairly cramped.

It's been years since I've been here and probably the reason why I haven't returned was the quality of food. This time around food quality has changed and is for the better. The meals are well portioned (you will need to be very hungry before coming) as it is large. It is also a great place to take the kids as this establishment has a kids play area where they can enjoy whilst the adults enjoy the meal. The only disappointment that I have with the meal here is the onion rings. They weren't tasty at all and is a little too greasy.

The customer food service was friendly and fun. The seating was comfortable and food was priced above average. Some of the dishes served were over sauced. Not a fan of their 'grated' fried onions, i would just keep them as rings and make it easier to eat

Overall fantastic, was told 20 mins for a table and we were seated in less than 10 mins. Customer services were great, only one downfall was the steak combo's. I'm not sure what cut was use but some part of the steaks, we had a hard time cutting with their steak knives as there were a tough bit of connecting tissue that just wouldn't cut. Don't get me wrong, was still tasty and worth the bite or two. This were the very first time we been here, I think definitely with the services and the choices of food it's a worthwhile revisit.

My fam and I came here at a friend's recommendation so I was a little bit disappointed because the food dod not live up to my expectations. The service is good though. I tried the Beef Ribs and in my opinion Outback is better but Silver Spur is way better than Hogs Breath. The Banana split is just a banana with vanilla ice cream and tons of whipped cream and nuts. I was looking for the chocolate and strawberry ice cream that usually goes with the vanilla in any banana split I tried before. Oh wells. I ordered fish and chips for my child and her fish tasted like one of those that came from Coles and it made me itch so bad too. The food does looks nice on photos. Also, there is no changing table for the kids and although it's nice that they have a gaming room and play area but it needs to be refurbished as it's old, dirty and worn out. That was a waste of $89 (food in photo plus coke?

I first went to silver spur just over a year ago. The food was SO good I was literally salivating for days after thinking about their patties. Went back recently and even though the quality had dropped slightly my friends and I still enjoyed our meals. Service was quick but did miss a few minor details which were rectified quickly when mentioned. Not as pricey as some other places. Good feed for the $$.

Came for a meal with my partner as we both were looking forward to a steak dinner, we were welcomed on arrvial by nice enough staff members but were rushed to order our drinks and starters, our starters were not up to any kind of standard, rubbery calamari and cheap quesadillas with very little chicken in. Although the staff were pleasant they weren’t overly helpful and felt very robotic in their approach. Our table was still wet from previous drinks and the paint is wearing on the window which makes the place seem dated. For our mains I received overcooked and dry ribs and my partners steak was ok but, had an undercooked potato with a rock hard packet of butter. All in all this meal cost over $140 and we were very disapponted for a meal that cost this much with so many issues. Wouldn’t reccomend.

Ok ... not as good as SA spurs . Disappointed as they can't even serve u the Spur sauce / salad dressing & the one on the table is nowhere close. The cheddamelt mushroom option lacking flavour & cheese dissapointing. Fresh cream on desserts tasted like UHT cans in supermarkets. Value poor ... I would rather go to outback steak or hogsbreath or Outback jacks... not worth quality & price at Oz spurs

Although it has a great section for entertaining the kids you kinda need it with the amount of time your waiting for food! Been here an hour and still waiting... and no one has come past to ask if we need anything of if we want drinks.. the place was empty besides two tables when we walked in.. the cook staff are in the cooking area fluffing around like there’s nothing to do. Seriously management needs to get on to them, obviously there’s no authority and staff don’t give a shit.

I don’t know where to start! My steak was suppose to be medium but it was rare and my Mushroom sauce was more like mushroom slop. The onion rings are not onion rings and as my boyfriend said it was more like onion mash. My boyfriends steak was ok but that was the only thing that was ok The Greek Salad, well don’t even get me started on that. Greek salad with mesclun salad leaves drowned in balsamic vinegar is NOT a Greek Salad. It was over priced and sub standard. We will never eat here again. One more thing we never eat McDonalds however I would of rather spend our $120 at Maccas

Had dinner last night. My partner and i had the chicken burger with sour cream and sweet chili sauce. Chicken was rather thin and dry. Sour cream was runny and just ran off the burger. And what the heck is the go with the so called."onion rings" they were woeful. I remembered food being much better a few years ago. I spent 300+ and think we will continue to go to outback steakhouse in the future

Worst meal ever... could have feed the whole family at Mc Donalds for the cost of my t-bone alone and what restaurant charges $2.90 for gravy when your paying $39 for a t-bone no where i have ever been before have done charges like that.

Food was plentiful and nice, staff were pleasant however the ladies amenities were dirty and so was the kids play area and things were ripped, we wouldn’t let the kids play in there I just think they need update the decor and stay on top the cleaning

If I could leave less then one star believe me I would! My boyfriend and I came here for a nice dinner, not only was the staff lazy, rude and to busy with their own conversation to serve people, the food was frozen and reheated the chips were soggy the rest was burnt, my boyfriends steak was a good cut mine was full of fat and grissle. Literally the worst WORST service we have endured we would rather eat leftovers that had been thrown in a public dumpster and left to rot then to come back to this place.

Delicious meal and great service! Would definitely come again!

Friendly staff and the decor reminds me of Hanna Barbera Land from the long lost Australia's Wonderland!

Lots of cheese melts/cheese smothers options. Tonnes of options in the menu that it makes it hard to decide what to order.

Salads are definitely not the hero here. They're very liberal with their gravy too! The food tastes good and it's just a nice throwback eating experience.

Sunday lunch. Hours were suitable being locals we thought the place looked nice advertising looked good.. no booking was required we just walked in waited for a little bit then were seated..the place is decked out like your out back in Mexico / American Indian country..good place for themed dinner party..the wait staff were friendly enough the menu sounded good..wait for food wasn't too long..unfortunately the pictures looked better than the taste. The onion rings were weak looking a little yesterday's taste to it. We had the beef ribs but they were not succulent nor easy to cut off the bone. The Spicy Mexican Schnitzel.. spicy yes, nacho red beans mix on top of schnitzel abit too much of it..covered whole plate had to dig around to found the schnitzel. Ended up scrapping off the nacho read beans sauce off and just ate the schnitzel. Before paying the Bill we did advise the wait staff at the front desk that the onions were not good he said he would advise the kitchen but seems im not the first customer to find the onion rings yuk.. bill cost just under $100 it wouldn't have mattered if the food was average but the food was less than average.. we would not recommend this place if you want value for your buck. Ps. We had to go to another restaurant to get desert couldn't risk more disappointment.

Some things can be a miss at Silver Spur, for example I'm not a fan of the onion rings that come with the meals, and the cleanliness of the dining area is sometimes questionable but in saying that I've never been fully disappointed with any meal. I enjoy the nachos, and any chicken and steak dishes I've tried have always been cooked well, never dry or overdone. Still better than most places with a drive-thru.

Half price burgers on Wednesdays!

I cant lie.. I only come here on wednesdays when the burgers are half price. I wouldnt pay full price. Nonetheless i ordered the Texan blaze chicken burger and omg it was delicious. The chicken was extra crispy and really dark (i like that tho) and the sauce was so good too. My bf ordered the pineapple beef burger that was yummy too.

2 burgers came to $18. Definitely worth it. Nice casual family vibe here. Service was good too. Definitely recommend coming here on a wednesday to take advantage of their delicious burgers

We have been here a few times it's a great place to take your kids. They can cook a steak nicely. Everything else is mediocre but all in all I would go back. It has a great atmosphere and nice place to catch up over and meal with family.

Very disappointed. I definitely won't be going back again. Value for money was crap and food was cold. Don't bother bringing it to the Managers attention. She doesn't like feedback unless its positive....a big waste of time!!!!

Very very disappointed! Nothing like the Spur in Western Australia that is amazing!. The ribs were dry and tough, the garlic prawns were horrible and soggy like they had been sitting in water for a day. Overall very disappointed with the food and took almost 20mins to get a coke and it wasn't even busy. I definitely will never go there again!!!!
